Updating a Folio

Is it possible to update a Folio without having the Update Tag appearing in the app? If there is a minor change that isn't worth to bother customers for example.

  • Error when attempting to update DPS folio in Content Viewer

    Long story short, out of nowhere I can't update a folio in my iPad Content Viewer app.
    I get the error message:
    Error During Download
    Please try your download again later.
    This never happened before, everything has been going smooth until now. Please see screenshots below.
    Any ideas, Adobe?

    I remembered a workaround from a few years ago when a similar problem existed, so I thought I'd give it a try –– First, I removed the folio from my iPad so I could start the download from scratch. Then, as soon as the first article starts to download I quickly go to "stack" view and then the viewer app will download a few articles. But then it pauses. But if I scroll back to a previous article with my finger (still in "stack" view) it will begin downloading a few pages again, then pauses again. As soon as I tap the screen and scroll back one article, it begins downloading again. At least with this method of "babying" it along I can hopefully meet my deadline. Hopefully the service will get fixed by the time I have to share the folio for review by the editorial and advertising teams.

  • Update new Folio Builder Panel but not the Folio Producer Tools?

    Hi Guys
    I was prompted to update the Builder Panel so I have done this now. I have read some older posts from last week about the new producer tools with new interactivity inside MSOs.
    Is everybody still having problems with this update or has the bug been fixed now?
    I'm not on such a tight deadline but I don't want any problems! Should I hold fire on updating the Producer tools?

    You can update the viewer builder panel independent from producer tools.
    So you can stay on version 17 of the tools but you need the current folio
    builder panel.

  • Error when updating in folio producer

    When I try to update my folio in Folio Producer I got the following message;
    "An error has occurred while updating the folio on the distribution server.
    Failed to get folio catalog."
    What could be the issue?

    This sounds like unexpected behavior related to your specific account or folio.  If you are willing to contact me off of the forum, I will arrange for further investigation of this problem.  Please provide the following information when you contact me:
    1. The user name of the account you are attempting to publish from.
    2. The folio name you are trying to update.  A screen shot of the row in the Folio Organizer may be the simplest way to show us which one.

  • About update the Folio Builder.

    In InDesign CS6, not able to update the Folio Builder. However, CS5.5, it is enabled.

    Download and install from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ if the Help>Update in Indesign CS6 is not showing any updates for DPS Tools.

  • Update a folio after published at Apple

    Hello,
    can I submit an Adobe app with a folio and, after Apple approval, insert new article in the published folio with the same Product ID? Or do I have to publish a new folio, create a new Product ID and delete the first one?

    My understanding is this; once you have had your app approved (multi issue) and you have made your folio public, you can update as often as you like.
    One thing I would like to be confirmed is that if I update the folio, and users then update it, does that count as another download fee to Adobe??

  • Update of folios not working in my iPad

    Hi all,
    When I update the files, build the folio, and share it with my own Adobe content viewer ID, I could not get that file listed in ACV on my iPad.
    1. I waited for several updates
    2. signed out, signed in
    3. tried loging in with my official DPS ID that I am using currently to create folios
    One more question:
    Why should I share the folio with my own but another ID to view the files in my iPad? can't I use the same ID with which I create the folios in InDesign using DPS?
    One thing to be noted is that I could see all the updates in my Android Adobe content viewer with the same shared ID.
    It will be of great help if someone can help me with this quickly. Thanks a lot.

    Hey sunilydoo,
    When you have issues with any app that is downloaded from the App Store, refer to the troubleshooting article below for suggestions like quitting out of the app completely and restarting your iPad. You may end up having to remove the app and install it again.

  • Cannot update my folio. Builder crash?

    Hi,
    I started creating a new folio last friday and up until this morning everything worked fine. Ever since I ran the update, though, I can no longer work with the tools. I tried reinstalling but still. Here's my problem:
    I open InDesign, log in using the Folio Builder, open one of my articles' layout, make some minor changes, click to add the layout, then the usual routine follows and it uploads the new layout to the cloud. So far so good. However, on the iPad I just won't get an update notification. Going back to InDesign, I realize that the Folio Builder seems to have crashed - now it won't even let me open the article layouts. I have to quit and restart InDesign in order to be able to access the cloud again.
    Hope that makes sence. Using InDesign CS5 with the Folio Producer Tools downloaded Friday, FolioPanel this morning. Working on a Mac. Looking forward to any tips.

    I am engineer working on DPS tools. Update an article should not change the orientation. I just gave it a try with a normal 1024x768 article and update seemed to work fine for me.   • Updates to Folio Panel, Producer Tools and Content Viewer on iPad breaking scroll panels

    This has not been a good morning.
    Came into the office this morning, logged in and saw that there were updates for the Content Viewer, Producer Tools and the Folio Panel. Updated them all. Started to work some more on a promo piece for a new magazine and began to notice Scroll Panels using the "Pan Only" form within the Content Overlay panel no longer work. This was a great way to create scroll panels that could contain hyperlinks. Problem is, I am not sure where the problem lies. Is the problem with the Viewer or with the updates to the Folio Tools or Folio Panel? I am unfortunately on deadline for this afternoon and I don't have the luxury to troubleshoot this. Granted, I probably shouldn't have updated all of these tools at this juncture, but I was hoping that these updates would fix the problem I was having with the Desktop Viewer that wasn't working. Sadly, the Desktop Viewer works now, but that came with the price of losing functionality elsewhere.
    Frustrated.

