Updates has stopped phone working

i have iphone 4s it wanted to update to 7.? first time when it finished updating it crashed took it to a shop they rebooted it but updated had fried the screen then worked fine other day the new update 7.? came up and phone wont do nothing now thanks for updates as phone was fine up to that point any ideas?
also my other iphone 4s button on top broke but cant switch off and on any ideas as it is stuck on games and needs to be reset. the sync circle keeps going round aint got a clue what to do if i cant turn it off.

do you know if the soft buttons under the screen have backlight? my phone doesn;t seem to have....
As far as I know the K3 capacitive buttons don't have backlight support(I could be wrong on this one).
The setting for the backlight is usually in Settings->Display.....You can check that.

After the Recovery HD is finished starting up, you should see a desktop with a Mac OS X menu bar and a "Mac OS X Utilities" application window.
try that and see if you can run disk utility and verify your hd. this goes wo saying but do you have a good backup or clone you can boot from if you need to wipe your computer?

My Wireless mac keypad has stopped properly working. The keys sometime do not correspond to the result, or a a simultaneous duel actio, for example when the delete button is pressed the. Ursor does go backwards, but it also turns the sound up. Any ideas?

Hi, thankyou for your response. Can I just confirm that you mean turning the computer on and off again, or re-booting the whole system. If it is the first I have already turned the system on and off, with no luck.

1.0.1 update: has your phone volume improved?

Many people are saying that the 1.0.1 update has improved the phone's low volume problem while others are saying there is no change. We need to figure out why. I'm suspecting it's a hardware difference like the "5" vs. "7" screens.
If you have updated to 1.0.1 please post whether or not you notice an improvement in the phone volume and whether your serial number (from the back of the phone) starts with a 5 or a 7.
For the record, mine is a 7 and I had no volume improvement.

I had a volume problem "7" model, I could barely hear when I held it up to my ear. But although I have not updated to 1.01, suddenly my volume is very loud. I actually had to turn it down, for the last two days, as it was much too loud. Perhaps, it was the way I held it to my ear. I noticed that I was holding it cocked at an angle, I am now holding it flat against my cheek, and what a difference. Also when I first hold it to my ear, it is soft, and then sort of a click, and the volume jumps way up. Do not know what else it could be, as I haven't changed anything else. My wife called me in the car the today, and even with the windows down, I could hear her. Maybe it is something AT&T did....I am not that familiar with how cell phones and their signals operate, so it is just a guess. I just know that I can now hear clearly. Any ideas why?

TS1702 I am updating my IPAD to version 5.1 and the update has stopped before completion. What is the procedure. If I stop the update or restart the IPAD will the update be corrupted and also the IPAD operating system.

I am updating a new IPAD to the latest version from ITUNES. The update is not complete and has stopped. What is the procedure to restart? If I close ITUNES i get a message that the IPAD is updating. Will closing the application cause the update to be corrupted and thus the operating system? Will the same occur if I power the IPAD down or disconnect it vis the USB port?

You may also want to go to:
~/Library/iTunes/
This is done by going to the "Go" in the Finder and select Go To Folder. Copy and paste:
~/Library/iTunes/
In to Go To Folder selection. Look for a folder called iPad Software Updates. Delete anything in that folder and re download the upadate.

E63 Software Update has killed phone

My E63 wanted its software updating today, so I went through the process (backing up my contacts etc. first).
It said that the software update was successful, however when I went to restore the backup it failed. I tried again twice and each time it failed (I'm pretty sure it was during the settings part of the backup that it failed). My phone screen would then only show the time and that it was charging, with some white boxes flickering across the top.
I then reinstalled the phone software (the phone was working at this point, however obviously it behaved as if it had been through a complete system reset), and then attempted to restore the backup. It failed again and then the option to reinstall the phones software completely disappeared from my computer screen (I have a Windows 7 laptop, and my version of PC Suite says it is up to date).
Now, when I switch my phone on all I see is the hands image together with "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer." The phone is currently connected to my computer via USB, however it is not showing up in PC Suite or in My Computer.
This phone was bought second-hand for me as a gift, as such I only have the phone a charger and a USB cable (i.e. no software disks etc.).
Before this update attempt it was working fine, and I had no complaints.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

The Software Recovery Tool (SRT) is trying to recover a Windows 8 phone, and is not giving me an option to select a different operating system.
I press continue anyway, and it waits for a phone connection. It doesn't detect a connection (I have tried with the phone off, and with the phone on with the holding hands and "contact the retailer" sign showing).
Next it asks me to hold down the Power and Volume Down keys until the phone vibrates. I have done this by pressing the Power and Left/Down on the central pad (I tried them separately, as both of these can be used to control the volume I believe - the E63 doesn't have a dedicated volume control).
So far, with the Function key, Left central pad key and Power key pressed down the phone boots in to the main menu (office / media / settings etc.). I'm asked to "Select USB Mode", and so far I have only chosen PC Suite (I'm not sure if that is correct or not).
I've then hit OK on the SRT screen, however it still does not detect a connection, and takes me back to asking for the Power and Volume Down buttons to be pressed.
Once in the main menu on the phone I have also tried opening PC Suite on my computer, to see if that registers that the phone is there (it doesn't, despite going through the inital connection process).
When I exit out of the menu screen to the home screen, I can see the time the date and the fact that it's charging only. The calendar still opens from the relevant soft key, but contacts doesn't seem to (this may have something to do with the fact that I removed the SIM in case that was wiped during this process?).
In the Settings menu there is "General > Factory settings", however as I say the phone is second hand and I don't know the lock code (there is a very slim chance I may be able to get it - the previous owner never removed their emails - but it is as I say a slim chance).

