Updates to User Manuals

Having finally resolved my issues with getting my RAM working at 1066  I am now wondering when new manual updates will be available online for some of these motherboards.
My P45 Platinum manual supplied with the motherboard appears identical to the pdf file available online, but both omit several settings in BIOS v1.0.
There have been several further additional BIOS settings with the updates to the current BIOS v1.5, all with no explanation as to their functions or meanings.
When some of the settings have such meaningful names as Mode 1, Mode 2 and Setting 1, Setting 2... etc., it would be nice to actually know what these functions do and how they affect the system.
Unfortunately, unless you are using one of the new UEFI Click BIOS, you cannot go online and search the Forums to check what a particular setting means when you are adjusting BIOS, so you generally want a hard copy nearby when you come across a BIOS option not mentioned in the manual.

I don't expect a beginner's guide - what I expect is an explanation of each function, when new functions are introduced to BIOS.
To give an example of the importance of this I suggest you consider the fan speeds and CPU temperature settings. What if they just said Setting 1, Setting 2, etc.? - how useful would that be to anyone?
As senior systems analyst myself - if a member of my team produced a piece of code for a new function with no documentation I would reject the work and send them away to finish the job properly. I don't have time to examine every piece of code (produced by up to 50 programmers on major projects), line by line to check it's functionality.
Perhaps you should consider this approach if you ever seek a position in the computer industry?

  • User manual updates

Does anyone know if the on-line iphone user manual (which to me is very good as these things go) is a "live" document that is updated on an ongoing basis to address user issues and questions? Or do they hold their edits and periodically announce the posting of an updated manual? Thanks.

for what its worth - I ran an Acrobat compare and obtained the following information:
    Text Comparison
    Documents Compared
    iPhone User's Guide.pdf
    iPhoneUserGuide.pdf
    Summary
    136 word(s) added
    161 word(s) deleted
    31120 word(s) matched
    7 block(s) matched
Looks like the changes are editorial in nature.

  • Any Way to Save a pdf User Manual?

I seem to recall that in previous versions of FCS apps, including Motion, you had the Help option to open (usually in Preview) a pdf User Manual. From there, via the Print dialog, you could do a "Save as PDF", into the folder of your choice.
I often like to have a searchable User Manual which I can access without having to launch the app itself. So I created a special folder into which I would save separate pdf copies of user manuals which had been incorporated into the apps themselves. But in Motion 4, all I'm seeing is an HTML Help Document, and trying to "Save as PDF" via the Print window only seems to let me save the one currently visible page, nothing more.
So -- is there still any way to create a separate, searchable User Manual for Motion (and for the other FCS3 apps), or have even pdf help documents gone the way of those two-ton paper manuals of yesteryear?
    Thanks,

Yeah, the PDF functionality is lost within the FCS3 apps themselves. The Pro Apps team wanted to be able to continually update the Help files, so they were made (exclusively) web-based.
That resulted in a bit of an outcry. Thankfully, the team listened, we have to now visit the Help pages for each app (here's the one for Motion) and open/download from the View as PDF link.

  • Updating the User Status in Sales Order Item

    Dear Gurus,
Iam trying to update the User Status on the SO item using STATUS_CHANGE_EXTERN function module and the status is successfully getting updated.
But the problem is if Iam updating the status it has to delete the Purchase Requisition assgined to it, which is not happening.. whereas when Iam manually changing the Status, the PR is getting deleted.. Can anyone suggest some other function module or some other way of doing it other than BDC?
    Best Regards,
    Sreenivas.

    Hi ,
I am also need to update the Item user status. Could you please provide me the logic for the FM 'STATUS_CHANGE_EXTERN'. And also let me know the where we need to write the logic in VA01/VA02.
It would be helpful me a lot.
    Thanks

  • I want to check all functions of PCI 6534.I have read the user manual..I have some memory related questions. Please help me for that.

