Updating an already published book on iTunes Producer

How do I go about updating my already published paid iBook without using iBooks Author? The reason is that I created my epub in InDesign and so I cannot open the epub in iBooks Author for me to update it using the iBooks Author to iTunes Producer method...
Can I just re-upload the file on iTunes Producer and actually have it be a new update to the book on iTunes?

There is no way to import your original InDesign created ePub... into iBooksAuthor.
You can update your inDesign files..and upload as an update.
Only you know if the book is selling ...and at what rate of sales...and therefore that information is the catalyst for your choice. If it is selling well -it would seem worthwhile investing some time to rebuild and update it using iBA.
You mention spending a few days creating your book.....there are many members here who spend months creating so e examples of the most brilliant interactive iBooks currently available in the store.  However, only you can decide which of the options available to you..to opt into.

  • Trying to deliver a book to iTunes Producer

I am trying to submit my book to iTunes Producer.  It went almost an hour into loading and aborted due to the error (Assets 51). Can anyone please tell me what this means and how I can fix it?
    Thank you!

    So, I am working with
    MacBook OSX Lion 10.7.5
    ITunesProducer Vers. 2.9.1 (375)
My machine has been phased out and updating the OS will happen when ache e elel freezes.
So, I followed what other people did when receiving this error and saved my file. I exported the saved file to my desktop as an Ibooks file. I then attempted to upload the saved file and this still pops up on my screen. How do I get rid of this error without needing to buy a new machine? Or, do all Macbooks eventually become landfill lessees for a producer? Your help is appreciated.

  • Error when trying to deliver a book in iTunes Producer

I have tried to deliver a book via iTunes Producer, but I always end up with the same error message:
ERROR ITMS-9000: "Risor2013.ibooks: could not parse OPS/content22.xhtml: duplicate id: anchor-12" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage).
Does anyone have experience with this message, and know how to fix it?

And I just say for the record how much it ***** when you have to deal with a company who thinks so little of customer support, that you can't talk to anyone in person? Sheesh, the recording I got when I called hung up on me!

  • Updating your book through iTunes Producer?

    Hi,
my apologies if this question has already been addressed elsewhere, but I haven't been able to track down an answer.
I am wondering about how updated versions of books are published. I'm used to app development where I am able to issue updated versions of apps and users can see there is a new version by visiting the Updates page within the App Store app.  I've read a lot of books on my iPad in iBooks, but I've never been aware of an update being installed for any of the books I've bought.
Some of the posts suggest that it is possible to issue an updated version of a book simply by resubmitting through iTunes Producer with an udpated asset.  If this is the case, how are existing owners of the book notified, and how do they get the update?
    Thanks.

Are you talking about paid or free?
iTP, paid, says you can update 'publication' details only.
I've seen no evidence that my paid books update like my apps.

  • Error message uploading book through iTunes Producer

I'm uploading my ebook to iTunes Producer and when it is verifying assets with the iTunes store, I get the following message: Error: Internal error: java.net.MalformedURLException: unknown protocol: bundle schema/20/rng/opf.rng" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage).
I've seen others with this problem, but not apparent resolution.
    Please advise.
    Jon
PS. I'm using iTunes Producer 2.6.

I think the same error is being discussed here. It's related to the version of Java you have installed on OS X.

  • Upload book to iTunes Producer

I am still trying to figure out how to upload book... previously I gone through all steps only to get an Import Error after I successfully validate and deliver the book. I still do not know what is the problem.
So I decided to try again. I make sure the iTunes Producer is the latest (go to the web page and downloaded 2.5.1), and the iBooks Author help says export to itmsp, then drag to the Publication Preview section of iTunes Producer... but I didn't see this? I saw Open/Create package, and look up metadata.
Can someone help this newbie? I am totally lost!

I have the same problem. No preview box exists to upload the sample to... all very strange.

