Updating exchange 2010 accounts after provisioning

Hi Guys,
I am looking for the information on modifying exchange 2010 accounts information once we provisioined an exchange 2010 account.
For example, renaming the mailbox in exchange2010 when there is a change in the lastname like that. All of the "UPDATED" tasks
were given as "Required for completion". So, did not understand how the "UPDATED" tasks will work.
Will exchange 2010 support email attribute as multi-valued?
And how the move mailbox will work? Please provide some information.
Thanks for your help.

In exchange connector, all of the UPDATED tasks were given as required for completion. I believe required for completion will needed only for create user task not for all of the updated tasks. It depends on the requirement. Generally we make these task as Required for Completion only.
If I want to update exchange 2010 mailbox, I just need to update mail atribute in AD. Is that correct?Right now, I am not sure which attribute we have to modify for renaming mailbox and whether it is supported with OOTB connector or not.
If not then you need to extend the connector functionality but I have seen couple of threads on Google which talks about Renaming Mailbox in Exchange.
And
So, did not understand how the "UPDATED" tasks will work.SO I have given you link that how OIM triggers UPDATED task in any Process Defn.
Required for Completion means: Whether task should be completed for completing the process/operation or not. It is nothing to do with UPDATED Task trigger.

We uninstalled all four rollup updates in hopes that everything would go back to normal but it hasnt. We still have the same issues.

    Hi,
Based on the description, you got the error below when you tried to accessed OWA after rollup update installation.
"An unexpected error occurred and your request couldn't be handled, and Your network connection is unavailable. Please reconnect and try again."
For this issue, I recommend you check the OWA virtual directory to see if "Redirect requests to this destination" is checked. If it is checked, please uncheck the option. Then please restart IIS service to check the result.
Open IIS Manager -> owa -> HTTP Redirect -> uncheck "Redirect requests to this destination:"

  • Outlook multi-day (not 'all day') meeting requests showing up as 1 day off on iphone attached Activesync Exchange 2010 accounts

    Exchange 2010 SP2 Server
iPhone iOS 5.01 (4/4s) using ActiveSync
    Outlook 2007 clients
When multi-day (not 'all day') meeting requests or appointments are being sent to email accounts which have an iPhone attached to the Exchange account via ActiveSync, the iPhone accepts the meeting request but then moves the event one day later than what it was originally scheduled and posts it to Outlook - also 1 day later than it is supposed to be.
For example:  A meeting request comes into my that is schedule for 9AM-4PM M-W but when I accept it on my iphone it gets posted to my calendar as an ALL DAY event but T-Thu
We upgraded to Exchange SP2 because some of the threads were alluding that SP2 would fix it - it didn't.  I know the fix is to rip out the event to separate calendar events but this will not work for reqeusts coming from outside.  And this is too tedious.  If anything, it is a serious bug.
    Anybody seen this before?
    Thanks,
    Monty.

