Updating ATI drivers HP Envy Phoenix H9-1350.

Hello,
I just purchased a Hp Envy Phoenix H9-1350.  I have installed all of the windows update that it shows I need, and in the DXDIAG it shows the card as being a Radeon HD 7670.  The driver shows no version like the usual ATI cards I'm used too and the driver date is listed as 9/21/2012.
When I try to update the driver via AMD's website, the driver never actually installs.  Same with CCC.  When I go to HP's support website to download drivers, I get CCC, but the driver does not seem to update.  The time is still listed as 9/21/2012.
Because the drivers are so old, the performance I get in games is not what should be had with the system specs that the machine has.  The operating system the computer is running is Windows 8.  How do I go about updating the graphics drivers in this machine?  I suppose I'd specifically like to install Catalyst 13.1, including the updated driver.  13.2 beta would be even better as that specifically improves Guild Wars 2 performance by quite a bit.  Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Hi:
I know what model PC you have, and what the specs are, and yes, you could remove and replace the video card.
What I am saying is that since I don't have your model PC or anything remotely related to it (I only buy/use HP business PC's), I am not in any position to confirm that installing a different video card (or a specific model video card) is guaranteed to work in your model.
What I am saying is...I see no reason why removing the current card and replacing it with one that works within the constraints of the power supply, would not work.
However, many times I read posts where folks install video cards in various PC's and for whatever reason, a certain model video card won't work in that PC and I wouldn't see any reason for that.  But it happens.
You're going to have to roll the dice and see what happens, or you can start a new thread and see if anyone knows what specific video cards will work in your PC.
I agree that risking $100 is a lot of  $$$ on a bet.
I have installed video cards in many PC's, and only once did one fail to work (even though it should have).

  • 280x issue's since latest windows update/ati drivers

    Hello ,
Since a couple of days i have been having the weirdest issues with my system. It all started after i updated my windows and updated the ati drivers to 14.4. I would notice flickerings on both my monitors and out of nowhere when playing flash movies the screen goes berserk (always just the left monitor) :
    http://members.ziggo.nl/dannyvanschie/280/20140427_174313.jpg - look what i mean :
if i would kill the program (aka firefox) then 50% of the time the screen would recover.
I tried 14.4 ,14.3 and now im on 14.1 rc 1 hoping this will work , however its also flickering again , or when i open a browser you can see the second monitor jump up and down for just 1 second.
I removed all drivers with DDU and made sure i did that in safe mode so that could not be the issue aswell. It dont think its the PSU since its on 12v constantly when under heavy load and its just 3 weeks old.
could it be an bios issue ? is there a new vga bios available for my card ? And has anybody ever seen this issue before , since i havent and i have seen a lot of broken weird things haha.
Rest of my specs in the sig are still the same.
    cpu-z :

update 2 : had 1x the same as the first picture , do notice that according to gpu-z my gpu core is running at 500mhz atm... It stays that way even when playing BF4 , but BF4 itself is as smooth as a baby.
i have manually set the clock to 1050 / 1500mhz in msi overburner and the gpu-z sensors dont change , but still the game runs fluid.

  • U330 Updated ATI Drivers that support soft switch of GPU?

Is there a way to update the ATI video drivers and Catalyst Control Center that also support the GPU soft switch? I find it annoying that the last update is from August 2008, and no ATI drivers will work otherwise.

    Hi,
I think that APS is not working properly. It is too acurate. When I just move my laptop in APS application I can see that my laptop is shaking for a 30 seconds and then my hard drive is stopped. I knew that everything couldn't be great. How can they  (Lenovo) publish drivers without testing them?? Now there are two drivers, first the MOST important - switchable graphics - and now APS. I am just wondering why always Ideapads have to have problems with drivers?? We were waitng for a year without any support and now they give us faulty drivers. CONGARTUATIONS Lenovo!!!

