Updates to NWDS

Hi
Where can I find details on what bug fixes / changes are included in the updates to NWDS?
Thanks

Thanks Viliana
I see this isn't kept up to date. The latest patch for NetWeaver CE 7.1 is Patch 7, but the site only has documentation up to Patch 6.
Additionally, this only includes information on the Application Server patch releases, but no details on the updates that are released every few months for the NWDS IDE. Good user experience design would dictate that details of these updates are available from within the product (i.e. I should be able to go to Help and find out what has changed with each release / patch to the IDE).
Even worse... the details for Patch 6 is a single line saying: "This support package only contains corrections."
We need to know what these corrections are! Surely SAP doesn't blindly install updates to Unix / Windows operating systems without knowing the details of the update. So how can SAP customers be expected to blindly update their SAP systems without similar details?
Any comments?

  • Unable to update features using the NWDS Update Manager

I'm updating the NWDS and selecting the features to install from https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/710
It hung midway while downloading:: plugins/com.sap.engine.clientapis_2.0.0.101103141034.jar (9928K of 10560K bytes)
I had to force kill the NWDS and when I restarted it and tried to update the features again, it doesn't try to download the clientapis jar that failed to download before. I don't find this jar in the eclipse\plugins folder either, so why does it skip this jar?
By the way, the features to install automatically listed were as below:
      - SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio CE 7.1 SP11 PAT000
       - SAP Netweaver Developer Studio Java EE 8.0.110000.101103141042
       - SAP Netweaver Developer Studio Development Infrastructure Client 8.0.110000.101103141042
       - SAP Netweaver Developer Studio Web Dynpro User Interfaces 8.0.110000.101103141042
       - SAP Netweaver Developer Studio Composition Tools 8.0.110000.101103141042
Now it gets repeatedly hung while downloading the jar file
plugins/com.sap.devmanual.doc.user_1.1....818085804.jar everytime I kill and restart and try to update.
The way I update is from the Help menu->Install/Update->Search for new features to install.
In the "Product Configuration" I see the below
    - SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio
      - E:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\CE\eclipse
        - SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Platform 8.0.110000.101103141042
           -Eclipse Platform 3.3.0.v20070612-_19UEkLEzwdF0jSqQ-G
               - Eclipse RCP 3.3.0.v20070607-8y8eE8NEbsN3X_fjWS8HPNG
           - SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Composition Environment 7.1.7.1.0.101103141042
Can someone please help understand what is happening and how to get the update manager working, before I get fired from my job for showing no productivity since 2 days? If it is a matter of the mirror being down, can you tell how I can choose a different mirror for a site in the Eclipse Update Manager?

Is there any issue with connection to the network(internet) fromt he NWDS?
Usually, NWDS is unable to connect to network due to incorrect Network Connection parameters.
As a workaround, try to locate an existign installation of the NWDS with all the plugins. Ontain those files and save it in your NWDS folder.

  • Unable to Update NWDS 7.20 SP09

    Hi
I have downloaded the package for NWDS 7.20 SP09 to support some development for a customer at that patch level.  However, when I try to connect to the update site I have encountered the errors listed in this thread NWDS update not possible via https and have tried those solutions.  I am connected directly to the internet with NO proxy.  I have been able to get to the policy page in my browser where I am able to log on with my S-User
Is there somewhere I can download a local copy of the files I need and then use the option to install from a file location rather than from a remote site?  I recall this was previously possible but cannot find a place where I can download this now.
    Thank you for any assistance,

This should be the correct download link:

  • Updating non-SAP plugins in Eclipse/NWDS

    Hello Community,
i updated my Developer Studio (CE 7.1) from SP3 to SP5 and from SP5 to SP6 using
    "find and install ..."
    "currently installed features"
and i used the sap-server as update server.
Unfortunately only the com.sap.* packages got updated, all other packages/plugins still remain as they were at installation-time. (wtp2.0.0, jpa1.0.0 ...).
As i remember in 7.0 sap discouraged developers to update their eclipse/studio, but in 7.1 we are no more discouraged to do so, right?
What is the easiest way to update my non-sap eclipse plugins and eclipse core?
I want do do a minor upgrade, only bug fixes. (1.0.0 to 1.0.x, not 1.0.0 to 1.x.x), hoping that all sap plugins will still work after the patch.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi There,
A mapping exists between business partners in SAP CRM and customers in SAP
ERP (in both directions). You can display and configure this mapping using
transaction PIDE in the ERP system. Basically the Account classification in SAP CRM system is mapped to account group in SAP ERP.
So in your case, in SAP ERP , there might be account group prospect mapped to account classification contact for SAP CRM.
Check PIDE transaction in SAP ERP and you can control it from there.
For detailed information on how to set up the data exchange for business partners
see Best Practice Documentation (Building Block C03: CRM Master and
    Transaction Data Replication).
    Hope it helps.

