Updating employee in asset master

Hi
There are several laptops and mobile phones which are given to employees. I need to track employee-wise assets. So i need to update employee name in asset master
But here there is no HR module so personnel numbers are not available. Employees are created as a vendors only.
I thought of evaluation group. But updating evaluation groups everytime at the time of addition / exit of new employees would be a configuration.
So let me know how this requirement can be fulfilled.

I have seen many companies in this scenario...What they do is even though they dont have HR Module, they still create Personnel No.s in HR.... You dont need any separate license for that... Just a bare minimum settings are required to create Personnel No.s
Asset Master has field Personnel No available in the screen layout... So, you dont need to do any Z development in this option
Option 2 - Use AIST002 and add the field Vendor No in the asset master as said above...
Option 3 - Use a Stat IO or WBS created with Personnel No as the IO / WBS No...
Easiest is option 3, but it is a work around
Moderate is option 1 - This is Std solution... You can also Personnel No in lot of FI postings related to employees.. Eg: To track their vehicle expenses or Mobile expenses, etc...
Complex one is option 2.... This is a Z Dev....

When we are creating the Purchase order With reference to the Asset, my client wants to Update the PO date automatically in asset master
I have maintained the PO date as an optional field in asset master and created PR and Po with reference to the PR but in asset master data PO date not updating automatically.

As far as I know, this is not updated automatically.. Asset Master is created earlier than PO... The PO date does not update automatically in asset master
The capitalization date in asset master will be the date on which you do the GR....hence, PO date cant be the capitalization date...
If you want to update the PO date in asset master for information sake, create a Z program which calls As02 in the background and updates the info on daily basis at day end

Asset Master Data not updated

Quantity purchased via PO is not updating the master data of the newly created fixed assets.
When created and inserted into any number, the amount is updated with the purchase.
What do you make the purchase of newly created assets are properly updated in the asset master data?

Lsmw for updating values in asset mater ( AS92 TCODE)

Standard report is not there to update the Asset master.
Use BAPI to update the Asset master in LSMW:
Business object - BUS1022
Method: Change
Message type: FIXEDASSET_CHANGE

Equipment master record updation in Asset master record

Dear Friends,
I have a query with regard to Equipment master record updation in asset master record. Here we have created equipment in Plant maintenance module and we have created asset in AS01 tcode. When we give the asset number to PM module guys, they can easily update the asset number in their equipment master by changing the equipment master record.
But when we enter the same in asset master record in 3rd tab allocations tab, initially it is accepting the equipment details like equipment number, category, object and tech description, but the same is not available after saving.
Please let me know whether I have to do any customization in asset settings inorder to get the equipment number populated in asset master record.

Trouble with updates of Asset Master Record via BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CHANGE

I'm using functional module BAPI_FIXEDASSET_CHANGE in order to update time dependent data in Assets Master Record. Although I'm updating only time dependent data and net worth valuation, some other fields are being changed too - country dependent fields for example. Could you be of any assistance to me and tell me if there's a customization for updating of these data, because I think there is one.

yes, the main functionality within the BAPI is done in function ASSET_MASTERRECORD_MAINTENANCE. If it really does not happen in AS02 but only with the BAPI I think you could open a service ticket to SAP.

The client has a requirement to update the serial# on an asset master record when the user process goods receipt through MIGO. I've looked at the functional side to find a solution for this but I have not found any. Is there a BADI or another functionality that we can use to update the serial# on an asset master record upon GR?

"Update Delayed" while saving an Asset Master

Hi,
When I am changing an Asset master(AS02) it doesn't change and I get a message on status bar "Update Delayed". I debugged the standard program and everything goes fine but when it encounters "Commit work" statement it gets hanged and gives message "Update Delayed".
Any pointer is appreciated.

Update delays sometimes mean that there is a queue waiting at the UPD task. Go to SM51 and check to make sure that there are no other tasks waiting to be processed. Check with you Basis group - they might be able to run some diagnostics on the update task.

BAPI for updating Evaluation Group1 field in Asset Master

The business requirement is to Update the Assets master fields with the current location of the Tools with respect to movement of the material only to be used for assets.
To keep a track for tools being moved to vendor location or internal company. To know the exact liabilities to the company in terms of Capitals being moved to the vendor or company location.
For this the movement type of the material will define weather the material is within the Campus or is with the Vendor & update the field Evaluation Group 1 (ANLA-ORD41)
Can you please help with which BAPI should be used for updating the evaluation group?

Quantity not updated in Asset master after Good Receipts

Hi,
Can someone tell me is it SAP bug after Good Receipts done, base on the following scenarios, if PO specify with Quantity 1 and unit of measurement PC:
1) Asset created without specifiying the quantity and unit of measurement
2) Asset created with specifiying the quantity and unit of measurement, ie Quantity : 1, Unit of measurement: PC
3) Asset created with specifiying the quantity and wrong unit of measurement, ie Quantity : 1, Unit of measurement: Unit
The result:
Item1: No quantity and unit of measurement in Asset Master was updated.
Item2: Quantity was added by 1, ie total is 2 in Asset Master
Item3: No changed in Asset Master, since wrong unit of measurement.
Is it bug for the item1 & Item2?

a) The procedure is as follows:
1. Create Depreciation area via OADB.
2. Activate Depreciation area via OAYZ.
3. Automatic opening of new depreciation are via AFBN and program
   RAFABNEW :
3.1     Indicator: Leave values initial = not ticked.
           Do not set this indicator if you want the system
           to copy the values from depreciation area 01.
3.2     Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.
           Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created
           depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.
4. Recalculate depreciation via AFAR and program RAAFAR00.
b) Helpful notes:
430618 (Procedure for setting up new depreciation area)
301113 (Restrictions of RAFABNEW)
421549 (RAFABNEW: Error with closed fiscal years)
c) A documenttation you find if you enter RAFABNEW in SE38 and press the butto "documentation"

Asset master update while doing GR.

currently we have one requirement that when we purchase a material then assign to an asset. then during GR in MIGO, we want the serial no ( manually entered) to be copied in that asset master - serial no. field...
is there a way of solving this ??

Hi,
The transaction for master data subsitution in AA is OACS.
However, this subsitution will be activated only on certain activities such as creating an asset or changes to master data. In your case, it is not the situation.
You could find more info in the following link:

You could still try it, but I'm afraid you will have to look for a solution with your ABAP-team to see whether they could use a user-exit or write a special development for that.

Quantity field updated in asset master

We are facing one problem when we are settling the WBS elements to AuC the settlement process is running fine but the original quantity mentioned in the asset master gets change after the settlement. to some X figure.
kindly help me to solve the problem, as it is not possible to go and edit the manually 100's of Asset master.

Asset master data synchronization with HR Master data

Dear Experts:
I am FI consultant and i am doing Research on Synchronization of asset master data with HR master data. Our management wants that if company gives any thing which is regarded as an asset e.g Laptop, expensive tools e.t.c to its employee then beside opening its asset master data in FI it should also be updated in HR Employee master data. For this from FI side there are 3 asset classes for which we want that if any asset is opened in these classes then the data should be updated in HR. I have turned on Personnel number in screen layouts and have fetched this field in asset reports. We want
1...Asset Description
2...Cost Center
to be updated in HR master data. Now my question is that how this can be achieved. Is it possible? What configuration will need to be done for it.

FOr assets created in FI and reflect them in HR use the feature ANLAC and it will take care.
This feature determines whether or not the system checks the fields Asset number in infotype 0040 (Internal Control) and Loan object number in infotype 0040 (Objects on Loan) against database ANLA.
