Updates repeated error: 1303

Error 1303 in spite of uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe.  Also OSX 10.8.3 does not let me complete edit root when I jumped through all the hoops.  The last step cannot be completed because root does not show in window where 'root enable' should be.  Maybe when I am uninstalling Adobe I am not totally into the trash with Adobe Reader and/or Adobe Flash Player?  Not withstanding that, still the Mac solution is not available since last step is not observable in selection window.  Kindly advise.  Thank you

Please try each of the following steps you haven't already taken, until the issue is resolved. After each step, relaunch the App Store and try again.
1. Follow the instructions in the Apple Support article linked below:
Mac App Store: Cannot update App Store purchases or updates do not seem available
2. If any App Store purchases were made under a different Apple ID, or if the bundled iLife applications were accepted under a different ID, sign in to the App Store with that ID to update.
3. Alternatively, delete the probem applications and re-download them with the ID you're using now. If you haven't already purchased them with that ID, you'll have to do that first, because purchases can't be transferred from one account to another.
4. Select the Purchased tab in the App Store window. If you see an item in the list marked "You have 3 apps to accept," click Accept.
5. Triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window may open with a file selected. If it does, delete the selected file. You may be prompted for your login password.
Then repeat step 4.
6. Select
Store ▹ View My Account
from the App Store menu bar, then select View hidden purchases. If you're trying to update any hidden purchases, unhide them.
7. Launch iTunes and select
Store ▹ Authorize This Computer
from the menu bar.
8. If you've moved any App Store apps out of the applications folder, or into a subfolder, put them back. Never move or copy those applications.

    Blakney,
Thanks for your post - I don't think it's a false alarm to receive an error message! Did I understood you correctly that you ran the installer as administrator and still got the message of insufficient privileges?
By the way, what would be the preferred procedure: first de-install CVI2010 and then install SP1 or directly install SP1?

  • I get an error 1303 when I try to install Adobe reader update.

I have tried three times ti download and install the Adobe Reader Update. It gets to 97% installed and then I get error 1303. I checked the troubleshooter but it hasn't got solutions for Windows 7 Home 64 bit O/S's. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Without the information in the error message I am unable to help you.
One question: did you run the installer as an Administrator user?

iPod touch gets error -1303 when attempting to restore after update (W7).  This error is not shown anywhere in the specific list.  Have done all recommended recovery methods (reboot, update iTunes, restart iPod) to no avail. What is next?

Usually the 1303 error is in regards to a corrupted or missing backup of your iPod Touch.  Try removing or moving the backups to another location and then try to restore your iPod once again.

  • Update fails, uninstalls Adobe with an Error 1303

I had a employee report that he couldn't open PDF files.
I go to his machine, and thought thats strange Adobe Reader X isn't installed.  I re-installed and didn't think much about it.
About 10 minutes later he called again and it was missing again.
I delved into the issue and found that when the Updater is running, and executing because I have it set to automatically install updates, that it fails with an error:
error 1303 the installer has insufficient priviledges to access this directory: c:\program files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0.  The installation cannot continue.  Log on as an administrator or contact your system administrator.
I've tried taking ownership of the Adobe folder under c:\programdata\, and the one located in c:\program files(x86)\Common Files and inherited the correct permissions.
I've restarted the machine and the update always uninstalls Adobe, and then fails to install the update.
I was thinking it was Kaspersky that was interfering but as best I can tell I disabled the policy and each component from Kaspersky and it still fails to apply the update.
    Any ideas?
Also the user is an Administrator Account, I double checked.

Just chiming in to say that I'm seeing the same Adobe Reader update issue with a 64-bit Windows 7 machine (a ThinkPad T410s - also with the Nvidia+Intel switchable graphics setup).  I had tried uninstalling and re-installing, and the install then failed complaining about insufficient rights to the Adobe directory under c:\ProgramData...
The KB947821 Windows patch mentioned earlier in this thread is the "System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [May 2011]". Here's the description:
This tool is being offered because an inconsistency was found in the Windows servicing store which may prevent the successful installation of future updates, service packs, and software.
Installing it as I type...  OK... The Microsoft update complete successfully, but the Adobe Reader install failed again with the same error about c:\ProgramData\Adobe. I then re-applied the inheritable permissions from c:\programdata to the Adobe subdirectory and below...
The Adobe Reader then Installed successfully, and I'm fairly optimisitic that future updates will go smoothly as well.
Speaking of which, Adobe updates are too frequent and too visible. I get annoyed with how often Flash or Reader is getting some update or other... Ironically, I'm eager for another Reader Update now, to test this :-).

