Updating fireworks impossible !

Adobe application manager prevents me from reaching the server. Says must be a problem with the internet connection or the firewall settings.
Actually, both don't fit.
I've fireworks on a laptop and never encountered such problems, even from the same connection point at home.....
Thanks for help !

  • How do I update Fireworks?

Just began reading the OnDemand book re DW. I have CS 5.5 Mac. Totally a beginner with it, so this is basic.
It appeared in random reading that Fireworks has a function in DW that a similar utility app has in GL: that is, converting images to web-ready formatting.
Whether that is correct or not, I wanted to see Fireworks but the Extension Manager told me I needed version 8. I then ran the updater but that has not yet solved the problem. There are a few Fireworks files but none open.
How do I update Fireworks to version 8?
    Thank you.

You have got the latest version of Fireworks assuming you have CS 5.5 Master.
Please repost your question on one of the forums from here:
    <http://forums.adobe.com/community/fireworks>
I would post the question on Fireworks forum because to optimize the pictures for WEB, you don't need any extensions.
    Good luck.

Just to add to BDAqua's excellent advice:
There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac, or even re-installing them, will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first to an external hard disk. Ideally you should always have a bootable clone of your system that enables you to revert to the previous pre-update state.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
The 10.4.11 Combo Updater for PPC Macs is here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_4_11_Combo_Update__PPC
And for Intel Macs: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eintel.html
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Full details about the 10.4.11 update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
More information on using Software Updater here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta. If Safari 3.1.2 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
Moreover, trying to revert to Safari 3.0.4 (or worse still, version 2) when running 10.4.11 or 10.5 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.1.1 uses a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail and Dashboard Widgets etc also rely, and may entail you having to reinstall an earlier operating system.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Two such add-on that have been frequently mentioned here for causing such problems are Piclens and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them.
Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

  • How to...update fireworks list to dynamic list

    Hello everyone!
I've created a dropdown list in fireworks with static
information, but what I would like it to display is data from my
mysql database. In other words make the dropdown dynamic. I've
searched, but haven't been succesful in finding information on how
to manipulate the java code fireworks created for the dropdown
    list....
This is the PHP code I'd like to implement in/with the java
code created by fireworks or vise versa
    <?php
$what= mysql_query("SELECT this FROM them WHERE
    this='$that'")or die(mysql_error());
    echo "<select them='foo'>";
    while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($what)){

  • I'm having trouble updating Fireworks CS6

Can't seem to get latest update in the cloud to take. It downloads then fails the install.

    Hey George,
As Extension Manager is a shared component you may not find a seperate uninstaller in the control panel.
You have to either uninstall any single product like Photoshop or fireworks or uninstall the complete suites.
Re-install shall fix the corrupt file.
Having said that you may also try the below suggestion which will not require you to uninstall and re-install any product.
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Extension Manager CS6\Adobe Extension Manager CS6.exe"
Rename the existing version "Adobe Extension Manager CS6, e.g. to AEMCS6-old.exe
Open the media, Download install files:
    Navigate to Adobe CS6\payloads\AdobeExtensionManager6.0All\Assets1_1.zip
Sort by name, and pick file 1 (full name _1_22e262c67d75893f0c113606faee3e48)
Extract it to Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Extension Manager CS6
Rename it to Adobe Extension Manager CS6.exe
    Hope this helps.

  • Updating Fireworks Drop Menu on Multiple DW pages cs5

    Hi,
I have created a webpage that in the end has about 50 different pages and im at page 25 and realized that i didn't write the .html extension on one of my links in the fireworks drop down menu that I imported to my original webpage template.
Instead of switching out the drop down menu individually on 25 pages is there anyway to update the link on all of them at once?
    HELP!!!
    thanks

Change the link in the Deamweaver template. That should update the pages sitewide.

  • When installing Adobe updates Fireworks will not completely install.

I get this message: Fireworks CS5 11.0.2 Update There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later. Error Code: U43M1D207, MACbook Pro OS X 10.10. Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions?