I want to check all functions of PCI 6534.I have read the user manual..I have some memory related questions. Please help me for that.
1.)If i am using the continuous output mode.and the size of generated data is less than 32 MB.If i want to preload the memory, what should i do?I want that first of all i load all my data to onboard memory & then i want to make start the transfer between 6534 & peripheral. Is it possible? As per me it should be.Plz tell me how should i do this?I think that in normal procedure the transfer between 6534-peripheral & outputting data from pc buffer to onboard memory works parallely. But i don't want this.Is it poss
    ible?
(2).Similarly in finite input operation(pattern I/O) is it possible to preload the memory and then i read it?Because i think that the PC memory will be loaded automatically when 6534 acquires the data and then when we use DIO read vi the pc buffer data will be transferred to application buffer. If this is true,i do not want this.Is it possible?
    (3) One more question is there if i am using normal operation onboard memory will be used bydefault right? Now if i want to use DMA and if i have data of 512 bytes to acquire. How will it work and how should i do it?Please tell me the sequence of operations. As per my knowledge in normal DMA operation we have 32 Bytes FIFO is there so after acquisition of 32 bytes only i can read it.How it will known to me that 32 bytes acquisition is complete?Next,If i want to acquire each byte separately using DMA interrupts what should i do?Provide me the name of sourse from which i can get details about onboard memory & DMA process of 6534 specifically
(4).In 6534 pattern Input mode,if i want to but only 10 bits of data.and i don't want to waste any data line what should i do?

    Hi Vishal,
I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.
    1) It is definitely possible to preload data to the 32MB memory (per group) and start the acquisition after you have preloaded the memory. There are example programs on ni.com/support under Example Code for pattern generation and the 6534 that demonstrate which functions to use for this. Also, if your PC memory buffer is less than 32MB, it will automatically be loaded to the card. If you are in continuous mode however, you can choose to loop using the on-board memory or you can constantly be reading the PC memory buffer as you update it with your application environment.
    2) Yes, your data will automatically be loaded into the card's onboard memory. It will however be transferred as quickly as possible to the DMA FIFO on the card and then transferred to the PC memory buffer through DMA. It is not going to wait until the whole onboard memory is filled before it transfers. It will transfer throughout the acquisition process.
    3) Vishal, searching the example programs will give you many of the details of programming this type of application. I don't know you application software so I can't give you the exact functions but it is easiest to look at the examples on the net (or the shipping examples with your software). Now if you are acquiring 512 bytes of data, you will start to fill your onboard memory and at the same time, data will be sent to the DMA FIFO. When the FIFO is ready to send data to the PC memory buffer, it will (the exact algorithm is dependent on many things regarding how large the DMA packet is etc.).
    4) If I understand you correctly, you want to know if you waste the other 6 bits if you only need to acquire on 10 lines. The answer to this is Yes. Although you are only acquiring 10 bits, it is acquired as a complete word (16bits) and packed and sent using DMA. You application software (NI-DAQ driver) will filter out the last 6 bits of non-data.
Hope that answers your questions. Once again, the example code on the NI site is a great place to start this type of project. Have a good day.

  • End User Manual

    Hi SAP Gurus,
We are currently want to create the end user manual for the users at client.
I want to know what are the different  details that should be maintained in the End User Training Manual.
Should we enter screen shots and any question answer  in the same.
If any one has the template , can mail me at [email protected]
Also What is the concept Power User.?
Edited by: Kapil Joshi on Dec 27, 2007 7:27 PM

    Hi Kapil,
You can use Info Pack for the documentation in that you just key in the data for the various transation and system capture all the screen shots as well as Path T codes and Settings to be entered it is very good tool.
Once you have that you can start from SPRO with Enterprise structure and all modules seprately and can prepare the documents.
Power Users are Super Users who have the authorisation for Modify, Update and Input and some timeCustomise also.
    Cheers!!
    Biren Agnihotri
Every customisation is diffrent from another so a standard template will not be of any help.

  • How to desing in A5 format user manual - ideas, showcase?