  • Problems uploading Publication Preview for my book in iTunes Producer

I created a book in iBooks Author (very easy), and uploaded it using iTunes Producer. However, I didn't realize I needed to create a separate sample book/publication preview. Now, when I look at my book in iTunes Connect, it says, "No publication preview uploaded. You must upload a publication preview before it can appear on the store." However, I can't find any way to upload my publication preview after the fact. Interestingly, in iTunes Producer, it says "Optional Preview", so that's why I didn't worry about including it. I click on "choose", then navigate to where I saved the sample book file, and it is greyed out so I can't select it. I did try starting from scratch, but it still didn't include the preview. If I save the preview in iBooks Author's default location, then I can't find the files anywhere on my computer, so I just saved it in my documents. Any ideas?

For the preview, when you have your book open in iBooks Author, go to the File Menu and select duplicate. This will create a duplicate copy of your book. You may want to rename it. On the second copy, decide what pages you want to include in the preview/sample book, and delete all the other pages. Once you've saved the shorter version, go to the file menu and select export. This will bring up a window, where you should make sure you've clicked on iBooks for the export type. Then it will ask you to name and save it.
Once you've done that, open the iTunes Producer file with all your book information, and find the box for the preview version and then navigate to the new file and add that. Then when you upload your book, it should include both the full book and the preview version.

  • HT5071 The process of getting your book on the iTunes store is very complicated and frustrating. After delivering your book through iTunes Producer it gives you the BIG TICK and after that you have no idea what stage your book is at.

In addition to sell your book on iTunes is a huge exercise, requiring US taxation file numbers that you have to apply directly to the tax office in the US. Once you have done that you then have to jump through several other hoops in iTunes system to be able to sell your books. Then of course I have already explaine the difficulty that I have had to get my book in the store.

I assume if you have submitted your  book.. you have already completed Apples requirements for a paid book account.
Its quite simple, Apple own the ball.. if you want to play the game... get your boots on and start running.. not standing on the sidelines and shouting FOUL  just because its not going as you expect!

  • When trying to upload a book through iTunes producer, I keep getting this error.

ERROR ITMS-3000: "Line 102 column 38: element "audience" incomplete; expected element "range" or "value" at XPath /package/book/metadata/audience_info/audience"
Any idea what it means and how I fix it?

If you are getting a message to contact iTunes support then you can do so via this link and ask them for help (on these forums we won't know why the message is appearing) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • IWeb won't update an already published page

Hi, Maddening but I've made minor changes to a page in iWeb and it simple will not display in Safari as updated. I've cleared the Safari cache and reloaded the page. So I'm thinking it's safe to suppose it's not a cache issue.
I've tried publishing the revised page alone and have tried publishing all page again.
My wild guess is that the file is failing to overwrite the old file and instead is renaming itself as another version of the original.
    Fixes?
    Many thanks

  • ITunes Producer - can't upload iba file

    Hi there,
I've created a book bundle with all my details via iTunes Producer, and the last step is uploading the publication and cover art. Cover art file uploaded fine into iTunes Producer, but the IBA files are all greyed out. It will not allow me to upload any IBA files whatever.
The below screenshot shows my iTunes Producer window, which won't let me click on the iBA file in the window directly below it. All greyed out. The window to the right is my actual IBA file that I want to upload. I don't know if it matters that the iTunes Producer file name is the name of the cover art file and not my IBA file (designforwriters-lm).
I set up my book in iTunes Producer separately from the PUBLISH button at the top of iBooks Author, because every time I tried to PUBLISH from there, the iTunes Producer box to bundle all my book details would not allow me to type in any information -- ISBN, publication date, next button -- I just got the bump sound from my computer that something was wrong and I could not do anything.
    Thanks for your help.

