Updating from Lightroom 2.3

I purchased Lightroom 2.3 last year and am just now being able to find the time to install/use it. In the ReadMe file on the installation disk it says to install the latest version but I am not sure what that version number is or how to install it. At what point did ver 2 change to ver 3 and how do I find the last version of ver 2 and install it?
Thanks

The last version of LR 2 was 2.7.

Daan, you can convert your Lightroom CC trial into a perpetual license install if you decide to buy the perpetual upgrade. There are instructions for doing that here:  Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Serialize Lightroom CC trial to activate as Lightroom 6
William, I see the same thing on B&H. Maybe they aren't selling the upgrades. But you can definitely buy an upgrade from Adobe using the link I posted above.

  • Update from Lightroom 4.2 to 4.3 "Publishing" did not transfer

After updating from Lightroom 4.2 to 4.3, none of the Publishing services such as Flickr were imported.  How do I import Publishing information from 4.2 to 4.3?  From a previous post, loading a current version of my catalog did fix other issues but did not fix this issue.

Double check your File>Plug-in Manager and make sure the Publishing Service for Flickr is enabled.

  • Updating from Lightroom 4 to Lightroom 5?

I upgraded from Lightroom 4 to Lightroom 5 in November. I then ignored Lightroom 5, left it on my desktop and continued downloading images into Lightroom 4. Now I would like to start using Lightroom 5, but of course all the images that I downloaded since November onto Lightroom 5 haven't come across. Is there any way of transferring these images imported onto LR 5. Or should I uninstall? Which I am unsure how to do.
    many thanks

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to reply,  but I probably should explain it better. In November I  already imported my Lightroom 4 catalogue  up to that date and  then I didn't open Lightroom 5 again. So what I am trying to do is pick up the shortfall from November until now, so should I still do as you suggest?

  • How do I update from lightroom 4 to lightroom 5

I have lightroom 4 installed onto my computer already.  Do I have to purchase lightroom 5 to update my lightroom?  Or is it a free update?

In Adobe language (and most other software vendors), major version changes are paid upgrades. Minor version changes are free updates.
Lightroom 4 to Lightroom 5 = paid upgrade
Lightroom 5.0 to Lightroom 5.4 = free update.

  • I updated from Lightroom 4 to 5 and now my library grid is black in each square. How do I fix this and prevent it in future?

when I upgraded from 4 to 5, each image in my library grid turned to black and the images disappeared. How do I fix this and prevent it from happening in the future?

I had the same problem. I had to take all my pictures out and restore my phone. Now my GPS will not work with my foursquare app. I try to talk to someone and god forbid if I put the phone between my shoulder and my cheek, I am forced to make a 3 way call or put someone on hold. I tried to hit home button but then I created a contact while talking to my mom. So far, this is my first iphone and I hate it as well but I'm suck with it at this point.

  • ERROR: "key not valid for use in specified state" when updating to Lightroom 5.6 in Win8.1

While doing a routine update from Lightroom 5.5 to v5.6 in Win 8.1, the installation halted at the start of the installation with the vague error message, "key not valid for use in specified state".  Although v5.5 was working just fine, the install routine deleted the v5.5 application files.  I rolled back to the previous system restore point (set just prior to the install) and recovered the executable files.  However, now the 5.5 files won't open the default catalog, none of the backups, or even create a new catalog.
As v5.x was purchased as an update to v4.x, I've tried to reinstall the original Lightroom v4.x app from the factory disk.  I get the same error.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks. Dan

I have a similar problem to Dan. while doing a routine upgrade from Lightroom 5.5 to 5.6 I got the
: "key not valid for use in specified state"
error and now Lightroom has completely disappeared. I've tried to uninstall, but there is nothing to uninstall. Going back to try to install the original 5.4 just results in the same error.
A problem may have been that I closed Lightroom when the upgrade started to download. It then re-opened again when the install was halfway through., I assumed that was an error and closed it. just after that the error first appeared in the installer.
I still had an older version of lightroom 4 installed. I've uninstalled it, and that didn't make any difference.
I've also tried removing anything in the registry left over from the old installs and that didn't help either.
    Any suggestions?