I am experiencing a similar problem with a client of mine who is using Microsoft's Cloud-based Exchange server, Office 365.  I suspect the Office 365 server is an Exchange 2010 server, similar to your environment.  Check out my tests below which I think define when the day shifting happens.
I see that you applied SP2 to your Exchange 2010 environment, but have you also applied Update Rollup 1?  See this article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324.  It would be interesting to know whether that rollup resolves your problem.
I have done some pretty extensive testing and have posted in the Office 365 Support Forum (http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/146/p/53396/192332.aspx#192332)  Here is a summary of my testing.
I am having the exact same problem described by Jim Edmonds and jkwmail (http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/176/p/19921/93304.aspx#93304) with one of my clients who is not very happy about this or our inability to resolve the problem.  Here is what I am experiencing:
When an appointment in Office 365 spans multiple days, the appointment gets converted to an All Day Event and moved forward one day on an iPhone ActiveSync client.
I have completed the following troubleshooting:
1 - Using my GMail Account and my work email account on MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 Server I created separate single day appointments in the morning from each account spanning two hours and invited my client who is using MS Outlook 2010 and Office 365.
Result:  The appointments show the correct date and time on my Outlook, MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 OWA, and iPhone as well as my client's Outlook, Office 365 webmail, and iPhone.
2 - Using my GMail Account and my work email account on MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 Server I created separate single day appointments in the afternoon from each account spanning two hours and invited my client who is using MS Outlook 2010 and Office 365.
Result:  The appointments show the correct date and time on my Outlook, MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 OWA, and iPhone as well as my client's Outlook, Office 365 webmail, and iPhone.
3 - Using my GMail Account and my work email account on MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 Server I created separate multi-day appointments from Friday at 5 PM to Monday at 8 AM from each account and invited my client who is using MS Outlook 2010 and Office 365.
Result:  The appointments show the correct date and time on my Outlook, MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 OWA, and iPhone as well as my client's Outlook and Office 365 webmail.  However, on my client's iPhone, the time on the appointments had changed to an all day event and the start date was shifted one day forward, Saturday, and the end date was Monday unless the appointment end time was after the appointment start time in which case it created an All Day Event on Tuesday as well.  For Example:  If the appointment was from 8 AM Friday Morning to 8 AM Monday Morning, the iPhone would show an All Day Event on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  If the appointment was from 8 AM Friday Morning to 8:30 AM Monday Morning, the iPhone would show an All Day Event on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.  If the appointment was from 8 AM Friday Morning to 7:30 AM Monday Morning, the iPhone would show an All Day Event on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  This was also true for appointments starting on Friday at 5 PM and ending on Monday at 5 PM, starting on Friday at 5 PM and ending on Monday at 5:30 PM, and starting on Friday at 5 PM and ending on Monday at 4:30 PM as in the above AM examples.
*** Again I would like to note that on my iPhone which is connected to my company's MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 server, the multi-day appointment shows up correctly with correct start and end times and is not converted to an All Day Event. ***
It would seem this is a problem with ActiveSync on Office 365 and iOS devices.  What is particularly frustrating is that this exact problem is identified in KB 2563324 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324) Issue 1.6 - "An appointment is longer than 24 hours is changed to a multi-day All Day Event" which states:  "To resolve this issue, install Update Rollup 1 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2 (SP2)."  Since this is a cloud based service, we do not have the ability to either see what the current version of the Exchange service we are connected to is or update the service with this patch level.
4 - I performed the above three tests with my client creating the events in MS Outlook 2010 and inviting my work account on the MS Exchange 2007 SP 2 Server and got the exact same results.
5 - My client's iPhone is running iOS 4.3 and my iPhone is running iOS 5.1.0.  In order to test this without going through the update process on my client's iPhone, I set up his Office 365 account on my iPhone and performed the tests in numbers 1-4 from above, viewing the results on my iPhone, and got the exact same results.
6 - Today, I tried this with a different Office 365 account, performed the multi-day test in number 3 from above and got the exact same results.
7 - Today I also upgraded my iPhone to iOS 5.1.1, performed the multi-day test in number 3 from above and got the exact same results.
8 - I have confirmed that all time zones are set correctly.  I have checked the iPhone, OWA, Office 365 Webmail, etc.
I believe the problem in my case is with the Office 365 environment and not the iOS device.  However, trying to get support from these large companies seems to be very difficult?
Does anyone from Apple know if this is an iOS bug or a problem with Exchange 2010/Office 365?
    Thanks...

  • Update Exchange 2010 from 14.1.218.15 to SP2

    HI All,
We are using Exchange server 2010, it is recently deployed in the production environment, I want to know what is the process to apply patches and SP update on exchange server.
As we are running exchange 2010 SP1 14.1.218.15 and should I apply SP 2 diretly on it or I have to apply from
Update Rollup 1 to Update Rollup 7-v3 for Exchange Server 2010 SP1
    first and then apply SP2,
    Your suggestions are required.
    Regards
    Sameer

As lynn said you don't need to apply RU's as you can directly install the latest service pack.
Please note that Support for SP1 & SP2 (Exchange 2010) is ended and hence i recommend you to upgrade to SP3.
You should upgrade your Exchange 2010 server roles in the following order:
    Client Access
    Hub Transport
    Unified Messaging
    Mailbox
    Edge Transport
Also, while patching CAS Servers, Internet Facing CAS Servers should have to be patched first. In case if you have CAS Servers in CAS Array then you will have to remove the CAS Server from the array while patching and should add CAS Server back to CAS Array
    after patching/reboot.
For more information about patching/upgrading exchange you can refer: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/bb629560(v=exchg.141).aspx

  • Need to update Exchange 2010 to SP1 from base

I need to update my base install of Exchange 2010 to SP1 and eventually SP2. This sits on a 2008 R2 server. in reading other upgrade articles, there are references to needing hotfixes at the server level - 2008 R2. There are about 5 hot fixes referenced
to upgrade to SP1 and I would assume there are a few others for the update to SP2.
Currently the 2008 R2 server is patched via Windows update through February 2014 (including SP1 for the server). Given that, can I assume that the hot fix updates have been incorporated into other updates/patches along the way for the Windows 2008 R2
server? Or do i still have to install each of those hotfixes manually?
Also, in one of the patches, it spoke of needing, or using .net framework 2.0 and 3.51. currently my system has 4.5.1 on it. do i need 2.0 and 3.51 for SP1 to be installed and work correctly?
    thanks
    dave

    Hi Dave,
I recommend you install Exchange 2010 SP3 directly. There is no need to upgrade to Exchange 2010 SP1 and then to SP2.
Service Packs are cumulative, Exchange 2010 SP3 include all fixes included in previous RUs and service packs. Here is a blog for your reference.
    Released: Exchange Server 2010 SP3
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/02/12/released-exchange-server-2010-sp3.aspx
Since Windows updated through February 2014, you don't need to install each of those hotfixes manually.
Besides, I would like to verify if you download .net framework 4.5.1 from website. There is no need to install it that way. You just need to open Server Manager, add .Net Framework 3.5.1 feature.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.

