Updating from firefox 29 beta to release version

I am currently on Firefox 29 Beta, with the browser updated to the latest RC version last week. But as of 29th April 2014, the release version of Firefox 29 has been introduced. I wanted to know if my browser will update to the release version using the automatic updater or if I need to update manually from beta version to release version.

hello joynul007, when you're on firefox 29 beta currently you will be updated to firefox 30 beta in a few days. in case you'd like to switch back to the regular release versions, just download firefox 29 for your system & language from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all.html and install it on top of your current beta version (this will keep all your bookmarks, passwords and settings).

• After automated update from Firefox 4 beta to RC I lost my profile

After this morning automated update from Firefox 4 beta to the RC the browser created a new profile without importing the existing one .
So, please help me to recover my data.

it looks like the new version creates the default profile in C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ I've copied the files from the older location (C:\Users\My _user\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\) and the problem is solved.
if this is the intended behaviour, it sucks!
This is not normal behavior. The default Firefox profile folder should still be located here, on Windows Vista: <br>
C:\Users\< user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>.
<br>ref: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox#Windows
Restart the computer and make sure you are logged into Windows as the correct user, by entering %USERPROFILE% into the Windows Start Menu "Start Search" box. Once you are sure you are logged in as the correct user, try starting Firefox again and see if you are using the old Firefox profile folder (go to Firefox -> Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Open Containing Folder")
You can also create a new Firefox profile with a unique name - see Managing profiles - then find the new profile folder and use the instructions here to copy over your data:
Recovering important data from an old profile (It's better to only copy selected data and reinstall your needed extensions).

• Updating from iOS 5 beta 7 "expired version" to iOS 5 final build

I have a netbook computer running Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1. I also have an iPhone 4 running an "expired" version of iOS 5 beta 7 (according to the final release of iTunes 10.5). The problem is that when I try to restore the iPhone in order to update to the final build of iOS 5, the backup always fails with the error message "iTunes could not backup the iPhone "Arjun Shriram's iPhone" becauae a session could not be started with rhe iPhone."  The same error is occuring on this machine and also on my dad's MacBook Pro running OS X Lion 10.7.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you have an iPad 2? The first generation iPad maxes out at 5.1.1.
Does your iPad have a camera on it? if not, it's a first gen, not a second.

• Jquery content not working after the updates from firefox

Hi, i've realized that some of my website's banner is not working after the recent updates from firefox, whereas those website's banner is working in google chrome.
Hope there is a solution for this as i'm using the firefox for years and wish this issues can be settle.
The banner URL is http://www.irs.com.my/slider/index.html

SlideDeck has a post on how to resolve this error, caused by a bug in this very old version of their library that you're using. See: Firefox 20 update and SlideDeck.js – we’ve got you covered for more information. As a Pro customer, you were supposed to get an email notice, but... here you are.
I studied the script before discovering that and found two issues, but there might be more:
(1) slidedeck.jquery.js detects Firefox 20 as Firefox 2 and halts. Note that this regex is the problem:
firefox2:F.match(/firefox\/2/)?true:false
(2) Starting in Firefox 16, the -moz-transform property was unprefixed, that is, you need to use transform for Firefox 16 and later.

I want a clean install of 9.1 but would like to keep all my settings, cookies, passwords, dictionary, etc.

There is no need to uninstall the older version. you can update it.. go to help in the menu bar> then take> about firefox >then update the same..You can keep all your items in the new version..

• After updating to Firefox 8 Beta for Mac, no window opens on startup.

After updating to Firefox 8 beta on Mac, I tried to open a new session. Upon starting, a pop-up appeared in the upper left corner of the screen. (http://i51.tinypic.com/2z9i99s.png)
I tried to close it by clicking Cancel or OK, neither of which was successful. Is there any way to fix this problem?

Firefox 16 versions still work with your OS X 10.5 operating system, but that is the last version that will work.<br />
Firefox 17 will require OS X 10.6 and later.

• Updater will not install updates from Firefox

Windows XP, click on Help, About Firefox, Check for updates. They download. Then I click on Apply update. A window appears saying "updater.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." Then I may choose whether to send the error report.
There has been no update. It will not install.
Why does this happen? The only way I can get updates from Firefox is to go to Mozilla.com and download.
I tried the troubleshooting tips in Firefox Help and nothing worked.

I should have explained that this has been going on for a long time. When I first installed Firefox several years ago their updates installed fine.
Then they no longer would install, starting in July 2007 when they downloaded Firefox 2.0.0.4. After they installed that, Firefox would not even open, and I got an error message. I had to uninstall and reinstall.
I figured out over time that I would have to go to their website and download the updates myself, each time they announced that an update needed to be installed. It would then install fine. And Firefox would open as it should. This has been the case for a long time.
So it does work out doing it this way. It is something of a nuisance, and it would be nice if the updates worked smoothly and automatically, as they used to.
I thought this might be some problem others users have had and would know how to fix it.
Thank you.

