Updates to RH 2000 HTML

I have a licenced version of RoboHELP 2000 HTML (originally purchased when RH was under Bluesky) which I've been using for years to develop .CHM project files and manuals shipped with our .exe based software.
Our company is shortly to develop a new web-based application and so it makes sense to use some kind of eHelp, to access html Help pages and stylesheets on our own (or on the client's own) server.
Could somebody advise me as to what kind of updates to RH HTML 2000 I'll need in order to produce suitable, context-sensitive help pages that would be accessible via links within our forthcoming product?
Tips in designing the Help project would also be welcome!

Hi TFC1 and welcome to the RH community.
That is a very old copy of RH you have there and the product has come on in leaps and bounds since then and you may be pleasently surprised as to what it can do now compared to the version you have. You can download a fully working trial of RH8 (the latest version) here if you want to take a peek. That said, it is possible for you to produce a web based output from that version.
On a more general note, there are different output formats that you can consider when outputting to a web/server interface. The most popular is WebHelp which produces a collection of files that are published to your web/server location. The design of the help is pretty much the same as for locally based help files (e.g. a CHM file). The only major change is that webhelp uses a skin that can be customised to give the help file a particularl look and feel. The good news is however that a default (and IMHO very acceptable) skin is supplied out of the box.

Updating content of index.html file of J2EE Engine

I would like to update the content of index.html file, which is located under D:\usr\sap\NSP\JC01\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\com.sap.engine.docs.examples\servlet_jsp\_default\root\index.html.
I have requirement to change the html file content with latest news and we want to access this latest news through http://host:port/index.html ( to avoid authentication to server). In this html file I will plase link to connect to portal.
The problem is updated content of this html file is not displaying in the browser. It is taking from cache. How to avoid this cache problem.

I think you wish to change your logon screen, this will not be done simply by changing the index.html

Can not update MS-Acess 2000 db; currently locked

Running CFMX7, IIS6 on Win2k3. Using <unfortunately>
multiple Ms-Access 2000 mdbs. One application in particular is
erroring out constantly. I have "maintain connections" unchecked.
Line 86 is the location of the update query. The update query DOES
NOT use CFUPDATE...it uses CFQUERY with update statement inside.

I did eventually get it to work. The most important piece was
changing the CF datasource type from MS-Acess to ODBC-Socket.
Making this change was the single biggest improvement I could
have made. It must be because even though the CF Datasource type
says MS-Access, it's actually using a JDBC-ODBC bridge, whereas the
ODBC-Socket is using the "old" or "previous" method of using ODBC
directly. So you need to make sure you have an existing ODBC entry
in the windows odbc administrator (odbcad32.exe).

Dreamweaver template to update file other than html?

I am using Dreamweaver CS4 to manage my website.
The problem is i cannot get Dreamweaver to update my .tpl (php template)

I finally figure it out how to get if fix.
May be i should say it clear, i use dreamweaver template which is a dwt file to update all html pages in my website.
But some of the file i use which is tpl extension (the same as html file but with template variables). The dreamweaver
did not recognize it. The page did not show up when i make changes in dwt file.
Then what i do is change the "configuration" > "DocumentTypes", so that dreamweaver recognize tpl as a type of html file.
After that i change extension.txt file also. Rebuild site cache. And now its done.

CS6 update erased favorites; text & html tags gone

Today's update of Dreamweaver appears to have erased my favorites. In addition, when I go to restore my favorites I find there are NO text tags available and no text tab in the toolbar!

Is this a "Feature" of paying for software on subscription so that I can get incremental updates like this?

I want to use the latest version of Dreamweaver. That's why I pay a monthly subscription. I don't want to be rolling back to restore points and messing other things that might have changed in the interim.
I completely uninstalled CS6 using Windows uninstall. Then I used the AdobeCreativeSuiteCleanerTool to remove all traces of my CS5.5 Design Premium legacy files. (No idea if this was necessary; just being thorough)
Then I used the CS6 Application manager and reinstalled Dreamweaver.
Dreamweaver is now restored to version 12.0 <-- not the 12.1 I had been running when I had trouble.
I now have Insert > HTML > Text Objects
And the Insert panel now contains the Text tab
And now -- immediately after installing the application -- I'm told that I have an update available:
I have work to do. I'm not going to install version 12.1 just to prove that it is the problem.
IF someone can show me that they have version 12.1 installed and they have the Text tab in the Insert panel, I'd love to see proof. And perhaps an explanation of how they managed that.