  • Sync error 1303

I've just got my first iPod, after many years of thinking "hmmm, everyone else has one, they must be good". Have to say at the minute i'm terribly disappointed!
I've imported my music collection (all fully-tagged MP3s), which I store on a network drive. I've also downloaded a few podcasts from iTunes.
When trying to sync with the iPod, I repeatedly get the "unknown error occurred -1303" message, which i've found relates to files being on different volumes (and so presumably linked to the network drives). However the drives definitely remain available, the connection is wired and there are no intermittent faults, and the drive is not spinning down or anything like that.
Sometimes I will get 5 files transferred before it breaks, other times I might get 100 done - seems totally random. It doesn't complain about any broken files, and i'm letting it automatically sync, though i'm not letting iTunes manage my music.
I've seen this error mentioned in the forums before, without any satisfactory response. So i'm hoping that someone might have a bright idea (note that i've just updated to iTunes 7.6, and it made no difference at all). Alternatively, a sensible way to contact Apple (or hear a response from them at least indicating exactly what the error means) about this would be handy - given that 0870 numbers will cost me 20p/minute I don't particularly want to call!
Really think the iPod could be nice, but if I can't sync it reliably then it's useless to me and will have to go back. Really hoping for a solution (or explanation) here so I can keep the thing!
    Cheers!
    David

    Just a quick update...
I saw the new firmware for the iPod today and though "yey they've probably fixed it". No such luck, added another couple of albums today and tried to sync them, and get exactly the same error: 1303.
    Absolute rubbish!

  • Can't install Reader 9 in Windows 7, Error 1303

Unable to install Adobe Reader 9.4.0 in windows 7.
    I get the following error
Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privilegest o access this directory. C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX. The installation cannot continue. Log on as an administrator or contact your system administrator
    Retry / Cancel
    Retry always fails
    Folders have full rights
    Account is administrator
Even ran IE as administrator in hopes this would help
Uninstalled all Adobe products and restarted, this did not help
Updated the security on the folders so the admin had full rights (this failed on a bunch of folders.)

Download the installer directly from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.4.0/en_US/AdbeRdr940_en_US.exe and save it to disk.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.3.1 won't install on Windows 7. Error 1303 on ActiveX directory.

    Hi,
I have tried searching in all the windows and adobe forums but couldn't find the answer to this problem. I had Adobe Acrobat running. I updated, not sure if it was 9.0 or 9.3 but it didn't install properly and it messed up my adobe installation. I removed all Adobe programs (Acrobat, Flash, Air) but the Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ActiveX directory is not accessble. The installer fails with Error 1303 saying it doesn't have permission to access this directory. I have tried Editing the Advanced properties to change the ownership but the owner is not visible and unchangeable. Please help me fix this. Due to this Acrobat cannot be installed and without PDF, its impossible to use so many programs.
I was running the installer as Administrator.
    Thanks.
    P.S.
Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.

Thanks. I was logged in as Admin. What helped was the age old proven solution for any Windows problem, a reboot. For some reason, some process was probably holding on to the lock. Some uninstaller forgot to ask me to reboot, or perhaps I forgot to reboot. Oh well.

I had the same problem listed.  The update uninstalled my old version and then bombed at installing the new versio with Error 1303.  Despite being an administrator, I did not have rights to change or delete the reader folder.  So I booted into safe mode then that gve me the ability to blow away the Reader folder.  I ran the installer again from Adobe.com and it went through fine.  Hope this works for you.

  • Repeated error from Intel integrated Graphics card in my brand-new B320

    Hi
I am getting repeated errors from the Intel Integrated Graphics card (on the Intel i3 chip as I understand it) in my brand-new B320.
I checked via a tool from Intel that my drivers were up-to-date (version 15.22.1.2361).
I checked via Device Manager Update Drivers that my driver was up-to-date.
I attempted to uninstall and re-install my driver BUT the uninstall reverted me to a VGA Adapter (so my screen was then running in a low res 800x600 mode!) and I could not even then see the Intel Integrated Graphics card in Device Manager to be able to re-install the driver against (even if I ran scan for new hardware): I had to restore to a System Restore Point - so the problem has of course come back.
I have even had one error where the screen then went completely blank and nothing would bring it back: I had to power off the PC (Ouch!)
PLEASE advise how I rectify this incredibly frustrating problem step-by-step.

    hey johnestlea,
i was going through the download list of the B320 here : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=156819
And could not find any driver with the version 15.22.1.2361 for the Intel Integrated Graphic Card. Where did you get that version ?

  • Can't Install Blackberry Desktop Manager - error 1303

Trying to install desktop manager and I get error message  "Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to acces this directory: C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\Blackberry\1003. The installation cannot continue. Log on as an administrator or contact your system administrator."
I am running Windows 7, Home Premium, SP1.
Any ideas please?  I am the administrator.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I can find no formal reference to that error...perhaps you may have better luck searching:
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
    Otherwise, I suggest this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
You may need to use the actual administrator account or an account with admin rights, and/or use the Run As Administrator option.
    Good luck!

  • Adobe Error 1303.  The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory:

Adobe Error 1303.  The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Programs Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0 when trying to update Adobe Reader 10.01 on a Windows 7, 64-bit machine.  What I've found is that once I allow Adobe Updater to download updates, the 1.0 folder is created under ARM.  As long as I don't start the update, I can access this folder.  Once the update starts, if I try to access this folder I get an access denied message and the install fails with the Error 1303 message.  I've tried making myself the Owner of the folder, tried running KB947821, have disabled the Firewall and shut off the UAC, none of which works.  My guess is that there is a problem with the update itself changing the security.
Anyone have any other ideas beyond waiting for the next update, that will hopefully work better than this one?
    thanks!
