Updating blog

Everything was working fine, until the recent update (2.0.4). I use a 3rd party ftp (fetch atm) and now
when i "publish to folder" and upload my site, my new (since last update 2.0.4) blog entries are no longer accessable. All blog entry Summaries are viewable on the first page are there, but when I click on an entry to view the entire entry it brings up the following msg...
"Not Found
The requested URL /OK/Pictureof_the_Day/Entries/2008/11/5Raksa:â€™a.html was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
Prior to update, was a simple straightforward process...now it seems the update changed something so i have to subscribe to MobileMe to have this "feature"?? Is there anyway to continue using iWeb '08 without subscribing to MobileMe?

I think some servers cannot deal with the curly apostrophe represented by the â€™ in that page name. Sometimes this can be made to work by using Cyberduck instead of Fetch to upload your stuff. Also you can set iWeb to use straight apostrophe's instead of curly ones via Preferences > Automatic Correction > uncheck the box for smart quotes.

Why is my updated blog page not uploading?

I am having a problem getting my new entry updated blog page to upload to my website. Is there a step I'm not doing and cannot find an answer in the "help" section or in here. I have done it before with ease. I have my upload ftp info all filled out correctly. I am not using a 3rd party app. Is there something I am to delete before the newer page is uploaded? Can't figure this out.

How do you know it's not uploading? If iWeb indicates that it has uploaded all files and it's not showing it could be as simple as clearing your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and reloading the page.

Having problems updating blog

I have tried several times tonight to update my blog, but it's not getting to my home page. Here's what I'm doing:
1.) I'm publishing the page to the site folder on my desktop. I'm previewing it and it's fine.
2.) I'm using Filezilla to transfer the files. I transfer the site folder and the index.html page. Everything is transferring fine.
I cleared out the cache in Firefox and Safari. There's no update on my blog page. Any ideas? Thanks!

Just want to update the problem everybody is having downloading the new update. If you waited, and didn't try to reinstall or anything, it looks like a "fix" is coming to you. My previous ITunes was working fine so I decided to just wait it out and see if Apple would fix it. Knew it wasn't my computer because of all the same questions in this forum. And I want to let all to know that when I signed on to my computer today an Apple Software Update window popped up on my desktop. (Not the little one we've all been clicking on from the ITunes screen.). This came up right on my desktop. I clicked on it to download and it worked like a charm. After it was done downloading I pulled up ITunes and all looked great, all my purchases, songs were still there. I then plugged in my IPod and then my IPad and they both synced, etc., ....all is well again! So it you didn't try to re-install or anything, and have just been waiting and using your current version of ITunes, be patient. Looks like the fix will be coming to you, too.

IWeb not updating blog site

I am trying to update my blog but even tho iWeb on my computer shows the change, the archive on the web site also shows the change, the home page does not. Does anyone have any ideas for why this doesn't work? My blog page is:

I see it all fine. You must have fixed it or....
Maybe what you had was a cache problem. Since your pages weren't cached in my browser I saw it fine. But the old pages were most likely cached in your browser. After you update....clear the cache in Safari. Another method is to add a question mark at the end of the url address. That forces it to clear. Also over time it will natually update......so after awhile you will see the changes w/o clearing the cache.

How to update blog

I've got a blog set up and working on a non-.mac website. But whenever I want to update the blog with a new entry, it has to reload the entire site, as opposed to just adding a new page and new directory and it takes forever. I'm using a web hosting account provided by GoDaddy and using their FTP client to update the site. (And you've just reached the limit of my computer knowledge about this sort of thing.)
How do I simplify this process?

If I understand correctly, you are using iWeb to create a blog, then using the "Publish to Folder..." command, then uploading it to Godaddy via their Control Panel.
If so, after you Publish to folder, then open the folder and only FTP the blog folder.
I also suggest using a FTP client such as Fetch which is much faster then Godaddy's control panel.
This is just another example of why I pay about $8 per month for .Mac

How to update Blog picture at right column?

Dear all,
It maybe a silly question but I fail to figure out for days... I created a blog using the default template. At the right column there are "Blog tools" and a "camera" picture with description "No, this isn't actually my
picture. I just haven't gotten around ....."
How can I update this picture?

its using the CEWP. once you select the webpart, click on edit source then change the image blogabout96.png to your image.

Update blog from other computers?

I think I already know the answer here but...
We've created a blog on iWeb. In the near future, we're doing some traveling and will not have our Mac with us. Is there a way to update this blog via the Internet, or are we stuck using another service/format like blogger?
Part two - if we do need to use another service for our blog, does anyone have advice on easily integrating it to an iWeb created site?

I had the same question, last summer. I found a solution by using www.posterous.com. That is a site where you can publish blogs by sending emails (it also supports pictures). If your mobile phone supports sending emails or MMS, there is nothing more that you should take with you on your trip.
In order to make your blogs visible on your site, you can use a html snippet, and insert the code of the the website. Than, each blog that you send to www.posterous.com will be visible at your site.

