Updating 10g to 11i

I have trying to update my 10g to 11i using database upgrade assistance but i keep having this error problem ( session timed out). do i need to subscribe to metallink before this is posible. if yes can anyone direct me for the right product and if no what could be the problem

ora--04063:view "sys.ku$_xmlschema_view" has error. Ah, I'll bet that you exceeded a resource, most likely RAM.
Carefully re-check the pre-install guide and make sure that you have all of the prereqs . . . .

  • Differences between 10g and 11i

    Hello Everyone,
I am new to Oracle development.
If I were learning Oracle 10g Standard Edition
and got comfortable in it and had some exposure
to it. How big of a jump would it be for me to
    pick up Oracle 11i?
    Thanks,
    Nick Ueda

10g is a version of the Oracle database. 11i is a version of the Oracle applications suite. The two are completely independent (though Oracle's applications suite does use the Oracle database on the back end).

  • Updating 10g in OSX Problem

It seems as if every time I install an update to 10g on my OSX machine I must start the program twice -- the installation is done in the first restart and then the program will actually start the second time. Here is the console from the latest Faces install:

    Hi Paul,
I believe you can still buy Appleworks at the Apple
Store. It cost $79.00 There is a native OS X version.
Of course, it has not been updated in quite a while
and may not be as it appears as though the iWork
package is going to be its replacement.
By the way, do you live in the U.S. ? If not, that
updater may not work for you as I believe it only
works on the U.S. version of Appleworks.
Al, You said that "There is a native OS X version." Does that mean that there is an AW 6 application on the install discs that come with the OS X package?
As you may have seen from my previous post, I had an Apple authorized service center install my OS X, as I don't have the knowledge or confidence to try it myself. Don't know how he did it, as I don't have DVD or Firewire. Nonetheless, I have ordered the Install CDs from the Apple Media Exchange program, and am awaiting thier delivery. Once I have them in my hands, I suppose I can insert them and check to see if I can just install AW6. Can I hope that it wil be this easy?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Need advice on going with 10g vs 11i for PeopleSoft 9.0 and tools version.

    Hi,
My company is currently on PeopleSoft 8.9 with peopletools 8.48. We are looking to upgrade our Application, Database and tools set. For anyone that has already or is in theprocess of converting to PeopleSoft 9.0, could you let me know what version or Oracle your company selected along with waht tools version and why you made these selections. In addition any lessons learned would be of great help.
    Thank you,
    Maryanne

If you are moving to Peoplesoft 9.0, why not using Peopletools 8.49 and Oracle 11g ?
If the Peopletools version 8.49 is not questionnable from my point of view, available for several years and now most of the bugs are fixed - means it is robust, the main question will be for 11g of Oracle.
Should we go to the latest patchset of 10.2 or for the first patchset of 11g ?
However, if you're in the beginning of the project, I would go for 11g, the second patchset will come out in few months time (I would bet before the end of the year - just my opinion -), and it will be easier to upgrade your db version at that time to a newer patchset than manage a version upgrade from 10g to 11g.
Always keep in mind than a Peoplesoft application is working for many years, and upgrade the version of database is not always neutral in terms of time and costs.
    Nicolas.

  • Migration from 10g to 11i using sapinst - system copy

    Hi ,
We are planning to migrate from our current platform to new platform.
    Current Platform :  windows 2003,oracle 10g , ecc6.0
    Target :  Windows 2008 R2 , oracle 11g , ecc6.0
The process we are going to follow is system copy (Import/Export)
what are the Prerequisites for the for the same.
Do we have to need Sap netwever 7.0 sr3 atleast to carry out import / export.
What about the kernel and Export ?
Is it compatible to move from 10g to 11g using sapinst system copy.
    Thanks,
    Neel

  • 11i Split Configuration Certification Question

I have reviewed document 343917.1 and looked at the certifications, but I am a little confused on the split configuration certification options for 11i. We currently have 2 servers with our 11.5.10.2 environment. The db server has both the db and the admin and conc mgr. The app server has the web and forms. We are currently on a solaris sparc 32 bit for all tiers. We want to move to Linux. Assuming the app tier would be 32 bit RHEL, could we have the db tier on 64bit RHEL even though the conc mgr is on that tier? We are not planning on upgrading to 12 for at least a year and possibly longer."
    Thanks in Advance

could we have the db tier on 64bit RHEL even though the conc mgr is on that tier? applications tier node Oracle Apps 11i is not certified with 64-bit Operating system.

  • Possible have IDs instead of names in queries - Discoverer 10g (10.1.2)?