  • K9A Plat: Updating ATI Drivers...to remove all or not to remove all...

okay, im a little confused over this whole ATI updating deal.  My problem is that my VGA cards are ATI and ATI just came out with 8.6.  Now, as far as chipset, that does not seem to have updated, which leads me to my question.
As per ATI instructions (http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=20870 , when updating my existing ATI graphics package, I am supposed to uninstall all existing ATI software before running the installer package.  Does this mean I have to remove all ATI shtuff (wont that remove my chipset package)...or is there a way to uninstall just the VGA card portion?  please assist as I am a little confused and dont want to melt my machine.
Basically, what im asking is how do I remove the ATI VGA package so I can update it without messing up my ATI chipset installation?

Quote from: BOSSKILLER on 25-June-08, 09:48:56
Why do you want to update them? For your old VGA "VGA:  Sapphire Radeon x1950 Pro" probably will bring you nothing more
Kinda like updating the OS...and I am already going to be calling MSI about my board (RAID issues) and one of the first things they always ask, even if it has nothing to do with the problem, is "Have you updated all your drivers?"  This is from experience and telling them no on any of them basically gets you where you where before you made the call.
Update software!!!  It's to help w/bugs in other parts of the app that existed in previous versions.  Not to say that I am experiencing any of these, however, if ATI says that 8.6 is the latest for my particular VGA setup then should I not trust that I should follow ATI's advice and update to the latest version.  If MSI had an update to the chipset package (that was more of a global) they would still put it out and reccomend you update.
Thats why I am going to update the VGA package.  And what if it was an update that would 'bring me more' from my VGA.  How do I follow ATI's instructions or does this mean I simply remove all ATI with their tool and re-install both VGA and chipset?
Additionally, I will check the driversweeper package, but I was looking for more of an explanation of how to follow ATI's instructions for updating VGA without screwing my chipset.
I am sure, however, that driversweeper will prove to be a great tool in my arsenal!!!  thnx BOSSKILLER!!!

  • New updated ATI drivers for MBP

    Hi!
I would like to know where I could find new drivers for the ATI chip? When I play Half Life 2 the system asks for updated drivers, but when I look around at www.ati.com/drivers I can´t find any drivers that fit my system....
They have a support site for ATI Mobility Radeon, but they don´t support Apple..
Does anyone know how to find the latest drivers?
MacBook Pro 15 2,16Ghz   Windows XP

If you want a tiny bit better preformance, though more for the fact of better stability and the possibility to overclock it to the 'proper' clocks, i suggest the omega drivers. www.omegadrivers.net - simple, and easy to install. They are the latest catalysts also from when i last checked. They also wont give you a hassle if you overclock teh card, unlike teh apple ati ones
    good luck!

  • When waking up from standby, monitors power up but no picture is displayed. HP ENVY Phoenix h9

Product: HP ENVY Phoenix h9 PC Series
    Product #: H3Y51AA#BL
    Model: h9-1387
    OS: Windows 8 64-bit
    Monitors: DELL 2407WFPHC x 2
Updated graphics drivers to latest non-beta version.
    Hello,
Since purchasing my PC a few months ago, there has been one "display" problem after another. This is the current problem:
When stepping away from my computer, I lock it via Win+L and shortly after my monitors turn off. When returning a short time later, I attempt to wake up (But not really "wake up"... To try and fix previous display problems, I've already disabled hibernation and sleep options) my computer by moving my mouse. This causes the monitors to exit standby and power up, but all that is dispalyed is black screens when I should have been presented with the login screen.
Mouse and keyboard clicks do nothing and I'm stuck at black screens. To continue, I press my PC's power button which causes the hard drives to spin-up and shortly after the computer turns off. I press the power button again and the computer boots to the login screen where once I enter my password, Windows loads and all my programs etc are displayed as they were before I locked my PC.
You can see previous problems I've had listed below, hopefully they will also help you detect the cause of the current problem.
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Peter
    Previous problems that I've had:
    1) When waking from hibernation, the computer would not wake monitors from standby leaving no way to login and save work. Hard reboot required. Solution: Disable Windows hibernation features.
    2) Error along the lines of "Display driver failed and have recovered". Possible solution: Disabled hardware acceleration in Firefox.
    3) When waking from standby, I find my 2 monitors have merged into one, and at a different resolution than normal. Once entering password to login, programs that were on seperate monitors are now on the same monitor. Right-clicking the desktop and selecting "Screen Resolution" -> "Detect" would set the monitors back to normal until the problem occurs again. Possible solution: Updated graphics card driver. Not sure if this problem has been fixed, it may have just been covered up by the new problem mentioned above.

