Updates and Apple ID

I currently have 3 updates available. When try to update it requests me to sign into Apple ID. But when I do, nothing happens, still do not update! Suggesations? Also, I have 5 different Apple IDs. Is there a way to merge them? It is such a PAIN!!!

ITunes update and Apple TV Woes

I was notified about an update of several things today (7/5/09), one of which was for iTunes. I performed the update and restarted the computer as directed. I don't remember just why but something was amiss with the my Apple TV's connection to the library on my MacBook so, I thought it might be helpful to remove the Apple TV and re-install it. So, I did remove it but now I can't seem to get iTunes to see it. The Apple TV software is up to date and functions properly otherwise it's just not recognized by iTunes on my MacBook. I have checked and tired every combination of settings in the Preferences areas and nothing works. I have reset my Apple TV to factory settings and then re-installed the updates and still nothing. Any ideas?

Sometimes I have had connection problems with my Apple TV - my fix is to UNPLUG the Apple TV then power it backup and let it go through the boot-up process. Then things seem to work again.

I bought my software pack iWork 2008 at the apple retail store and I cannot get any updates and apple App Store won't help me. Does any one know how I can get the upgrade without paying full price for a second time? I paid $99 for the iWork family pcan'

I cannot believe that apple is refusing to help a customer who bought and paid for iWork software just because I bought it from the retail store the App Store says they cannot allow me to upgrade. I have never heard of such. It should to matter where I got it i bought apples software and I don't et how the retail store can be different frothe App Store my god its all still apple. So stupid. I will not pay full price for the upgrade. Also I purchased Logic Studio and 2 days later the upgrade came out and they will not let u upgrade ? I think there should be at Least a 30-45 day window if u purchase software and they release the upgrade u should get not. It's not like apple doesn't make enough money already.

iWork '08 & 09 installed from the retail disk or from the downloaded trial must be updated through Software Update. Those installations will not be recognized as installed by the Mac App Store. In Mountain Lion Software Update has been "rolled into" the Mac App Store. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu just like you always have & the Mac App Store will launch. Depending on what you have that needs updating you may see two sections in the MAS window.
But, as always, if you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '08 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08. If it doesn't have the '08 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
If you are running Pages 3.0.3, then you do have the latest version of Pages from iWork '08. If you want to upgrade to iWork '09, you will need to purchase the new version, just like everyone else. The good news is that you can buy just the individual iWork apps - Keynote, Pages & Numbers - that you need or want for $20 US each from the Mac App Store & then install them on as many Macs as you need using the same Apple ID.

ITunes 11.3.1 update and Apple TV problems

Since updating iTunes the other day I cant play Photos or stream video through my Apple TV v3. Current firmware on both devices. Used to work okay. No changes made to router or firmware etc. Everything else works as before. Apple TV will however find and play audio from iTunes!! Figure that.
Apple TV finds some photo thumbnails but just spins its wheel when asked to display it. Same with video - sees thumbnails but won't play. Doesn't even timeout, just spins its wheel...any thoughts anyone from Apple?

So you can't play photos or video through the Apple TV because it just spins, but audio works. You may want to check the network performance since audio works but video won't work. Since it only sees shows of your photos and videos you may want to look at the second article.

I have been waiting like all of you... I do not have the iphone and I do not have patience.. I cannot believe I waited this long.. But I was determined to wait to hear the reviews after the update.. Foe what I want the phone for ( mostly fun and basic stuff) it seems perfect.
SO.. tonight I plan to buy it (again.. long story). I called the Apple store right now to confirm stock, yes they have many. I asked if they will have demo's out with the update so I can see it... He said, "What Update?"... AAARRGGGG... he did not know what I was talking about and said they will not have demos. Also said onloy the touch ipod has the WiFi... Ugh.

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

If you're beyond the 90-day free telephone support period and don't have AppleCare on the iPhone, then yes, Apple will charge you for assistance unless the problems turns out to be one that would be covered under the warranty. But if you have an Apple Store in your area, you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar there and they will help you at no charge.
For assistance here, without any information other than "won't work" it's difficult to offer much in the way of useful suggestions. All I can suggest is that you try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.

If you try restoring from a backup and that doesn't fix the problem, try restoring to factory settings and, if the problem goes away, then synching your apps. You'll lose the app data and settings, but if the problem is due to a corrupt cache or settings file, that should cure it.
If none of that helps, your device may have developed a hardware fault and will need to be take or sent to Apple.

Can os x server Profile Manager updates iOS os and appl installation?

I've currently use Apple configurator to push profiles, update OS and app deployment to our College ipads. Have been told to use os x server to deploy instead. After upgraded the macbook air to mountain lion and install os x server, i'm kinda wondering does the profile manager in os x server is only for pushing out profiles and assigning users to the ipads etc? Do i still need to use apple configurator to do all the updates and appl installed first then use profile manager to push profile?
We've got quite alot of ipads need setting up and we normal use a ipad case where one usb cable connect to the laptop and charging case to deploy our apps.

HT1600 Should update to Apple TV take hours?

When I received a message on the TV screen that Apple TV needed to be updated, I started the update. The update went for hours and the next time I started to use Apple TV I got the same message to Update. This time I did not update and Apple TV seems as good as ever.
Now I wonder if I might not have updated in the first place. Since I am able to use Apple TV to watch NETFLIX, should I just leave well enough alone.

If you are happy with the way it's working you can leave it alone but you will get nagged to update every so often.
The update download time will depend on your internet speed but if other things work well hours sounds odd.
It is possible there was a problem with your update downloading the first time and it didn't apply it.
Once you've chosen to update leave the unit alone until it finishes the task.

After doing some data mining, found out from community this is an long standing APPLE problem- which doesn't get much tech support in terms of fixes. I have an HPPavillion DV6 64 bit, Windows 7 OS . After reading an earlier complaint from 2009 in the support community, I ran diagnostics from ITunes which gave the following result. Can someone please help? (I'm not enough of a techie to know what I'm doing or how to locate /reinstall CD drivers. I am searching for driver disc but cannot locate.)

Doublechecking ... did you have CD/DVD drive tests checked when you ran those diagnostics? (I'm not seeing the CD/DVD test results down the bottom of the results where I'd expect to see them.)

You can log out of the currently logged in account by taping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and you can then log back in.
If you updated your existing account with a new email address then that shoud 'refresh' it on it
If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can redownload its content and download updates to its apps. You should be able to update an account's email address via this page : http://appleid.apple.com

Apps are locked to the Apple ID that was used to download them. You will have to sign in as your brother in order to update it.

The apps were purchased by another user with a different Apple ID. You will have to erase them and repurchase them using your Apple ID.
