Updating folder

I've right-clicked on a folder and clicked "Check for missing folder and files" but nothing happens when I know there are sub-folders that aren't displayed.
The only way I can get now showing files to do a File|Import and point to the folder. Is this a bug (I'm on Windows) or am I missing something?

Check for missing looks for thumbnails in the library that aren't on the disk.
Importing from the folder is what you want.

I have already upgraded one iPad to IOS7 from iTunes. The .ipsw file is still in my ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates folder. Why, when I attempt to upgrade a second iPad, does iTunes want to start downloading it yet again? It's already there. Brain damage in iTunes? I have to limit my download activity due to my ISP (can't get another one yet).

Outlook 2010 won't update new messages unless you update folder

Hi,
Outlook 2010 sp1 with Exchange 2010 latest sp.
Scenario:
Some users are not receiving emails unless they click on update Folder. Once they do emails come in.
Troubleshooting:
No virus scanning outlook folder.
Delete the profile with OST and re-created it.
Send immediately when connected is enabled.
Cache Exchanged mode is enabled (Must be ...there are 15000 users with mailboxes here).
(If Cache mode is disabled everything works fine) This is not an option for us.
Download shared folders whether it is enabled or disabled still the same problem.

I would suggest your to start Outlook with /cleanips switch and check behavior,
Just click Start, click Run, type
outlook/cleanips, and then click OK. Microsoft KB article:

Can you delete the contents of the Updates folder?

Hi,
Trying to free up some space on my hard drive. Using OmniDiskDweeper app. Just wondering if it's safe to delete the contents of the Updates folder; the one located in the hard drive/library. There is about 5 GB of stuff in there.

After running Disk Inventory X I have found my Library - Updates Folder is 4.8GB but i cannot access the folder to empty it.
The biggest folders all begin with zzzz. Would it be okay to delete these? What are they?

Hard drive level Library/Updates. There is a .plist there you need to keep. Do a backup, create a folder on the Desktop and drag the other files to it. Restart and make sure your computer runs normally. If so, you can delete the other files.

If the folder was replaced, it was written over.
Nothing short of forensic data recovery (probably involving taking the drive apart to scan the discs seperately) is going to recover anything (if indeed even that will).

Office Updates through the Updates Folder

I am trying to make an office package for my sccm environment. I downloaded all the cab files from the "wsusoffline tool" but say if I extract all the cab files to the updates folder there is obviously duplicate files names such as excel-x-none.msp.
I guess what I am looking for is guidance to best practice to getting all the updates properly in that folder. I wish microsoft had a pack of MSP files you could just download easily.
We also have Office Updates in SCCM that I could deploy out to the machines but most of our technicians use offline installer usb drives so I do not think that would work.
Any help would be great.

I am doing some research. And I might involve someone who is more familiar with this kind of issue to deal with this problem.

ITunes fails to install update "folder path program files contains an invalid character"

I'm trying to get the newest version of itunes, but I keep getting "the folder path program files contains an invalid character." I've seen on here before attempts to use Microsoft fix it and Windows Clean up which I've tried and both haven't helped. I've gone to youtube and tried to delete the appropriate folders under the registry edit. Nothing seems to work. I need the new itunes to update my iphone because of the recent hardware crash via the new update.

At what stage in the process does this occur?

I updated folder info via windows explorer....

& now my songs/albums are missing from itunes. well, the names are there but the files aren't. because i moved/edited them. but only within my main library folder so they're there but itunes thinks they're in a different THERE.
i had a bunch of albums showing as "compilations" that weren't (ie licensed to ill by the beastie boys) so i moved their folders from the "compilations" folder to their respective artist folders in windows explorer. i also made some changes to misspelled artist names on folders and stuff. now when i try to play those songs in iTunes they can't be located.
conceptually i understand why, but i didn't move anything out of my main library destination folder, just within it so i don't see why i should have to re-import or -add all of the files....is there a way to refresh/redirect iTunes (without doubling all of my files) or do i have to go "locate" each song/file individually?

I hate that Compilations folder, too. So here's a tip - when you rip CDs to itunes in the future, BEFORE you hit the import button in itunes, do a +Get Info+ on all the tracks and make sure the "Part of a Compilation" is turned off in the Options tab.
As to itunes losing the paths to the files, that is how it is designed. It only knows absolute path names to the files. By renaming or moving files using Windows Explorer, you confused itunes.
You either have to
1. re-add the files so itunes gets updated with the new path (and remember to delete the old entry with the bad path)
2. Locate each song individually

WSUS updates folder question

My wsus update I created on my SCCM server is getting to full , so I want to move that folder to another drive. So my question is where in sccm or wsus (that is installed on the same server) do I repoint to the new location? Also since there is a lot of
old updates how can I clean them up or do I just leave them alone. Thanks.

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Update folder - can it be cleaned out

I have a folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Update on the PC where I have Acrobat Standard 7.0 installed which has over 58MB of files in it (mostly .rtp files)- can it be cleaned out once I have installed an update?

thanks for the reply. I think i got it. When they gave us the new computers, they installed a copy of acrobat without some of the latest updates. update 7.0.5,.7,.8, and .9 were missing from our programs. I also noticed that her create to PDF setting for microsoft office was set to standard but the distiller was using high quality. i think fixing the combination of the two may have fixed it. I am going to try and create a full report and see. I will post back and let you know if the issue is gone.

