Updating desktop iWork - not free ????

I have iWork already on the desktop. Seems like I have to pay once again to update the desktop suite / iWork. Can that be true ?

I purchase my iPhone 5 last Seprember 7. I've read that iWork will be free for all iOS device purchase after September 1st. But why is it not downloaded in my iPhone when I updated to iOS 7? When I check in the apple store it is sti $9.99. Have I misread something?

No, JLupina, you did not read incorrectly.
iWork is free when you purchase a new ios device beginning Sept 20.
Downloading the new OS is not a purchase, and certainly not a purchase of a new device.

Updating an iBook (not free) made with iBook Author possible?

Hi,
I pubished a picturebook using iBook Author the beginning of this year. It was quite slow as it had many images and audio files in it.
Last week I opened it and saved it with the updated iBook Author and it seems to be running much better now on the iPad.
My question is, can I update the book, even if it is not free? Do I need a new ISBN nummber if I am not changing the content?
Do the people who bougt my book also get an update? How does this work?

Each device needs to download the update. It wise to delete the old version- which is not needed as the book is not via the store...it's not seen as an update..just another book.
Do you use Dropbox or dimilar? If not maybe you should, it's free and the app can go on all your staff iPads and download from a supplied link.
i Send photo books to family "across the water" and while Apples Safari option seems fine, it can be iffy on some machines...so I stick to the old and easy method.

Iworks not free on ipad

I recently updated my iPad to iOS7, and I am trying to install iWorks on it for my students to use. I was under the impression that iWorks (I really just need Pages) was free for devices using iOS7. However, when I go to the App Store, it is still showing $9.99. Anybody know what's going on with this?

Try restarting your iPad. That often gets the device correctly registered and will allow the iWork apps to then be downloaded for free.

The advertisements leading up to the release of iOS 7 let me to believe that I work would be free for everybody. Apparently that is not the case. I was a little disappointed to find out but now it is only free for new devices activated after September 1 however upon looking at the reviews and how horrible they are I'm not disappointed at all in fact you couldn't pay me to use iWork so thanks but no thanks Apple once again.

An automatic software update on iWork went in on Friday. Now I can't open any of the programs; they all crash. My local Apple Store Genius said send the program to the trash bin, empty it and do a reinstall. This has not worked either.

On Friday my iMac downloaded and installed an automatic update for iWorks, since which none of the 3 programs in the suite have worked. Numbers crashes immediately. Pages puts up the opening screen but won't open any files old or new. I don't use Keynote so I can't say whether that was affected or not.
I asked advice at my local Apple Shop and was told to trash iWorks, empty the trash, then do a re-install from my original disk. After the 2nd attempt, this gave me a message that it had been successfully installed. Now all 3 programs crash on opening. I have only had the iMac since November 2010 and am still a novice user, although I have nearly 20 years' experience of Windows OS from 3.1 to Win7.

Thanks, Eric. I'm not sure what I should be checking using your suggestion--as I said, I'm an utter novice with the iMac. However, I saw a reference to problems with the Library entries, so I checked mine and the iWork files were missing, something confirmed when I checked the crash log. In desperation, I did another software update, and that seems to have fixed the problem completely. Now wondering if I dare upgrade to Lion!

Try resetting your SMC and NVRAM before attempting to install again.

Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…

Turn on the computer by pressing the Power Button.
On the built-in keyboard, press and hold the Command (⌘), Option (⌥), P, and R keys before the gray screen appears.
Continue to hold down the keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup chime for the second time.

IWork not updated!!!

Along with the rest of the nerds I watched the Keynote for the newest releases and updates for Apple. I was extreamly excited about the new iWork (Pages, Keynote, and Numbers) updates. However, I purchased my copy of iWork when I bought my MacBook Pro. I have not gotten an update for any of them yet and my App Store has already updated iMovie and iPhoto. Why has my iWork not updated yet?

I do not understand.
I bought a new imac last week and I thought that came with iWork for free.
But when I launch Pages, Numbers or Keynote, I get a window that asks me to buy a license number or try the software for 30 days.

Oh the real problem is something else!
You have Pages 5 in your Applications folder.
You have Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder.
When you try to open a Pages 5 file with Pages '09 it tells you you need to upgrade, because Pages '09 can not open Pages 5 files.
Just open the right files with the right version.

IWork still not free for me.

Hello i've read other discussion mentioning how they got the apps for free. I followed their directions and it seems that mine under the free apps still says that it is 19.99. Is there anything else i can do? I've done a software update and I do have iWork on my phone and iPad but i would like it on my laptop. Please help. Thank you.

Today, I went to the mac store and asked the staff about above issue. Apple obviously sent me a mac air which was manufactured before October 2013 and therefore, iworks and OX Mavericks weren't installed. I have refund for around £45 to purchase iworks. However, I wasn't happy with what Apple actually did. I asked for replacement and refund the one I got and getting the new one from store so I can use mac straight away. however, the refund takes 5-7 working days. The staff on the phone told me if I have enough money I can just buy the new one in the store and get refund later. So I gave up! I was so disappointed with Apple. Even though I use the mac now, this was not the one Apple promised when I purchased online. if anyone would like to buy a mac, Please go to the actual store. DO NOT buy a mac through MAC ONLINE STORE!!! I strongly recommend! I feel like I wasted my time because the company doesn't keep its promise.
