Updates suppressed by administrator

Same problem as above posts.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing AfterEffects CS6, but still the same problem; CS6 wont open, and when I try to run the 11.0.3 AdobePatchInstaller, it gives me the following message (which is eroneous, since I am logged in as the Administrator, and their only solution was to de- and re-install AE anyway).
I also tried updating the Application Manager and it simply tells me that all my CS6 software is up to date, suggesting that it isn't factoring in the 11.0.3 update.

If it says that updates have been suppressed by the administrator, then it means that your software was distributed as part of an enterprise license agreement or similar, and the person who deployed the software disabled updates. This is sometimes the case for software deployed at educational institutions. This is something that you need to take up with your IT people who deployed your Adobe software.

I think I am getting two errors Todd.
First, it says I can not install the update because the administrator has surpressed updates. One, I am the administrator, and two, I didn't surpress updates.
Second, my Creative Cloud App will not load. It just spins the gear. I have JUST reinstalled it from your website to make sure it was current. I am logged in on the site and not running in trial mode on my iMac.

Todd, this is an Adobe Application Manager error, not an OS error. I had already turned off the Mac vault protection deal.

Updates "suppressed" by the administrator???

Back again. Same problem. The 'updates' item under the HELP menu in Photoshop in CS6 is dimmed out.
When I try to open a downloaded Camera Raw plug-in, I get the message that "Updates have been suppressed by the administrator."
How do I fix that?

Are you trying to update through the Photoshop app or the Creative Cloud Desktop app?
My PSCS6 (Win 8) won't update through the app, but it WILL through the CCD app.

We have Creative Cloud for teams.
I'm using a recent iMac running OS X Mavericks.
I can't update any of my CC apps.
The option to update is greyed out within each app (see image) and the Creative Cloud app tells me all apps are up-to-date. They are not.
InDesign particularly is really laggy / slow and stuck on 9.0. I want to update to 9.2.1
I've tried manually downloading the updates and installing them but am then given the message that updates have been suppressed by the administrator.
The Administrator for our CC for Teams assures me that nothing has been suppressed.
Now, when I log out of CC on my mac, and move to a different mac with an older OS (10.7.5) and log into CC there I can update on that mac with no issue. Everything is okay.
How can I enable updates on my mac running Mavericks?

Hi there – Answering my own question....
I've done a fair bit of snooping around and found how to fix my issue.
Posting here in case it helps anyone else.
So, if you have an issue on Mac OS X where Creative Cloud tells you all apps are up-to-date when you know for sure that they are not, or if updates are suppressed when they shouldn't be try removing thefollowing file:
<Startup Disk>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
Worked for me.
NB: Try this at your own risk. It worked for me, but I take no responsiblity if things go wrong.

Prevent App Store checking for updates in non-administrator accounts?

Once upon a time, software could only be installed from within an administrator's account. But with Mountain Lion software can be installed from within a "standard" account, as long as you enter the admin's name and password. And software update alerts from the App Store (and other vendors) now show up within standard accounts.
Is there a way to prevent the App Store from checking for software updates when a standard account is active? One of my users is almost totally computer illiterate; the update alerts completely confound her. Also, if the alerts are ignored in a standard account, they do not show up in the administrator's account until several days later -- or at all.
I'd really appreciate any help you can offer!

Thanks so much for checking, Carolyn. Unfortunately this workaround forces the App Store to check for updates in standard accounts: exactly what I'm trying to prevent. From what I can tell by searching, people seem to like this new behavior. I want it gone.

HELPP Changes in OM done directly should update in Personnel Administration

My client guy did changes in OM by directly moving persons into different positions and work flow doesnt work now. So is there any report i have to run so as to update the changes from OM to PA.

Please check if the OM to PA integration is set in the table T77s0. You can check this through the transaction sm30.
Or you can use the img node Organizational Management -> Integration -> Integration with Personnel Administration -> Set Up Integration with Personnel Administration.
Also try using the report RHINTE10 and RHINTE30 to correct the entries in PA.
You can execute these from transaction se38.

Unable to install update even as Administrator

I keep getting the "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again." message.
My solution has been to stop Firefox and then use Internet Explorer to download and install new version.
I would now like to sort out this problem.
System: Vista; Firefox 3.6.10 installed.
I go Program Files > Mozilla Firefox > Firefox.exe and 'Run as Administrator'.
Under 'Help' I click 'Install downloaded Update now.'
All I get is the same 'Update could not be installed' message.
Also tried: As Administrator stopped Firefox, rebooted; got same message when opening Firefox.
I had one message that Ancestry.com Advanced Viewer was not compatible with FF 3.6.11, but uninstalled the Ancestry viewer some time ago.
Any suggestions, or must I carry on using I.E to download new versions?

Used IE to download 3.6.11 succesfully about a week ago.
Today Firefox again began saying “Cannot install update” and “Firefox cannot find the file” before opening .htm pages.
Went to All Programs > Mozilla Firefox [Opened folder] > [Right-Clicked Mozilla Firefox in folder] > Open as Administrator
Firefox then installed 3.6.12 and opened correctly.
It seems things are getting a little better.

CS5 Updates only with Administrator Privileges?

