You can't.
ACR 5.7 only runs in CS4.
The last version to run in CS3 is ACR 4.6.
The latest, current version is ACR 6.1 and that requires CS5.

  • Update CS3 from 10.0 to 10.0.1 fails

    Hi
I've just bought Photoshop CS5 as an upgrade to CS3. After installation, I de-activated and uninstalled CS3 from my desktop Mac and re-installed and activated it on my MacBook. That seemed to work, however the update from 10.0 to 10.0.1 did not, the updater quit "unexpectedly". Was it "unexpectedly", or is this intended behavior ?
    Kind regards - Hening.

…Do I understand your answer the way that I could even install the just purchased CS5 on both machines??
    Absloutely, yes.  Ohne Weiteres.
The license is always for one user, two machines that will not be used simultaneously.

No need whatsoever.  That's why I was asking.

  • Adobe Update CS3 requires Rosetta?

    Hi,
I have a clean install of Snow Leopard on a new drive in my Mac Pro. After installing Adobe CS3 Web Premium I ran the Adobe updater. Towards the end of the install I was prompted to install Rosetta in order to run bspatch which seems to be part of the OS. I elected not to install Rosetta and to continue without this update. Has anyone else noticed this behaviour updating CS3? I'm mystified why a component of the OS should requite Rosetta to update a binary file.

I have CS3 working fine under SL without Rosetta. I think the problem you are having is with the instal software (VISE?) I have noticed this on several programs that work under SL. CERTAIN programs seem to have an older version of VISE. My hat is off to Epson who is using a current version!

  • Updated to latest ACR 6.6 but still can't open CR2 files from Canon Rebel XSi

I updated to latest version of Adobe Camera Raw 6.6 but still can't seem to open my CR2 files in Photoshop. Can't open them in Lightroom either, no preview in Bridge or OS.
    I'm running OS 10.7.2 and Photshop 12.1 x 64 which is CS5.1 I suppose.
I've downloaded Canon's EOS utility hoping that would somehow do something as well but nothing.
The images were shot on Canon Rebel XSi which is certainly supported by the newest version of ACR. So I have no clue as to what's happening... I previously downloaded these images onto my old laptop about a year ago and everything was fine, however now I'm not even getting a preview in OS. Do I have to revert to an older version of ACR (perhaps the same one I used originally?) to open these files again? These files have been stored on a hard drive, so I'm not downloading them directly from the camera-again, this probably has nothing to do with it but not sure what to do. A lot of the posts I've seen recommend downloading the latest version of ACR to fix the issue, but again I've done that and as a matter of fact the camera (Rebel XSi) has been supported for some time now...
In OS, when the image is selected no preview:
    Lightroom error:
    Bridge, no preview:
    Photoshop error:
    Ideas, suggestions?

Something appears to be wrong with your files.
Are most of your images approx. 3.7 MB?
This is very small for a 12 MP image.
If you go back to the original file on your laptop, what is the file size?
Also the fact that the Mac OS is not showing the preview is unusual.
Perhaps these files got corrupted when they were moved to your new computer.
Can you open these files OK on your old laptop?
Is the OS showing the previews on your old laptop?
Also compare the file sizes between old and new computer.
Have you tried repairing your permissions?
Try Disk Utility in your Macs Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility to see if this helps.
    Good Luck!

  • Adobe Open and Type 1 Fonts in XP/SP3 plus updates & CS3

Since applying the latest Microsoft updates to XP/SP3 last week I can now no longer add Open Type 1 or Type 1 fonts to Fonts in Windows, and therefore can't add more fonts for use in Photoshop CS3. I tried a new harddrive, reloaded with XP/SP3 plus updates and the exact same thing occurs. Any of those types of fonts I try to add come up as corrupt/can't load, when in fact they are not corrupt and the exact same font files load with no problem in another XP/SP3 machine that hasn't had the updates applied, and they also load without a hitch in a Vista machine. Anyone else, who has all the updates installed noticing this? Anyone have a solution? I know that this isn't exactly 100% related to Photoshop only, but it does affect the program. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated................frank

