Updating Apps...stuck in a sign-in loop!

I just saw that the app store shows I have 9 updates available for my iPad 3GS. When I went to update my apps, I did the typical sign-in to the App store. It appeared that it was going to go through the normal app install beginning with my flight tracking app. Shortly after the download appeared to begin, however, I received another prompt saying that I needed to login to my account. Rather than simply allowing me to log in, though, it oddly went into some type of prompt loop that would never allow me to sign-in, but kept reproducing the login prompt. It does this same routine about a dozen times or so (maybe nine, corresponding to each of my updates?), until I can finally cancel out.
I restarted the iPad, but haven't reset it yet. The problem persists. Has anyone else had any issues? BTW, I'm attempting to install the updates via WiFi, and all other wireless features seem to work fine.
I need to figure this out, but the timing also seems rather curious given yesterday's revelation of the AT&T security breach. Probably not related, but it raised my eyebrows for sure.
Any thoughts?

Figured it out. Just updated one app rather than selecting 'update all'. It allowed me to sign-in and update my credit card on file which was about to expire. Still don't know why it got caught in that loop each time, but all is well now.

  • After iOS 8.3 update, apps stuck on OPEN on App Store Updates page

Did the iOS 8.3 update by backing up my iPad Mini in iTunes then doing a "Restore". I did that with the last update and all went fine. This time, it appears to have gone well except that I had some apps that had updates pending after the Restore. After doing the updates, when I go to the App Store "Updates" page, I still have 4 of my apps listed there with the button option set to OPEN. On the upper right corner it says "Updated August 18, 2015". Yesterday when I did the update was Saturday April 25, 2015 - go figure. When I tap them they all open but they never leave the page. One post said to wait until an app had a valid update pending and see what happens after I update it, so I'll need to wait to see if that works. I have searched this community and tried all suggestions: changed the date set to manual and push it out over 30 days. That did not work. Did a reset. No luck. I even did another "Restore" thinking maybe that would resolve it, but they came right back. The puzzling thing is that in all of my searching, I have found apps stuck in differing states of "waiting" or "downloading", but none of them have mentioned seeing the apps with the OPEN option visible. I did delete the apps and that made them go away, but I'd prefer to keep them. Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks in advance...slog

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • Red dot update apps stuck

I just got an iPhone 6 and after updating from my iPhone 4s, there are 17 apps that need updates. I've updated all the apps and synched the iPhone twice. The "update all" choice is grayed out. I have iOS 8.1.1. I've restarted the phone, turned off wifi and cellular data. The red dot for update apps remains there. Any suggestions?

  • Stuck in Infinite Sign-In Loop.  Again.

Ok, so this has happened a few times before, and it is seriously frustrating!  I've tried changing my region, I've reset my credit card details, and I've restarted both ITunes and my computer several times.  I can still access and purchase apps from the App Store, sign in to appleid.apple.com and use ICloud.  The only thing I can't seem to do is download anything from ITunes.
Seriously, what gives?  Is Apple EVER going to solve this problem?!

it could be because I dragged a directory, FCP is doing this for every file in that directory.
In Windows, when this happens, you can set a weight on the ESC key and let it run until it's done. I guess Macs haven't gotten that far in paperweight technology yet.

  • When I launch product I get stuck in a sign in loop.   Does anyone know how I get round this?

Each time I get a sign in message with y ID on it, I select sign in, receive a thank you message, I then select continue - only to get the initial sign on message.  I am signed in.

When I try to update my apps it says sign in required and will not let me update them

I suspect you have apps that need updating that were purchased from more than one account
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Still need a password to update apps purchased by another Family Sharing member!

On iOS 8.1, I can enter App Store app, tap on the Purchased tab at the bottom, and then tap the upper-left corner to choose one of the members in the same Family Sharing members, then tap on the "download cloud" icon next to any apps purchased by that member. Doing so, I don't need to enter the password that Family Sharing member's Apple ID.  But, whenever apps, those purchased by other Family Sharing members, have an update, I would need to change the Apple ID to that Family Sharing member and enter the password, in order to enable the app update. Or, those apps will stay on the Updates page of the App Store app, waiting to be updated, forever.
How can the app update of apps purchased by other Family Sharing members be set automatic?

No. To update apps you have to sign intot he account that purchased them.
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
Just purchase the apps with your account

  • Unable to update app: different Apple accts!

Got Dream Dresses app with daughter's apple ID as she was teaching me how to use/play with apps. Before she left for college she closed her account AND created an acc for me so that i would continue playing and I loved it.  I got new Apple acc so i could continue downloading apps without having to be linked to nobody's Acc (daughters).  The Dream Dresses App is still in my phone BUT I cannot update because when I try to do so i get the blue little box which shows the ID and space for my password.  Well, it reverts back to daughter's acct: it won't reflect my new acc, although it has been changed in "Settings."  If i go to settings, my new acc shows correctly.  i contacted the creator ("Breaktime Studios") and they swear this is an Apple issue: they won't help!  SOMEBODY must have a solution to my dilemma.  I want to continue playing Dream Dresses.  I am in Level 32 I think, and have invested enough energy, time, and money to simply give up and delete game only to have to re-install and start anew. Not fair!

    - This may work if you get the data from the backup, delete her app and download the app using your account.

  • HT204266 iphone wont update apps

my iphone 4gs wont update apps - i have tried signing in and out of the app store. also rebooted and tried syncing with laptop. just keeps asking for my password and when i put it in it goes back to update

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new apps or software.
If this does not work, set it up as new device, explained in this article:

  • Cannot update App Store app

I can update other apps through the App Store, but not the App Store app, itself. When I tru to update, it asks for the password for the account of the previous user of the iPod. In the App Store settings, I have my current Apple ID and it is used for most apps when I update them. But not for the App Store app.
How can I update the App Store app, itself, so that it will use my current id instead of the previous user's id?
    Tim
PS - I have been reading the forums and have tried the trick of exiting the App Store app and restarting it, but it does not help. It still wants to use the previous owner's account id.

  • Updating apps on iPod that has multiple Apple ID

I have 2 IPads, 2 IPhones and 3 iPods . I am unable to update apps on 1 iPad and 2 Ipods. I hit update - appears to begin install then stops and update box reappears . If I have used more than one ID on a device I assume the ID the app was purchased with would be the one required to update. I am at a total loss . Spent 2 hours on phone with Apple support and only managed to get 1 app updated on one of the iPods. This is driving me crazy and I have invested so much time. I remember when these were the simplest devices to manage. Any suggestions.

    Update Apps
    - Go to settings>iTunes and App Store and sign out and sign into your account.
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

The purchased apps that came with the iPod id not transfer with the iPod. They remained licenced to the purchaser. You should delete them.

There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's.  Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content.