    Hi rivera2u & TRU Software,
I believe you are just double clicking on the Exception Deployer and not running the same from the command prompt . Mentioned below is the syntax that we need to use while using Exception Deployer on your machine(s).
    ExceptionDeployer
        --workflow=install
        --mode=pre|post
        --INSTALLDIR=<path_of_installation directory>
        --installLanguage=<locale_code for Acrobat>
        --abortOnFail
        --help
The same is mentioned in the link shared by Abhijit earlier.
Please do let us know if this works for you or not.
    Cheers,

  • Updating fireworks dropdowns menus in DW templates

    hi again,
much like my last query really. i often use dreamweaver
templates with fireworks menus, i was wondering if there is a way
to update the menu in all of the docs based on the DW template by
just uploading the updated FW menu files? i.e. at the mo i have to

This line is testing the value of user settable parameters.
    That test will
succeed when the user has set the parameter called "id" to
    "products" and
the parameter called "productSubsection" to "none".

  • Update Fireworks menu links in Dreamwaver

    Hello :
I posted a topic in forum regarding update links in
Dreamwaver (DW 8). From the reply community experts suggested that
Fireworks menu should not be used in DW template.
In another forum post - titled "dreamweaver template",
another community expert said submenus based on JavaScript will not
work in DW template. "- these will not work in a dw template
    without some editing to make
the paths be site root relative or better, absolute paths."
I manually updated the links(links in pup-up menu imported
from FW ) in templaged-based pages. Is there an easy way to work
with? Please share your experience and approach to this problem
    with me. Thanks!
Here is my code segment for pup-up menus:
By menually update I will menually enter actual links in a
    href="javascript:;" part of the code

    > Is there an easy way to work with?
No. You are sure to become frustrated with these menus.
Nobody here recommends or suggests that you use them.
There are much better menu approaches -

  • Software Update- Now impossible to restore?

I just updated the software on my iPone 4 and then it told me I needed to restore my phone so I clicked "Restore" then my options were "Update & Restore" or "Cancel". I tried the "Update & Restore" it it began to download the software again then tell me once again that I needed to restore. How do I restore without updating too? I am stuck in a continuous cycle and my screen is frozen on the "connect to iTunes". I have the latest version of iTunes.

Your playlists are also in your iTunes library, so you shouldn't lose any of them. Even if you created an On the Go Playlist on the iPod itself, it will still sync back to iTunes with "On the Go Playlist 1", "On the Go Playlist 2", etc.

  • Updates download impossible ??

Since I bought the new MacBookPro 17inch, I am trying to download the updates without succes. I constantly have this error message at the end of the download : Can't be installed "Error NSURLE Error Domain -1005 (-1005)"
Does anyone know what that means ??? Could it be because of an unstable internet connection ? I am in the Maldives and it can be sometimes unstable but I am going on internet without problems !
    Thanks for your insight.
    JM

As far as I know that's an RSS Feed error message ... but why you're getting it from a download stumps me.
Are you using a proxy server, or is your ISP ?
Have you a Safari RSS feed set from the same site ?
Try turning RSS Off or disable RSS in Safari ?
Does the same happen with Firefox/Camino ?
    ... grasping at straws
Is this from Software Update itself, if so try going to the Apple support downloads page and grab the file from there ?

  • Update Fireworks 8 for Windows 7

I have been using Fireworks and just had to get a new laptop which is running Windows 7.  How can I get Fireworks to run on Windows 7?

    Hello Michelle,
you're assuming - and rightly so in my view - your FW8 will not work in WIN7. So I would try to investigate using (the followed is translated from my German WIN):
"Win Help and Support" (Win Hilfe und Support) >>> search "compatibility" (kompatibilität) >>> Open compatibility troubleshoot program (Öffnen der Problembehandlung für die Programmkompatibilität) >>> Click here to open compatibility troubleshoot program. (Klicken Sie hier, um die Problembehandlung für die Programmkompatibilität zu öffnen.) >>> Now follow these instructions (see screenshot):