  • NWDS 7.31 SP11 p2 - update issue - can not read repository

    Hello Experts at SAP,
I have a brand new NWDS 7.31 Sp11 P2 installation and want to test the update (although I know its the latest version).
Firstly I found that the preconfigured upgrade path is wrong on that patch level. There is one / too much between NWDS and NW in the url.
OK i fixed that.. Now I get the error below.
Unable to read repository at https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/731/content.xml
I checked certificates, etc. that's not the issue, all green when I test the url in explorer.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Don't want to reinstall manually and transfer all the stuff when an update is available (assuming the update function does that for me)
    regards
    Oliver

I just found a clue, seems to be a certificate issue but can someone help to resolve it ? Issue log below..

  • Deploying my first web dynpro java application through NWDS 7.3 giving error

    hi all,
i am new to webdynpro java. i am basically a xi consultant, but due to some work need to work on webdynpro java as well.
i went through the blog Web Dynpro Tutorial: Hello World
    i am using NWDS 7.3
i created web dynpro project as per above blog. on the last step, it says to deploy it on SAP system.
now i have access to PI7.1 system only, though in our landscape, we have ECC system, EP system, BI system etc.
i guess the above webpage is referring to getting it deployed on EP system - but i have access to only PI7.1 system - in NWDS 7.3 in window - preferences - SAP AS Java - i have added PI7.1 system and it is showing there.
now on right-clicking web dynpro application, and selecting deploy new archive and run - it is not deploying and the web-page gives error 404 - not found. The requested resource does not exist.
can the web dynpro application be deployed on PI7.1 system?
pls suggest how to resolve this error. thanks.

i have downloaded NWDS7.1 through this link
    https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/
used the first option - Download latest NWDS_platform.zip release
    the zip file got downloaded.
on trying to install through IDEsetup.exe - now i am getting error in installation - The installer cannot run in the 32-bit sub-system on a 64-bit architecture.
how to solve this error - i tried installing jdk-6u7-windows-x64.exe and jdk-6u18-windows-x64.exe - but still the error remains same.
So how to install NWDS7.1 on my system? please tell. thanks.

    Dear Rajesh,
First of all, I am able to see that there are two JREs/JDKs present in your PC. JDK/JRE 1.5 Update 8 and JDK/JRE 1.5 Update 14. First Uninstall both of these. Then remove any traces of JDKs (including Internet Explorer Plugin) and that of the error/failed installation of NWDS from C:\Program Files\SAP\.
Then install JDK 1.5 update 14. Then NWDS IDEsetup.
I hope you had a proper download of the Zip file (after extraction of which you got the folder containing the IDEsetup.exe) from the NWDS update site URL. That is for example the zip file is 100 MB, I hope you had a full download of this 100 MB.
You can refer to this link if you have issues while updating the NWDS after install. Please remember to put your proxy details in NWDS preferences if you are under LAN proxy.

  • NWDS - Build EJB Archive not possible

    Hi there!
Recently I updated my NWDS from version 2.0.15 to version 2.0.16.
My workspace mainly consists of 2 EJB Module projects, 1 Web Module Project and 1 Enterprise Application project.
The EAR project bundles the modules to an enterprise application.
Before updating the NWDS, everything regarding build & deployment worked fine. But now I'm facing the problem that I cannot build the EJB Archives anymore. The menu entry for building the JAR is inactive. Also, when I try to build the whole EAR application, the EJB module archives are missing in the EAR.
I've already tried to create new module projects and copy all sources to the new project. Once the archive build worked, but after restarting NWDS, the problem came up again.
Does anybody has an idea about this issue? Maybe this is a known bug of version 2.0.16?
    Any help is highly appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Matthias

    Hi all!
I'm still having this problem. It seems to handle with a problem of org.eclipse.jface-plugin.
Because, in these corrupted projects, I cannot access ejb-j2ee-engine.xml file correctly.
Each time I'm clicking on a bean listed in this file, I get an error message "An error has occured. See error log for more details."
Ok, the details in the logs are pretty poor:
!MESSAGE Problems occurred when invoking code from plug-in: "org.eclipse.jface".
    !STACK 0
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at com.sap.ide.eclipse.j2ee.model.ui.sapejbjar.internal.description.UISapEjbJarDescriptionEnterpriseBean.refreshSpecificUIFromData(UISapEjbJarDescriptionEnterpriseBean.java:486)
So finally, the menu entry "Build EJB Archive" is still inactive and I'm getting slightly mad with this tool.
If anybody of you has expierience with similar behavior of NWDS, PLEASE HELP!
    Kind regards,
    Matthias

  • NWDS installation issue - "Please wait... completing the install"

    Hi all,
I got the same "Problem" each time I update my NWDS.
[Re: NWDS installation issue.|Re: NWDS installation issue.]
After the installation, when I start the NWDS I get always the message:
    "Please wait... completing the install"
If I create a new Workspace this really solves the problem but I don't like to create every time a new workspace after an update and copy all my projects back to this new workspace.
Is there no other solution around? I think I'm not the only one who has this troubles, am I?
    Regards,
    Stefan

    Hi all,
I solved this problem by myself. So for everyone who is interested in how to solve this problem:
Just delete the folder .config in
    \workspace\.metadata\
During the next start of NWDS this folder will be created and everything will work as excpected!

