Updating Bootcamp 2.2 to 3.0

I am running Windows XP Home under Bootcamp 2.2 and Snow Leopard (updated from Leopard) on my end of 2007 2.2 GHz MBP. I am trying to update to Bootcamp 3.0. My legitimately Snow Leopard upgrade disk when inserted while running windows xp does not auto-run setup.exe. Using Windows Explorer, I am unable to find a folder or directory named bootcamp on the upgrade disks. I understand that running the installer using the repair option allows to do the desired Bootcamp update. I was under the impression, that the Snow Leopard upgrade disk contains the bootcamp drivers. Where is the installer hidden? I searched various forums. Nobody else appears to have this issue. What am I missing? Perhaps I am too stupid to qualify for Bootcamp 3.0 ?
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks.

  • Why can't I update bootcamp software on my Macbook Air 2013?

I'm running windows 8 on my 13" macbook air 2013. Apple sent me a notification of updated bootcamp support software and directions for installation. This web page included a list of the models that are supported by this software and mine is one of them. When I began installing this support software an error message said my computer model isn't supported. I called apple care and they told me it isn't their responsibility to supply windows drivers for people running bootcamp. This sounds fishy and completely wrong. Can someone help, please?

Can you go back and post the web page and actual details (drivers, versions, etc)?
Are you trying to update in Windows and from the Apple Software Update application? manually downloading in Windows? you can use either.
Yes, very fishy. Use to be even worse I think with just how well they are ready to answer and help with Windows on Mac topic.
Use to be the old support pages were to me easy to see and find updates and tech support articles but you can still try there for both your Mac, firmware and model specific, and for Boot Camp.
Also when Mac OS X gets updated, often you download new drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant, too, a 3rd method.
Wasn't clear which method was used.

  • Do I need to update Bootcamp 3.3 after upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion?

Do I need to update Bootcamp 3.3 after upgrading directly from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion? If so, what is the recommended version for my machine?
Other pros and cons we should consider? Not sure what is considered best practice.
We have a mid-2011 iMac (12,1) running Win7 64bit. Concerned about firmware updates not being compatible with Bootcamp 3.3. Firmware updates forThunderbolt port were part of post-Mountain Lion updater install. Not sure what other firmware/boot changes might have been applied to support the new recovery partition, for example. Will the 3.3 windows control panel still work safely?
Win7 still boots OK, at least for now. Backup is current.
I'd like to get the entire machine current again. Bootcamp 5.0 didn't want to download (appeared to hang writing to my external drive, which is otherwise fine). Bootcamp 4.1 refused to install on Win7 (claimed it wasn't for my machine, so I aborted. Downloaded from apple support page directly).
I've searched the forums for this specific question - I see plenty of info for upgrading Bootcamp 4 to 5, but nothing for 3 to 5.
    Thanks much in advance,
    -b

    Appreciate the quick response.
There are basically 2 schools of thought here:
    - If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
    - Don't fall off the upgrade cycle (apply patches whether you have an issue or not in order to ward off trouble before it happens).
I don't have a specific issue that I'm chasing on the Win7 side right now. I'm attempting to address having fallen off the upgrade cycle by staying on Snow Leopard too long.
I appreciate that the Win7 side under bootcamp is its own thing (upgrades to Mac OS don't cross over or effect the bootcamp partition) - except where firmware upgrades coming out of Mountain Lion change the hardware interface to Win7. Hence my questions.

  • Having issues updating Bootcamp drivers from 11.1 to 11.7

having issues updating Bootcamp drivers from 11.1 to 11.7
No matter what driver I have tried thus far
it does not install or update the drivers
Battlefield 3 nags you about having 11.1 and needing to update.
However this game proceeds to load using these drivers (11.1 )
I recently bought NFS THE RUN.
Unlike BF3 the game does not proceed therefore inorder to play this game i would need 11.7 or higher.
can someone please provide the driver that actualy installs and works.
My specs are MBP 15 inch
    1 gig GPU ( AMD Radeon 6750m)
    8 gigs on Ram
    2.2 CPU i7

Take a look around my bookmarks
you are updating AMD, not Boot Camp drivers.
    you need to uninstall first.
probably need to update via Device Manager not via Install from AMD

  • How to update Bootcamp to 1.1

    Hi all,
I just downloaded the updated Bootcamp version 1.1. How do I update the bootcamp software, it seems the new version wont load on top of my old one. I just want to burn the CD, so that the camera and the other hardwares will work in bootcamp.
Is it correct to assume, that as long as I have the new bootcamp program on my mac, when I go to burn the macdrivers CD it will have the new editions on there??