This problem is now solved. Microsoft updated the video driver for my video card, and it was obviously the wrong one. It took two days and a lot of work to discover what had caused the problem, but at least the story has happy ending. Now, back to Photoshop! :)

  • Mac OS 10.5.6 Can't update CS3 I created a Specific Volume to Adobe

    Hi, anyone can help me?
I created a specific Volume for Adobe software, and then installed CS3. But, the thing is that when I tried to run the updates, but seems impossible to adobe updater to see that I've installed CS3 on another volume. Can I fix this or I have to uninstall CS3 and then install again on the main volume?
    Thanks

    Ricardo,
Don't create a special folder or volume. Don't move the folders. Don't rename the folders. Let Adobe install install its software at its defaults. If you must have the software in a different location, create and use aliases instead. Or put your Adobe apps in the Dock. That is the probably the most reliable way to install, update and manage Adobe apps.

  • Thumbnails in Bridge CS3 for ACR 4.6 not available

I have a problem, that I can open raw files per double click, but I dont get a preview in Bridge for my Canon EOS 50D.
Also if I use the mouse button open in camera raw is not available. If I use open from the menu, the raw is opened in ACR 4.6 correctly.
Also purging the chache was no success
    ANy tipps?
I reinstalled until now two times without any success

    Hi Jim,
I will check if I have another version in place. Maybe now I get a problem because I use Bridge for viewing the new pictures, classifying by tags. For searches later on I have Photoshop elements because of it´s fast database. For PSE I now need Version 7 with Camera Raw 5.2, for Bridge and CS3 (more complex actions for improving my pictures) I had to install ACR 4.6.
From Bridge I can open the pictures with "open" and 4.6 appears before entering CS3. But in Bridge the option "open with camera raw" is not available.
Hopefully I only have 2 ACR 4.x versions in the CS3 directories. This would be easy to solve. Otherwise it seems to get more and more enerving to find the error.

  • Where do I update CS3 to open images from cd

My friend gave me some images to edit from my daughters wedding on a cd. I have CS3 and the bridge and it will not allow me to open and edit the images. She has a new Canon 5D camera and I don't know if that is reason, but she said I need an update, and I can't seem to find it anywhere. I would appreciate any help you can give. These images are camera raw, and raw files from my Rebel xti open fine. They have the extention CR2 and xmp.

If the camera is a Canon 5D MII then Photoshop CS3 with Camera Raw 4.6 won't open thos images...you choice is to either upgrade to Photoshop CS4 or use the free DNG Converter to convert the 5D MII files from CR2 to DNG. You'll want the most recent version found here on the DNG Product Page.
You'll use the DNG Converter to convert the raw files to DNG....to do so you'll need to copy the images from the CD to your hard drive...follow the DNG Converter instructions and then Camera Raw 4.6 in Photoshop CS3 will be able to open them...

  • Adobe Updates - CS3

    Hi everyone,
Can you set up how to handle Adobe updates in CS3 so that you are informed about the updates but can choose when to install them? I recently downloaded the trial version of CS3 and today it updated a number things automatically. I would rather have the option to update and install on my preference.
    Thanks!

Go to the Help Menu. Select Updates...
When the updater finishes checking for updates, you will have an option to
select Preferences. You can choose to have it behave as you desire.
But you probably needn't worry about any more updates this late in the
product cycle, barring a security disaster or something like that.

  • After last OS Update, CS3 Palettes disappear

After the last OS update that we ran at work all of our palettes disappear when you leave a CS3 program and then come back to it. It seems to mostly happen when you go to a different "space" and then come back. You have to go in and reset all of your palettes. It happened to 5 other people in my office. Any clues to how we can fix this?

This is DEFINITELY a pain, especially if the last tool you were using is the Text tool. In this case, you cannot just hit the Tab button a couple of times to make the palettes visible again.
The Space concept is a very cool one. However, if you have to struggle to get your application tool palettes back every time you change Spaces, it defeats the purpose of quickly moving among application groups in each Space.
Someone PLEASE let us know if there is a way to prevent palettes from hiding when using Spaces.