    Dear Experts,
When i try to generate a proxy classes (using NWDS 7.1 CE) for the WSDL file given by PI team,
my generated classes have service.getHTTP_PORT() instead of service.getMyOperationPort().
by this, please let me know, if my proxy classes are generated correctly, if not what should i do to generate them correctly.

    HI,
You are not able to see all those options becuase the NWDs might be not installed completely.
Open NWDS & Goto Help --> software updates, it will update the NWDS from SAP market place and then you may be able to see all those options.
    Thanks

  • Errors in the installation of Netweaver 7.1and NWDS 7.1

    Hi SDN,
1 )I installed Netweaver 7.1 evaluation version in one of our server whose configuration is given below.
    OS :Windows Server 2003 (SP1) (32 bit)
    RAM: 3 GB
    CPU: Pentium 4 CPU 3GHz.
During installation i reveived a message 'system requirement not met for OS and paging file size'. but i managed to install sucessfully and the server is running fine.
But i didnt get the user <sysid>adm which will be created during installation.
    2) Another issue is with NWDS 7.1 installation.I installed NWDS 7.1 in my system whose config is
OS: WinXP (SP2), RAM: 1 GB (i know min requiremnt is 2GB). During the installation by default it took the update site URL as the local disk path where  i have the exe file.
At the final stage it tried to update the NWDS but ended with the following error.
Requested operation cannot be performed because it would invalidate the current configuration. See details for more information.
An exception occured while downloading feature from "file:/Z:/My Disc (E)/DevStudio/CE71_03_JAVA_IDE/features/org.eclipse.jst.common_sdk.feature_2.0.0.v200706041905-4--7z53A46_4E5I5A38598x42292.jar".
Z:\My Disc (E)\DevStudio\CE71_03_JAVA_IDE\features\org.eclipse.jst.common_sdk.feature_2.0.0.v200706041905-4--7z53A46_4E5I5A38598x42292.jar (The system cannot find the file specified)
So I cancelled that step and continued. when i try to configure NWDS to work with J2ee engine, in  windows--> preferrence menu i dont find the AS JAVA node.
    3) After that i manually downloaded that particular jar and tried to place in that folder but i got a error like
"cannot copy <filename>: the file name you specified is not valid or too long. specify another name."
In the whole path i mentioned above, i am able to paste that file upto the folder 'DevStudio' but from tha CE71_03 folder not allowing to paste.
    4) Then i copied that DevStudio folder alone to a separate location, after which i was able to paste that jar file into that 'features' folder. now installed from this folder but again i got the same error when it searches for new features at the end. but now the jar file is placed in that folder.
Please help on these issues. it is very urgent.

  • CE Update Site

    Hi,
I want to update my NWDS version to match the CE version through the local update site provided by the AS Server ( http:///updatesite), but i won´t work. I get an error message, it´s like i didn´t have the required role to access this site. Do you have any idea about solving this problem?
    Best regards.

    Hi
Local update site is there in NWDS itself ,and automatically detected after installation(or later can be accessed from help s/w update --manage confi),
better u install NWDS for CE  from SDN (no need of any SAP market Id), and will update once install
try [this|Configure NWDS 7.0.14 for CE 7.1] for some input.

neither installing NWDS 7.2. from CD nor directly from https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/index.html does work on an x64 version of Windows 7.
It seems the bundled VS-redistributable is only shipped for x86 systems which breaks the installer.
I know the prerequisites explicitly state that only x86 systems are supported but... WTF!
ALL new notebooks and workstations with a decent amount of RAM are shipped on x64.
Is there any way to get it running under x64?
    Thanks!

    Hi ,
I tried to open the NWDS 7.2 which was download in the link provided in the thread(NWDS_Platform).
I am getting the below pop up
    Current JVM
You have to use a JDK as a JVM instead of a JRE
      Current JVM:
        Sun Microsystems Inc. JRE 1.6.0_33
        java.home = C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6
      Supported JVMs:
JDK provided by SAP AG: java.version 1.6.0_07 or higher
JDK provided by Sun Microsystems Inc.: java.version 1.6.0_07 or higher
A JDK is not the same as a JRE. If a JDK is required, a JRE is not sufficient
    Could you please help?
I could not find any to make the JDK entry.
I have installed both the J2sdk1.4 and JDK1.6 since i am using the NWDS 7.01 version also.
    My system is Windows 7 - 64 bit (C:\Program Files (x86))...
    Thanks.