How to adjust the "Recent Updates" folder in iTunes.

I have a 2009 iMac running OS 10,10,1 and iTunes 12.0.1.26. In the podcast section, at the top of the sidebar there is what appears to be a folder titled "Recent Updates." I have looked noticed that it has been showing 134 episodes for the past two weeks irrespective of the fact that on a tiny fraction of the podcasts within this folder have yet to be listened to. Can anyone tell me why in the world the episodes are showing as 134 instead of the actual number of unlisted to recent downloads?
As you can imagine the second half of my question is "how" do I adjust this number?

If its a new device
Plug in the cable in to you ipod
Put the other end in the usb port in your computer
When you plug it in to your computer there will start a program that is installing the program to run with your ipod with itunes
Don't do anything and wait till the program is completed with dowloading
If every thing is alraight itunes wil open up and you get to choose if you want to setup a new ipod or if tou want to setup the ipod with a backup

Facing error on all users profile as i have two SMTP address @domainX.com.pk and @domainY.com.pk and i have change default smtp but error still same.
Apart from this when i check my outlook conversion folder is up to date and updated.

Hi,
If you change the SMTP account same with SIP account, please try to delete Lync user profile and restart Lync, Outlook client to test again.
If you want to use different SMTP account with Lync account, you can also try to change Lync client policy, change the parameter DisableEmailComparisionCheck to True.

Keeping an automatically updating folder of another folder (which is on a remote server)?

Hi all,
I don't know if that will make sense to you, but here is my problem/what I would like to do – I have googled this extensively but have not gotten anywhere - so hopefully someone here will be able to help!
I am keeping my work files on a remote server - I have a personal drive there, which I connected to my Mac, so I can instantly access the files on that drive from the finder. This, however, means that I only have one copy of this stuff, and if I am not connected to the internet, I cannot access my files. So –
I would like to keep a local copy of this on my hard disk, which I don't have to keep updated manually (similar to services like dropbox, etc., but not updating this to the internet but to my local hard drive). Unfortunately, I cannot use dropbox etc. on the remote server, otherwise I would use this, so I really have to do this locally on my computer. I saw a lot of stuff on Folder Actions/Automator Workflow etc., but I don't know nearly enough about this to figure this out myself.
I'd appreciate any help!
(Also, I am currently still using Mavericks, but I will update to Yosemite soon, if that makes a difference)

Update Folder Name in Itunes after altering Folder Name in Windows Explorer

I changed the names of Album folders using Windows Explorer. How can I make the new folder names appear in the Album list within Itunes?

iTunes doesn't display the folder names, it displays imnformation in the library database which it takes from the tags. If you want to chamge what iTunes displays, use Get Info to edit the information.
But if you change folder names in Windows explorer, iTunes will no longer be able to find the files as the path has changed and iTunes doesn't do folder watching.

How to update folder content?

How do you get LR to recognize new files that are in the library's folders? For example if I open a raw file from LR, LR creates a PSD edit file, which I then edit in PS. There are now two files in the LR library folder, the original raw file that I imported and the new PSD edit file. While in PS, I decide that I need to also save a screen res jpeg version to email to an art director, so I resize and save the jpeg to the same folder. This file does not appear in the folder when viewing the folder in the LR library. I try right clicking on the folder and selecting check for missing folders and photos, but this does not make the file appear.
How do I get LR to automatically recognize new image files that have been added to the folder in its library? I haven't found anything in the preferences or menus that would appear to enable this capability. Surely I don't have to go through the re-import process just to get LR to see new files in the folder.

Think of LR as a black box that stores "master" images. "Export"ing means you want to produce a new file and send it *outside* the black box for some external purpose - email, printing, web, whatever. If, for some reason, you want to edit a master file in some way within LR and keep that version in the black box, then you should be creating a virtual copy (don't export it and then try to import it back into LR). Later, when you want to actually *do* something with that copy, then you export it - again for emailing, printing, etc. But that virtual copy is retained inside the black box. You can even use a stack to keep all the versions of a master image together.
The other objective for getting a file out of LR is to edit it in an external application like PS. For that, use the "edit in PS" or "edit in other application". This performs an export, but brings the edited image back into LR as a new master. And you can have it stacked with the original master.
However, what if you create some third image in PS from the one sent from LR? This gets us to the crux of the matter (what you ask in your original post). We can't simply assume that any file derived from PS is to be made part of LR. That's up to the user. However, it may be that case that it is the intent of the user to "reimport". So how do we do this?
The LR team apparently has decided that the user must import the new image. You are suggesting that another approach is for the user to simply store the new image in the same folder as the LR source and have it automatically imported, like a watched folder. That seems like a good approach. If this approach were taken, then Adobe would have to fix the situation where only one file of a given name (w/o extension) in a folder can be in the library.
I know iViewMedia Pro provides any number of watched folders, so it can be done. I wonder, given that the Adobe engineers switched from the "shoot" concept to folders between Beta 4 and version 1, they didn't have time to add a rich set of features regarding the use of folders. We can hope that they will improve the features as time goes on.
