Updates are removing app tabs

The last two updates to Firefox 4.0 have removed the app tabs. They were staying fine for a while, but then when Firefox updates they dissapear again.
I depend on these heavily and this is getting really annoying. :-(

app-tabs are basically tabs like the other tabs and for the most part they are treated as any other tab by any application/ extension that looks at tabs.
Is there a reason why you asked this question, like something you read?

• Where are my app tabs?

Hi. Yesterday I changed theses and when I re-started Firefox all of my app tabs were gone. I restarted my computer several times and they still won't come up. Is there anything I can do or place to look on my computer to find my app tabs?
Thanks.

App tabs are special tabs and are always displayed at the left end of the tab bar.
You can place all bookmarks that you want to see on the Bookmarks Toolbar in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.
You can do that in the side bar or the Bookmarks manager if you can't do it on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
Most Visited is a special (smart) folder that shows websites that you've visited and that aren't necessarily bookmarks, so you can't drag them on the bookmarks toolbar unless you first bookmark them. You can do that by opening them in a tab and clicking the star on the location bar twice and choose the Bookmarks Toolbar as the destination folder.

• Why are my App Tabs not sticking w/ FF4.0?

Just downloaded FF4.0 and love the App Tab feature. However, unlike the demo video, my App Tabs don't automatically reload when I exit and restart FF. I checked the browser options and nothing addresses this.

Hi there!
I just installed Firefox 4 and I had the same problem. To fix this is simple. You must drag the "add tab" from the modify toolbar options. If you do not see the add tab from within the modify toolbar options container. It's probably that it's already resting on the personal toolbar (just below the home icon). If so, drag the add tab icon to the main tab toolbar and the plus (+) tab will apear.
Hope this helps!

• Can't Update or Remove apps, iPhone 4, iOS 7

iPhone 4, 16 GB, running iOS 7.1.2, not jail broken, iTunes 11.4, Mac OS 10.6.8. I always sync & update via iTunes & USB cable. Lately when I sync iPhone to computer, and update apps, for some reason, available space changes radically- one minute it will say I am more than 1 GB over, then later will say hundreds of MB free. I sync every few days to update apps and back up phone. Most numbers seem normal, but Documents & Data are about 1.5 GB, Other 1.38- not sure if those are reasonable?
Last night, tried to backup/update as usual, but it showed I was over again, so I deselect a music playlist to make space. I also deleted a few apps, which actually showed I had less space after doing that. I then readded playlist. Phone said it had only 60 MB free space available. I decided to free some space - I looked closely at apps on phone- a few said waiting, and were grayed out. When I looked at those apps on iTunes, it showed that they need to be updated (no option to Remove or Install), so I manually clicked upgrade on those apps, and did another sync. They still said Update, so I decided to try to remove them from the phone. But, I can’t from iTunes, as there are only Update buttons, and I can’t on the phone- holding apps for a while allows me to see small x on all other apps (except of course stock Apple ones) but not the “waiting ones.” I am assuming the issue is that they are newer versions of apps that won’t run on my iPhone under iOS 7, so I just want to delete them. I believe they are all free apps, things like WordPress, AccuWeather, BigMagnify free, American Airlines…
I tried several restarts, a few hard restarts, relaunching iTunes, but am trying to avoid resetting all settings. Any other suggestions how to remove the apps from the phone once and for all?

Today, when syncing/backing up, I got pop up in iTunes "The app "BigMagnify" was not installed on the iPhone…because the app could not be found." Which is fine, except the app is sitting on my phone, saying "waiting," taking up space while remaining useless and unremovable. Should I try deleting it from Mobile Applications on the computer? Also, some of the apps that I can't "update" do still work, while others still say waiting on the phone. And none of them can be removed from the phone.
Thanks.

• Dissatisfied about having to download a Apple Watch ad described as an update. Please send an update to remove app

apple policies deceiving. Sending Apple Watch ads concealed in an update. Requesting an ap to remove it from my device

It's NOT an add for Apple Watch - it is the Apple Watch app itself that will allow those that wish to purchase an Apple Watch the means to connect to their iPhone, which they will need to do for it to work.
Stop moaning about it and if you don't like it you can always hide it away in a folder on another part of your phone. There will be lots of people other than yourself who will want to buy an Apple Watch and will then need that app.
You signed up to the terms and conditions when you updated the software on your phone and if you didn't like it, then you had the choice to decline.
Also, you are not addressing Apple here and they will not hear you - this is a user to user technical support forum and nobody here can help you. Again, it is stated in those terms and conditions that you obviously read?
If you are unhappy, then tell Apple directly.

• FireFox 4 - why are my app tabs large and why do I not have a new app tab - the one with the plus symbol

I just downloaded FireFox 4 and my tab bar at the top does not look like it should. The tabs are all large, I want just a small tab. I'm also missing the new tap - the one with the plus symbol.
Please help

• The app tabs set up easily, but do not reappear when Firefox is reopened.

Creating app tabs is simple. However, they do not reappear the next time you start up Firefox. That means you have to recreate them each time Firefox is started up. The instructions say they reappear each time Firefox is started and only disappear when unpinned.