• Why can't 4.01 connect after updating from Firefox 4? I must use a system restore to get back online with Firefox 4, using Vista Home Basic SP2.

Firefox is my default browser. Recently I updated from 3.5 to 4.0 with no problem. Then, using 4.0, the new update notice appeared. I clicked to update to 4.01, but after downloading, 4.01 could no longer connect to any web page, and displayed the error connecting message (including "server may be busy, wait and try again" etc.). It never did connect. Yet Internet Explorer was able to, which I loathe to use even as a back up browser. I also checked to see if IE9 had stolen the default browser association, but it hadn't. I was hoping I could blame Microsoft's shenanigans, oh well!
I then did a system restore from a point a few days prior, and 4.0 was up and running like before.
Twice thereafter, I tried to update again manually, using Help/About Firefox/Check for Updates. The same thing happened.
I'm content for now to stick with 4.0. FYI & FWIW, I tried to provide this feedback to Mozilla at another page, and was told I must have "the latest version" in order to submit feedback. I'm glad I found this way of letting you know of this repeated problem.

• How do I get rid of Search, I installed this program accidently as it claimed to be an update from firefox?

Search has taken over my home page and search page.
I understand that it is a malicious virus that is designed to send lots of adds and also invade the PC and find out personal details.
I accidentally installed this while working on wordpress.
I received several warnings that I needed this update.
When I clicked on the page I received a certificate from Norton that verified that this was safe.
I have uninstalled from the programs list in uninstall programs.
All help would be appreciated.

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.
*Only update Firefox via "Help > About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.
*Plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.
You can also do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

• Javascript not loading content after updating from firefox 26 to 27

on my site i have a page on which javascript pre-loads the content and then shows it.
this thing was working perfectly fine on firefox 26 but soon as i updated to firefox 27
the content doesn't show after loading
Like i have an image for 'loading content' which first appears and then the loaded content
shows up. This image is still showing in version 27 but the content which shows after is not showing at all.
I inspected the page and the divs and content is there but its just not visible somehow.
Please help me with this problem .. im stuck with this if it doesn't show up. Thanks.

this doesn't solve the problem.
actually its working on all other browsers, the content is showing.
but its not working on firefox 27. what problem could it be which is preventing version 27 from loading the content when its working just fine on version 26 (i just checked it on a different system with version 26).
also there was an instance when the same content wasn't loading on version 26 also but it was a problem due to some pinterest script. once i removed it everything became just fine i.e. content started loading (on version 26). Now, if that helps in deducing the problem please help me out.

• Firefox 4 beta overrides older version.

I´ve installed Firefox 4 beta today. I also have Firefox (not beta) installed. When opening "Mozilla Firefox" (a shortcut) from the desktop Mozilla 4 beta opens, when opening "firefox.exe" from c:/program files/Mozilla Firefox Firefox 4 beta open. This is quite disturbing because i like the new beta but I cant use it to open older extentions. Now it will be a uninstallation and i hope you´´ll solve this to next update ;)

This seems to happen sometimes.
To display the new interface, right-click in a blank area at the end of the menu bar and uncheck Menu Bar from the popup. You now should get the orange Firefox button. (Tap the Alt key to display the classic menu bar when needed.)
If you are not getting the new start page, you can delete your current home page from the options:
Tools > Options > General
I'm sure I'm forgetting something. What else doesn't seem right?

• Windows 7 jumplist is missing from Firefox 15 beta

I'm on the beta update channel and I think I was recently updated to Firefox 15.0. After I start Firefox in Windows 7, I can't bring up a jumplist so I can't pin it to my taskbar.

Apparently this bug got pushed to the release channel now. After updating to 15.0.1, restarting Firefox used a new icon on the taskbar rather than the one that had been pinned before (as usual). But when I right click on the new icon to pin it, nothing happens. There's no jumplist at all, not even the minimal one that pops up for programs that don't make use of jumplist functionality. So I can't even pin the icon to my taskbar.

• Why am I unable to update from firefox 4.0.1 on mac osX 10.6.8 when my Mac meets the requirements?

I have a Mac OSX (10.6.8) with an 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor, 16GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory and 2TB hard drive.
Yet I am unable to upgrade from FireFox version 4.0.1
I can no longer access my YouTube account, and other websites, because I am told the FireFox version I am running is not compatible.
Why am I unable to upgrade to the latest version of FireFox?
Do you just not want Mac owners to run your browser? It seems this is the case as this has been an ongoing issue that should have been resolved already.

Firefox 4 versions and later do not run on a PowerPC Mac and require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.
