Updating Acrobat 9.2 to 9.3.x

I'm having fits with updating my correctly installed copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro version 9.2. I've been trying to update the application now for 3 updates, but I continually get the message that "the patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed (for example, plug-ins may have been disabled)." I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the program, repairing permissions, and doing manual updates instead of auto updates to no avail. It is VERY difficult for me to get my I.T. department over to re-install the software (yet again).
I also looked for the AUP file inside of the application (using show package contents) that has been mentioned in fixing the Acrobat 8 update issue, but it does not exist in Acrobat 9. This is incredibly frustrating. Does anyone have a workaround for updating this software for the Mac?
Just to follow up...
I have again attempted to upgrade my software to no avail. Has anyone come up with a work-around for this that avoids re-installing the software? As I mentioned earlier, it is hard to get our I.T. department over to re-install the software (we are in separate locations and I don't have copies of the install discs).
Any ideas are most appreciated!

You may need to download the update from the Adobe Download site (Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows). These updates typically have to be installed in order unless the downloads indicate otherwise.

    I have just updated Acrobat to version 10.1.13. I am using a MAC Running Yosemite.  When I try to scan a document, after the printer scans Adobe Acrobat quits and I get an unexpected closure error.  I am running Mac OS 10.10.1.  This only started happening when I installed the update of Adobe Acrobat.

    Hi MEW1,
    Is the printer connected wirelessly or wired?
    Go to Preferences and under categories go to > Convert to Pdf then select the Image Capture and then hit ok button.
    Close Acrobat and then relaunch it and see if it helps you while you do scanning.

  • After Latest Update, Acrobat no longer works

    Yesterday the Adobe updater came up saying that there were some updates to install. After installing the updates, Acrobat now comes up with a Fatal Error. It said something to the effect Acrobat failed to load its core dll file and I also got an error saying:
    acrodist.exe - Application Error
    The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000022). Click OK to terminate the application.
    Here is my setup:
    Design Premium CS4 with Acrobat 9 Pro
    Windows Vista Ultimate
    I tried running a repair re-install and that didn't work. Still get the same error. If someone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

    I was giong to say, "Help me, Adobe Joe Kenobi", but it looks like you're growing a beard waiting for an answer, too.
    The same thing happened to me today. I trusted the "update" message since it was from Adobe, and apprently did so at my own peril. Now I get the "failed to load Core dll" message with a secondary reference to a memory address.
    Just an observation, but what good are these forums when there are no answers? I see this problem as "Caused by Adobe Update", and would expect them to troublshoot and offer up a remedy. Since you've been waiting over two months with no response, I suppose it's time to trek off wasting more of my precious time to fix their problem. If I find the solution, I'll post it back to you.
    May the Force be with you.

  • Error 1310 when trying to update Acrobat X Pro?

    I keep getting error 1310 when I try to update Acrobat X Error writing to file C:\config.ms.\2c20c8I.rbf. Verify you have access to that file.
    Windows Vista  computer. I am signed on as an administrator with full access. A while back, I was having the same issue with the Master Suite CC and an Adobe Tech had me try many things with no success. Finally all other updates have installed except this one. The tech worked with me and verified the file was ther and was set up tp be accessable. Still no luck. Any ideas, anyone?

    Yes, I checked the file location. It is there and I supposedly have access to it. I went thru this all with an Adobe tech in the past when none of the other Cloud apps would update. Now the only update left is Acrobat x Pro which still gives me the same message. Please note again that I have been getting this message in the past and the message is a common one if you google it and look at all the responses. This is not just my problem!

  • Cannot update Acrobat 8.0

    Hi.
    I have a problem.  I have installed Adobe CS3 Design Premium on my computer.
    (Windows XP SP3, 4GB Ram,250GB HD with 205 free space, Intel Core 2 6600 CPU)
    I cannot install the updates for Acrobat.  Everything else updated.  I had a corrupt profile, which may have caused some errors, so I uninstalled and reinstalled CS3 on my current good profile.  Still I cannot update Acrobat 8.0 Professional.  Acrobat Reader is not installed.
    I get bootstrapper errors when I do the update process within Acrobat:
    (Adobe BootStrapper for chaining multiple patches. has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.)
    I tried the .msp files, but they are not recognized by Windows.  (This patch package could not be opened.  Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package).  I have tried the sequential steps and they don't work.  Starting with the first msp file (AcrobatUpd810_efgj_incr.msp)
    When I go into Help, About Adobe Acrobat Professional, I get Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.0.
    Can anybody help?

    Did you go to the update page and manually download/install the updates?
    Apply all updates IN NUMBER ORDER

    Hello,
    Adobe Updater don't update Acrobat Pro 9. It seems that Acrobat don't appears under Adobe Updater, it appears all others Creative Suite CS4 applications but not Acrobat. I dont know how to fix this. Is there any wahy to manually add Acrobat to the list of application that Adobe Updater updates?

