Updates lost my music, how do i get it back?????

When i went to updat my itouch it said to back it up, because most of my dngs i purchased on itunes from my itouch. then afer it supposly backed up it is no longer there! i had spent alot of money on music and now its gone. How do i get itunes to return my already purchased music?

If it's the beta of Messages that you downloaded then it removes iChat when it's installed as Messages is the replacement for iChat.

I have lost some music. I broke my iphone 5, bought a replacement from apple store, they downloaded most of my data and apps back onto it. Some of my music appeared back on it, some is lost. Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

Everything should be on your computer.
You should be syncing contacts and calendars with your comptuer regularly.
You should be transferring all itunes purchases to your computer regularly.
You should be importing all pics taken with iphone to your computer regularly.
Most especially before any update.

If you are in the U.S., then you can use the newly released beta version of the cloud to get your music.

if you installed the find my iphone app before it was lost
you can use icloud.com to track it
if not there is nothing you can do

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Certainly you did not restore your computer without making sure that your backup copy was up to date.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

What do you mean it's lost? Did you actually put it on the new computer?
Simply installing iTunes and logging into your account does not cause content to magically appear.

I updated to the new verison of I Tunes and have lost by library. How do I get it back?

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library as iTunes Library (Corrupt) and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