    Hey peterallcdn,
I'm sorry you're running into this resuming from sleep issue. Sometimes services that are trying to resume can cause issues like this. I would suggest trying a clean boot (booting with only essential system services running) and then seeing if it resumes from sleep properly.
Here are the steps to disable non-critical services:
    1. Windows + Q to bring up Search
    2. Type 'msconfig' and press Enter
    3. Click the Services Tab
    4. Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box
    5. Click the Disable All button
    6. Click Apply and Restart
When you restart Windows should only load essential system services, no 3rd party software. Lock the computer and let it go into sleep mode as you usually do and then try to resume from sleep. Let  me know what the result of that is.
I have seen other cases where Google Talk or antivirus programs will prevent the computer from resuming properly.

  • HP ENVY Phoenix h9-1420t CT slows down 100x after 30 minutes of startup, requires constant reboot

Windows 8, now Windows 8.1 does the same. After about 30 minutes everything is so slow.
For example: at first start, start up Control Panel is less than 1 second. After 30 minutres, Control panel takes 1Min 45 seconds to open. A Internet Explorer search goes from 1 second to over 1 minute.
Control Panel shows less than 3% total CPU and only a fraction of the total RAM is used. There are no strange applications running.
Running Paid version of Kaspersky. Run Microsoft Defender - no virus or registry errors.
Twice HP support instantly determines (with no facts) that it is a "virus" and had me install the Windows 8 OS from scratch. This didn't change anything either time. I am a little upset at all that time wasted because it requires installing all of the updates, then MS Office 2013. That is all we are trying to use on this machine. It is not a gaming or web surfing machine. We can't use it for MS Office because it failes to respond after about 30 minutes.
I have updated all the November drivers for motherboard, drive and others listed.
I manage over a dozen computers, this is a problem for the HP Envy Phoenix since day 1.
We are holding off on ordering any more HP in 1 qtr 2014 if this can't be fixed.
We won't accept it has a virus again unless HP can at least provide some proof or reasonable instructions.
We are very open to getting this fixec, but have spent over 100 hours of time and lost huge productvity. Our employee is working on an XP machine so they can stay more productive.

    Hi Tesla3D,
One item of possible interest in your post is running both Kaspersky and Windows Defender.
You should turn off Defender in Control Panel.
That could be what is slowing down your system.
Note to self, check date of post!

  • Ati drivers no longer work after upgrade

I was trying to mount a vfat partition the other day, to copy files from a friends USB drive. It would not mount no matter what I did. I had found out that for some reason, the last kernel that I updated to did not have the proper character set enabled in it before it was compiled. I noticed there was a new kernel, and decided what the heck, and gave it the old pacman -Syu
I rebooted after this only to find my x server now crashes. So I did some research and it seems that there is a lot of complaints about this new xorg 1.5. So I thought about downgrading, but decided against it. I did a hwd -x, and copied over the xorg.conf.vesa, and restarted X. It worked. I then tried with the ati driver and it doesnt work.
So I am using x, with the vesa driver. And I can view videos (these were the files I wanted to copy from my friends USB drive. Although I can now mount it, and have copied them fine.)