    Hi all,
In EUL I have defined folders: Time, Product, Customer, Sales. In dimensions
    folders I have as follows:
    - Time -> Day_Id, Day_Name, Day_Date, Mnth_Id, Mnth_Name, Mnth_Date;
    - Products-> Prod_Id, Prod_Name, Tot_Prod_Id, Tot_Prod_Name
    - Customers: Cust_Id, Cust_Name, Grp_Cust_Id, Grp_Cust_Name, Tot_Cust_Id,Cust_Tot_Name
All Id and Date items are "user invisible", only _Name items are marked as
"user visible" and may be chosen by Disco end-users.
In facts folders Sales I have:
    - Sales -> Time_Id, Prod_Id, Cust_Id (<- user invisible), Gross_Rev, Net_Rev,Quantity, Quantity_Kg.
When I create a report (either from Discoverer Plus or Discoverer Desktop) by names (available from selector) in
generated select statement I can see (in simplified version, but meaning still the same):
    SELECT TIME.MNTH_NAME, PRODUCTS.PROD_NAME, SUM(SALES.QUANTITY)
    FROM SALES, PRODUCTS, TIME o
    WHERE SALES.TIME_ID=TIME.ID AND SALES.PROD_ID=PRODUCTS.ID
    AND TIME.MNTH_NAME IN ('M-03-2004','M-04-2004','M-05-2004')
    AND (PRODUCTS.PROD_NAME IN ('000029 - PROD1','000030 - PROD2)
    GROUP BY TIME.MNTH_NAME,PRODUCTS.PROD_NAME;
which is not good for me because of MNTH_NAME, PROD_NAME in select, where and group by phrases of query - I need there to be MNTH_ID, PROD_ID instead of those names. Is it possible that Discoverer generates such a query instead of written above:
    SELECT TIME.MNTH_ID, PRODUCTS.PROD_ID, SUM(SALES.QUANTITY)
    FROM SALES, PRODUCTS, TIME o
    WHERE SALES.TIME_ID=TIME.ID AND SALES.PROD_ID=PRODUCTS.ID
    AND TIME.MNTH_ID IN (21,22,23)
    AND (PRODUCTS.PROD_ID IN (234,456,55)
    GROUP BY TIME.MNTH_ID,PRODUCTS.PROD_ID;
I tried to use "indexed items" functionality as recommended in Disco
Administrator Guide, so that Disco can do mapping NAME-ID behind the scene, but it doesn't work - queries are still the same and explain plans are poor.
How to force Discoverer to use IDs instead of names in selects?
    Regards,
    MKF

    Hi Asim,
The instructions for integrating Discoverer with IDM/Portal are in the Discoverer doc listed above. Most people shutdown the Discoverer 4i server, upgrade the EUL to 10g, then install the 10g Discoverer software and configure the apps to use it. Details are all in the doc.

1.1. Install OracleAS Identity Management Infrastructure 10g (10.1.4.0.1)
You must install OracleAS Identity Management Infrastructure 10g (10.1.4.0.1) on a standalone server or in a separate ORACLE_HOME on an existing application tier server node. Follow the instructions in the Oracle Application Server 10g Installation Guide for your operating system platform.
1.2. Install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) type Business Intelligence and Forms
You must install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) installation type Business Intelligence and Forms in a seperate ORACLE_HOME from the previously installed OracleAS Infrastructure. During installation of Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) type Business Intelligence and Forms you will be prompted for Oracle Internet Directory details. • RHEL 6 for EBS 11i (11.5.10.2)

    Hi hussein,
I posted a thread in here before about our company buying or upgrading to a newer server which is of higher-end and with bigger CPUs and Memories.
We are currently running EBS 11i (11.5.10.2) on the current server which is about 6 years old. This is single node only and running RHEL 4.6.
Now, due to performance degradation, we are buying newer machines which will be a two-node configuration. The machine vendor said that the O.S. that it runs on will be RHEL 6.
My question is....Is RHEL 6 supported in EBS 11i? Can I clone the existing PROD EBS 11i which is on RHEL 4.6 to
the new target servers running on RHEL 6?
    Thanks a lot,

My question is....Is RHEL 6 supported in EBS 11i? No, you either need to install RHEL4 or RHEL5.

  • Standard API or package to update the Table fa_mc_books_rates in FA in R12.

I should perform an update statement on fa_mc_books_rates. The package "MC_FA_UTILITIES_PKG" had a procedure for updating fa_mc_books_rates in 11i, but it doesn't have in R12. please let me know if you know the standard API or package to update fa_mc_books_rates.

Also I am new to Oracle FA and I have couple questions in it and please I need your help. I am doing my assets conversion from 11.0.3 --> flat files --> Oracle R12
through FA_MASS_ADDITIONS and Post mass additions program. If it's just converting the assets, it looks pretty straight forward, but my questions are:
    1. I have to also convert relations like Parent-Child-Grand child and we cannot convert all the assets along with these relations because the dependent assets
might not exist before and I am thinking of using PARENT_MASS_ADDITION_ID for that purpose, but I am not sure as Oracle says not to use that column.
I need your suggestion how can we achiene this.
    2. I also need to convert my project related information like PROJECT_ID and TASK_ID but oracle says I cannot use PROJECT_ID in FA_MASS_ADDITIONS, so I am
wondering if we have any update api which I can update the project information in the base tables for the assets after the conversion like a post conversion process.
    Please advice me.
