Updating Firmware on 7500 model: (download address?)

I've seen a few threads asking for where to find a firmware update for the Verizon/Westell 7500 modem/router.
What is the official address of the 7500 model firmware update?
I already know how to do it. I just want the official answer as to where to get it. Westell says to see Verizon about updating and Verizon says to update. Recursive loop anyone?

Hi.. you should be able to go to the Westell website and dl the latest firmware from there.
Westell.com
That seems to require Unix/Linux

  • Updated firmware of Creative Zen Nano P

Questions?. Why do i need to download new updated firmware every now and then?2. WHat is the disadvantages if i don't download new updated firmware every now and then?3. What is the difference of the updated firmwares found in creative download section and the DAPJukebox website?4. Which is has the best quality firmwares, the creative download section or the DAPJukebox website?thanks?

All software regardless how good the quality control will have bugs.
Firmware is just software that is stored in the hardware on your device. New firmware is often released by a company to fix bugs or possibly add functionality that could enhance the use of a device.
But it is also possible that a new firmware update might add a new bug or two. (a rare occurance)?Sometimes (unfortunatly) new firmware upgrades can end up removing a feature.
For example it appears creative was under some legal pressure to remove the radio recording feature from there devices. On the ZVM, it was removed in one firmware upgrade, then in a later one it was replaced. On the Zen Nano Plus it was removed in the latest firmware upgrade (which is actually a bit old in calendar terms right now), but they have not released a later version that adds the recording back in. So in the case o fthe Zen Nano Plus, an firmware upgrade could be considered a bad thing.
If you require and use the radio recording functionality, then upgrading to the latest version (to fix some minor bugs) could end up crippling some of the functionality of the device. Normally when new firmware is released, there are notes detailing changes in functionality, bugs fixed, and even bugs that still exist. By looking at the information you can determine if you want/need to upgrade to the latest firmware.
Since there is some inherent risk in upgrading a firmware, most people don't upgrade firmware unless they need the new functionality or are experiencing a bug of some kind on the device that the new firmware might possibly remedy.

  • How can I download/update my contacts between my MacBook address and my iPhone 5?

    Hi,
Can anyone help me on this problem?
How can I download/update my contacts between my MacBook address and my iPhone 5? They don't sync with each other.  Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, Catwang!
You can use iTunes to sync the two devices. See the KB article, iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer and iTunes for Mac: sync contacts, calendar and other info.
If you want to use iCloud, your MacBook  needs to use at least OS 10.7.4 or later. See Set up iCloud on all your Devices.

Grrrrr.....makes me miss my stupid PC set up as I could force it to do what I want!
Intermittent connection screws up Netflix, VOIP phone, Amazon, Streaming music via Spotify/Pandora, general internet access.....whole family is ****** off.
    Any tips/tricks/ideas???

Downgrade firmware to 7.6.1 .. as the latest is just lousy.
It is easy to downgrade.. hold down the option key whilst you click the version number. in Macs.. lots of stuff is hidden behind an option key.
I also strongly recommend a factory reset and use all SMB names.. not apple type names..
    ie TC name.. TCgen4
Wireless name TCwifi (or give names to both bands.. TC24ghz and TC5ghz).
That helps all the non-apple part of the world.. connect.
Also Mavericks has now changed over to SMB as well. So even Mac is now windows networking.
Generally these two things. .7.6.1 firmware and SMB names will fix it.. if not post again as is another step that is possible.. controlling the WAN speed of the TC.

  • E1200 V2 upgraded to OS 10.8.2, Cisco Connect unsupported OS, also update firmware?

I purchased myu E1200 Jan 2012. Have been intermittent loss of connection & not sure whether it is old cable modem or router or? ISP came out & checked & changed some cable fittings said looked ok, but could be my old modem. (I'm getting ready to move out of area so don't want to buy a new modem now). But also a lot of my neighbors w Cox report intermittent loss of connection.
I will get messages saying I'm not connected to internet. Usually if i go up & turn off wireless & then turn it back on, it will search & find my router.  Frequently though I notice that when I check it has switched to my guest rather than primary for some reason.
I was having some of this before I even went to wifi a yr ago.
Just upgraded to Mountain Lion a couple weeks ago or so. Last night computer had a panic. I received advice to make sure all software as well as router firmware up to date. Found & updated MacBookPro Firmware update. Backed up.
Opened CiscoConnect & got message unsupported Operating System.
Reading about upgrading firmware, saw warnings about doing it hard wired or it could permanently damage router. Because of the intermittent connectivity problems & the warning, I think I would be safest to do this  manually by downloading it 1st & then updating the firmware from the download.
I see that instructions say to determine Firmware version. & it also says it will ask for router IP address. I'm guessing all that was in Cisco Connect. I know it has my passwords, but now I can't get to it. It also says I can use the web set up page to get the current firmware version. For updates (but it says for pc) it shows 8/2011 & 8/2012. Since mine was purchased in 1/2012 & unless it self updated, I'm guessing it is running the 8/2011 firmware. But just noticed in the User Guide it says that when I run Cisco Connect it checks for updates & installs them.  But that's kind of interesting w all the warnings about running it w a wired connection to make sure no interruptions.  Not sure how I have it set up, but I usually set software updates to prompt me so I can control when they actually run.
Once I have gotten that, will I be able to manually download the appropriate firmware version? Or if I click on that, will that start a set up or update process?
If I download Cisco Connect, will it update the already installed version, keeping all my existing info?  & then will that be compatible w Mountain Lion & then show me whether the firmware needs to be updated?
    Kathi

