Updating Acrobat 8.0.0 thru Adobe Updater fails

We still have a few machines that are PPC iMacs that still work well for their purpose. I recently reformatted the hard drive and installed a fresh 10.5 Leopard OS onto the drive. After doing all of the Apple Updates, I proceeded to install CS3 onto the computer. The install went fine. Opened PS first, then quit it. Opened AI next, then quit it. Opened ID, then quit it. Opened Acrobat last so the serial number file would work properly. With Acrobat 8.0.0 open, I go to the help menu and choose updates. The typical box comes up with a progress bar but immediately comes back with this error.
I have done many many installs and know this is not the expected behavior. I decided to go to another machine and try to run the updater there and get the same error message. I also tried using an install of CS4 and still get the same response. CS55 apparently uses a different updater app so I assume the server location at adobe may be different as well.
I called Adobe tech support and got the "Acrobat 8.x is no longer supported by phone anymore because it is too old". I asked if the update engine was still in place and the rep seemed to think it was still alive but could not confirm that because interestingly enough, they don't have an installation of Acrobat 8.x to try. It seems odd to me that even though 8.x is no longer supported, they just patched it on 9-13-2011. I guess I could donwnload each individual updater but that would be difficult to find each piece. Where do I find the flashlight updater that always took so long to install.
Can anyone verify for me that they are now experiencing the same error that I am? I have tried connecting from 2 different locations and get the same result.

It appears that if you manually update Acrobat manually up to 8.2.6, then choose check for updates from the help menu, the new updater is in place and will find the update server and present the opportunity to download 8.3.1. Obviously this does NOT help PS, AI, or ID from getting updated though, because for some reason Acrobat seems to be the illegitimate child of the creative suite. CS55 also behaves this way. If you check for updates in PS, AI, or ID, it will not look for Acrobat updates and vice versa. PS and Acrobat use a totally different software engine for obtaining updates, sad.
Off to look for CS3 updates for the other apps since even though Acrobat now finds the update server with its updater, the other apps still use the older still nonfunctioning updater.

My operating system is Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit
After installing Creative Suites 4 and downloading updates, I received an Acrobat Updater notification that Updates were available.
I clicked on the Adobe Acrobat Updater icon and ultimately got the following Error.
Adobe Acrobat Updater, Update Failed, Error:1602
This was solved by going to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Acrobat\9.2\ARM
I deleted the contents of the ARM folder and then ran "Check for Updates" from Adobe Acrobat. This re-populated the ARM folder with the correct folder and files. Updater ran and I followed the instructions to restart my computer and now it works well.

Previous Version installed: 9.5.3
AcroRd32.exe - File Version 9.5.3.305
AcroRd32.dll - File version 9.5.3.305
After update installation to 9.5.4, add or remove program shows latest version but exe and dll is not updated. Vulnerability assessment tools based on file version check identifies patch is still missing. Becomes a HEAD ACHE.
Adobe Reader 9 > Help > About Adobe Reader 9 - First shows version 9.5.4, if your click on it instead of showing AGM version next it shows version 9.5.3.305.
I tested for all previous versions of 9x, works fine in each update. Seems like patch is missing codes for updating file versions.

9.1.2 Update Fails in Acrobat Pro 9

I am running a standalone version of Acrobat Pro 9 on an iMac running Mac OS X 10.5.8. I am trying to update Acrobat Pro 9 from 9.1.1 to 9.1.2 without success. I have had problems with EVERY SINGLE update from 9.0.0 whether from help>check for update OR from a direct download from Adobe.
When attempting to install 9.1.2 I receive the following message:
The patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed (for example, plug-ins may have been disabled). Please go to the Adobe support website for more information regarding how to re-enable disabled components prior to installing the patch. Or, you can uninstall and reinstall the application, and then reinstall the patch.

I decided to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of a more up-to-date version of Acrobat Pro 9 from the Adobe site, but the uninstaller claims Adobe Acrobat Pro.app is an invalid file.
I've read countless messages online with similar stories and I find it incredible that there are so few solutions to all of these problems.
Contrary to my nature, I am hopeful someone can help.

thanks for all the tips - unfortunately none of the suggestions worked.
i first deleted the AUMProduct.aup file - the update failed.
i hoped a new admin account would do the trick, but was surprised to again encounter the "The patch has failed..." error.
as far as the python errors in console, i don't have these.
as a last resort i ran the uninstaller program, but it does not think Adobe Acrobat Pro.app is a valid program file!
i'd drag it to the waste basket, but am sure some piece left hanging somewhere would come back to haunt me.
not sure what to do now...

Update fail for Adobe AIR

Update popup states "Acrobat.com cannot continue until you update Adobe AIR." When update fails - 3 times in a row - the update popup box cannot be closed.
Any fix?

Are you using the Acrobat.com desktop application? This is no longer supported; you should uninstall it, and use the Adobe Reader tools for this.
If your issue is different, please explain. Also tell us your operating system.
Regarding Adobe AIR, I suggest you uninstall it, then reinstall from http://get.adobe.com/air/

Adobe CS5 Updates fails !!! There was an error downloading this update HELP (Windows)

I have the same problem, but I'm on a mac 10.9. I have 2 folders inside the Adobe Patch folder inside the Adobe folder. The items have a bunch of letters and numbers.
I've attempted 2 downloads, each going through almost the whole process and stopping about 90% saying unable to install, fix the problems listed below (there was an error downloading this update, please quit and try again later). When I click on the consumer support for further assistance, it takes me to an Adobe page that says “This serial number is not for a qualifying product. Please try another” . I have CS4 design premium, CS5 design standard, and Acrobat Professional installed.

