Updating Folio

Hey everyone,
as I read before, I´m not the only person with a serious update-problem.
Does anyone know, how to solve this?
I am working on a folio including many single articles.
Now I made some changes at article No8 (nothing serious, just a font size or something like that).
After updating the folio in my content viewer on the iPad, article No2 does show weird effects. For example some objects (like rectangles and other stuff) are gone (not even always in both of the two layouts for landscape and portrait) or there are even whole pages (!) missing. I want to underline, that all the stuff in article No2 worked perfectly before updating article No8 - I did`t change ANYTHING.
Another weird thing is the shown file-size while updating the folio on the iPad; first, it says the folio has got 79MB, updating 3 hours later: 10MB.
Deleting the complete folio from my workspace and creating it again: 36MB. Updating: 48MB.
That doesn`t seem to make sense to me at all!
I need to share this folio with my customer - but I am worried, that it won`t work that way. I can`t look through 120 pages with all the interactivity everytime I update the folio, just to realize that stuff in other articles somehow disappeared or looks weird.
What will my customer say, if he is to see the fact of whole pages missing, silly mistakes showing up... shall I say "Well, it all did work well, but Adobe`s Content Viewer just doesn`t work how it should!"
Really, sometimes everything works perfectly and 15 minutes later the whole thing is giving me nothing but confusion.
Anybody with any ideas......? Any similar problems? Any solutions..?
Thanks a lot!!
Best regards!

agree on the percentage. Also, i'd love to have the status bar on the indesign logo in the dock.

  • In what order to update folio and app?

    Hi there
I've just received approval for a v25 app in the iOS app store, pending developer release. Ive also made edits my folio (v23), but not yet published/updated it.
What is the correct order to release app and update folio? Should one be done before the other or does it not matter?
    Thanks!
    DW

    Hi Bob,
    Thanks for the reply.
I must release the v25 app first even though the folios are only v23? The current app is v23.
    thanks

  • Understanding Analytics on updated Folios

We have an App which has been in the iTunes store for over a year which contains 4 folios.
Unlike a publication such as "Wired" magazine, our client does not want previous issues to appear in the app - each updated monthly issue effectively overwrites the previous issue (this is because each issue has its own monthly set of pricing for products within the folio).
By updating the folio, changing the issue name to the new month, and updating the relevant thumbnails etc, this allows us to create a new version of the publication without it actually being a whole new folio.
    So far so good.
The problem for us and our client is that we can't find a way to determine how many downloads of the folio are happening each month (we can look at the Consolidated Reports etc to get an idea of total folios being downloaded, we can look at the Analytics to show similar details, but it only seems to register a "download" when someone downloads that folio for the first time). If that someone has already downloaded the folio, then subsequently downloads the next month's updated folio, this doesn't appear to register as a download.
I suspect that this is a win for us, and a lose for Adobe (so I probably shouldn't be mentioning it here), but we'd really love to be able to show the stats to our client so that they feel like there are actually people reading each new issue of the publications.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can make the analytics work for us in this instance?
    Cheers,
    Eoghan.

Thanks for your reply confirming the inability to determine the count of "updated" folios downloaded Neil.
In response to the "wacky" comment, you ask: "When your client published print catalogs they didn't try to pull back the previous month's print catalog, they just sent out a new one with new pricing. Why do they want to do it with the digital version?"
I would have thought the answer to that would be obvious: This is not a print version, this is a digital version - digital's new, right? Why would we want to just keep on replicating the same old system as we were forced to do with print?
As a "solutions provider" for our client, doesn't it make sense to have just the one updated version, with current pricing as the ONLY version available? This saves confusion for the end user (our client's customers), it saves them having to delete the old version before their iPad fills up with outdated issues (which are no longer useful), and it ensures that our client's sales staff are not having to waste time explaining to customers who are expecting a particular price that they've been looking at the wrong issue.
We still print those catalogs for our client, but with declining print numbers of each publication, providing a digital version for those who want it is a great way for the client to lower costs, and for us to continue to be able to serve our client and make a few dollars.
I can understand that Adobe might not like this method of delivering content, as there is no "download fee" collected for an updated version of a folio, but this helps us to dilute the unexpected costs lumped on us in March when the ball game changed unilaterally for Professional Edition users.
    Eoghan.

  • Can not update folio's since latest Folio Builder panel update

I want to add articles to my folio, but since the latest update after uploading one page (say vertical) the Folio Builder keeps spinning (see image) and if I log on to the website it syas articles are corrupt.
Now I need this folio to be updated before tomoroow and I'm stuck here?
    Bug?

    See screenshot.

It looks like we are experiencing the same problem. (See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/924524?tstart=0) The common thread seems to be uploading pages as PDFs -- the publication I was working on was also set up that way.

  • Artifacts in updated folios

Recently I have had significant issues with artifacts from older builds sticking around or new builds not updating at all.
The issue can almost always be fixed by updating the article again and redownloading the folio. The only problem is that this takes time. Especially with how slow the DPS servers have been the last few days.
I've been using DPS for over 18 months and it has only been since Sprint 23 that I have had this issue. Is this a known bug?