  • Updating Exchange 2010 to SP3

    Hi,
I'm going to install Sp3 on my Exchange 2010 server today. I've already done the install on my test system and it went fine.
I have a question though. I am running a DAG. The docs I find online all say to move the databases to another node when running the update. Is this solely to keep users up and running or is it necessary to to in order for the upgrade to run properly.
I ran the upgrade on TEST without moving databases around and it seems to have worked fine (only a few users on my TEST system though).
    Thanks,
    Nacht

If you are running a DAG, your databases would automatically fail over when the system is rebooted. However, if you don't want any surprises, it's common practice to move everything over prior to the patching, then move back afterward. Here's a typical patching
    process:
Mailbox Server patching procedures (patch DR Servers first, then Mailbox Servers last):
Install update on DR servers and reboot
On the A node in the primary site, open EMS and run this command to check the status of indexes:
    Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus | Fl name, contentindexstate
It should look like this for all databases:
    Name
    : DB01\ServerA
    ContentIndexState : Healthy
If the content index state is not healthy, run this command for each database that isn't healthy:
    Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy "DB01\ServerA" -CatalogOnly
Repeat this check on the B node for the primary site, and if all is healthy, proceed to next step
On the A node in the primary site, open EMS and move active mailbox databases to the B node:
    Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase -Server ServerA -ActivateOnServer ServerB -MountDialOverride:none -confirm:$false
Refresh EMC and select each DB moved, then check copy status, copy queue length and replay queue length (everything should be healthy or mounted and all queues should be at
    zero)
Once databases are verified running on the B node, install patch/update on A node and reboot
Check event logs and services on the A node once it's back online
On the B node, open EMS and move all databases from B to A
Open or Refresh EMC and select each DB moved, then check copy status and queues
Once databases are verified running on the A node, install patch/update on the B node and reboot
Check event logs and services on the B node once it's back online
On the A node, open EMS and browse to
D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Scripts> and run this script to automatically put all databases on A node that have an activation preference of 1 on that server and leave all databases
on the B node that have an activation preference of 1 for that node
    .\RedistributeActiveDatabases.ps1 -DagName DAG1 -BalanceDbsByActivationPreference -confirm:$false
    Check Failover Cluster Manager:
On one of the mailbox servers, go to Start > Failover Cluster Manager, expand the DAG, then click on DAG1.contoso.local
Current Host Server (which server holds the Primary Active Manager role) should be either the A or B node. If it is the DR node, run the following command from an elevated command prompt:
cluster.exe DAG1.contoso.local group “Cluster Group” /moveto:ServerA (or ServerB)

  • Update Exchange 2010 - Things to Consider?

I also like to run BPA and check the event logs and system resources before installing any Exchange updates. If the VM has been up for a while, give it a reboot first. I usually check the release notes too: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3049853

We haven't updated our exchange 2010 server in a long time.
In the Update queue is 'Update Rollup 10 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3'
Anything to consider or watch out for before pulling the trigger?
It's running on Server 2012 standard as a VM.
    Thanks for all input!

  • Exchange 2010 recovery after a failed service pack install

    Hi all,
I have a question on Exchange 2010 SP3 installation and hope someone can help.
If the installation for some reason failed, Microsoft's article said one can use "setup /m:recoverserver" to recover Exchange. My question is if Exchange 2010 is to be recovered on the SAME server, do I still need to reset the computer account
    in AD first?
    Thanks in advance.

If you do not recover the OS on the system, you needn't reset the computer account.  I'll caution you, though, that if you intend to re-install Exchange onto the same server without reloading the OS, you are running the risk of having the same problem
happen again.  For safety's sake, recover the OS and reset the computer account.
When we upgraded one of our servers to SP2, we had a failure in the install, and Exchange was effectively wiped from the system.  We had to do just what you are asking about - and we reloaded the servers, from the ground up.  It's been working
fine since then, including when we just upgraded from SP2 to SP3 (UR5, in case anyone wants to know).

