Updater runs each time I start Photoshop

I'm using Photoshop CS2 and recently installed it on my new Vista system. During normal use, I log in to Windows as a non-administrator, as recommended for security purposes.
Each time I launch Photoshop, it wants to check for updates, and asks for administrator privileges to do so. This is very annoying, first because I then have to enter my password for the admin account each time, and second because I don't need to check for updates every single time I run the program.
I can instruct Windows to run photoshop.exe as an administrator each time it runs, which fixes the annoying problem of it checking for updates, but it still means I have to enter my administrator password each time I want to run Photoshop. Surely there is a good solution to this problem? I'd be happy if I could just instruct Photoshop once and for all to "do not check for updates". I have this option set and it seems to work when I run it as an administrator but when I run it as a non-privileged user, it still insists on checking for updates.
Help?

Turn off the updater.
It's been notoriously buggy, and if you're currently up-to-date, you don't need it to be running. If you even sleepily pay attention to what's going on in the world of Adobe and Photoshop, you should become aware of updates when they become available.
Better to go get and install them manually, rather than let your computer make that decision for you.

I'm not getting an update message, so I can't re-create your view, but this might help.

  • Image automatically opens each time I start Photoshop

Every time I open photoshop, an image I created opens with it.  Only one.  I can close it; but it reappears every time I open the program.  How can I delete it permanently?

    Hi,
What operating system and version of photoshop are you using?
It sounds like the recovery file from a photoshop crash is opening.
If your using tabs in photoshop and after the image opens, you should be able to right click on the tab and choose either Reveal in Explorer or Reveal in Finder
and then delete the file from the folder that opens.

Can anybody tell me how to run rmiregistry each time windows starts.
I want to start my RMIserver automatically to work.First I need to start rmiregistry then I want to start my RMIServer class as windows service.

Stick a shorcut to it in your Startup folder or create a new Key in the registry @ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
If you have arguements to rimreg (like port number) create a .bat script and use that to launch it.

  • Just installed latest Itunes, and system now grinds to a halt, caused by apsdaemon.exe and apple mobile using 99% processing. Have stopped these processes, but each time I start Itunes I have to do it all over again, any help would be appreciated

Having just installed the latest iTunes update, I find my system grinds to a complete standstill. I've checked and found two apple processes, apsdaemon.exe and applemobiledeviceservice.exe use 90% plus of my processor, so have stopped these. However, each time I start iTunes the same situation occurs. Is there anyway I can remove these exes from my system or is apple aware of this stupid update and what are they doing about it. Any guidance would be very much appreciated

What version of itunes were you using before you updates?
Have you checked other related post?
iTtune will require applemobiledeviceservices.exe and others to run.  What you are experencing is usually caused by a conflict with other software on you system.  Everybodys system is set up differently, so there is not a "one fix all".  Most commonly associated with Firefox addons, video accelerator software, podcasts on the backup, anivirus software, parential control software, take you pick!
    I found my fix here.

  • Each time I start iTunes on one of my computers it prompts me for my password.

Hello all.  On one of my computers (a Sony VAIO laptop), each time I start iTunes, the program prompts me for my password to enable automatic downloads.  The email address of my account is filled in, but the password field is blank.  The other computer (a Gateway desktop) doesn't do this; evidently, the first time I input both email address and password, it saved it successfully and hasn't asked for it again.  Both are i7 machines running Windows 7 Home Premium with all updates current.  I've done all sorts of troubleshooting and even removed and reinstalled iTunes to no avail.  This only appears to have become a problem with the upgrade to 10.5.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

    Hello Vulspyr
Look in the iTunes Store and there will a link that says Purchased, once there you should be able see all purchased made under the Apple ID that you are signed in with and there should be a cloud icon to download those tracks. The article below will assist you further.

  • Each time I start iTunes, it configure again the program.

I'm running iTunes v7.6.2.9 with Windows Vista Ultimate 32bits and SP1. I reinstall iTunes, but it change nothing. Each time I start iTunes, the configure window appear.
I also have some problems with QuickTime. When I try to watch a movie, I get this error message: "Error 46: Could not load or find the QuickTime ActiveX control.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This seems to be caused by a bug in the Vista installer. Are you using the link on the Quick Launch toolbar? Try using the iTunes link in the main Start Menu and it should work OK. If not try opening the program from the *C:\Program Files\iTunes* folder. I simply replace the Quick Launch link with a freshly made shortut to the iTunes msin program. I then get caught out again after every iTunes upgrade....

  • I am using Windows 7 and using IE 10, I have to reinstall Flash Player each time I start my computer

Hi I am using Windows 7 and IE 10 and I have to reinstall Flash Player each time I start my computer, even with a fresh install. The same thing is happening on my laptop and is driving me crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem. I have tried some suggested fixes from this forum with still no results. Thanks.

Make sure that you allow Firefox in your security software (firewall).
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
    See:
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Firewalls
Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 19.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

  • An irritating alert each time I start GarageBand '11

Are you seeing the same? All of a sudden the updater is prompting me to update to GarageBand 10.0, each time I start GarageBand '11. Totally unnecessary, since GarageBand 10.0.2 is already installed and working. Even the option "Don't tell me about GarageBand 10.0 again" does not stop the nagging

Thanks, isteveus. I am seeing it on all my Macs, since I upgraded to GarageBand 10.0.2.  I think,  I'll have to start trashing preferences files
