video won't run, telling me to update flash player, click on update for mac won't update. do i need to load flash player and is it ok for mac?

Yes, it's fine for your Mac ...
Most sites such as YouTube require the Flash plugin.
Flash isn't a player per se, but a plugin.
Sometimes uninstalling the current plugin then reinstalling new can help.
Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Make sure and uninstall the old plugin first then restart your Mac.
If you use Safari to view videos, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.

  • Must be Auto update flash Player/AIR [No update alert]

Every second day Adobe are improving the flash player and AIR, so Flash Player must be Auto update to newer versions and (Major and minor) [No update alert]. It should auto check, and auto download and auto update the flash player. There should not be any user interaction needed. And no administration rights as Flash player is already installed on system, Adobe is just auto updating it. So no alert or dialog box to update player just auto update with out any message as Google Chorme is doing right now (Google chrome update the browser application without any alert to user). So Please follow it.
Why it's required: Every second day Adobe programmers are improving and adding new features, but Flash/Flex developers around the globe can not use those features as their target customers (users) don't have the updated version of flash player/AIR. We can show the alert but we know most of users pick the "NO" as their preferred option.
How can Adobe implement this, there are privacy issue: Adobe can implement this by changing their Adobe flash player agreement (for new installations). They can add one "Flash player policy" web page to their website and link at their home page. Adobe can add one more menu element in their setting tab (right click flash player menu). It's will take little time but for future, it will be really easy for developers to adopt the new feature and software from Adobe.
    Please think about it.

    Hi ersatyle,
    Thanks for clarifying.
will flash player  be automatically updated while a standard user is connected (no admin rights) and without any notifications.
By pointing the Background Updater to an internal server, yes.
Are those settings will work as I intended?
The AutoUpdateInterval setting in the mms.cfg has no effect on the Background Updater. AutoUpdateInterval can only be used for the notification updater. If you're setting up background updates from an internal server, this property is best dropped from the mms.cfg to avoid confusion. The other settings will work as expected. Once you have your clients set up and tested, I also recommend dropping SilentAutoUpdateVerboseLogging, since this will reduce the size of the log file.
As we'll use 32 bits browsers do I need to put the mms.cfg file also in c$\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash, If it wont work, is it doable?
There is only one location for the mms.cfg. The same file is used for 32-bit and 64-bit browsers. From the administration guide, page 22:
    mms.cfg file location:
Assuming a default Windows installation, Flash Player looks for the mms.cfg file in the following system directories:
    •32-bit Windows - %WINDIR%\System32\Macromed\Flash
    •64-bit Windows - %WINDIR%\SysWow64\Macromed\Flash
Note: The %WINDIR% location represents the Windows system directory, such as C:\WINDOWS.
I hope this answers your questions. Let us know if there's anything else.

  • Flash player won't update on my macbook?

I've tried about two dozen times to get flash player to update on my macbook 10.5.8 and it still won't work. The installation always goes fine, and says it was successful at the end, yet never actually works (yes, i've tried restarting my computer after). I used to be able to opt to watch videos online with the older version but now it won't let me and I can't so much as watch a youtube video because it says i'm missing the plug in. Any ideas why it's not working would be greatly appreciated!

    1. System Preferences >  Flash Player > Advanced >  Delete  All
         Press the "Delete All" button.
         Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
       Download it first.
       The next step is important.
Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
Follow the prompts and install it.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.

  • Flash player won't update in firefox in windows 8

I use Mozilla Firefox on a Windows 8 OS. I installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.6, but the content on my page won't pull up. I have one of those spinning circles that just keeps going around and round, but never actually comes up. And, if it does come up, the pictures and content won't show. I uninstalled and the re-installed Flash and Java last night. I checked my add-ons, and they're ok. One thing I noticed is that in the task manager, where it shows "Adobe Flash Player Automatic Updates", it is stopped. Every time I restart it, it won't stay in start, it keeps stopping, but I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Please Help!! I'm an online student and have exams due TODAY!! I really need to be able to pull up the content of the exams so I don't lose points for turning in late work. Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.

I don't know what is causing your problems with Firefox, but if you need to see Flash content I suggest that you use IE10 with the built-in Flash Player.

  • Flash player won't update/install/work/etc.

About a week ago my flash player apparently stopped working.
Sites like youtube, google video, none of these will work because
it says I need to update my Flash player. Everytime I try to
update, the installer runs, IE restarts, and the problem persists.
I have done this over 20 times, and it will not work.
I have used the uninstaller to take flash player off and
reinstall the newest version, but this does not work either. I have
done it at least 6 times with no results. I am running Windows
Vista, and when i run it in Safe Mode it works fine, but not on
normal booting... only safe mode. Are there any known programs or
malicious software that could be interfering with it functioning
properly? Or maybe another suggestion on getting it to work
    correctly?

omg I have the same problem too, i swear ive tried almost
everything I can even think of, what happens for me is ill go to
install it and it will show that the adobe flash is trying to load
something but eventually it wont load and just repeats itself into
a loop trying to install it. ive tried reinstalling uninstalling,
playing with the registry, going into the activex folders and
messing around there and i cannot find why it wont let me install
it., I have windows XP home and using IE, but it works good on
    Firefox.

  • Mac OS X : Flash Player won't update

    I'm running a Mac OS X, version 10.3.9 (500MHx Power PC G3).
I used to run Verison 8 of Flash Player, but a video I wanted to
watch required I update Flash to 9. I went to the Adobe site,
downloaded, did everything. It appeared that Flash did download,
but when I go to a site that requires Flash the content appears
blank. (Or if there is text companying the video, where the video
    would be is completely blank.)
I tried installing Flash through Firefox (2.0.0.15), but it
says Flash 9 failed to download.
I tried going back to Flash 8, but it wouldn't work either.
Does anyone know how to correct this problem?

Follow these instructions: How to perform a "clean install" of Flash Player in Mac OS X to the letter. You'lll perform an "offline" install and be up to date.
Adobe updates are released on average about every six weeks, not once a week. In fact, the most often they've been this year was in March when a security issue was addressed and an additional Windows update was released ten days after the regular update, but that wouldn't have affected you on a Mac.

  • Adobe flash player won't update?

Hi there! I keep getting blocked plug-in messages. I try to update Adobe Flash Player and when I get to step 3 the screen says "blocked plug-in" (imagine that!) and therefore I cannot finish the download. I have enabled all plug-ins in the Preferences-Security window as well.
    Stumped.... Please help

Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.
    Then do the following:
Make sure you download Adobe Flash Player that pertains to your OS which your system profile confirms is OS 10.6.8.
    Check Flash Version
Adobe strongly recommends that you first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html#main_1 0_4
Follow the instructions closely, such as quitting ALL applications first before installing.  Repair permissions and restart your computer after the installation is completed.

  • Flash Player Won't Update

I regularly receive invitations to update, and I follow the instructions! However, when I try to run  "install_flashplayer12x32au_chra_aaa_aih.exe"  it starts, but after several seconds stops and closes!? Any explanation/suggestions!?

Don't use the GUI downloader/installer to update. Anti-virus software messes with it something awful.
Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by clicking one of the following links.
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Close your browser and run the installer.

  • Reader will not download and flash player won't update. No errors or run prompt.

The screen doesn't advance from step 2

Download and run the offline installers:
    Adobe Reader: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    Flash Player (Mac OS)

  • Flash player must be updated! update or die!

Hello. I am a system administrator to park more than 200 computers, on my initiative, each of them set firefox. Internet access in our company through a proxy server with authentication and this makes it extremely difficult to update Flash Player automatically. And since the firefox happens regularly hysteria about the update flash player to constantly update it manually. Because the user can not simply go to the site and perform the tasks he needs fayrfoks blocks flash player and it's a huge problem. I can not go into the settings and add-ons to install fayrfoks always run flash player because this item is inactive. I'm ready to update fleshpleer every six months or at the time when it is really needed. But update it every month is absolutely inadequate and furthermore creates problems all around, and these problems are much greater than those that may arise as a consequence of violations of imaginary security. These system administrators as I form the main your audience, set the browser on the user workstation and as a consequence, the user then sets the house on their own already familiar it does. But as the firefox became extremely uncomfortable and this problem can not be solved, I'll be forced to go to another browser that does not create problems and remove the firefox from all computers in the enterprise. And probably if you do not solve a problem that they themselves have created, so go more and more people. My question is how to disable this paranoia in firefox? How to make sure that he did not specify when I have to update one or another plugin? And work in normal mode even run any outdated plugin without creating problems to me and users?

Take your complaints to Adobe who makes the Flash Player!
Ask them why they created 5 new versions of Flash since the beginning of December 2014; three of which were in January 2015 alone. Adobe needs to get "its house in order" and maybe fix it right the first time!
Mozilla is just blocking the older versions of Flash due to reported security exploits to protect Firefox users from being exploited by faults within Flash.
''BTW, Mozilla is working on a project using HTML5 technology [code named Shumway], that [hopefully] someday will replace Flash entirely.''

  • HT5271 Downloaded latest Apple updates that informed me old versions of Adobe Flash Player were disabled and advised me to go to Adobe and down load latest version of Flash Player. Did that, but Flash Player won't play swf files, which it did before.

Downloaded latest Safari update that informed me that older versions of Adobe Flash Player were being disabled and then advised me to go to Adobe and down load latest version of Flash Player. Did that, but Flash Player won't play swf files, which it did before. (Instead of opening, it comes up as a page of code).

    Hi..
    Quit Safari.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
    Click:  Delete All
    Now select the Storage tab.
    Click Delete All
    Relaunch Safari to test.