BTW, when the xserver fails, I select yes to see the output, and it skips the output and tells me to re-enable x when I have configured it properly. So I cant seem to get you that information.
Side note: I can also not upgrade gnome-terminal. I get this error:

I am not impressed by the update problems I have been having recently. I've been using arch for a while now, and everything has gone smooth exept for the last 2 months, I have had about 5 seperate issues. Not sure if im the only one feeling this. Might be my set up who knows.

The xorg.conf.ati was renamed to xorg.conf. I had named it back when it didnt work. And renamed xorg.conf.vesa to xorg.conf to have a usable x session.
Here is my output for Xorg.0.log

I have tried to remove the xorg.conf and retry the x server. It opens but I have no keyboard or mouse control and the resolution is incredibly small (640.480?). I can not log in, or change to any tty because of a lack of keyboard, and I am stuck rebooting my computer, which results in a fsck and all that good stuff.
As for the gnome-terminal problem, I managed t get around it by removing the package, updating my system, and reinstalling gnome-terminal. I wanted to try that since there were new ATI drivers waiting to be installed. But the new ATI drivers do not seem to do me justice. :S
And sorry for not getting back right away. I was just using the VESA drivers to get me by. I had a lot of work to do before the holidays. And now im back on it.

  • Serious W7 Bug - ALL ATi Drivers for Thinkpads /w Switchable Graphics Technology bricks OS.

Alas, i have found one serious bug for my Thinkpad.
It comes with Switchable Graphics Card Technology, with an Intel GMA 4500MHD and ATi Mobility Radeon 3470 paired together.
I have initially installed Pre-RTM 7260(ok, i know it's leaked), and faced the problem for the first time after installing the ATi drivers from either Windows Update OR ATi's website. However i have downgraded back to Release Candidate as there was stability issues with EXPLORER.exe
Anyway, surprising what i've though to be a show-stopper bug was also present in RC 7100. After installing(or rather, midway through) the driver installation, the screen blinks for a moment and after that, Explorer.exe is nowhere to be found with only wallpaper. OS seems to be bricked as restart does nothing. Only a System Restore prior to installation would solve the issue.
After diagnosing the problem, i have found the issue to be with the Switchable Graphics Card system. In BIOS, it was set to Swithable Graphics, with OS Detection set to Enabled, Thinkpad LCD Display(for output). I tried to set the graphics to either Discrete(ATi) or Integrated(Intel) but when i booted the system up it was in SVGA resolution and DXDIAG stating no graphics found. When it was in Discrete, i tried to install the ATi drivers once again, and although installation was successful, after restarting the same thing happened.
To be fair, i have repeated the drivers installation EXACTLY the same for both Windows 7 Builds(7100 RC and 7260 Pre-RTM) and the same problem occured. I have also tried to install the ATi drivers before the Intel Chipset(and basically the rest) and it's the same nevertheless.
I believe that this is a serious issue with Switchable Graphics Technology for Windows 7 Beta, since we have to make do with the generic Microsoft display adapter alone. I hope Lenovo engineers can put priority a solution for this as soon as possible.

    This is my updates.
PS: The Ati card is showing a triangle icon in Device Manager too, but i guess updating it brings the same bricking result.

Sorry to hear you are having difficulties.
When I installed RC1 (build 7100), it came with a built-in driver that worked just fine for the discrete graphics in my W500.
A few weeks later, I installed the current release Vista driver for integrated graphics (this one) and it is working just fine as well.  Installing the Lenovo driver gave me the ATI control panel (not sure what use that is), otherwise, it didn't affect performance either way.
I have switchable graphics turned off in the BIOS, OS detection turned off, and have the machine set to use the discrete graphics only.  I think it would be a bit much to expect either Microsoft or Lenovo to support the switchable graphics this early in the development of Windows 7.  Besides, the discrete graphics doesn't eat up the battery that much - I still get 3 hours of battery life, which is sufficient for my needs.
Maybe try turning switchable graphics and switchable graphics detection off in your BIOS, that might get you running again.