    Yeah, it's been a project that I was working on for the last two weeks. We were supposed to have a final walk-through this afternoon and present it tomorrow. But now a good portion of the features that were working and had been promised no longer work. All out of no fault of my own. I understand that these things can happen, but this one is pretty bad and the timing was worse. Like I said, I shouldn't have updated the tools and the Viewer app until after the presentation... but then again, that may have been even worse. At least I was able to get the presentation postponed until Monday... gives me a little more time to figure out what to do.
    Anyways, I did able to get a hold of someone through support and was able to send them some files. It's being looked at as I type this. I do have to give credit to the Adobe support staff, they've been helpful and pretty responsive! Thanks guys!

  • Error when updating published folio

    Preparing to submit app for iTunes approval and testing using TestFlight. All was going well until I tried to update content in an iPhone rendition. One article needed an edit, the edit was made and folio was shared with application account. I copied the corrected article to the published folio and deleted the old article. It's published as Public and Retail. Folio Name and Product ID were not changed.
    After updating the published folio, the viewer shows there is an update available for that folio. But when tapping to download the update, I receive an error that says "the file is missing or is invalid".

    The in-app and Product ID match. I re-published the folio and now I can download it in the viewer app in TestFlight, but the updated article is not there. I selected Update folio again, but the old article is appearing in the viewer and there is now notification of an update now. Is this an issue with caching in TestFlight mode?

  • Updating live folio in Newsstand?

    I have edited our existing Folio (added a new article and changed the Cover) and pushed the Update button, then pushed the Notify button inside the Folio Producer: Organizer and have been waiting for 3 hours now to see if the update and notify have worked. Is this delay typical?

    Some additional pieces of insight about the Newsstand notification process:
    Your app won't respond at all if you've already received a notification for the same app within ~24 hours. This is an OS limitation. This is true for prodution applications but not enforced when working in the sandbox.
    When the notification is received, the following criteria must be in place or no downloading activity will be evident
    The device needs an active network connection
    The account authorized within the app must be entitled to download the app
    New content will not be downloaded unless it is discovered by the process initiated by the Newsstand notification process. If your device/app was already activated the Library already contains the new document, it will not be downloaded.
    Any interruption of the process by launching the app will terminate the download.
    Newsstand is complex and the process is somewhat fragile to test, since it's designed to accommodate the scenario where the reader is unaware of new content.

  • Latest desktop viewer update = disabled folios

    I just installed all of the updates needed for the Adobe Viewer (released 9/17/12). Now that I have installed the updates, the desktop viewer (which previously worked with my apps) now has nothing showing in the browser window. I received the email that said I needed to update a valid 'Application Name,' but the desktop viewer has not been working with any name that I've tried from my folios. Where can I find the 'Application Name' that I need to enable my desktop viewers? Is there a setting that I am missing in my preparation??

    Some users have experienced help by installing 10.3.9 Combo Update. Remember to Repair Disk Permissions (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility) before and after applying the update.

  • Can't update/download folio

    We are not sure what happened, but one of our folios is now broken. We can't update folio from InDesign, we can't download this folio to Viewer - it's just "Waiting". We think that something get broken when failed uploading of HTMLResources.zip, when this upload failed. We uploaded it again, this time without problem, and from this moment problems started. We can't download to viewer, we can't update from InDesign.
    What is VERY frustrating is that this folio is quite long and we have all description in this (we wanted to use sidecar, but it's not working in v18).
    Any idea how to make this again working? We know that we can re-create folio, but this should be not solution, shouldn't be?

  • What is the best way to update a folio produced by someone else?

    I need to update files that were created by someone else and have already been published in folio producer. The client has given me access to the folio via DPS folio producer.  What is the best way to go about getting access to the InDesign files via Folio Producer? Or so I need to go back and get the InDesign files? Sorry if this has been addressed somewhere else recently but all the posts I have seen were older. Thanks.

    I assume the folio was shared with you? If so, copy it in the folio producer so you have you own folio.
    Then get the source files. You can then relink your copied folio to the InDesign files.

  • Update to Folio Producer Tools (Oct. 3)

    Digital Publishing Suite will be releasing new features and functionality Monday Oct 3rd at 5:00 PM Pacific Coast time. There are now two separate installers: one for the Folio Producer tools and one for the Folio Builder panel. If you created a custom viewer using a previous set of tools and don't want to update the viewer app, install only the Folio Builder panel to stay in sync with the updated web client. If you want to update all your tools, install the Folio Producer tools first, and then install the Folio Builder panel. SeeInstalling digital publishing tools.
    The v16 file format is identical to the previous file format, so any folio you create with the newest set of tools works with the current Adobe Content Viewer (1.9). Adobe submitted a new version of the app to Apple. When the new viewer is available, Preview on Device will work for the iPad (Mac only; third-party utility required). See What's new in this release.

    OK, I figured it out.
    Deep in the Library folder (Application Support/Adobe/) there's a folder called "CS5ServiceManager" and inside that, there's a folder called "extensions". When I checked in this folder, there was another folder titled "Overlay Creator" but nothing about folio builder. I went back out to the Adobe folder and noticed that there was another folder titled CS5.5ServiceManager. Sure enough, inside the extensions folder was a Folio Builder folder. I simply moved that folder to the CS5ServiceManager/extensions folder, restarted InDesign and voila, Folio Builder appeared in the extensions menu.
    I suppose it's possible that I accidently downloaded the CS5.5 version of Folio Builder but I honestly don't think so. Would the 5.5 version even work in InDesign CS5?