Problems updating blog with Blogger

I want to make a new post to a blog I maintain with Blogger. First problem is that I can't enter text in the "compose" mode for the post body. I have to use "edit html" mode, which I guess will do in a pinch, but is not optimal.
Secondly, when I try to attach a photo, the option is grayed out. I have pictures in my camera roll as well as in photo albums, but Safari won't give me access to them to upload.
Any ideas how I can do this?

I've googled around for some time and also queried this forum, but could not find any suggestions. To me it seems quite ok what is done here. And it is some standard Typo3 code.

Unable to update BLOG field

Ability to email blog updates in iWeb?

I really want to love the new iWeb '08, but I haven't yet jumped on the bandwagon.
While I like the original version that came with my 1st gen MacBook last summer, it has a lot of limitations.
I primarily blog - and as such it's important to me (especially with the iPhone) to be able to do this on the run. Right now I use Typepad, which lets me email updates (and photo) to a unique email address which then is posted on my blog. Not being able to do this is a dealbreaker, as I rarely post while sitting in front of my actual computer (I'm all about real time).
Anyway - my question. Is there an ability in iWeb '08 to do this? Or any other way I can blog via iWeb from my iPhone? It would seem like a no-brainer - Apple creates this fantastic device, and it would make perfect sense that you should be able to update blogs and websites from the phone on the go. Maybe a blog interface to iWeb via your .Mac account?
If anyone knows how to do this, please tell me. I will go get iWeb right now and migrate my blog from its current location to my .Mac iDisk and be a happy little camper.

It doesn't do this natively, which I was very disappointed about. It was a feature I was really hoping would be included.
It might be possible to script it if your mac that runs iweb is running all the time somewhere (monitor email for specific heading, create new blog post, insert body, publish)
If I had time, I'd look into it, but as my place of work filters mac.com, there's not a whole lot of incentive any more...

Blog Updating made simple?

Good afternoon! I am a newbie to web publishing and want to know how I should go about updating blog enteries in the most efficient way with iWeb. I am publishing my site to a folder on my desktop for uploading to my server using CyberDuck.
Do I have to re-publish the whole "blog" folder or bits of it? And if I publish bits of it, say one entry html and its associated file, is my archive and pictures going to be all screwed up? And finally, why does a site update simply at .mac (with all of the links and buttons the right color and whatnot) while the same info to the folder results in inconsistent results? Am I doing something wrong during the publish process?
For a quick example of this, please go to my blog sites and see the subtle differences. Note - my .mac account will close in 48 hours from this posting (06 Oct 2006).

Since you are going to be uploading your files to your own server, you will have to use iWeb's "Publish to Folder" option which does indeed publish the whole site everytime. With most FTP programs there is no choice but to upload the whole site each time to your server as well. This seems prohibitive, to say the least.
I have heard good things about an alternative FTP program called "CaptainFTP". This program has a built in synchronization feature that allows you to have to upload just the changed files to your server. I believe that you have to tell it to ignore file dates for this to work with iWeb's "Publish to Folder". You can find more info about the program here... http://captainftp.xdsnet.de/

PS. Both URLs look to have identical content to me. So you are uploading correctly. I would not recommend uploading things piecemeal by hand if you can avoid it.

Blog and personal domain/store, SEO & other issues

I'm using the blog format to provide helpful tips, dynamic content and general marketing for our online store. The .Mac points to a subdomain, not directly to the site and the content can be viewed through the store pages in a frame (GoLive). I've submitted sitemaps to google for both the store site and blog subdomain and many questions, lots of uncertainity and variable scenarios on this and .Mac versus maybe better SEO friendly options like Wordpress and .Mac's general sluggishness. I like the ease of updating with .Mac and the main reason I have taken the .Mac to personal domain approach was the Search capability.
1) Is there a way using GoLive or 3rd party option to search for blog content if I simply Published to folder and upload content & pages in the site versus the personal domain approach?
2) If I update blog content directly to the site, what other steps aside from, resubmitting the sitemap to Google are good SEO practices?
3) How does the blog via subdomain sitemap/Google content get crawled? So far the visible links appear to correlate to 'Number of Excerpts to Show'. plus the main blog page and archive page. Will submitting the sitemap in a particular level of the blog folders affect the crawling to maximize content discovery?
4) Does having content in a frame from the subdomain from a .Mac account affect SEO & possibly get into Duplication of Content issues?
5) Probably more questions to follow depending on logical direction and tweaks...
Any insights, input or tweak suggestions are appreciated.

You need to use the TaxonomyFieldValueCollection class. The following code is from SP2010 but should still apply in SP2013. It is an example of updating multivalued taxonomy fields.