Hi!
I installed CS5 Design Premium on several PCs in the company as administrator, the Users dont have administrator-privileges. The problem is, that CS5 does prompt for updates very often at the moment, and the users cant apply them. Is there a way to let them apply the updates without administrator privileges? I dont want to update this much PCs on my own and i dont want to give the users admin privs, of course

We made a "hack" to get this possibillity under CS4.
You have to look into "runaspc.exe" in order to get it to work.
That's the way we did it.
Not an ideal solution but Adobe has not yet managed to their updates to work with eg WSUS or similar.
They have however released their Adobe Update Server, but that doesn't help one bit as the update procedure still needs administrative rights.

It is by design. MS wants it that way.

ARD Administrator hangs with "Spinning Wheel of Death" after Apple Updates

Help! I added the required eight Apple Updates today (11/23/09) and Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) Administrator stopped working. The installed updates are iTunes, 9.0.3, Remote Desktop Client Update 3.3.1, Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 5 1.0, Security Update 2009-006 1.0, Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1, Safari 4.0.4, Performance Update 1.0, and iMovie Update 8.0.5.
Since these updates, the ARD Administrator hangs up (spinning wheel) when trying to activate it. I receive the error message:
The Remote Desktop Administrator software failed to start due to an unexpected error. The Remote Desktop software may not be installed correctly, or the computer may require a restart. [Quit]
I have tried restarts, poweroffs, etc., but the ARD Administrator stills hangs. What can I do to reverse the last ARD update?

Without java, Safari is just as fast as Firefox. And if you do for some reason need java, you can use Firefox instead (as I had to, to log into the Apple Discussions" page.
Safari is faster than Firefox. There are very few sites that need use Java, so unless you know a site uses it, it should always be disabled. And for clarification, no part of the Apple web site uses Java, so there's no reason to have it activated.

Can't update administrative install to 9.1.2

I'm trying to add an update to my administrative install for Acrobat Pro. I first made an administrative install for Acrobat Pro 9.0. I then added the update AcroProStd910_T1T2_incr.msp to it with a command of the form
msiexec /a \\server\share\acropro.mis /p c:\AcroProStd910_T1T2_incr.msp
I then applied AcrobatUpd911_all_incr.msp in the same way. After that I tried to add AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp in the same way. It appears to start the update and then gives the following error:
Error 2602. The File table entry 'Annots.api_911' has no associated entry in the media table.
I could install Acro Pro from the msi that was updated with AcrobatUpd911_all_incr.msp (prior to applying AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp) and it installs. I can then do an Adobe update and update it to 9.1.2. So, I assume my admin install with 9.1.1 is OK. I just don't seem to be able to update my admin install to 9.1.2. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

In an attempt to get this straightened out I made an administrative install of Acrobat Pro 9.0.0 with no updates and then installed it on a Vista computer. I then used Adobe updater to see what it wanted to do to update it. Instead of trying to update to 9.1.0, then 9.1.1 then 9.1.2 Adobe updater wanted to go directly to 9.1.2. So, I thought perhaps that's the problem - Perhaps I should skip the intermediate updates and update my 9.0.0 with AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp. When I attempt to do so it says:
The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer Service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.
So, what is the correct procedure to create an administrative install for Acrobat Pro 9? Do I need to install 9.1.0, 9.1.1 and 9.1.2? If so, why am I getting the error described in my previous post?
Note: I'm making these admin installs using a Vista system.

Adobe Premiere 12 Silent Install - How to Suppress Updates, EULA, Registration

Hi, I've created a silent deployment of x86 Adobe Premiere Elements 12 using the following command line
cmd /c start/wait OEM.exe /UL1033 /V"SERIALNUMBER=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX COUNTRY=12"
I've put the application.xml.override (UTF-8 encoded file, contents shown below) into the root of install source (same directory as oem.exe) and also into the ElementsOrganizer sub-folder.

Yes this is possible. I am not sure why you created the packages with updates turned off, I assume it suited at the time, the reason I bring this up is. By using the Enterprise IT Tool RUM (Remote Update Manager) you could continue to keep updates turned off so the client doesn't manually try and bring them in but instead only does so when you send a command to the clients. The command would be issued to clients through a 3rd party deployment tool like SCCM, Casper, Alteris. This way they are installed as admin and only on your designated schdule. This might not be appealing but I wanted to make you aware of it. The Enterprise Deployment guide will give you more information about the overide file required to change the update options and RUM can be found in Adobe Labs http://labs-staging.macromedia.com/technologies/aameetools/

when i m trying to Launch the Update from the help menu of Adobe Bridge it pops-up with a error messge instead of launching update.
The error says

Bridge is not in a position to check for updates.
The cause of the error may lie in the fact that an Internet connection can be established or that you are logged in as a user without administrator privileges.

1) Adding the Enterprise DWORD value in registry HKLM\Software\Adobe\Updater

Apologies I dont think I had made myself clear.
I am trying to package Adobe Photoshop CS4 which has Adobe Bridge as a component. As per the company standards, I am suppossed to be deploying this package & installing it using silent setup. Since this is a corporate environment, they do not want any auto updates to be enabled, as well as disable all menu items related to updates. Hence I had checked through the Adobe Support Site and followed the instructions provided by using the Adobe Deployment Toolkit and supressed the updates using the tool.
Inspite of following the steps mentioned in the Deployment Kit and the guides associated with it, I was unable to supress the Updates options that reflects under Help Menu for Adobe Bridge CS4. All the other associated programs like photoshop, Extend Scripts etc the updates are disabled. The problem seems to be only with the Adobe Bridge Update.