  • Envy Phoenix desktop Freezes and Event ID 7

I am on an Envy Phoenix 800-060, running Windows 8.1, fully updated. Freezes will occur at any time, and the only way to get past them is to do a hard reboot. Occasionally, I can wait 10-15 minutes and the system will come back to the living slowly, but not often.
After checking the Event Viewer, I noticed there were around 700 drive errors (Event ID 7) in the past 24 hours. The only drive plugged anywhere into the computer was the main harddrive (1 TB) and the recovery HD (20-ish GB, not sure as my desktop is currently catatonic). Is it safe to assume the main HD is dying? I would be okay with just buying a new one and a copy of Windows 8.1. I just want to be sure it would fix the issue.
Extra info: I have done everything from disabling the dynamic tick, to System File Check(SFC), and Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool. None of them affected the death-freeze.
The SFC was unable to fix a file(s)
DISM seemed to fix what SFC failed to fix
EDIT: I posted this when an error check on the main HD (supposedly) had 12 days left to finish. It finished, but with no errors detected.
    This question was solved.

The guide that I reviewed for your computer mentioned SMART.  However, it appears there is a difference.  It appears that the hard drive has failed.  Therefore, I don't believe that the Recovery will work.  You can give it a try, however.
When you replace the hard drive, you should assure that the new drive is the same size or larger than the current drive.  Here is a guide that you can use after replacing the drive.  It is for Win 7, but it should be close to the same as Win 8.  It will give you the main idea of how to proceed.

  • 8.1 64 bit Desktop Envy Phoenix Slow running system

I just purchased the »HP ENVY Phoenix 810-130qe CTO Desktop PC
I have updated all required updates, updated firmware for router and modem. The system is running 8.1 64 bit, in Windows 11. It is continiously freezing on webpages. it stops  scrolling to reload, This problem is in hotmail.com (direct from explorer), myfitnesspal.com, facebook, foxnews.com. It is becoming very frustrating on a very expensive desktop directly purchased from HP. My husband has a new ASUS 8.1 and has no problems with downloads or uploads or freezing. I am within my 20 day return of this system. And I did return this same system a month ago due to this same issue. Please help in this. If Windows 11 and 8.1 are having issues, please let the consumer know that it is being worked on.

Update!      so far 2+ hours and not a single freeze or slow load.
I was on  Microsoft.com forum site:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie11-iewindows8_1/internet-explorer-with-windows-81-very...
And I believe I've got the help to fix the problems.  see link above.
The problem is HP SimplePass, specifically, OPBHOBrokerDsktop.exe and HPSimplepassBHOBroker. Killing both of those processes solved the problem. They are running by default on the new machines.
I uninstalled HP SimplePass and all is good.
A web search of SimplePass Windows 8 brings up hundreds of hits where people are having difficulty with it working on Win8.1.  Fact is, working or not it's killing performance in a big way.
Woohoo!!!    so far so good!           After hours this week working with internet provider, router, and HP.    Simple answer!!       Hopefully HP can work on the issues in HPSimplePass,   but in the mean time I"m not running on my system.

  • Should I use the default video drivers or should I install ATI drivers?

I have a macbook pro with the ATI card in it. Should I download and use the ATI drivers that they provide on their website? Am I going to see benefits or should I stick with the drivers in the recent bootcamp update?
    thanks

any reason why not using ATI drivers? When I play a game it says the driver it outdated (steam games for example), installing ATI drivers resolves this problem.
Not that I play a lot of games on my laptop, but I'm just thinking maybe I'll get better performance with ATI drivers with other 3D software (I use 3ds max a lot, and others).

