Updating Golive

Hello,
I'm trying to update my Golive 6 (which is my own registered copy), from 6.0 to 6.0.1...I'm getting the download from Adobe onto my computer, but it doesn't automatically install into Golive.
I updated PS 7 the other day with no problem whatsoever, but I can't seem to get the update into GL. I had it there once before, but for some reason I can't get it installed again. The "About Golive" still says "Golive 6.0. I extracted the files that downloaded and it shows about 13 files. The "Read Me" says to click on the Update Installer file but I don't see one there that says that.
Here are the files that I get:

I tried the Launch.exe and it just says that "Adobe GoLive 6.0.1 Setup has already been run on this installation of Adobe GoLive 6.0.
I've been trying this for two days and I can't seem to get it working.

Golive crashes with Windows 7 Pro-64

I just had to replace my 8 year old Dell desktop running windows xp with an new HP HPE515t running windows 7 professional-64.
The new system has 6GB of RAM, an Intel I5-760 processor and Nvidia GEForce 315 graphics card.
I installed XP mode/ virtual machine/ update and installed my Creative Suite app's in XP mode.
I was prompted to update Golive when I first opened it up which I did but I keep getting an
error message in Golive ver. 7.0.2. stating that the program ran out of virtual memory and then the program closes.
I bumped up the virtual memory to 3000MB and still get the message.
I really need to do some updates on our web site but am unable to do anything the way things are now.
Any idea how I can fix this problem?

The error was from Golive;
"Adobe Golive CS
The application ran out of virtual memory, Please close some windows to free memory"

The problem occurs whenever I try to change the background image of my home page.
I opened another page with the same background and I was able to make the change without any difficulty.
Do you think it could be an issue witht the page I'm working on?

Can't update CS2 to 8.0.1

I've been trying to update GoLive CS2 (8.0.0) to 8.0.1. On Win XP Pro. I've tried using Adobe Updater and manually downloading the updater. Whenever I run the update program I get an error saying "Setup cannot locate Adobe GoLive. Please reinstall from CD in the correct location." and then it quits. GoLive is exactly where the installer disc put it. It's on the C: drive in the Program Files/Adobe/Adobe GoLive CS2 folder. I tried to put the updater in the Adobe folder and the Adobe GoLive CS2 folder. Didn't make a difference. I move the GoLive folder directly into the Program Files folder. Didn't help. Any ideas?

Hello again! I wanted to give you an update! I manually deleted all programs associated w/iTunes-couldn't delete iCloud though. I had to go into my download folder-windows 7 professional-and manually delete the iTunes update, then restart my computer. After that I then downloaded the program from iTunes vs. the update installer and installed it that way & voila! Thanks for your advice though!

Golive CS2 crashing with SFTP while synchronizing with server

I'm using latest Update Golive CS2 (8.01) with SFTP.
Sometimes Golive crashes while synchronizing with the server (publish-server -> Synchronize all; Sorry, can't remember the correct english context menue entry because i'm runnig german version).
The error message box says:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer overrun detected
Program: P:\Adobe\Adobe Golive CS2\GoLive.exe
An buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated."
If i use FTP, all is running fine.
Deleting the Golive preferences did not result in any effort.
On these servers runnig SFTP i cannot switch back to FTP because of privacy/confidentional reasons.

I started having this exact same problem yesterday. I never had it before and nothing had changed on my system prior to the problem starting (no Windows updates, or others). Mine is also GoLive CS2. I have used it every since I purchased it direct from Adobe while it was still the "current version". And likewise, it happens when using SFTP for transfer.
Thinking maybe a program file had become corrupted, I ran the installation over and selected "repair". It completed without issue. And I reactivated without any problem. But the issue still exists.
Interestingly, certain files trigger it every time while it seems random otherwise. One file that will do it every time is a small gif image in one site. I recreated that image from scratch and it still does it.

Upgrade path question...