    I would appreciate a lo any help that you could give me. Thanks,

    Hello Mike,
    Thank you very much for the link, i would update this way now. But i still wonder how can i fix the problem so i can use Adobe Updater with all Adobe apps. I think that Adobe Updater is very usefull because you dont have to check the website for updates of the differents apps.

  • Can't update Acrobat Pro 9.50 to 9.5.1

    Tried updating Acrobat Pro 9.5.0. to 9.5.1 through auto update and downloading the update. Both give an error to reinstall the app because something has changed since the last update. Something to do with plugins. Tried to repair Acrobat installation and remove Safari plugin also. Both don't work.
    At this point I don't want to re-install Acrobat 9. I get the feeling i'm going to have more problems. Also why would I have to reinstall the program? What is that all about? This has happened before while trying to update a version and I get the failure and reinstall. Anyone have any suggestions.

    You could try creating a new account using the instructions here http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404927.html. Update Acrobat from the new account and see if the patching works now.
    Also, could you please provide the log files for the failing patch. To obtain the log , follow the following steps:
    1.  Clear the contents of /user/library/adobe/logs folder
    2. Open Console, located in the  Applications- > Utilities folder.
    3. Update Acrobat to generate the error message.
    4. Check the console for error messages and save console log file
    5. Go to /user/library/adobe/logs and share the patch log file

  • Updating Acrobat 9 Pro does not work

    Hello,
    i'm trying to update Acrobat 9.0 Professional.
    I already tried the atomatic update, but it was stuck somewhere and it made no further progress.
    Now I downloaded all the update files und tried to update Acrobat manually, but it's also stucked.
    The last thing the updater says is "Updating files.... Current file: AcroIEHelper.dll   Remaining time: 19 minutes"
    But the updater says that for some hours for now.
    Do someone know this problem and/or knows a solution?

    Ok, I now got to version 9.3.1
    But the procedure was some kind of weird:
    (I don't know if this is working everytime)
    1.) Deactivating Antivirus and firewall
    2.) Logging in as Administrator: Starting the manual update -> Known Error
    3.) Restarting computer
    4.) Logging in as User (with Admin-Rights): Starting the manual update
    Now the installer reports a running installation (from the adminstrator-account)
    and ask to remove it.
    Now click "yes"
    The installation proceeds successfully.

  • Updating acrobat 6.0 to acrobat 9.0

    i am trying to update acrobat 6.0 to acrobat 9.0 on my dell inspiron laptop.
    i dont have a serial number for acrobat 6.0 because it was installed on the computer when i got
    from dell about 4 yrs ago. i just recently started using the lap top because my desktop crashed. Customer support told me to cntact Dell for serial number, but i dont think they will be of much help to me since the laptop is 4 yrs old.  i have deleted 6.0 on the laptop, but i am still getting asked for a upgrade check. does anyone know of a work around to get past this?

    Nope. No workaround.
    Unless you can get the serial number from Dell, you can't upgrade. Sorry.

  • Cannot update Acrobat Pro to 9.3.2 from 9.3.1

    I am attempting to update Acrobat Pro to 9.3.2 from 9.3.1. Downloading the update, I am met with this:
    The patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed (for example, plug-ins may have been disabled).
    Please go to the Adobe support website for more information regarding how to re-enable disabled components prior to installing the patch.  Or, you can uninstall and reinstall the application, and then reinstall the patch.
    Where do I find this "information" on the Adobe website? If Vague is an island, Abobe must be on it.
    Any solutions others have found?
    Uninstall and reinstall is a solution? Been down this road 16 months ago and it was a full afternoon on the phone with tech support in India. If this is the only solution offered, I am fine at the current crap unsafe version from Adobe. Unless of course Adobe is prepared to pay me for my time.

    I am a sys admin and have always had problems with Acrobat for many many year. I have spent 3 hours on the phone with tech support. Pushed out a new build with nothing else on except the base OS and still fails in the update and tried everything and yes im not a standard user, this is my job i build macs day in day out in 30 minutes flat, scripting, packaging the lot.
    You can see in the log it tries to download an update with an incorrect url http:/ when it should be http:// this is really terrible and just shows there is no UAT at all. Yesterday another tech support just told me for another full suite that just dragging the apps to the Trash is a normal uninstall method. The tech support guy today told me Acrobat comes with all CS5 product  but thats incorrect because it doesn't come with Production Premium!
    Adobe i believe your Acrobat team is separate from other teams and i understand why you have had to break it off from the suite but  come on this has been going on for so many years now its beyond a joke. You should fix it once and for all or at least get version x working with combined updaters like other vendor and offer free upgrades from 9 to 10.
    What is the point going on about all these extra features and security fixes if no one can even update the product! Spend hours on the phone with untrained staff with poor product knowledge and waste every ones time because i am a very experienced sys admin and get sick to death of Acrobat updates which rarely ever work!
    Also the system requirements for the update only goes to OS 10.6.3 and even the latest 9.4.1 only goes to OS 10.6.4 So even if every one can some how get i working its not even going to work on a 10.6.5 OS... pathetic so stuck no one listening, tech support don't listen. We just need an alternative good competitor then i am not buying or dealing with Adobe ever again!