Can't install Updater and view my HTML page online!

I do have the most recent version of Macromedia Dreamweaver
MX 2004 ver. 7.0.1. But I was trying to install the updater anyway.
As I was trying to install the Updater I received a Severe Error
message which says: "This folder does not contain Dreamweaver MX
2004." This happens when I choose the destination as to where I
should install the files. And I do have Dreamweaver installed on my
machine. Although I probably don't need the updater, I wanted to
install it because I am having problems viewing my html file (which
embeds an swf) when I upload it to the server. I can view it
locally but when I view the page online, it just hangs there
forever.
I sent my html file to someone else and she was able to
upload it to her server and when I viewed her source code, I
noticed that she had some JavaScript. When I asked her about it,
she said that the JS file that's in the html was automatically
added by Dreamweaver to overcome the Microsoft click to activate
limitation. The script writes the Flash embed code to the page
dynamically. That didn't happen for me, so I'm confused as why my
html page which embeds Flash can't be viewed online correctly.

That only means that it doesn't contain DW7.0 - which you
already know.
Since you have already updated to 7.0.1, this is the expected
error message
when you try to update again.

Not if you are using 7.0.1 it doesn't. A look at your page
would reveal
all, though.

Since the update force fed today, HTML editors no longer work in the admin area of our ASP powered website. Is this being fixed?

As noted, HTML editor no longer works in an ASP environment after today's forced update. What is being done to fix this?

About the HTML editor: is in the admin side of aspdotnetstorefront shopping cart software. It is used when entering new products for sale in the database.

Updated - Cursor focus in HTML text field in JEditorPane

The last poster just save my bacon - so an update for others: Adding a JEditorPane to a JWindow will result in all the <INPUT type=text> form elements to be non focusable. Switching to JFrame does make things work again - but I would love to have a JWindow again (I don't want the title bar for a kiosk type operation).

How do I make cursor focus go into an HTML text field in a JEditorPane?
My test appplication is a JPanel containing a JEditorPane and nothing else. The content type is text/html. The HTML text contains a form and an INPUT TYPE=TEXT tag. I use setEditable(false) because I do not want the user to edit the paragraph text, only to type in the text field.
The text field does not get cursor focus. Tab does nothing. The user can click with the mouse to place focus in the text field, so the field is capable of receiving focus. I guess the field is in a View that stops it participating in the component hierarchy.
Is there a way to make this work?
** SOLUTION! - ok, if you don't use JWindow
It turns out that setEditable(false) is not enough. The JEditorPane still gets in the way of the focus cycle. It also needs setFocusCycleRoot(false) and setFocusable(false) to prevent it from participating in focus. Focus on the text field then works normally.

able to pull them in to the update page, though you might
have to manually
edit some code.
However, this also means you will always have a link present
that bots will
hit (and thus will update your database). Is this what you're
looking for?
It certainly doesn't sound like the best method.

MXI-3 blue screen when updating to windows 2000 service pack 3 or 4

I have na host computer with windows 2000, and a PXI chassis connected through MXI-3 (cooper wires). I have a 6025E, a 5102, a 5112, a pickering DMM, and two pickering switch-cards in it. Updating windows is not possible. It didn't work months ago when windows 2000 service pack came out and it doesn't work now with windows 2000 service pack 4 -Blue screeen of death is the verdict!
Any ideas about the posible problem and a cure?

The first thing we need to determine is the cause of the problem. Right now, I see two possible causes. First, the problem could be with the OS on your computer. Second, the problem could be with the MXI-3 interface. In order to determine which is causing the blue screen, I recommend removing the PCI-MXI-3 board from the computer before you install the service pack. If the service pack will successfully install, then we know the problem was with the MXI-3 board. You can then try to reinstall the board. If the installation is not successful, then we know the problem is not connected with the MXI-3 system. In that case, you may need to contact Microsoft for further assistance.