  • Envy Phoenix Crashes While Streaming Video on Dual Displays

Last week Thursday my brand new Envy Phoenix 800-030qe was delivered.  I pretty much maxed it out Win 8 Pro, Haswell i7-4770K , GeForce GTX 660, 256 GB SSD.  I also ordered dual 27” monitors, the 27xi model.
When I play two videos in full screen simultaneously, one on each monitor, after a few minutes, the computer will just automatically reboot.  Last night I had Sunday Night Football streaming on one monitor, while watching a lecture on YouTube and it crashed, Saturday I was trying to play a video podcast while wanting to check out a specific scene on a movie on blu ray and it crashed.  Call me old fashioned, but I still use Winamp as my media player.  I’m using the latest version, and I like to use the Milkdrop visualization, when I have it going full screen on both displays the computer reboots after a few songs.
I’ve always been an HP fan, and I was under the impression this computer, especially considering what I paid for it, could not only handle what I want to do today, but what I will want to do 5 years from now.  I though the combo of this video card and this CPU and the liquid cooling would be able to handle dual video streams with a breeze.   I have a Dell Octiplex at work, running a Ivy Bridge i5 and a lesser video card from ATI/AMD and while I was out earlier I had Winamp streaming with the Milkdrop visualization spanned across both of my Dell 24” displays and in the hour I was gone it did not crash.
Any ideas?  I was going to do a System Restore Wednesday night, install 8.1 when it comes out on Thursday and see if that helps.  If Not I’ll still have almost 2 weeks and I’ll probably end up sending this thing back.  It's a shame, I really had high hopes for this PC.

    Hi racrdan,
With regards to your computer shutting down when streaming two different videos across your two monitors, I have included the document for troubleshooting lock up and freeze ups here. As far as hardware capability you certainly should be able to do those multiple tasks without issue. This leads me to believe we have a software issue/conflict. So with regards to Step 2: Using System Restore, obviously you don't need to do this step since it has always behaved this way. I would at this point try another media player such as VLC, to see if you can recreate the crash/ lock up.
Please let me know what happened during steps, thank you.

  • Updating video drivers in Boot Camp

I recently installed Windows 7 on my 24" '08 iMac (3.06 dual core with Nvidia 8800GS) using Boot Camp 3.0. Everything is working quite nicely but I'm wondering if I can get updated Nvidia drivers directly from Nvidia's site for their 8800 series of cards.
In the Windows driver update update it says I'm up to date and the Nvidia system utility says that newer drivers aren't available. There are more up to date drivers, however, and I'm wondering if there's any issue downloading new drivers from Nvidia and installing them? Has anyone had experience with this?

The guide on drivers heaven tells you all you need to know, disable the UAC in vista and reboot. Download the ATI driver package which is now 8.6, extract the package and then cancel the install. Use the mod tool and then navigate to the ATI folder and double click setup. It should run perfectly and all is well, I did it the other day with my iMac which has the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT chip. The simple way to say what the mod tool does is that it changes the driver to recognise the apple signature on the chip.

  • Hp envy phoenix 810 shuts down by itself when not in use

I purchased a HP Envy Phoenix 810 December 2013 and use Windows 8 365 on it.  This is a home computer and is used for general purposes - no gameing, etc.  It will just shut itself down when we are not using it for awhile, but not on a consistent basis.  For example, early Sunday it had shut itself down sometime, I started it in the morning, and twice more it shut itself down through the day.  I finally turned it back on Monday afternoon, and it stayed on through the evening and night, and it was still on Tuesday morning.  I can't seem to find a pattern to when it decides to shut down.  I've run Norton, Malwarebytes, Superantivirus and haven't found anything.  I have the same computer & software (Norton, Microsoft 365) at work and haven't had a problems with it.  I've updated it with HP's updates.  Any suggestions?

Usually when a computer shuts down it is because of an overheat problem but doubtful it it is a idle.  Be sure that it is no near any heat source and that the fans are clean with no obstructions and use a can of air to clean the inside of the computer.
Another cause is the power supply, either the PSU is faultering or the wall socket may be getting some interupts.  Worth checking out.
Have a look at your power settings in the Control Panel, see this site:
