Updates on Cache, SEO, Mobile compatibility and Cluster Design for EM

Was wondering if anyone has done the Experience Manager implementation and may have the answers to following questions:
1. Do we have any EM cache or if it can rely on Endeca cache for performance improvements?
2. Can EM help in any way for SEO?
3. How can we make sure that the content of our site is rendered properly in mobile devices also? Is it, whenever I create a page template, I have to create another replica for mobile devices?
4. Any insight of EM design in cluster environment? Will that be only a single instance on Endeca ITL with cartridge renderers on every App server or will there be an equivalent number of EM instance as that of App servers?
Any info on any of the topic would really be helpful. Thanks in advance for this.

1. Do we have any EM cache or if it can rely on Endeca cache for performance improvements?There is nothing like ExpMgr cache. Moreover these are not comparable. For performance improvements in data access time you can tune MDEX (assuming, that is what you mean by Endeca above), for performance improvements related to front end you will have to tune the front end application & the app server it is hosted on.
2. Can EM help in any way for SEO?In short no. But Endeca can help, they have SEO API's included into the assembler API, which will can take care of many aspects of SEO. Check out the [SEO Module|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35648_01/index.html] documentation.

Either you use 'Responsive Web Design' so that the same template works on different devices OR create separate templates for different category of devices..

Will that be only a single instance on Endeca ITL with cartridge renderers on every App server or will there be an equivalent number of EM instance as that of App servers?You will have one WorkBench(Exp Manager) but your site will be deployed on each dgraph.

I am responsible for creating/developing few reports in Prod Planning and Inventory Mgmt.
Is there a template for the Functional Design and Technical Design for the reports?
How do I go about making the functional and technical design?

If you could give us the stage of the report -
1. whether you are reporting from existing cubes and this report would be an additional one on a existing cube or
2. The report has to be designed from the ground up ...
Depending on the same - the entire lifecycle will be different and also whether the query is to be shown on the web or through excel will be helpful.
You could have a look at ASAP Templates in the meanwhile.

Cannot update free apps on my iphone and ipad - Asking for payment details

I am not able to update my free apps on iphone and ipad, apps like instagram, the weather channel and Farmville2 arent updating. I've been asked credit card info and charged 1$. Why? Can someone please help me out. I have tried logging off and logging in again however, its of no use. Apple hasnt even posted a message in regards to this.

Also I have funds in my account, so that shouldn't be a problem. I was trying to download a free app. It was working this morning. Frustrated doesn't cover it.

Compatible Mobile Phones and Syncing software for Entourage

Is there any mobile phones out there in Australia that have compatability with OS 10.5 and can sync with Entourage?

Apple's list of iSync-compatible devices is the list as far as I know. It's unclear to me what you mean by "give text messaging via Address Book."
There are a couple things I can suggest to help you find more information:
1. If there's a specific Motorola phone you're considering, post to the iSync Discussion requesting feedback on the specific functions in question from owners of that specific model phone. The iSync Discussion is the best venue for your question.
2. One can often download the user's guide or manual for a phone from the manufacturer's Web site. I did that recently from both Nokia's and Motorola's Web sites when I was comparing phones. You might find the specific information you're looking for in the phone's manual.
3. Contact the phone manufacturer, e.g. e-mail Motorola via their links under "Customer Support" for the UK with your specific questions.

Kerberos Single Sign On and Query Designer for BI forcing user to log in

Hello experts,
Our company just implemented SSO using Kerberos for Portal and BI. However when a user trying to open a query using the Query Designer to connect to the portal, they have to log in again. Anyone know why?

Is this for every user or only to certain user?

Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Gateway. Most Simple and Secure Design For Small Environment?

We would like users to be able to connect remotely over the Internet from their personal devices to their primary Windows 7 workstation (a physical box on their desk) by using the Microsoft RDP Client For Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. There is no
plan to use RDWeb or Remote Apps, or VDI. Just plain remote access to their desktop PC without VPN plus a third party 2nd factor authentication product that can text them back a code to enter with their AD credentials (AuthAnvil or Duosecurity)
We do not have TMG or ISA.
We would like to get these services all running in a single server and be as simple as possible while still being very secure.
The recommendations I see seem to suggest putting the RDG in a DMZ with either a domain controller on a new domain with a one-way trust to your internal domain or else a read-only domain controller on your domain and then RD Session Host and License server
located on different servers on your internal LAN.

That sounds like a lot of separate servers and cost for not a lot of users in our environment.
Do we even need a separate session host server if there are no RDP sessions being hosted directly on the servers because the users are only being redirected to connect to their workstations and will never be using terminal sessions on the server?
Can the RODC or the Domain controller on new domain with the one-way trust be the same server as the Remote Desktop Gateway server and not separate servers?
What is the most minimalist way to set this up with good security when opening all the ports needed to authenticate with internal DC is not secure enough?

#2 sounds like we would need 2 Essentials servers and we will not have that.
We currently have Server 2008 R2 and have 2012 Standard licenses that are not yet used.
We have much more than 75 users total, but 75 is more than the number of users that will probably take advantage of using RD Gateway any time soon. It will probably take time to catch on.
If RD Gateway usage was to get super popular and more than 75 users were depending on access to it, then we could financially justify paying to buy all the CALs needed to run RD Gateway without Essentials. Right now, they are skeptical that it will
be worth spending much money on this and don't want to invest a lot of money up front.
My understanding is that if we have 75 or fewer users using RD Gateway then we need to by no CALs, just apply a Server Standard Edition License to the server, but if we had 76, we would need to turn off Essentials and buy 76 new CALs.
Or would we need to add 50 CALs to the 25 that automatically come with Essentials?
Also does "turning off" Essentials mean we would have to reinstall and redeploy the RDG or is it just a matter of enabling the RD license server and adding purchased CALs?
No, when you buy essentials you get the right to create 25 users that access the server, when you create the 26th user you will need to have 26 CAL and RDS CAL.

EtherChannel and LAN Design for new buildiing(s)

What is the recommended best practice for EtherChannel size for a 3750G-12S stack? Will I benefit from stacking these with the StackWise cable on the backplane, or would it be better to run these independently back to the 4006 with individual EtheChannels?
The 3750G-12S stack will likely be 1 or 2 devices at distribution layer for upwards of 18 - 20 2960G-48 access layer switches and approximately 20 1242LAP AP's in addition to max capacity of end users attached to the switches.
I am considering implementing a 4 gig EtherChannel between the 3750's to the 4006 for this load. My limit is the number of available ports on the 4006 and obviously the max load of links on the EtherChannel.

Unsure there's a single "best practice" for stacking or not. Some advantages/disadvantages to both. Part of the decision might rest on whether the 3750s will be L2 or L3.
Stackwise could be a performance bottleneck if you believe there would be much traffic between switch ports, but if most will transit your 4006, your links to it would be the bottleneck.
What you might consider, a single 3750G-12S (four?) that can handle 2 links from each access switch, that are Etherchanneled and not connected to the same 3750 stack member. This with the 4 gig Etherchannel to the 4006, which again should be spread across stack members.

Hi, I recently subscribed for UNLIMITED UK (Incl mobiles & landlines) and IRELAND (landlines) for £3.99 ex VAT. But when i call mobiles in UK it wont go through, i can call landlines though. They advertised it as mobiles are included in the plan and hence i subscribed. There is no use for me if the plan doesn't include mobiles. It is still advertised as mobiles included. What's the original position?
Does the screen asking for your password have a different Apple ID that the one you currently use? If so the app must have been downloaded with that different Apple ID. You will have to enter the password for that original Apple ID because downloaded or purchased apps are always associated with the ID used to download o urchase them.

Best design for HA Fileshare on existing Hyper-V Cluster?

Have a three node 2012 R2 Hyper-V Cluster. The storage is a HP MSA 2000 G3 SAS Block Storage with CSV's.
We have a fileserver for all users running as VM on the cluster. Fileserver availability is important and it's difficult to take this fileserver down for the monthly patching. So we want to make these file services HA. Nearly all clients are Windows 8.1,
so SMB 3 can be used.
What is the best way to make these file services HA?
1. The easiest way would probably be to migrate these fileserver ressources to a dedicated LUN on the MSA 2000, and to add a "general fileserver role" to the existing hyper-V cluster. But is it supported and a good solution to provide Hyper-V VM's
and HA file services on the same cluster (even when the performance requirements for file services are not high)? Or does this configuration affect the Hyper-V VM performance too much?
2. Is it better to create a two node guest cluster with "Shared VHDX" for the file services? I'm not sure if this would even work. Because we had "Persistent Reservation" warnings when creating the Hyper-V cluster with the MSA 2000. According "http://blogs.msdn.com/b/clustering/archive/2013/05/24/10421247.aspx",
these warnings are normal with block storage and can be ignored when we never want to create Windows storage pools or storage spaces. But the Hyper-V MMC shows that "shared VHDX" work with "persistent reservations".
3. Are there other possibilities to provide HA file services with this configuration without buying new HW? (Remark: DFSR with two independet Fileservers is probably not a good solution, we have a lot of data that change frequently).

Hi Franz,
If you are not going to be using Storage Spaces in the Cluster, this is a warning that you can safely ignore.
It passes the normal SCSI3 Persistent Reservation tests, so you are good with those. Additional, when we use the cluster we can install the cluster CAU it will automatically install the cluster updates.

Backup fail on Time Machine and My Passport for Mac on Yosemite

Cannot seem to get Time Machine to do a full backup of my NEW My Passport for Mac.
I've:
- Updated firmware on WD external drive (and formatted correctly for Apple)
- Updated to latest IOS 10.10.3 (Yosemite)
- Verified and repaired Mac HD via iOS Disk Utility and the WD Drive Utility (no issues found on either)
Error message continues to be "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to My Passport for Mac. An error occurred while copying files. The problem may be temporary. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk."
I'm backing up about 250 GB and have done this numerous times on my Passport for Mac. Everything SEEMS to be fine during backup, until after about 2-3 hours, into a 4-hour backup, the error message appears without any error codes.
Does anyone have any input? I don't think it is on the WD side. Anyone know if there an issue with Time Machine and this external drive? Help!