  • Photoshop CS3 and ACR

I have recently gotten CS3 for Mac. I run the latest mac software, and CS3 was loaded onto my comp last night, and I upgraded it with the patch to 10.0.1? I cannot seem to upgrade my ACR from 4.0 however, and I run a canon 50d - so i'd need at least 4.6
Can someone direct me on what to do?? As I have looked everywhere online and cannot seem to find a solution that works for me

Sorry i didn't see the tag.
Did you double click on the dmg (Camera_Raw_4_6.dmg) to mount the image so you can see the actual camera raw plugin inside the download?
Then you went to ./Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins//CS3/File Formats and removed the old camera raw plugin and put/copied the 4.6 version into that folder.
Make sure you start the path with your ROOT LEVEL Library, right after the name of your hard disk, not your user or home library.

  • Unable to update CS3 after reinstalling

I own CS3 design premium running on OSX 10.6.8 (not lion)
I uninstalled CS3 using the uninstaller.
Reinstalled CS3 fresh from the disks
Adobe Updater doesn't find any updates.
Looked around online checked my versions through the software.
    Indesign 5.0
    Illustrator 13.0
    Photoshop 10.0
and yet I get this message:
    Uninstalled again using uninstaller
    Rebooted
    Ran Creative Suite Cleaner Tool
deleted folder library -> application support -> adobe
    Rebooted
    Installed CS3 fresh from disk
    Rebooted
    Launched Photoshop
    entered serial number
    Ran updater
    Same message as above
I did not disable my registration either time I uninstalled.
I have downloaded the raw update files and they don't work either. I just get the following message.
Any ideas how I can get my software updated?

    Randy,
Yes it has happened with other people, but not very case the behavior due to the same set of issues. CS 3 was designed way before Snow Leopard, but generally we can get it to work.
If you are game, try installing a utiltily called Applejack a great utility to have. Beware it runs on the unix shell before the Mac fully boots.
    http://applejack.sourceforge.net/
Have it clear all your caches, fix your permissions, and verify and fix any directory isssues.
(You can use Onyx instead it will run under standard OS X, but it cannot repair any disk directory corruption).
I wonder if your system is acting flakey due to some underlying directory problems.

  • Adobe Update CS3

    Hi
We're still running Adobe CS3 and whenever we reinstall it for whatever reason we usually download and install the updates again as a single process, via Adobe updater. However right now I've just re-installed CS3 and run Adobe Updater on a laptop and it's saying there are no updates available yet the applications are all on version .0
This has created a problem for us. I tried installing the updates manually after downloading them from the Adobe updates site and but I could only get Photoshop 10.0.1 to and Adobe InDesign Illustrator to install. The Acrobat  8.3.1 patch said it was for the wrong version, and I had a similar report about the Illustrator patch.
I would like to have all the patches downloaded and saved on our server so that after an re-installation of Adobe CS3 I can just I can just run those.´Not sure how to solve the problem with Illustrator and Acrobat. Which patches do I need for the English .0 versions?
    Cheers
    Jason

    >any idea why the Adobe Updater isn't working?
My best GUESS is a permissions problem... the user does not have download permission and/or the firewall settings do not allow downloads and/or antivirus settings do not allow download
So... download all updates for all CS3 products and write everything to a CD to then use as needed
I do not do "enterprise installs" but you might Google and read up on "slip streaming" to create a custom install that includes all updates
Also, in case you need to restore everything to a specific computer in case of something like a hard drive crash, use an imaging program to make an external image of a working drive, by computer name, to something like a USB hard drive
Hardware crashes or virus infections or simple software problems happen, so you should buy AND USE software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)
The product I use is at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm
Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

My Adobe Updater (version CS3) will not connect to the Internet.
I want to make sure I have the latest software, so is anyone able to help?

Same thing happens to me. Periodically Adobe Updater runs, and just sits there forever, spinning in a dialog that says "No Internet connection. Please check your Internet settings and/or firewall. Waiting for connection..."
My Internet connection is fine. I'm running 10.9.3.
BTW, I let my CS3 subscription lapse.