But anyway, I can't even open the old version!!! I just get a message about unsupported OS! So kind of hard to uninstall if I can't open it.
& for some reason when I was installing Mountain Lion, upgrading from Snow Leopard it found an old version of Parallels which I knew was not compatible.  Didn't even think about this.
Its sort of working but something is not working very well. I sure wish I hadn't listened to those who said to save the $ & not get the Apple Airport Express. Their stuff works & its not hard to set up like this!
    This is SO LAME!!!
& Where is lists the info, I have so far found NO INFO about updating. I usually have my software set to notify me so I control when it updates. & I think the last times I was in Cisco Connect it was under pressure just trying to get the router working again.
Right now I feel like throwing it at something.
Well, I have twice tried to download from the list for my model & when I click on the set up icon I get a message that "Setup" is damaged and can't be opened. You shold eject the disk image." But when I click for more info it says:
The app has been modified or damaged
The app’s code does not match the original code that was signed. The app has been modfied, or it may be broken or corrupted or have been tampered with. If you feel that an app has been damaged or tampered with, you should delete it by dragging it to the Trash.
Some apps and tools, such as AppleScript applications and some legacy tools, modify themselves after signing. These types of apps cannot be opened unless the Gatekeeper settings in the Security & Privacy preferences is set to “Anywhere.”

  • Kernel panics after updating firmware

Kernel panics began at startup after updating firmware about 2 weeks ago. Went through the KP repair routines prescribed by thexlab.com. Found no problems with the hard drive, permissions, etc. Did erase and install (with Leopard OS dvd bought from best buy) after archiving files to external HD and was able to startup normally. Updated OS to 10.5.7, along with several other items (iTunes was one of them). Put previously copied files (mostly iTunes). The computer ran successfully for a few days and then started getting KP's at startup again. Did another erase and install. Had success. Loaded iLife and Office 08 to have something to try to test the machine with. Shut down the computer and restarted successfully. I had forgotten I had not tested the RAM so downloaded Memtest. Tried to run it but the computer froze half way through the test. Did a hard shutdown, then tried to restart normally and got the KP again at startup. Here is the panic log:

Can anyone decipher my KP log and see if there is a fixable problem?

  • HT1237 I have a iMac8,1.  Am needing to update firmware from 10.5.8 to 10.6 or later.

I have an iMac 8,1.  Am needing to update firmware from 10.5.8 to at least 10.6 for new printer.  Help.

I'm afraid what you've asked about is not firmware. Rather it's OS X - the operating system.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

We bought a time capsule, 1TB, then the wifi has a problem since it does not identify the existing wireless network and it says that its need to have an update firmware. The existing firmware is 7.3.1, does it have an newest update firmware existing now? Does APPLE do not provide latest firmware for this item?

How old is that Time Capsule?  The fact that it still have firmware 7.3.1 suggests that it's not the latest model.  The latest firmware available for my two-year-old model is version 7.5.2.  Apple does provide firmware updates.  You just have to let the Time Capsule download and install them.  Use AirPort Utility to do that.
Regarding your Wi-Fi problem, please explain what you mean by "it does not identify the existing wireless network".

I'm going to provide you further instruction on how to properly update the firmware.
    How to Properly Update Firmware:
It is best to update firmware through a USB Cable connection. This is because the firmware update will reprogram your printer. Sometimes with wireless connections there can be intermittent communication. If the firmware update is interrupted in any way while the printer is being updated it can cause a programming failure on your printer. If this occurs you most likely would need a printer replacement. Also, a firmware update gets sent to your printer much like a print job. Therefore, you need to ensure that you do no have any print jobs in queue waiting to print before you update the firmware.
What I would suggest doing is running the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. If you run this tool and select 'fix printing' than the tool will run a scan on your computer and ensure that the connection, software and driver are all properly setup. If the HP Print and Scan Doctor identifies any issues it will attempt to resolve them for you. I suggest installing the printer for USB connection before running this tool as you want to run the firmware update through USB.
    HP Print and Scan Doctor
Once you run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool and get the all clear that everything is set up properly than you can run the firmware update. Please click on the following link for the proper firmware download:
HP LaserJet Pro Series Firmware Update Utility
Once the utility is downloaded, you want to run the tool and send the firmware to the printer. The printer may turn itself off at the end of the update, just turn the printer back on if it doesn't turn on automatically.
In terms of wanting to forward faxes to email or an alternative option like receiving faxes in a folder on your computer, these are not options that you have with your HP Laserjet Pro 200 Colour MFP M276nw. As the specs for your model printer: LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw Specs indicate you only have the option to send faxes from a computer.
Should you still want to receive faxes to your email you could check out the third party service: Efax
However, I believe you may have to pay for this service. Also, should you have any issues with the Efax service HP does not support this on your product. That means that if you need technical support for efax you need to speak with efax regarding this. For further information regarding Efax, please visit: Efax: Easy faxing anywhere
Please let me know if this information resolves your issues. Good luck!

