Updates for CS5

Why is it so hard to get help on the Adobe site.  I have CS5 Extended v12 and my Updates under the Help drop down is greyed out.  I want to update my camera raw plug in, where do I find the updates??  Extremely fustrting to find.

Please refer: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/disable-auto-updates-application-manager.html
Make sure your updates are not disabled by admin, If so remove the files which suppress updates as mentioned in the link.
In future your Admin needs to make sure that either he rolls out the update package or they are not suppressed.

  • Camera Raw update for CS5 Extended

I am looking for a Camera Raw update for CS5 Extended. I currently have CR 6.7.0.339.  IS there something newer for me to use with CS5 Extended, Ver. 12.1x64?

Camera Raw 6.7 is the latest version that's compatible with Photoshop CS5. There's nothing newer for CS5.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
If you need Camera Raw 7+ for your camera, you'll have to upgrade to Photoshop CS6.
    Which camera do you have?
Supported cameras and minimum Camera Raw version required are listed here:

  • What is the latest camera raw update for CS5?

I'd like to know the latest camera raw update for CS5 to support Sony a6000 raw files. I'd also need to know how to update the plugin.

The last version of Camera Raw that you can use with Photoshop CS5 is Camera Raw 6.7. To have support for your camera you would need Camera Raw 8.4 or newer. You have a few choices:
    1. Use DNG converter 8.4 or newer to create DNG copies of your raw files and edit those in Photoshop CS5.
    2. Subscribe to the creative cloud photography plan and to get the latest Photoshop and Lightroom.
    3. Add Lightroom to your workflow by purchasing a standalone license for Lightroom 5.

  • Trying to do 6.3 raw update for CS5 through Bridge not working

Been trying to update 6.3 raw for CS5 through Bridge and a pop up window says I am not the administrator for my computer.  I sign in as the admin still does not work.  I have tried installing in manual mode no luck either.

If you are working on Windows OS, then try to run the patch executable in Admin mode using "RunAsAdministrator" option in the right click context menu.

    Hello Vineet,
I did a complete uninstall (including the CS5 Clean Tool) and reinstalled MC CS5.  I ran the updater and everything seems to have updated properly.  Thanks for your help.  I was holding off on the reinstall because of the time involved with reconfiguring the apps, reinstalling plugins, etc.
Looking at the installer log, there appears to be some permissions related entries that were not present in logs of the failed installs.  Here is the relevant section of the log.

  • Cannot install the updates for CS5.

Greetings. I re-installed CS5 when I changed the hard drive of my PC. Now I cannot install the updates although in my old setup, I had no problem and was able to update to CS5.5.
Should I download and install CS5.5 manually on top of CS5?
    Or should I remove CS5?
Will my CS5 licence work for CS5.5?

Each time I turned on the computer I would get the message that several updates to Photoshop were available but could never download them or install them.  Following your March 17th instructions did not do the trick. However after some trials and errors, I managed to get the updates to cs5 installed (unfortunately, I don't know how I managed!). I still cannot get cs5.5 but it's OK.
Someone from Adobe called me and suggested  that I upgrade to cs6 at a special price but I declined the offer, thinking that at some point in the future, I may move to CC.
Thank you for your help, it lead me to a solution.

  • Is there an Adobe Updater for CS5?

I remember when I used to use CS4 products, all I had to do was go to something called "adobe updater" and it would look for all possible updates for my CS4 products. Now with CS5, I can't seem to find any updater for that. I have to go to the Adobe downloads page and manually update each application individually. Is there an automatic updater of some sort for CS5 products? And how can I access it?
    Thanks.

I don't know about for the whole suite, but you can access an automatic updater in Photoshop itself through the Help menu (specifically, Help - Updates...).  By the wording you get when you do that I'd say this updater handles more than just Photoshop:

  • Getting error when downloading updates for CS5 suite

I have been trying to use the update function on CS5 so that I can update Photoshop and Camera Raw so that I can work with RAW files from my camera.  Though the files appear to download, I keep receiving error messages that they failed to install and should try later.  This keeps happening over and over.  I am using a Mac Pro (from mid 2010) and have already updated to OS X Yosemite.  Grateful for any help anyone can provide!

  • I am trying to get the updates for CS5 and I keep getting this message   "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."    What does this mean?

I am trying to update CS5 through the CS5 application.   I hit "updates" in the help menu.   It goes through its series of updates and then says  " There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."
I have no idea what this means. Of course, I have retried this….but to no avail. Can somebody help me?

Please do a forum search.  I and others have repeatedly answered this question a whole bunch of times recently.
Bottom line:  the Adobe auto updater is utterly useless in CS5 and prior versions.  You need to download the updates and apply them manually yourself.
I and others have even supplied the links for Mac and Win, which you haven't even bothered to specify.

  • Camera-raw plug-in update for CS5.5

I've just bought a Fuji XE-1 camera and I've read that one needs the 7.4 version of the camera raw plug-in to handle its (RAF) files.
However, when I try to update to this version I get the message that this is not ment for my CS5.5
Why is this and what should I do to be able to  work with the RAF-files?
I use the 64-bit version and converting the files to DNG seems to be not the solution.

The Fuji XE-1 was first supported in Camera Raw 7.2.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Camera Raw 7 and above is only compatible with Photoshop CS6 and above. It will not work with CS5.5.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
    Your options:
Upgrade to Photoshop CS6 to get Camera Raw 7+
    Join the Creative Cloud
Download the free DNG converter and convert all Raw files from the XE-1 to DNG then edit the DNGs in CS5.5

I am registered with CS5 and all apps were re-downloaded yesterday.  When I try to update there are 3 updates that fail.  After Effects 10.0.2, Bridge 4.0.5 and Ext Mgr 5.0.   An error comes up after the update appears to have downloaded and says downloading failed and to call customer assistance.   Customer assistance says they can't help with CS5.  Go to the forum.    (Nice)   david

Thanks guys.  That worked.  If I tried to update through the various application's through the "help"/update heading about 5 applications needing updates would pop up.  Then when trying to download those updates an error would come up.  By downloading manually through Adobe.com I was able to update all the applications that needed updating.  So thanks for the tip.    FYI however - If I go back into the application's help/update heading they still show as updates being needed, when in fact they have been updated and verified - For whatever reason.    But anyway I am good to go now.
