UPDATING AND SYNCING APPS QUESTIONS
I have brand new touch and I'm not that technically inclined but I haven't had much of a problem with applications up to this point. I have some applications that have updates and I can't seem to ge them to update. I also want to add a couple more applications but when I tried syncing them it says that if I do the sync then all the applications I already have loaded will be replaced by the ones that I want to add from my Itunes store.
also, you can turn on the "manually manage music" feature in itunes.
heres how to do that
look down to where it says "manual mode" and read from there.

The update takes a LONG time... but with the new system, you can keep using your phone during the update, so it doesnt FEEL like it is updating...
you have probably interrupted the update, just like I did
plug your phone in... "continue the update" or hit the sync button to psh it in... and leave it there
unless you have enabled sync over wifi (which still only works when you are plugged in)
just be patient... and there shouldbe a flashing "synching" symbol at the top of your phone screen -
I lost my Iphone 3GS. My brother has given me his Iphone 4 now. We both use the same notebook to update and sync our phones. I would like to know how can i reconnect back to my account using the Iphone which was previous used by my brother.
If you are saying that you both have iCloud accounts and use the same icloud ID, then yes, the contacts will be deleted. The idea is that all devices using the same icloud ID are kept in sync. You need to use different IDs. You can keep the same iTunes ID so you can share the songs and apps. But use different icloud IDs.

Sooooooo sick of trying to fix the bug with the newest version of itunes and Windows 7. I'm over it. Tried syncing ipod to hubby's laptop. When update and sync was complete, all my apps, music, and pictures were gone. When I open my itunes account on his computer, they are gone from there as well. I cannot open itunes on my computer because I cannot fix the compatability issue. Don't tell me how to go to 'computer', click 'program files' etc. etc...... Did that, unchecked compatability mode and nothing is fixed. About to take a hammer to darned thing.
Also, I have forgotten the password to my backup file, which could solve everthing. I don't really remember ever setting a password for the backup file. Tried every password I've ever used with this device.

I have an apple ID, I'm trying to use this to update and download apps etc. however, whenever I try this, it keeps asking me to use my old ID, which is attached to an email that no longer exists! I can't download or update anything! Help!
You can log out of the currently logged in account by taping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and you can then log back in.
If you updated your existing account with a new email address then that shoud 'refresh' it on it
If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can redownload its content and download updates to its apps. You should be able to update an account's email address via this page : http://appleid.apple.com -
I have registered on my PC two devices iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 4 now I am using only the iPhone 5. I have two different apple ID`s and yesterday I have FB update and from app store wanted to sign in with the ID form iPod Touch 4 how to fix it? I want to use my current Apple ID not the old one. How do I update and sync a new Iphone without adding an old Iphones Info?
I used to have an I phone 3 that was backed up on my laptop. I then got a new Iphone 4 and have never synced or updated it in a year(I know that sounds crazy lol). I want to sync and back up the info on my newer Iphone 4 without adding what was on my old Iphone 3 to it and replacing my current contacts and data. I am scared that when I go to sync it and update, it will clear my new Iphone 4 info to put on the old contacts and what not.
Will updating and syncing my new Iphone do this, or will it just clear my backed up Iphone 3 info and replace it with my newer Iphone info and back up the new Iphone 4 data? Thank you so much!!!You need to move all your data from the original computer over to the new computer first.

Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app. -

What I do when I get a new computer is the first time I turn it on is use Setup Assistant. Once Setup Assistant has finished doing its thing, the new computer is just like my old one.