You are right. There are a lot more self-support tools available in Windows
than in MacOS. All you ever get on a Mac is "That didn't work: -304998173".

The upgrade is not the 11.0.06, but that is an update. The upgrade is what
you can purchase if you had a previous version of Acrobat (at least AA 9).
The upgrade is substantially less in price than the full product. With the
upgrade you also have to have the SN of the previous product available for
the install. That is why I asked about the upgrade. Once you install AA XI,
then going to 11.0.06 is a free update (updates are changes in the
sub-version and are done quarterly or when there is a critical security
issue). You can often fix installations by running a repair. In Windows
that is done either from Help>Repair or from the Control Panel. I do not
know the equivalent of the Control panel in the MAC. In any case I am glad
you got it fixed.

Adobe Reader XI Update failed. How to fix?

When my windows 7 64 bit computer was updated to adobe reader XI, the update function began to continually fail. I am getting the following "Adobe Reader Updater" message:
"Update Failed An error occured. Please check for updates again later. Error: 111500"
This message annoyingly pops up when adobe attempts to check for updates automatically. I also get this message anytime I manually check for updates. I have tried to "check for updates later" a million times with no luck. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Reader a million times. I have also uninstalled, utilized the adobe reader removal tool for removal of older versions, and reinstalled a million times. I have also tried reinstalling the older versions. Still, whether i am using version XI or an older version of Reader, I always get the above message when I request an update. Please Help!

This error means that Updater could not create download folder under C:\Users\All Users\Adobe\ARM
Most likely you have special\corrupted permissions at C:\Users\All Users level
Or some sort of Antivirus type program keeps this folder locked.
You have 2 choices
1. Fix permissions\locking issue
2. Download Updates manually and install them every time they are released - http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/release-note/release-notes-acrobat-reader.html
If you choose later, you can disable Updater automatic modes from Edit\Preferences\Updater menu.

Adobe Illustrator update fails every time.

I've been trying to update Illustrator CS6 for the last 2 weeks via Adobe Application Manager, but each time I try to update Illustrator it tells me the update failed. What's the bug here and how can I get the update? All the other apps seem to update just fine (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Muse, etc.). There seems to be something broken in Illustrator or in the Application Manager for it to so consistently fail to update.

I DID find the installation logs for Illustrator. What I didn't find were any ERROR messages in it. Below is the text file from the installation logs for you to check through to see if I missed anything. By the way, the Adobe rep I spoke to didn't ask me anything about the installation logs at all. After putting me on hold several times he told me that because I had both CS4 and CS6 installed on my Mac, I needed to delete both of them and do a complete reinstall of each of them.

Acrobat DC update failed

Hi,
I have been trying to update Acrobat to Acrobat DC and keep getting an Update Failed message at 35%. When I select Learn more I have the following error summary.

Acrobat Update Fails....it's 10.1.4 and I have 10.1.5

Adobe PSE Elements 9.0 Update of 9.0.3 Failed: "Some updates failed." "Patch cannot be applied."

Greetings, I appreciate your help. I am brand new with PSE but I am AMAZED Adobe Chat does NOT support when one of their own updates failed to install. Amazed! So, here I am.
I downloaded and installed the latest update, 9.0.3, just now on May 10, 2012. It failed saying Patch can not be installed. I have NOT a CLUE where to go from here. Can anyone PLEASE either help me directly OR direct me to someone or a resource who can?

Thank you. My initial response to your comment was, "I don't have a clue what you mean by "floating windows." HOWEVER,I took your link and read your posted article. I now understand the context which is sufficient for now. I am truly a brand NEW user that has NOT used PSE 9.0 AT ALL. It came on my new Dell PC and I've done nothing beyond registering it UNTIL today when the update showed up. I figured my PC was "on the shelf" a few months between manufacture and delivery so I've been accepting updates for much of what came pre-installed. NOW, HOWEVER, THANKFULLY you have alerted me to some Tom Foolery going on with the product.
Question: since I got an error during install of 9.0.3 should I consider it INSTALLED or should I proceed and ignore this little charade even happened since it would not have installed? If I need to reinstall, I will wait for your advice, then I have a CD or DVD that Dell shipped with my PC. Should I use that? The link you give in your posted article, is the link to download to reinstall 9.0 or is that for something else, like support?
I am sorry I am so naive with Adobe 9.0. Yet, it is this naivete that makes me ever so much more grateful for your jumping to my situation.

'Update Failed' Adobe Creative Cloud

I am a Mac 10.8.4 user
I have followed prompts to update CS6 apps but this results in the message 'Update Failed' after downloading and installing.
"Error enccountered during installation. (U44M1P7)"
The Install log seem to indicates a problem with the CS6 Extension Manager.
"DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:
06/19/13 12:45:18:971 | [WARN] | | OOBE | DE | | | | 4000 | DW050: - Adobe Extension Manager"
The CS6 Extension Manager is not listed on the Cloud Site and there is no unistall
Should I delete it and try again or does someone have a better suggestion.