  • Creative Cloud Lightroom unable to update from 4.3 to 4.4

I am currently on a Mac and my Adobe Creative Cloud Application Manager (AAM) is having some issues.
I ran the update this morning when I heard that camera raw had been updated.  The updated completely successfully for camera raw.
AAM is showing that my current version of Lightroom is 4.4.  When launching the Lightroom application it is still showing that it is 4.3 and that the update for 4.4 is available.  I checked the application manager in OSX and it shows that the current version is indeed still 4.3.
Since I am using creative cloud and not stand alone products, I thought that the AAM would update my programs and why is the AAM not updating my Lightroom from 4.3 to 4.4.  Is it because camera raw updated and it is erroneously reporting that Lightroom has been updated?
I have never used a beta or RC version of lightroom on this computer, only final products and updates that have been provided with creative cloud.
Is Lightroom a program that you have to manually update outside of creative cloud application manager? That doesn't make sense to me since it is one of the programs included with the subscription and was installed with the application manager.
My hopes are that I'm not the only one having this issue and by posting this Adobe becomes aware of this.

Yes, same issue here. It is a bit annoying that Adobe has not integrated LR fully to their Creative Cloud package. I would have really hoped that the AAM would be the hub for installing and updating all Creative Cloud applications. The new Camera Raw update for Photoshop works ok from AAM.
And I have a faint memory of having recognition problems when LR was installed outside AAM...
It would be nice if someone from Adobe could report the official update procedures - even if it would mean doing a manual update outside the AAM. It seems to be next to impossible to find any documentation on this anywhere.

Ok I sorted it, by uninstalling and re-installing Photoshop

Using 6-7 year old software that's no longer receiving updates & was never designed to run on 10.10 is asking for trouble.   That said, try re-installing PS and installing Java SE6
    Java for OS X 2014-001
It might work.  But again it might not.
    Good luck!

  • Noise/grainy problems with images exported into photoshop cc from lightroom after photoshop & lightroom updates

I can't figure it out. After updating photoshop from the c6 version to the newer cc, and after also an update to lightroom through my creative cloud app, all photos exported now from lightroom into photoshop are extremely noisy and poor quality. I have adjusting settings I thought to back where I had them, but the images still don't look right.  Can you help me? Slammed with photos to edit for paid gigs! Panicking. These are raw files.

My interpretation of what the OP’s situation, that they are adjusting noise-reduction and sharpening to their liking in LR, the using Edit In PS (not Exporting despite using that word) into PS and what they see in PS is much nosier than what they saw in LR and are wondering why things look different between LR and PS.
My guess as to the problem is that they’re adjusting LR-Detail settings (Sharpness and NR) using Fit zoom instead of 1:1 zoom and then viewing the image in PS, perhaps at 1:1 zoom or even at Fit-to-Window zoom in PS, and that LR’s resampling and PS’s resampling of the image for fitting to the screen are a bit different and PS’s looks rougher.
Unless the OP is comparing LR and PS at 1:1 or 100% zoom, differences are to be expected.

  • Troubles opening files from Lightroom 5.3 to Photoshop sinds update.

I did the update to Lightroom 5.3 and i use Photoshop 13.0.6.
When i open an image from lightroom into Photoshop i always get the undeveloped image. How can i get the developped image into photoshop?

    I have the same problem.
    Further symptoms:
    - When opening the image as SmartObject in PS CC the slide for e.g. brightness can be moved. When moving the focus to an other slider, the previous changed values (brightness) is reset to 0.
    - it seems that the auto lens correction in LR5 causes the problem sometimes
I found out a workaround which seems to work:
    - close an app:
First I thought it was "Parallels" running. I quit Parallels and everything works fine. Next time the problem occured "Parallels" was not running. So I quit the app "Textwrangler". It solved the problem again. Yesterday I solved it quitting the MacOs-build in "Mail" app, because it was the only other app that was running.
If someone can tell me how the files are exactly taken to Photoshop CC from Lightroom I probably can search for reasons of this behavior.
    Any ideas?
Hope my workaround helps you too.
    Regards,
    Knut

  • Why doesn't Lightroom update from the CC App?

With every new update, I don't get it as "updatable" from the CC App; but as soon as I start LR, it asks for an update. I have then to "install" it again from the CC App  until next update where the procedure repeats then...

Run the cleaner tool and start from scratch. This is probably some version conflict in the installer database