I've been using golive 6 and in about a month I'm planning to upgrade...I'm seeing upgrades to golive 9 (which i read here has its problems), CS2 which I'm assuming I can update golive 6 to, and then the alternative that the Adobe site offers/suggests, switch to Dreamweaver...
I haven't followed all the changes and rumor...maybe you can help me here...is golive a dead end now? Is Adobe going to eventually just abandon it for DW?...
Also, I'll be updating my other adobe software to CS3 for photoshop, illustrator, and indesign...so nice integration between Golive CS2 or DW would be a goal...
Please don't shoot me if this isn't the place to ask, it just seems you guys know everything when I come with a question about me being lost and confused in golive...
oh, I did watch the little video presentation about DW on the Adobe site...i didn't feel totally lost looking at the examples there...I do wonder if DW will just be so new that'll i'll be totally lost for while...I've read of some complaints from golive users in the past...
I mean, can you tell me if DW has any 'major' shortcoming?...I'm not familiar with it...just know about golive 5 and 6 which wasn't too complicated and allowed me to do a website 'almost' pain free...
thanks for any advice/experience/tips you can pass along...I mean I could spend near $200 for the CS2 update or for $400 just buy DW...just don't want to waste money on an update if it doesn't make sense/cents...

passive and not passive, generally with about the same results. It
always takes for than one try to upload. If there are a lot of
files to upload, it is almost guaranteed to take four or five
attempts before all files are uploaded. Is this just me? Is my
Karma bad. Have aliens polluted my computer?

Can NOT update my website (Golive 4)

Im a Mac user. My server is itsamac is golive 4 just too old? or is it something else

What do you mean by you can't update your website? Can you not connect to the server via FTP? Can you connect but not upload files?

GoLive Crashing when trying to update a Component!!! Help

Anyone have any ideas on why this would be happening??? The Component I am trying to update is "Navbar.html" ... the Update box comes up like it is supposed to .. but then I get the "GoLive has encountered a problem and must shut down .... "
This is getting SO frustrating!!!
Any help would be apprecitated!

Does it seem to be happening on the first page it tries to update? Or, can you tell if it's crashing while trying to update a certain page? That usually means GoLive is running into something it doesn't understand (like a syntax error in either the Component or one of the pages it's trying to update). Not always the case, but it's probably the best thing to look for.

Mac 10.5.7 update has made golive 9 stop rendering css in layout view

Has any one else on Mac with the mac 10.5.7 update have new issues with golive 9 not rendering css in layout view. It works still in pdf preview and if I boot to 10.5.6 all is normal again. Also in the live rendering engine it works as well...just not in layout view- its very disconcerting. Any workarounds? anyone else with this issue?

I have been using an external CSS file simply for defining font styles
site wide. The rendering of them on screen in layout view is now just
the plain default font prior to showing the CSS altered version of it.
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you mean here. You mean it shows your text in the default and *then* renders it correctly using the CSS after a delay?
I tried torching the prefs...perhaps I did the wrong file...what file is to be deleted?
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe GoLive 9.0 Prefs
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/GoLive/Settings9 (a folder)
~/Library/Preferences/com.Adobe.GoLive.plist
Move them out to, say, the Desktop. If they are not the cause of the problem, put them back replacing the newly-created versions.
I cloned my os prior to the update and all was fine. Rebooting to clone
css renders normal...but in 10.5.7 its not rendering in layout view.
I'm not seeing the same thing here with GL9/OS X 10.5.7, so it may be its something specific to your particular update. You might also want to consider doing a re-import of the site to recreate the site file and see if that helps.

I have been trying to update to 6.0.1 for weeks. No success. I found the log.gz file as you suggested and opened in wordpad but the file is either encrypted or corrupt. The date and time of the file is when i originally installed InDesign. Nothing has been added either today or on previous attempts to update.

Latest Tiger Java update still safe for Golive 8 ?

Hi, I'm just asking before letting the Mac OS Tiger software update for older iMac Intel run, if it is still safe for Golive 8. Message says that with Java 6, J2SE 1.4.2 will be disabled. I have no idea if Golive uses that or not. Thanks for any info!

GoLive CS2 (version 8) required JRE 1.4.1 so if you have been using 1.4.2, then there probably should not be an issue.
If you are worried about each OS update breaking the functionality of GoLive or any other app, consider a mirror/backup of your system drive that you can fall back on. It is good to have a backup of your system anyway. Computers are not immune from blowing up and causing headaches.

if the upgrade to GL9 is not really an upgrade, what will the GL9 update be?
from what others are saying about GL9 it would seem that the best way to update/upgrade is to go back to CS2

Thysge's problem is mine also. I can save the download to disk but the install shield returns an error message "can not update this version".
I am having other problems that I hope the update can fix but...
Should the install wizard be in a special folder or?