    1. Yes... you need to export your book when finished, do they same with your preview ( a separate book with a minimum of 15 pages.) unless you are using a chapter of the book or allowing iTunesProducer to create your preview.  Then using  Publish should work out OK, because during the delivery process you need to select both the iBooks file of your book ( and preview if its a mini bbok you intended).   Mant people  try to upload their working  file ..which is xxxxxx.iba. The .iba file opens your book in iBooks Author  and is NOT  used in the iBooks store.
    2. Preview:  you do not have to minimise the the file size by removing video.  The idea of a preview is to allow the rerader and oppportunity to examine a sample of teh books contents which may help to decide a purchase of the full book. The Preview should be  15 pages minimum. If you have - say 5 chapters, you could leave in the video and delete  everything except 3 pages in each chapter. The content is your choice- but needs to promote your book in a positive way.
Preview:  Chapter - you  indicate when asked and select the  chapter you prefer to use.
Preview: Let iTunesProducer auto create - if you select this option - you do not have to upload any file.. iTunesProducer will auto select a suitable sample to use.
    3.  If you cretae a folder  for each book you  make, and  move the books working  file..ie xxxxxx.iba file type
if/when you export a book it will be placed in that folder also.
When you reach the section to select your book and preview, if you have created one,  when you select, you  need to navigate to the folder and select the iBooks file. I don't see how you can have two files with identical names... also if you create a preview, it needs to  have a different name. I  rename to PREVIEWmybook.ibook- but anything will be OK- as long as you understand your changed name.
This way your files should not create any problems.
    4.  If you need to ..come back if it occurs again. ( which it may if you need to update the book later ).
A useful item on your  desk, is a notebook and pen!  Use it to make notes on errors or create a checklist of everything needed  in the delivery process and annotate  their individual requirements.
In truth, you seem to have done everything correctly and apart from file names..it possible previous issues create anxiety when uploading a new book.
I always  suggest having everything needed per book to be in its own folder:-
    1. book.iba file ( plus any  test version and backups ie mybookBU1.iba  PLUS  1 preview book file (xxx.ibook)  if  using one.
    2. 4 screen shots and 1 cover image at the correct size.
    3.  I use a plain txt  file with my "description "   I  write it up and change  as needed and  simply copy and past when I start a deliver process.
I appreciate you may already do this, but I include  for any newbies who  may see this later.
    Good luck with your books.....

  • ITunes producer says images too large

trying to upload epub book via iTunes producer. Get error message that images are too large, but they are not.

You need to have all the apps in iTunes to update them using your Mac. iTunes will show you an update for an app with a number at the right of "Apps", in the sidebar. Just go to Apps and press "1 update available". Sync your iPhone when the download finishes. You can also connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi and download it

  • ITunes Producer does not accept my ISBN

I am ready to submit my book and got my ISBN number today.
Everythink is already filled out in iTunes Producer, so i only wanted to enter my 13 digit ISBN number and submit.
The problem now is, that iTunes Producer tells me that my ISBN is not a valid ISBN number???
I bought this at the legal austrian ISBN authority, the number is: 978-3-200-03398-6
I checked the number online on several sites, every site says the numer is ok.
What is the problem with my number, i want to submit my book now.
    Thank you,
    Peter

    Thanks for your answer Tom.
I found out in the meantime, that i had to remove the "-" from the ISBN number, so that it only was numbers.
    Then it worked.
    Thank you.

  • ITunes Producer Price Setting Question

    Hello!
My company is working on publishing some books with iTunes Producer 2.4.
We have a series of print based books that we sell for $115.  We want to sell our iBook version
of the book at $90.  It is our understanding that if the iBook price is over $40, we can set the price
as we want.  When we try to set the price, we are restricted to $39.99 in iTunes Producer.
How can we set our book price to $90?  Are we missing/misinterpreting something?
    Thanks!

    Hello!
How did you resolve the problem? Can you state it more specifically?
    I have same questions, too.
    Thanks!
    Chester

  • ITunes Producer 3.0 is locking up

I am able to login using my book publisher account in iTunes Producer 3.0.  When I attempt to create a new "book", my new MB Pro locks up.  I can enter in a title, mybe 1-2 more fields and it locks.  If I attempt to save it after the title, it locks.  Save it before the title is entered, locks.  v3.0 is useless to me at this point!
I ahve removed it and installed it again, no change.
    Ideas?

An indicator of bugz in a new version..is lots of complaints..so far there are very few.
I uploaded a book today and used it for the first time. Its easier than the previous versions...and I had no problems.
I read on other forums of bugz or glitches with the new MB pro, perhaps a visit to your local Apple store will help.