  • Updating Exchange 2010 SP2 to SP3UR9

    Dear Experts,
I am currently preparing my SBS 2011 for a migration to Server 2012 R2 with Exchange 2013 installed. On my SBS 2011 I ran the Best Practices Analyzer 1.3 and it mentions that "the most recent Update Rollup is not installed". In the Exchange
Management Console I see that I have Version 14.2 (Build 247.5) installed.
I have seen that there is an Exchange SP3 along with Update Rollup 9 available. I have installed all Windows Updates - no Exchange rollups were installed. Should I update to 2010SP3UR9? How do I best perform this update - install 2010SP2RU8, then 2010SP3
    and finally 2010SP3UR9?
    Thanks for your help.

You have to upgrade to 2010 SP3 first, then upgrade to the latest RU after that.
I would also ask in the SBS forums as sometimes there are special considerations around upgrades.

  • IPhone with Exchange 2010 account. Add "unread mail" folder?

    Hi,
Is there any way to make search folders appear (like unread mail) in the Mail app in iOS using our corporate exchange account?
If not are there any alternatives?
    Thank you,

Unread is a smart folder so no. But you can create a rule to move all new emails to your own "unread folder" you have to create. Just create a rule where you are in the To or CC of any email. Then either send a copy to that folder or all mail to the folder. This will give you an easy way to find the email, but creates duplicates in your Outlook Unread folder. Kind of a pain but gets the emails on your phone into the same area. Hope this helps.

  • Unable to update my Adobe account after inputting a personal URL.

I've tried contacting customer support through chat and they were no help whatsoever. I'm at the stage where I input my date of birth and choosing a personal URL for Adobe Photoshop Elements 9. I DO NOT use symbols. I have tried simple words and names and sometimes include numbers. I've checked both boxes referring to updates and agreeing to the Terms of Use. I click on Update Account and I get this message:
"And error has occurred, and your changes were not saved."
I have registered the program on the website. My account is identified and recognized. Why can't I get passed Update Account? Why must I have a personal URL if it's the only thing stopping my progress?

I had the same experience last night - recently got an Epson scanner with Adobe Elements 9 included, and tried to sign up for tips and tutorials through the link at the bottom of the Elements window. Had the same frustrating problem and error message, & also spent at least 30 - 45 minutes with customer support on chat and got no help at all in resolving this. Why doesn't online customer support realize this feature is not longer active and advise as much right at the start?? Now when I work in Elements I occasionally get a pop-up window asking me to sign in for free Elements benefits, which leads back to the same non-functioning sign-in process. How can I keep this window from popping up?

  • Change to Exchange 2010 after SP3, Update 5 installed

After updating Exchange 2010 from SP3 Update 2 to Update 5, a change has occurred for users with SendAs and Full Access to other mailboxes. Version 14.3 (build 123.4).
Before the Update, after giving a user these permissions to another user's mailbox, the mailbox would show in their Outlook 2010 client, and everything worked as expected.
After Update 5 was installed, when users select the other user's mailbox, they get a message "the folders are not available," or the connection to the Exchange server is not working." They can access their own mailbox with no issues.
The other mailbox has to be added to the Outlook client via Account Settings, Account Settings, Change, More Settings, Advanced tab, Add the other mailbox. The mailbox then shows up twice on the client, but only the one that has been added works,
the original still gives the same error.

    Hi,
I have seen some people have the same issue with you. After upgrading to Rollup 5, they need to add others' mailboxes that they have full access permission and send as permission manually on Outlook. But when they upgrade Outlook to 2010 SP2, this issue
is solved. I recommend you upgrade your Outlook to 2010 SP2 and check the result.
Besides, I'm not sure what changes after Rollup 5 lead to this issue, there is no official article explain it, thanks for your understanding.
    Hope it helps.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup Update 6

Our Exchange environment is currently on Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3 and the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange server version is 11.0.713.0 (Rollup 3).
We planning to upgrade Exchange servers and install Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6, question which I have is it Mandatory to upgrade the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange server version is 11.0.727.0 (Rollup 4) before we install Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6 on the
    Exchange servers.
    Thanks,
    AJ

Thanks Adam for the prompt response and yes I recall these cmdlets to disable and there is a similar cmdlet to enable it. Also after Exchange 2010 SP2 after some RU there is no need to disable FPE before installing RU however it is recommended to disable
    it.
If you refer the comments section mentioned in the blog below it talks about it:-
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/05/27/released-update-rollup-6-for-exchange-2010-service-pack-3.aspx
If you read the comment posted by James Knoch posted on this blog which is as below,
SP3 & the Rollup Updates are not supposed to require you to disable Forefront anymore, but it doesn't hurt to be safe and disable/enable it anyways. Make sure you are running Forefront Rollup 4 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2619883)
& the latest security update (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=41836).
Above stated confused me a bit, is it mandatory to upgrade Forefront or it is NOT.
    Thanks,
    AJ