There's an installation and setup guide included with the update.

  • Can I update bootcamp video driver (nvidia geforce 9400M to       GeForce 332.21 Driver)?

Can I update bootcamp video driver (nvidia geforce 9400M to GeForce 332.21 Driver)? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en
If yes, if I installed it will this also affect the video card of osx?
btw, I have macbook late 2008 aluminum unibody running OSX mavericks & a windows 7 ultimate on bootcamp..
    TIA!!!

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use BootCamp. There's a BootCamp Support Community where everybody uses BootCamp. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • How can i update bootcamp to 3.1 before installing windows 7 if 3.1 is required to install windows 7?

Seems like a catch 22---bootcamp 3.1 is required to install windows 7 but you can't update bootcamp 3.0 to 3.1 unless you're on the windows side. What gives here??

Lousy and incompetent tech writers are  to blame.
    3.1 drivers are req'd
Apple pushed their 3.0 drivers out before Windows 7 was nailed in place.
The Lion 4.01 drivers avoid the multiple out of date steps.
Snow Leopard 10.6.0 came out in Aug 2009 and the drivers were buggy.
In fact I don't think SL was ready either but that is another topic and issue.
Wish there was a way, but Boot Camp 3.3 is what I use or there is a link to 4.01 set - Windows has nothing to do with Lion, you don't need Lion other than to download drivers standalone driver took 4 minutes for 600MB, people say it takes HOURS or days to get a set of drivers. 600MB is smaller than the recent iOS 5 update, or the whole iTunes + Lion 10.7.2 along with other updates, but they can't get it to "work?"
    Windows driver package
Download to Windows, you will be current, no more updates needed and works on any Mac running Windows 7

  • Updated bootcamp for Windows 7

Do you think that Apple will soon release an updated Bootcamp for Windows 7 beta? Version 2.1 is working fine with my MBP but it's getting too hot. I think they still have to fine tune it for Windows 7.

Not until W7 ships. But it would still be nice to see a 2.2 or later version of Boot Camp. By the time W7 is out probably be a year from now and need BC 3.0
W7 is easier on batteries so some have switched from Vista to enjoy longer battery life.

I need to use CATIA for University, so i would like to install Windows 7.

You need 3.0 installed, 3.1 etc are updates, and they need something to update.
How do you plan on dealing with Firmware Updates without an OSX partition?

  • Update bootcamp on macbook pro 15 mid 2010

    Hy there,
my friend has a macbook pro 15inch mid 2010 with OS X 10.8.2 and
he wants to install windows 7  from an image.
    There is bootcamp 5.0.0 installed.
Isn´t it possible to create a bootable windows 7 usb stick with bootcamp?
I didn´t found an update to bootcamp 5.0.1. Isn´t there an update for this macbook?
    regards
    Michael

No, there is no update except for what is installed with an OS X update. Open Boot Camp Assistant and click on the large Print Documentation button. Read carefully.

  • How do i update bootcamp drivers

You probably want Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640.

  • Will mountain lion automatically update bootcamp to v4.x

I would like to upgrate to Mountain Lion from Lion.  Bootcamp is v3.1 and Bootcamp Assistant is v4.x.  I am running Windows XP and Quicken as a virtual machine using Parallels 8 and everything works fine.  If Mountain Lion automatically updates the Bootcamp partition to v4.x, I am concerned that I will lose the ability to continue to run XP as a virtual machine.  Thoughts?

Your Bootcamp version, partition and XP install will not change and you will not loose use of your XP install.
Only if you choose to reformat your drive within OSx using Bootcamp version 4 at some point may you loose option to reinstall XP.

  • Bootcamp Question? Should I update bootcamp before installing Vista SP1

    Hi,
I am about to install Vista SP1 on iMac, Leopard 10.5.4.
About a month back, there was a bootcamp update that had been posted on support download website. The question is; Do I need to install the Update before installing Vista or is that needs to be done after the installation of Vista?
    Thanks for the help,

The update is consists only of new device drivers for Windows XP and Vista. There are different updates depending upon whether you install 32-bit XP, 32-bit Vista, or 64-bit Vista. So Windows must be installed first, the original drivers included on the Leopard DVD should be installed, then you can install the update in Windows.