I would like to make useful and nice user manual for our customers
    Our workflow is:
I get the Word 2007 styled (from me given) chapters with text and images.
After that I would like to create one ID file from that files. As a book perhaps?
In any case one imported Word file = one INDD file for each chapter. I want to hold it separately for better using – updates – change of chapter orders and so one.
Exist any source for inspiration how to design and structure that document in ID?
The TOC – structure is more or less clear for me, but I am interested in design, where to place images, where text.
    Thank you

    Edward,
When using the htmldb_item API, your columns are no longer number or date columns, but varchar2 columns. They contain all the HTML tags required to render the forms fields. In order to use the column formatting attributes, you need to use the built-in display types, like “Display as Text”. Besides being able to format your number values, you will also be able to more easily process your data using the built-in multi row update processes, because they are already aware of formatting strings, so you would be able to save your number values without having to convert them back into unformatted number values first.
    Regards,
    Marc

  • APP -  CONFIGURATION & END USER MANUAL

    Hi All
I need configuraiton & end user manual of automatic payment programme.

    hi
    Automatic payment programme
The Automatic Payment Program does not check the Balance of your Bank Account.(GL A/c. Bal.)
What it does check is the min & max amounts that you have maintained in your customisation.
In  FBZP Transaction (type in easy access screen), you have to maintain the config for your automatic payment runs.
In Bank determination (in FBZP), you have to fill in the available amounts  for  each Bank. This is the maximum amount up to which payments will be generated by the Auto. Pay. Run.
So if you want to ensure that on any single day the payment run does not pay more than bank balance, you have to update on a daily basis available balance to match with your bank balance .
In SPRO you can find the customisation for A P Run, but FBZP is the old transaction for the same thing. Plus it lets you do all the related customisation, in one place.
As far as I know, there is no direct way of linking your GL account balance to the A P Run.

  • Where can I find the X200 User Manual?

    Group,
I've searched all variables I could think of here to no avail.
I also have tried several times to track it down on Lenovo's site.  I can repair it and trouleshoot it with the documentation I've found.
But, I'd also like to be able to "run" it.  My new X200 should be here today/tomorrow and I'd really like to RTFM before it gets here.
Thanks for any leads someone can provide.
    Bob
X200 noob. A "few" years ago, my first PC was an IBM XT with a blazing 8.66 MHz clock, with monster 10MB hard drive and a beautiful 15" amber monitor.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am having the same problem.
I have the latest updates from Lenovo, including the ThinkVantage utility.  Running Windows 7 on an X200s.
When I tried to use Help, it took me to the generic Windows Help.  I am trying to adjust contrast, but the Windows Help directs me to a contrast control, which does not exist on my monitor (this being a laptop!).
When I press the ThinkVantage button, I am presented with 5 categories:
    System Health
    Security & Networking
    Ultimate Business Tool
    Diagnostics
    Lenovo Support
I select Lenovo Support, and am presented with 5 links:
    Lenovo Warranty Status
    Important Support Links
    Performance and Configuration History
    Drive Space Manager
    News and Information from Lenovo
I select Important Support Links, and get two choices:
Lenovo User Forums (which takes me here)
Lenovo Support and Downloads (which takes me to a Hardware Manual I can download).
So if the user manual is so 21st century that it doesn't use dead trees, where is it?
I've checked all the other possible options from ThinkVantage, but cannot find anything on adjusting display contrast.
    Can anyone help me?

  • IPad User Manual

I have the original iPad hardware, now updated to the most current IOS. Is there a newer PDF User Manual that reflects changes in the operating system? The manual I have is for IOS 4.2 and my iPad is now using 4.3.

In addition to the link that Alancito supplied, you can download the iPad User Guide for iOS 4.3 as a free book in iBooks. While the book is written for the iPad2, It describes the features in iOS 4.3 which work the same for both iPads. It is more comprehensive than the PDF as well. Just ignore the iPad2 only information that doesn't apply to the original iPad.

  • Can't open any user manuals in FCS 2 from the help menu.

I just installed FCS 2 and I can't open any of the user manuals in any of FCS 2 apps. from the help menu. They are listed in the resources folder under the content folder so I know that they're there. Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks

Do I feel stupid. Just had an epiphany that it might be due to Adobe Reader and it was. Had to update to 9. Sorry for the post.