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system information and details like the crash logs from your Event Viewer.

Iphone update has left phone in recovery, can't get it to work???

i connected the iphone up to my computer today, when prompted i updated the iphone software. Now the phone is left in the screen with the usb cable and itunes logo and won't do anything else (i had previously updated itunes).
i've tried re-installing itunes, been through the threads on here for about 4 hours now trying all kinds and nothing is working. Does anyone know of any other way that might work that i might not have tried yet? Or any idea how much this would cost to get fixed if i took it to an Apple store? It keeps asking me to insert the original disc that came with the product for an Apple Recovery Driver, but then keeps saying it can't find this online, and i've no idea how to go about finding the right one manually.
it was a pressie for my birthday off my other half so it's not on contract, and what makes it worse is i've just come out of hospital after having our first baby so have loads of photos on there. as well as that, no one can get in touch with me or me anyone else, at probably the worst time for not having a mobile!
i would be gutted if i lose the photos on the phone, but can live with it as luckily we took the digital camera with us so we do have some photos of the baby. i always defend apple to the pc users of the world, but this has really made me annoyed. i had a samsung phone before the iphone for nearly 2 years and never had any problems with it. it's making me think twice about the next phone i'll be getting.

The first step of an update is a backup, so there's a good chance you can recover your content after you get the upgrade installed.

Windows 7, iTunes 10.1.1.4 - trying to update to 10.2.1.
This has been going on for a couple of months now. The FAQ suggests deleting the Temp directory, but I can't do that because there's a file in there which I can't delete - FXSAPIDebugLogFile.txt.

Ios 8 update has stopped all alerts working

i have removed all alerts, rebooted and set them up again.
Skype is the one I need, I have removed the Skype app then added again, still nothing.
a call comes in on my phone and nothing on the ipad its seems not to respond to Skype at all any more, it all worked fine before update.
all settings are set to green.
it is ALL NOTIFICATION ALERTs that do not work anymore and have never worked since ios8 update.

Oh, and I have deleted ALL of my texts and done a full reset and it didn't work. Called my carrier and they said it was Apple's problem.

Firefox sometimes closes down unexpectitly and I also am getting a a pop-up saying Ask Updater has stopped working.

Along with this error came another pop-up saying Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error Program: C:\Program Files(x86)\Ask.com\updater.exe this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Is this a virus? I scanned my computer but nothing shows up?
Also though this is really strange....my cursor seems to stick as I move between monitors (I use three for work) and it then snaps across to the right place accompanied but a alarm sound......?

I had installed Foxit Reader 5.0.1.0523 with the PDF Creator Toolbar powered by Ask.com. The PDF Creator Toolbar was added as an addon in my Firefox 3.6.18 and I disabled this addon via the addon pane of Firefox.
The Foxit installer created the folders at C:\Program Files(x86)\Ask.com\ and one of the folder has updater.exe file. I had no error until a few days ago when the pop-up Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error with C:\Program Files(x86)\Ask.com\updater.exe this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. During this time I was launching Firefox and it tried to launch but immediately closes.
I have tried launching updater.exe again by double-clicking the file directly and the same runtime error pop-up appeared.
I decided to uninstall Foxit Reader together with the PDF Creator Toolbar via Add/Remove Panel and then reinstall Foxit Reader WITHOUT the PDF Creator Toolbar as per http://www.computer-maint.com/apps/blog/show/7197026-don-t-install-toolbar-when-updating-to-foxit-reader-5 .
So far no problem with Firefox or anymore runtime error.

Latest update has stopped iTunes toolbar working

After the latest update, the iTunes toolbar's buttons do nothing. It always starts like this:
Even though music is audible. Buttons change nothing. Not even the maximise one.
Also, when mousing over the iTunes icon when it's running and shows the 3 buttons, those do nothing either:
The mini player itself seems to be fine but I would love these to work as I do not always use it.

Hi there - I've spoken with Apple and here is their response (worked for me). You need to uninstall not only iTunes, but also (in this order):
1) iTunes
2) Apple Software Update
3) Apple Mobile Device Support
4) Bonjour
5) Apple Application Support
Then you restart your computer.
Then you install the latest version of iTunes (which will reinstall all those things you uninstalled).
Then you restart your computer again.
Mine is working perfectly again now.

Windows 7 update has stopped working

I am running Windows 7 ultimate and, up to now, have not had any problems updating it. Recently I noticed that I had not had to restart the machine to finish the installation of any new updates. I checked the installed updates to find that the
last was installed on 1/28/2015.
The system is set up to automatically install new updates but when I ask it to search for updates it says that I have never installed any updates (the installed updates lists well over 200 installed updates). and doesn't seem to find any updates even after
leaving it running for over an hour.
What do I have to do to fix this problem?

itunes has updated version but now will not start. error message states MSCVR80.dll was not found. Have tried downloading itunes again but still no joy...Help please !

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