I have an article that I have uploaded and made modification to such as making it horizontal swipe only. I then download the folio to my iPad to test. I find an error, correct in the InDesign document, save the document, and then update the existing article. When I re-download the folio, the updates are not complete.
Please note that this does not happen all the time and I have found that closing InDesign, and restarting my computer can fix the issue (but not always). I have also noticed a correlation between days when uploads and downloads to and from the DPS servers are slower and the days this happens.
    Thanks

  • Error when updating Folio in CS6

I have a Folio that I built in CS5 published and everything, but I want to update it.  I updated in CS6 re-saved all of the files and links, but I still get an error when I try to  "update" in the Folio Builder.
    Content generation error.
Failed to open the file. Please confirm the file can be opened in the current version of InDesign.

I did not have any yellow triangles. But upon further investigation, there are some upgrades in DPS CS6 version, thta might be better suited for a redesign as apposed to an upgrade.
What I belive to be the problem was the Alternate Layouts. I had them in different files and I think that was causing some problems. But I no longer have the luxury of time to fiugre this out, must move on.
    thanks

  • Problems updating folios in multi issue viewer

I created a multi issue viewer app containing two issues. Now I try to update one of these two issues in the DPS Folio Producer Organizer, but the app still shows the old version of the issue.
I update the issue with the "update"-button and deleted the multi issue viewer and re-installed it on my iPad many times, but the multi issue viewer still shows the old version of the changed issue.
Finally I deleted the changed issue in the DPS Folio Producer Organizer, but the multi issue viewer still shows the old version of the issue.
    What can I do now?

I suggest calling enterprise support for this, they should be able to help you figure out what is going on. You can find contact information by logging into http://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/ and looking in the bottom middle of the page.

  • Version 19 Release - Update Folio Builder panel

Digital Publishing Suite released a mandatory update to the Folio Builder panel as well as a new version of the Folio Producer tools. You can view a list of new features here: What's new in this release.
Should you update the Folio Builder panel?
Yes, or you won't be able to use the panel. Note that updating the panel does not affect your version of the DPS tools.
Should you update the Folio Producer tools?
If you're in the last stages of publishing a folio, if you have an important presentation coming up, or if you created a custom viewer using a previous set of tools and don't want to update your viewer app yet, install only the Folio Builder panel.
If you install the new Folio Producer tools and create a folio, you cannot view it in the current Adobe Content Viewer on the iPad (until Apple approves the new version) or with a custom viewer app that hasn't been updated to v19. If you try to open a new folio in an older viewer, a "Please update your app" message appears.
If you have a Professional or Enterprise account, you can use the Viewer Builder to create a custom version of the Adobe Content Viewer so that you don't have to wait for Apple to approve.

  • Problems updating folio builder ID CS6

Hello all. My IT dept and myself are at our wits end--we cannot get ID to update. I opened the Folio Builder pallete and it tells me I need to update. When I attempt to do it from the app, the "update" under the help menu is "grayed out." And also when I download the patch and try it the old-fashioned way, the "manager" that launches says there is an admin issue.
Well, I do not have admin privileges, so my IT dept has logged in--both as an admin account and root--but they have the same issues. We even changed my user account to have admin privileges, restarted and there was no change.
AND, we uninstalled CS6, 5.5, 5 and 4 that were still on this machine. Re-installed CS6 and still no change.
Clearly there is some file/setting somewhere that is confusing InDesign and the updater engine/app.
Any thoughts? We are having the same issue on multiple machines.
    thank you.

  • After update Folio Builder Panel 1.1.3. articles keep on loading

    Hi all,
After updating the Folio Builder Panel as requested (by the panel it self), we are unable to acces any articles. A loading icon keeps on animating and the article-folders stay grey. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Looking forward hearing from you.
    Regards,
    Remco van den Hout

The good news, your'e not alone. The bad news... Adobe doesn't really have a fix at this point.
It's a problem where the DPS thinks you are trying to update those articles, and they don't ever get reset to a state of "updated". The only fix I was able to do, unfortunately, was to trash the folios and reupload the whole thing again. It's unclear at this time where the problem was introduced so it might take a while for a fix.
It was a major pain to have to do this stuff over again – but I know that the issue has been documented and they are looking into it.
I recommend you make a sidecar.xml file with all the folio descriptive copy. This way, if you have to do this process another time, you can import the sidecar file and it will populate all of your articles again a lot faster. You might have to still adjust the order in a few cases... but it works pretty well. Info on that here:

  • Updating folio for iTunesConnect

I've updated my folios in Organizer because Apple couldn't find my In-App Purchase in their Review process (I had accidentally left it as Public). Do I have to rebuild the app and submit a new distribution app? Or will the Update in Organizer automatically flow through? Many thanks.

It'll auto-flow through. No need to rebuild the app.

  • Updating Folio builder

Is there a way to easily find out which articles in a folio have been updated? It would be good if folio builder worked like the links pallette and you had a little warning sign next to the articles which need updating from local copies.
I've always been frustrated by this and just though I'd ask in case I've been missing something that would save me A LOT of time.
    Thanks in advance.

    There isn't