  • How to update Acrobat 9 to current version during CS4 install

    HI All:
    I have a corporate wide deployment of Creative Suite 4 and Acrobat 9 Professional.   Due to the security vulnerabilities of Acrobat Professional, we need to update Acrobat 9 to version 9.4 during the deployment.
    For Acrobat Pro 9 the procedure is to edit the setup.ini to include the patches you want to install.  see the following technote:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/507/cpsid_50757.html
    Basically update the setup.ini file
    [Product]
    msi=AcroPro.msi
    Languages=1033;1031;1036
    1033=English (United States)
    1031=German (Germany)
    1036=French (France)
    PATCH=AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp;AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp;AcrobatUpd913_all_incr.msp ;AcrobatUpd920_all_incr.msp;AcrobatUpd930_all_incr.msp;AcrobatUpd932_all_incr.msp;AcrobatU pd933_all_incr.msp;AcrobatUpd940_all_incr.msp
    I need to do the same thing with the CS4/Acrobat 9 install but there is no setup.ini file for this install.  I checked the setup.xml but can not find a way to do this.
    Does anyone have any information on how to do this?
    thank you,

    I have found that I can update CS4 Acrobat to the current version using a batch file.
    I have created the batch file calling Acrobat *.msp files and there was no other commands needed to run MSIEXEC.  I have tested it and it runs and starts the installer.
    Contents of batch file:
    @ECHO OFF
    ::  Acrobat Professional 9.0 auto update for CS4
    ::  Updates Acrobat 9.0 Professional to Version 9.4.1
    ::  David Chamberlin
    ::  December 9, 2010
    ::  rev 3.0
    msiexec /p "[path]\AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp;[path]\AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp;[path]\AcrobatUp d913_all_incr.msp;[path]\AcrobatUpd920_all_incr.msp;[path]\AcrobatUpd930_all_incr.msp;[pat h]\AcrobatUpd932_all_incr.msp;[path]\AcrobatUpd933_all_incr.msp;[path]\AcrobatUpd940_all_i ncr.msp;[path]\AcrobatUpd941_all_incr.msp" REINSTALLMODE=omus REINSTALL=ALL /q

  • Update acrobat 9 standard no pdf printer

    I updated Acrobat 9 standard with 947 and the pdf printer vanished. Then update with 954 and still not there.

    Tried repair. Didn't work. Discs are at home. I am at work (a store). This happened to me once before and someone in India (where else?) took over the computer remotely and fixed it. I phoned India a while ago but poor connection, could barely understand the accent and got interrupted a lot by customers. I think I will uninstall and reinstall tomorrow. It was an upgrade from 6, so I have to have the serial number from 6 to install. All a big pain. Problem is, I use it a lot for business and I have to get it up and running.

  • Update Acrobat X Pro to 10.1.11. After update, Acrobat does not open. Acrobat is licensed. Ran repair, no help

    Did a regular update of Acrobat, from within the application. Update completed normally. After update, Acrobat does not open. No error or any message. Tried repairing, same.

    Hi,
    Can you share more information about the system you are trying on?
    Thanks!

  • Can't update Acrobat

    Hi,
    For the last few weeks I have been unable to update Acrobat.
    Every time I run the updater, it starts, then stops with a message displayed saying "the patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was installed.....". The message suggest I look at the Adobe support website for help on replacing/reactivation missing components, but I can't find anything to help me.
    This is incorrect, as I have completely re-installed my entire CS3 suite, and repaired the Acrobat installation to replace the missing PDF printer.
    I'd be very grateful for some help on what to try/do.
    Many thanks,
    Nige

    I've finally got it to work, thanks to some ideas in another thread.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c0608d0/47
    kudos to Scott J Miller (post 24)
    1. Used Applications/Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional/Acrobat Uninstaller
    2. Used CS3 Design Standard Install disc to re-install just Acrobat.
    3. Fired up Acrobat Pro and checked for updates.
    4. Updated the Adobe Updater then Updated Acrobat and a few more CS3 components (which were up to date on 1/1/2009), quitting Acrobat Pro during the downloading of the updates.
    Took about 3hrs. hopefully the other CS3 apps functionality and prefs is still OK, I'll report back if I get any fresh problems.
    I can only guess that when freshly installling CS3 the updating of the other CS3 Applications before Acrobat somehow alters the Acrobat install so that its updater no longer works.
