Updating applications have frozen!

I have recentley updated to the latest IOS 6.2.
Im not sure if this is an issue with the new IOS but I had 4 applications that needed updating on iphone 5, so I clicked update on them and its now been about 3 hours and there still frozen and havent updated at all.
I have gone onto itunes on my PC and have manually updated them, and its now showing on my PC that all applications are downloaded and up to date, but my phone is still showing that there installing. (They havent even started installing judging by the bars on the apps)
Can anyone offer any advice please?

I have managed to solve this issue myself, by syncing my phone with itunes via my PC.
I will have to wait until next time an application needs updating to see if the issue arises again, as my home wifi is working fine, i am using my phone via wifi so that isnt the problem.

A few apps will not update and have frozen.

About 6 apps have frozen on the download/installing option.
It is impossible to delete them via the phone. I have tried deleting them on the macbook abd resyncing but they just stay on screen in the same state.
I have performed a few resets, have logged out of apple id, resynced, restarted, phone reset and still the same.
It's so annoying as theyre apps I use a lot. I dont want to do a restore in case I lose contacts/texts, etc.
Help! Never had this issue before but apple don't seem so reliable any more...

You mentioned not wanting to lose contacts/texts after a restore. Have you done a backup? The two issues should be unrelated. I understand the nervousness about the situation, but doing a backup is going to be an important part of troubleshooting a lot of things.

I have two apple id accounts ,when i used to update application it used to prompt a default id and if the application was downloaded using the other id i would cancel and it would prompt the other id but not any more .

it just prompt the old id which im not signed in with im signed in using the new id and when i cancel nothing happens and when i try to update applications separately i have the same problem .
im signed in using the new id
the old one is my wife's so i can't delete it
the problem happens when i update all or each application by its own
using ios 5.0.1 on a iphone 3gs
the applications are downloaded using both the new and old id's
any help will be greatly appreciatedِ

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here and they don't monitor these forums - I've asked the hosts to remove yout account ids from your post.
In terms of combining accounts it's not currently possible to do so, nor to copy/transfer content from account to another.

All apps are tied to the apple id that it was used to purchase or download the app.
did you use a different id to buy the app?
you can change id, settings - appstore - apple id - log out and log in with correct id.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Open the Mac App Store and go to Purchases. Do you see Final Cut Pro X listed?
If so, open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and delete Final Cut Pro X. Then, go to the Mac App Store and download Final Cut Pro X for free.
If you don't see it in Purchases, see if it's hidden, and if so, unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928 If it doesn't work, contact with the Mac App Store support > http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact

Getting used to changes in the finder. I finally did see the Adobe Patch installer and am able to update applications individually. Should be able to attend to the main apps I use w/o further difficulty. Thnx for the help.

Update2: There is something very wrong with wireless on mountain lion recovery. I don't know what the problem is, but this link may explain:

Wireless recovery would start out with over 25 hours estimated and kept on failing. It turns out to be a two step process of downloading a few Mbytes then a 4Gbyte .dmg file, but I couldn't even download the Mbyte file. I bought the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, plugged it in, restarted recovery and download of a little more than 4Gbytes took less than an hour. My limiting factor was probably comcast home internet rate of 12Mbps. The wi-fi wireless connection should be able to do over 100Mbps, so wireless shouldn't be much slower than wired, except wi-fi wireless is broken. Now that ML is installed and updated, wi-fi seems fine now, as I am using it right now, but I haven't tried downloading a big file yet.
Don't use wi-fi wireless for Mountain Lion recovery.

Did he have find my iPhone enabled under that iCloud account? If so, add the account back to his phone. Then in the iCloud account settings, disable find my iPhone first (you will be prompted for your password), then remove the account.
Now you can create or add a new iCloud account to it using his own AppleID.
Alternatively, you could log in to your www.icloud.com account in a web browser. Using the find my iPhone app there, remove his iPhone from your list of associated devices (he will have to power his iPhone off for you to do that).
After his iPhone is set up for his own iCloud account, on your iPhone, go to
settings->iCoud->Storage & Backup->Manage Storage and delete his iPhone's backup file to make more room on your own iCloud storage account.

Is there a reason why some applications have "updates" greyed out and others don't ?

deploying using Creative cloud packager with Adobe Application Manager disabled
Some applications have the update option under "help" greyed out while others are not.
the ones that are not will try to open AAM and fail out when selected but i find it kind of weird that they cant make it the same across the board
