Updating Adobe Reader 9.5.2 for the Mac

How can I update Adobe Reader 9.5.2 when the application is grayed out when I try to select it?

uninstall adobe reader, run the cleaner (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html) and then install reader: http://get.adobe.com/reader/ (untick mcafee) or http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-acrobat-xi-pro-standard-reader-direct-download-links.html

I own Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 for the Mac and no longer have my Mac machine.  I would like to send my original copy along with the serial number / license key (24 digits) to a friend in Australia.  Can I do this and will it install fine for him.  I am not sure if the key can be re-used.
I would appreciate a response as this is a Christmas Gift.

If it's Acrobat then technically, yes. But they should be for your use (such as your main workstation and a laptop or other portable) and not someone else.

  • Updating Adobe Reader 8.0.0

I want to update Adobe Reader 8.0.0. to the latest version.  Should I:
         (a) uninstall Reader 8.0.0 and then install the latest version?
         (b) simply install the latest version?
    Thanks a lot.

It has been my experience that
upgrading from one version to the next (e.g. from 10.x to 11.x) works well
skipping versions (e.g. from 8.x to 11.x) does not always work well
I therefore recommend that you uninstall version 8.x, then install the latest version.

  • I have the old version of Firefox but when I download the update for firefox for the Mac OS X it says it is not compatible with my system which is 10.4.11 on the Mac. Can someone help me.

I need to update my current version of firefox for the Mac and when I do it says it is not compatible for my system but I can't find anywhere that it says what the system requirements are for the new version of firefox for the Mac.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com
For the full system requirements see http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/system-requirements.html

Is there anything else beside the number 2203?
Try removing the current Reader using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, then install 11.0.07 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • I downloaded the update Adobe Reader IX and now cannot open PDF attachments on incoming emails. Why?

I downloaded the update Adobe Reader IX and now cannot open incoming PDF attachments  It says "EULA display has stopped working"

Go to: C/Program Files (or Program Files(x86))/Adobe/Reader 11.0/Reader
Look for the file named "eula.exe" (or just "eula")
Double click it and accept the end user license agreement (eula)
You should not see this error anymore

  • Not possible to update Adobe Reader because of the language

I am located in Japan but I do not speak Japanese. When I receive an update notification and try to update my Adobe Reader, it redirects me to the Japanese website and since there is no possibility to change the language I cannot run the update. Why the notification is in English and then everything changes into Japanese? This is very user unfriendly and also somehow short-sighted, assuming that all the people located in a certain place speak the language of this place. There should be a choice, at least for English, if not for all other available languages.
Is there anything I can do to solve it? Maybe I am just overseeing the button since it is all in Japanese only?

More and more websites do that; it's a real pest!  "You are in Japan, so you will be served in Japanese.  No exceptions!"  It took me ages to use Google without being redirected to Google Japan.  It took me ages to get Amazon Japan to implement English pages...
Adobe is worse; try to update your Adobe ID, and you will end up in an endless redirect loop between the English and Japanese content!
Anyway, to your problem with the Adobe Reader update; do you also get redirected if you try to download the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ ?  If yes, your final option will be to download the installers/updates by navigating the Adobe FTP site ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/
If you tell me your operating system and the Reader version you are trying to update, I can post you a direct download link.

  • How do I update Adobe reader for ipad?

I have a file that works fine on my mac but when I try to open on my ipad I'm told I need to update the Adobe reader and given a web address to follow.  The file is an xft.
I would like to be able to edit it as well.

    Steve and all,
I appreciate your time and help on this. I realize I'm asking the wrong question. When/where or why is the PDF changing to xft?
The document is a .pdf on my MacBook. I'm using adobe reader to edit it on my Mac. I have tried to save it to the cloud from my Mac. When I access the cloud drive from the iPad I get a new screen that looks like it should be the document but only a message referencing adobe website to upgrade is given. I've also noticed the 50mb file on my computer,  is listed as 0mb .pdf in the file menu on the cloud drive when the cloud drive is accessed from iPad.
I have emailed the document to myself, open the mail on the ipad and used the "open in" drop down to select adobe reader and I get the same message.
I have connected iPad to Mac and dropped the file onto the ipad under the "apps" section of iTunes in Adobe reader. Same outcome when accessed via iPad.
The original on my Mac continues to work great during this but it would be fantastic to edit documents on the go.
The document is coming off a US gov website (i-130 if anyone is interested I tried to link it up here but had some trouble).   I've updated the adobe products on Mac and iPad as far as I can I believe.
It is only in the properties drop down that I can see the file name ends in .xft.
I'm even open to buying something that works. At this point my hesitation is I can't get the adobe reader in iPad to read/edit a .pdf file that I'm working on in adobe reader for my Mac so I assume a third party would also fail at this.
Any advice is helpful as I have a pile of documents to get through before I can move my family back home with me.

    help!

    Hello r,
if your problems remains, you better should completely uninstall your Adobe Reader, restart your computer and the make a complete download of "Adobe Reader XI" >>> http://get.adobe.com/reader/ as a real new installation.

I received a notice from Chris Campbell at Adobe that stated : "....we are aware that Macs created between 2006 and 2008 are currently running into problems using the latest release of Flash Player (version 13)."  My question is will the update of Adobe Reader 11.0.07 cause this problem with Flash Player 13 on my Mac?  Sometimes when I try to view streaming video I get sound but no video.

  • This is the third time I have entered this question and answered with my PW, etc. I have updated my IPad with IOS 7, and updated Adobe Reader with ver. 11.3.1. I cannot get any files or folders to come up when I click on Adobe, even though my Usage indica

I Have updated IPad to IOS 7.1.1, and also updated Adobe Reader to ver. 11.3.1. When I click on the Adobe icon, I get no files or folders to come up, just a blank screen. I know from my usage indicator on the IPad that I have 36 GB of PDF files resident, which I expected, but how do I access them. I had updated from IOS 5 because Adobe was crashing so often that it made it difficult to work.

If restarting the app or your iPad/iPhone does not work, we are not aware of any other ways to fix this particular problem.  Uninstalling & reinstalling Adobe Reader may be the only option left.  It will clean up the "inconsistent" application data.  But it is not even guaranteed to fix the problem.
If you uninstall Adobe Reader (or any other iOS apps), iOS will erase all of the application data including settings/preferences and PDF documents stored locally on your iPad/iPhone.
We'd highly recommend backing up your PDF documents regularly (not just this time) so that you do not lose them when something goes wrong.
How to backup and restore PDF documents on your iPad/iPhone using iTunes
    Backup your PDF documents.
    Uninstall Adobe Reader.
Download and reinstall Adobe Reader from the App Store.
Alternatively, you can store your PDF documents in cloud storage (e.g. Acrobat.com, Dropbox, Google Drive), which will eliminate the need to backup local files.
Please let us know if you need further assistance.
