Updating from ios5.0.1 to ios 5.1.1

I have been using ipad ios 5.0.1 since i last updated. I want to upgrade to 5.1.1 because there are some apps that i want to get only work from 5.1.1 and above but i refuse to update to the latest ios6 because of the amount of bugs on it right now. is there a way i can do it? If i try to restore using an 5.1.1 ipsw from itunes, itunes generates error 3194 and stops the update in its tracks. Anyone have anyidea how i can solve the problem without updating to ios6? I rather use an outdated ios atm than go to ios6.

As far as I know, nothing can get you to get 5.1.1 Though I highly not recommend it, but try searching up an iOS 5.1.1 ISPW file. I went across one before. Follow their instructions on how to install the ISPW file. I recommend just to go with the flow, and update to iOS 6. Yes, the maps are crappy, yes there are bugs, and yes you lose the YouTube app, but my iPad is still working like butter, like in iOS 5.1.1

How do i get my iPhone 4S out of recovery mode without losing all my data? I am not very tech savvy and too scared to do anything without instruction. Okay I have read that info but the iTunes sreens I am experiencing has different messages.
1st = iTunes has dectected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore the iPhone before it can be used in iTunes.
2nd = iPhone is in recovery mode. Restore
3rd = Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone "iPhone" to its factory settings? All of your media and other data will be erased, and the newest version of iPhone software will be installed.
iTunes will verify the restore with Apple. After this process is complete, you will have the option to restore your contacts, calendars, text messaes and other settings.
.. now will my music, apps and photos be saved too? Here are the three messages.. you can see that the iTunes settings/screen configuation is not like those in the tutorial in the link. There is nothing in my "summary" and no restore to back up shown at this point. So I am wary to proceed.

iOS 4.3.3 doesnt have the "Update your Software" tab so you will need to go to itunes and back up your iphone then restore your iphone and it will download the latest iphone software (6.1.4) if you dont want 6.1.4 download your current version and hit shift on your keyboard (alt if your on Mac I think) and click restore iphone and find your downloaded software 4.3.3 then download iOS 5 or 6 and do the samething after your phone boots up from restoring it to 4.3.3.

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

Just follow it, step by step. Is there something you don;t understand about it?
Just to make sure you have an iPad 2. does your iPad have a camera?
If it does not have a camera then it is an iPad 1 or First generation and cannot be updated past iOS 5.1.1.

Error 1603 while updating from iOS5.0 to iOS5.1 on iPhone4

When restarted my computer and reconnects my iPhone, it now prompts saying that iPhone in recovery mode and I must restore before it can be used with iTunes. I am very sure there's 2 backup copies in my (default designated) computer folder, with one being dated 12Mar (the day of updating). I browsed the computer folder while waiting for the downloads in iTunes.
However the backup folder is now empty!! and I can't restore to any previous backup, and my phone cannot be turn on. The iTunes restore button asked if I wanted to restore to original factory settings. How could this happen?!! My Recycle bin has this item "iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw".
Please advise. How can I retreive my previous phone backup, or just return to iOS5.0.1 with its data prior to the 5.1?

I have figured out. My bad. I searched at the wrong backup folder. Anyway, I just proceed with the restore and then when it completes, it will prompt to restore to previous backup. Apology for the inconvenience. Thanks all.

Unable to update from 4.2.1 to iOS 4.3.3

currently i am running iOS 4.2.1 on iphone4 and tired to update it to latest version iOS4.3.3 but after downloading update for 25 min, it says
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone "xxx iphone". the network connection timed out".
i have done numeros times and always its saying the same. i am sure there was no internet connection lost.

Basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

If you are getting a network timeout error then try temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed. If it's a different error then if you say what it is somebody might be able to help.
