Updating Apps on iPhone via iTunes on a MacBook Pro

I am trying to update the apps on my iPhone via iTunes but the apps are not appearing on the Apps section to update. Could anyone help?

Hello SeamyMoore,
It sounds like you are not seeing your apps that you need to update in iTunes.  I recommend reviewing the following article to download the apps from your past purchases.  This will download the latest version of the app.  Review the section titled "Using iTunes 11 or later" or "Using iTunes 10.7 or earlier:"

I want to transfer/backup all music on my iphone itunes to my macbook pro itunes.  How can I do this?

The iPhone is not a storage/backup device.  The music sync is one way - computer to iPhone.  The only exception is iTunes purchases.  File>Devices>transfer Purchases

  • HT1414 updating app between iphone and itunes

I have an app on my iphone and it says to update using itunes, I updated on itunes and its not updated on my iphone. how can I update my app on my phone?

You didn't mentioned that you synced your phone with iTunes, just that you "updated on iTunes" (which I took to mean that you had updated the app in iTunes, not that you had synced your phone).  At any rate, verify that you have checked that app in question as well as checking "Sync Apps" on the Apps tab of your iTunes sync settings, then sync your phone.  If it still doesn't transfer, try unchecking that app followed by syncing (which should delete the app from your phone), then check the app again and sync again (which should transfer the updated app back to your phone).

  • How do I delete songs & podcast from iPhone using iTunes on new MacBook Pro

I have recently bought a new MacBook Pro after years of using PC.
First thing I have to say is that I love it. I've had a couple of problems here-and-there but these have been teething issues which these discussion boards have mostly helped me resolve... I have been unable to resolve this one issue though which I was hoping that someone could help me with....
I have plugged my iPhone into my new Mac and let it appear in iTunes but when I attempt to delete old songs or podcasts from the iPhone it does not let me delete them... I've tried holding control and clicking on the items- hoping that delete would be an option, but it isn't. Also I've notice that delete is not one of my options in the edit tab at the top of iTunes.
I understand that I can delete individual podcasts and albums/songs through the iPhone itself by swiping right and selecting delete but when I do this for All individual episodes of a podcast then the main header for the "show" still remains...
Would love if someone could help me with this- need to be able to manage the songs and podcast on my iPhone.
    Thankyou for your time.

"Ok- but what if I want to manually manage the songs and podcasts on my iPhone and somehow loose access to the computer which I used to put said songs and podcasts on the iPhone in the first place?"
The you would ned to use the backup copy of tht computer to put everything on the new computer.
"  Is there a way in which I can manage/delete the content on the iPhone using my new computer without retoring it to factory settings and starting all over again?"
You do not have to restore it, but you cannot access the music at all from this other computer until you sync it, which will erase the content.
"And just to clarify: I don't have any problems with playing the content that remains on my iPhone, it's just the managing and deleting of this content."
    I understand completely.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Updating Apps on iPhone via Sync from iTunes

I am accustomed to updating the apps on my iPhone by first downloading the new versions to iTunes and then syncing my phone. This is how I've done it for years. It no longer works this way. Now, when I download the update to my computer and sync, the iPhone still indicates that apps are waiting to be updated. So then I need to update the iPhone.
Is there a way to get the updated version of these apps to sync over to iPhone? It was easier that way. If I cannot do this, then can anyone even tell me the purpose of downloading app updates to the computer? If they just sit there without syncing over to the phone, what's the point????

OK, now it's on. But will this transfer app updates or just new apps? I really don't want to transfer all new apps to my iPhone. My kids often download apps that I don't want on my phone. Let's see what happens...
You can have it off then if you don't want the kid's stuff.
With your iPhone selected & connected to Mac iTunes Sidebar (iTunes menu > View > Show Sidebar), check if in Apps pane the apps you're interested in selected?

  • Can not update apps on iPhone or iTunes

I updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.3.3 yesterday and I now can't update any apps via my phone or iTunes.
On my phone I get the error "Cannot connect to iTunes Store"
On iTunes I get "We're sorry, we cannot complete your request on the iTunes Store at this time. Please try again later"
Any ideas on how I can fix it.......Many Thanks in advance for any help

Well I finally got the apps updated. How? I deleted them from the iPhone and then in iTunes the app became unchecked. I checked the app and then it was installed on the iPhone. The only problem was that any data associated with those apps was lost. With the games it was just the high scores, but with apps like Splash ID and Fuel Gauge it was all my passwords and a years worth of fuel fill-up data. I tried a restore of all that data using the backup, but what happened there was that when the iPhone restored the back-up it also restored the out dated app as well. Therefore the only thing I could do is re-enter al the data that was lost all over again. At least with Splash ID that was a sync with the desktop application. With Fuel Gauge it's a matter of going back and re-entering everything again. I hope this doesn't happen everytime I need to update a program.

  • I am trying to update my 2nd generation iPod via iTunes on my macbook pro but an error message with the error code -1 appears. I cannot find this code anywhere ...can anyone help?

    ...anyone?

    Try on another computer
    Then see:
    -1 error
    -1 error too
If still problem means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • How do I turn off podcast syncing between my iPhone and iTunes on my MacBook Pro?

    Hi all.
So yeah... updated my iTunes today (along with the rest of the Mavericks OS X Update Version 10.9.3) and now all the podcasts I subscribe to on my iPhone have shown up in the Podcasts section of iTunes.
Very nice of you, Apple, but I don't want them on my computer. I don't listen to them on my computer. I listen to them on my iPhone. So I'd love to find out how to turn off this mystery syncing if anyone has any insight.
    Many thanks in advance!
    J

In iTunes on the desktop open the preferences & look in the 'Store tab'.
There is a checkbox for sync podcast subscriptions, disable that & see if it helps.
It isn't clear if this syncing is part of iTunes & iOS syncing (why isnt it under the device section of iTunes?), iCloud or via an app store account.
It looks like it is a feature of the App store - but I don't recollect ever signing into the store in the podcasts app?!
If the above helps submit feedback to Apple since this seems less than clear…

  • HT1947 I can't pair Remote on my iPhone with iTunes on my MacBook Pro... Help, pls. Thanks!

I tried everything. But it looks like I haven't really done anything coz nothing worked. I don't know where to start. My iPhone 5 has an updated iOS, my iTunes is also up to date... I can't find the "Look for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad Remotes" in iTunes. At this point, I'm really lost. Help, pls!

What does this have to do with iTunes for Windows, the forum to which the question was posted?

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

  • As I was in the process of updating Iphone via itunes, I got an error message now do I need to restore and lose all my media info

I need to know how do I use my phone now since I was in the process of updating the iphone via itunes, now it is in the mode of connecting to itunes!  I really don't want to restore my phone as I may be losing all my media and other contact information!  How do I get out of the stupid mode??

Your apps / music / photos etc are stored in iTunes on your computer.
Just do the Restore then re sync your iTunes media.

Make sure and create a backup following the instructions at that link.
