Updating glitched music in iPod.

I recently had to re-import some CD's using error corrections. They now play perfectly in iTunes, but the iPod will not re-sync with the new "glitch-free" versions. Any ideas?

Stephen,
Did you remove the glitchy tracks from your iTunes library?  If not, I would definitely start by doing that.  From there, double check to see how you have your iPod set up to sync music.  If may not be configured to sync the new tracks.

• Help! I can't download updates or music to iPod Mini.

Up to last night my iPod mini has worked perfectly. Now today, I added more songs to my library and unchecked a number of songs within the library and tried to update my iPod with the revised music listing.
However, no I get the following error message: "Attempting to copy to disk "iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." I subsequently retored the iPod, using the new updater, and reloaded iTunes etc, as well as rebooting the PC. Also changed USB ports...
Can anyone tell me what I need to do? I have a factory setting iPod with no music on and apparenly no way of putting any music on it!

• Updating new music to ipod

I have bought new music and videos on itunes and when I plug my usb into my pc my music update shows a warning that the music cannot be updated b/c my computer is not authorized to play the music...it is frustrating b/c I spent money on itunes and can't download the music onto my ipod.

Have you tried playing the purchased items using ITunes, whihc will authorize the computer and thus allow transfer to the IPOD.

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.

Try:
- Reset the dock
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available

Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto th nano. My laptop crashed whitch had all my new music, and im afraid if I sync my Ipod touch to the desktop with all my old songs, ill lose all my newer ones which I dont want to happen because I want them on my nano. Im sorry for the confusing topic im just so lost.

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
Now just synch the iPod.

• Major ipod problem, glitched music. help.

Ok, so here goes the story. 2nd gen ipod, 16GB. this just randomly happened- around a week after i homeshared with my friend and bought some new music.
THERE ARE NO DUPLICATES IN MY LIBRARY CONCERNING THIS MUSIC!!!
Around a week ago, I bought the album Moulin Rouge. I bought it with a gift card on he computer, then re-bought it on my ipod (a mistake, I know) It was completely normal, played normally, no problems. Far before this, I got a song from inception off of itunes, (we built our own world). It was also normal, save the fact that there was a sound at the beginning of it every time it played- like a clap. It started doubling before the moulin did.
The album and song are now behaving oddly. They are doubling themselves up. Like, when I have the Moulin album checked, two of each song pop up in the album. then when I uncheck the album, there still remains the whole album; so it seems there are two copies, one glitched stuck on my ipod, one normal from itunes. Moulin also has very weird ******** album art; the art is like a genius mix cover with another random album. Both of these symptoms are the same with the inception song.
And also, sometimes the moulin picks up random cover art from completely different albums, cover art I have added to songs I have gotten from limewire (NONE OF THE LIMEWIRE SONGS I GOT ARE GLITCHED OR BEHAVING ODDLY)
So, I have reset my iPod several times. I plugged my ipod in, wen under the music tab, and unchecked the 'Sync Music' box. So now the only music that is on my ipod is the weird, glitch music that doesn't seem to be originating from my iTunes library.
I don't even know if restoring my ipod will work with this. I have absolutely no ay of getting this music off my ipod. The 'regular' versions of the song + album are behaving fine, I can still listen to everything on my library.
Please help me. I need to get this iPod through a month or so more, and it just really annoys me to have something like this. I know I can simply create playlists and listen from there, but I kinda need to have my music organized.

You need to repost this in the iTunes discussion group.

For non-iTunes purchases you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

After updating my iTunes it no longer acknowledges that my iPod or iPhone is connected so I can't update my music.. I have followed all of these steps and everything is working fine but this new version of iTunes isn't recognizing my devices. Any advice?

I have the same problem. Running Win 8 64Bit, updated to latest ITunes and now will not recognize phone or pad. Followed all advice from Apple (uninstall/restart/re-install, all in exact order) ... nothing. Spoke with Apple tech and walked through the whole process, but no resolution. Tech was trying to be helpful but has no way of addressing issue.

- Try a reset. Nothing is lost:
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Can you find the apps using the Spotlight search on the iPod? Maybe you just can't find them
- If you can find them you can reset the screen layout by go to Settings>Genera.Reset>?Reset Screen Layout.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

• Harddisc crash, how update new computer with music from IPod

My hard disc is crashed, 4 GB music on this disc is lost.
With a new hard disc, is it possible to load music from Ipod to my new harddisc?
Rob

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved also it was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation as the iPod preferences are no longer in the location described. Also it won't transfer playlists or videos as far as I know. However if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
TuneJack Windows Only
iPod2PC Windows Only
iGadget Windows Only
iDump Windows Only
YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. Relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

• Updating Music to iPod Failed - Podcasts worked! Why?

I've been having trouble updating the music from my computer onto my ipod. I synced all my music and playlists (along with one podcast) to the ipod via iTunes, and it seemed to have worked sucessfully. At the bottom of the iPod summary tab in iTunes, it showed that I used up 9.22 GB of memory for music and 176.8 MB for one podcast. However, when I eject my ipod to have it for portable use, no songs or playlists show up on my ipod (as if the device was empty!). Yet, the podcast transferred sucessfully. ??? I reconnected my ipod to my computer, and I revisited the ipod summary tab in iTunes, and iTunes no longer read the 9.22 GB as music, but as "other" (marked in orange). Is there some corruption with the music here? Why can't I get my music onto my ipod sucessfully?

I too have experianced the same problem. I have synced music, it shows on the play list in iTunes, but when i eject the iPod it shows music as 0. I have removed and reinstalled iTunes software and restored the iPod on several occasions over the past 3 days. I have run out of ideas, I don't know what else to try - any suggestions?

• Why doesnt my library of songs copy into my ipod when updating new music?

I just updated and restored my ipod, but when copying my library into my ipod, although itunes shows each song successfully loading, only the first song of my library is present in my ipod when finished updating.

Sounds like a corrupt file somewhere on the ipod maybe. Try this...
Put the ipod into "Disk Mode" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651 THEN connect it to the PC and restore it again with the latest ipod updater 06-28-2006