Well supposedly is not all that clear cut.
App-tabs are considered part of browsing history so you must save your browsing history for app-tabs to work. '''Tools > Options > Privacy''' you must have "Remember my browsing history" and in Settings where check marks mean to clear things you must leave unchecked "Browsing history". Annotated picture:
* http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4928/clearcachew.png
Do not include you home page in your app-tabs they are two different things. If you did include your home page in your app0-tabs you would have two copies in your tabs bar.
To create a app-tab right click on the tab and choose "pin tab". If you have an extension like "Multiple Tab Handler" you can can select several tabs at once and pin them at once.
If you don't trust supposedly, and I sure don't, then bookmark all of your app-tabs to a bookmark folder so you will be able to recreate them again but opening the folder into tabs and then making those tabs app-tabs.
I already indicated in my first reply the problems you may have by closing them or in opening another page from the same site. Pages from other sites will open in another tab from bookmarks and from links. Pages identified in the AwesomeBar will open in the currently active tab no matter what as the Ctrl and Shift keys do nothing for items in the AwesomeBar. Use of CCleaner will remove app-tabs, I don't use it, but it is the cause of some complaints.

I don't include app-tabs in the following but you will probably learn a lot more about tabbed browsing then the above articles, which are restricted on what can be included, and who they are addressed too. There are no such restrictions on my own web pages.

• Can I put an app tab in tab group?

Hello,
Just upgraded to FF4 and discovered app tabs and tab groups - both great features.
However, when I switch to the view of my tab groups, I don't see the app tabs shown anywhere. They aren't in the default tab group, nor in any of the tab groups I created.
If I right-click the app tab, there isn't an option to put it in a group, and if I right-click a tab in a group and make it an app tab, it doesn't show up in the group any more.
Any way around this? I like both features, but would like to group app tabs as well as non-app tabs.
Thanks

OK, just solved my own problem! I was playing with the tab groups, and noticed some small icons on the right side of the group panel. I couldn't work out what they were, and so tried clicking one. Turns out that these are the app tabs! They appear in EVERY tab group, just not displayed the same as normal tabs.
Hope this helps someone else :-)

• How do you remove an iMovie update from my app store update tab?

The iMovie 10.0 software update (released Oct 22, 2013) appears in my App Store 'updates' tab but it's not compatible with my 'ol 2008 iMac (it doesn't have the correct graphics card). How do I remove the update? I've turned off "auto-update", relauched the app store application, etc, but to no avail.

Apple has released iMovie 10.0.1 that seems to support older video cards. I got it installed on my mid-2007 iMac

• App updates are not removed after installing in update screen of iPhone and iPad

Whenever there is an update for an app, the same is displayed in the update screen of the App Store in both iPhone and iPad. After downloading and installing the patch, the app is not removed from the update screen. In earlier iOS versions, the same gets removed and only the pending apps for update remain.
Questions:
Is this a bug?
Will this not increase the update screen list of patch updates over time?
Why are the updated patches not removed from the update screen?

This is not a bug.
The updated apps will start disappearing after about two weeks (on a first in first out basis)

KILLING ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER AND TRAY ICON.
Easy ! I use Comodo Pro Firewall.
1) Click on DEFENSE box.
2) Click on "View Active Process List"
3) Look down the list of processes. Find APDPROXY.EXE.
4) Click it, then click "Terminate and Quarantine"
5) ALL DONE ! No more icon in tray and the program is killed.
APDPROXY - This is lurking about, you can find it on SEARCH from the START button. BUT, you cannot delete it or move it and MSCONFIG does not work. You can disable it as many times as you like - it will keep coming back.
SOLUTION ! Download CCleaner, it is a great little program and free.
Using this you can click on TOOLS, then STARTUP. A list of programs are shown which are enabled at STARTUP. Disabling does not work, just click on APDPROXY and click DELETE. It`s GONE !
All over in a flash - no more ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

• App tabs are not saving nor highlighting when I get updates

When I restart Firefox, my app tabs sometimes saves, and sometimes they do not. Also I open a new window in a current session, my app tabs do not save between windows. I would expect them to be on every window I opened; otherwise, they'd really be no different from normal tabs.
Also, Firefox says that when an app tab updates, it will highlight. However, my hotmail app tab and my facebook app tab will not highlight no matter how many emails or facebook notifications I receive.
Edit:
Is there a way to have the app tab save the page you pinned. For example, have it save my facebook wall and have it open my facebook wall when I restart firefox instead of having it load a friend's profile page?

The app tabs feature is still in a relatively early stage of development. The option to remember app tabs independently of sessions has not yet been implemented, but it will be part of the release version of Firefox 4.

• Easiest way to update all apps on iPhone 5S without having to click update for each one under the apps tab in iTunes

After I've used the download all updates option under the updates tab in the iTunes library Apps view, when I plug in my device (iPad or iPhone) and go to the device apps view I now have a button to the right of each of those apps that says "update" instead of "remove" or "install".
The problem is that my app library is enormous and often there are 20+ apps that had updates at one time and it's a royal pain having to scroll through the entire list to find the ones that have the "update" button that needs to be clicked.
Unfortunately iTunes doesn't have a sorting option in the pulldown called "updated" to bring those to the top.
Is there any way to easily select all of those apps rather than having to manually scroll through my whole library hunting for them just to click the update button?

Hi Twilight_Face!
You can always try a backup and restore in an attempt to get rid of these apps that were interrupted during the download and are no longer available:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

• HT5919 How do I remove apps from App Store after update in IOS7?

After app update, all app icons are remaining in App Store. Is there a way to remove the icons as in iOS 6?

There is no way to remove apps from your purchase history. It simply cannot be done. You can HIDE apps from the purchased tab, but you can NEVER delete them.
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Support - Apple
As for the updates not clearing, try closing the App Store app and reboot your iPad,
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