but when install the last update MacBookProEFIUpdate2.9 i got error like this
"This software is not supported on your system."
    please help me thanks

OK, so the firmware is the same as mine, and yet Apple Support offered this EFI and SMC update packages, which should give a message that our computers are updated.
However, the update packages fail to run.
Did Apple neglect to give the correct update for the mid-2012 issue of MacBook Pro 13-inch?  I have the i7 Intel processor, instead of the i5, and I was sold this unit as having two processors, but the System info only lists a single processor.
Is one of the problems with Intel-based MacBook Pro units that the integration wasn't without bugs that cause processor hang when running the OS Lion, even with updates to 10.7.5?
Shouldn't the EFI and SMC updaters run on these machines as stated in the Apple Support article?
What will Apple do for these customers?

  • Hp laserjet 1536dnf MFP LCD panel displays "firmware corrupt ready 2 download"

    Hi guys
Am new in the forums but i beleive somebody somewhere has a solution for the following: a client tried updating the firmware for the above printer but ended up with the message, "Firmware corrupt Ready 2 download". Is there any combinations of buttons to press to do a cold reset?
    Mst2015

    Hi @Mst2015 ,
I see by your post that after doing a firmware update on the printer, the printer displays "firmware corrupt ready 2 download". I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
I can send you that information in a private message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
You should always do the firmware update by a USB connection.
Please let me know if you require any additional assistance.
    Have a fantastic day!
    Thank You.

I don't suppose this new update would be of any help getting my 1536 ouot of its permant display "firmware curruptready 2 download"?
I have contacted HP support with them telling me only it ismy falult for having downloaded thier firmware and that they can only give me a discount on a much bettern printer thatn I need that ould in the end cost me more than i paid for this one. They told me the issue can't be repaired but refused to pass me up the line to the supervisor who was 'unavailable" I have posted a new threadabout the 1536 but dont' much to come from it. I am currently trying to ocate my proof of purchase to see if they can extend my aranty or come up with another date for it expiration that might put me into the warranty but so far no luck.

    Hi tuohylaw,
With regards to the error firmware corrupted ready 2 download, I have included the following document 'A 'Firmware Corrupt Ready 2 Download' Error Message Displays on the Control Panel in Windows XP'. With this document it should clear the error message by completing step one. If not please follow the remaining steps.
Please let me know if this has cleared the error for you, thank you.

External hard drive connected to my airport extreme will no longer open, when navigating to it in Finder, the Finder window quits and reopens, cannot access hard drive, it is visible in airport utility, since the problem began I have updated firmware on Extreme as well as both of my Airport Expresses. Hard drive is USB connected to Extreme.

Reboot the USB drive.. assuming it is powered.. or unplug and replug a self-powered drive.. (you should not use self-powered drives on AE before the latest model.. always use a powered hub).
Does the drive now appear in finder..
If not reboot both drive and the AE.. it should now appear.
If it doesn't work with direct connection try a powered hub.. that can help.

  • Must update firmware before installing OSX Tiger on OS9

I'm trying to bring an iMac G3 with OS9 to life. It's brand new, never been used before, and doesn't yet have internet. I will get internet (Airport Card) soon, but first have a software update problem.
After starting the iMac, I have inserted the install DVD for Tiger. The computer says it must restart to install, and when it restarts, the computer says it must update firmware before installing. I have to choose a system with which it will start up and my choices are:
    OS9: Hard Drive
    OSX: Install DVD
My 3rd option searches for a location, and ends up restarting in OS9.
Every option either results in the inevitable error message that the firmware needs updating or using the OS9 environment.
I read Apple support saying that firmware needs to be updated to fix this problem. Support suggests updating firmware from the OSX install DVD, but I haven't found such updates on the DVD, and need to overcome the firmware problem.
Please help, I am anxious to use my computer!
    Thank you!
iMac G3   Mac OS 9.0.x   updating to OSX Tiger

    Hi, Kristine -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
You can download the firmware update you need from either of these Apple KBase articles -
Article #58174 - iMac: When to Install Available Updaters
    Article #86117 - Firmware Updates
In order to install the firmware update, the machine must be booted to OS 9 on its internal hard drive. It's a good idea to have no external devices connected when you do it, other than the keyboard and mouse. If you can, print out the ReadMe that accompanies the update.
