Updating Graphics

For some reason my InDesigns CS5 doesn't automatically update the graphics the second time I update them. This is what happens:
I click on the image in InDesign and choose to edit original.
I edit my image and then save.
I go back to InDesign and it updates without me telling it to do so.
Now, if I leave my edited image open in photoshop, and make another change, it won't automatically update. It use to do so in previous versions of InDesign.  The only way to get it to always update is to repeatedly click on edit image in Indesign.
Thanks!

Expected behavior. And I honestly don't remember it working any other way, but my memory isn't all it once was.

  • Does anyone know how to save / preserve image maps when updating graphics?

    Hello all,
I'm currently working on a RH7 HTML project, which I've designed to be used in support of a software application.
Some of the application's dialogue boxes have quite complex multi-tabbed GUIs, so when it comes to describing their functionality, you often end up with a long list below the graphic image. What this means of course, is that the user is forever scrolling up and down to make reference between the GUI and the explanatory text.
I hit upon an idea I'd used previously, whereby I created popups to multiple image map hotspots. It works like a dream and the client and users really like the concept - but there's a snag (apparently).
Because the application is still in development. some of those GUIs are (and will continue to) change. No problem with that either - until I try and insert the updated graphic. Poof !! All my hotspots disappear . . .
Surely I'm not alone in trying this approach and there must be some way of preserving the hotspots?
    Any suggestions?
Bob (in a UK time zone)

    Hi there
It sounds like you are using the standard methods of inserting an image. Don't do that!
All you need to do in these cases is to use Windows Explorer to save the updated image using the same file name and replacing the former image. When you do this your other data will remain intact. If the new image is a different size, just right-click it inside the RoboHelp HTML editor and choose Reset Size. You also may need to tweak your hotspots if things shifted some.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Why update(Graphics g) in JPanel is not called?

    Hi,
I have Overridden the following two functions in a JPanel:
    1. void paint(Graphics g)
    2. void update(Graphics g)
in order to define my own content in the JPanel. As far as I know that override update() by the following code:
    public void update(Graphics g)
    System.out.println("update is called");
         paint(g);
the original content will not be cleared when it is repainted.
However, I find that update() has never been called. And the content is cleared to its default background color before my defined content is painted. it leads to flashing of the screen.
can anyone tell me why update() is not called??
    Thank you,
    FS

    Hi,
YOu should read the following article that explains the differences between AWT and Swing painting.
    http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/painting/index.html
The article makes one important distinction between the two:
This means that for Swing components, update() is never invoked.

  • Cannot update Graphics Driver

I have an HP Envy 4 1030-us.  Intel Graphics HD 4000.  I have even gone to Intel's forums for help.
    1) If I try to install the updated graphics driver - fails
    2) Uninstall old graphics driver, per Intel forum advice, restart computer, on restart old driver installs automatically.
    3) Uninstall old graphics driver, try to install updated driver, fails, restart, on restart old driver installs uatomatically.
Please don't suggest I have the wrong driver.  Any other suggestions warmly welcomed.

    Hi @DavidENJ ,
Thank you for your inquiry, I will do my best to assist you.
I understand that you are unable to install the updated driver for the   Intel Graphics HD 4000. Intel advised you to uninstall the driver and then restart before installing the new driver but you were unsuccessful.
I would try deleting the driver not uninstalling.  Once deleted it cannot reinstall it as it is no longer there.
The latest supported driver for Windows 7  and your notebook is  sp58046.exe   version 8.15.10.2712.
If you are trying to install a driver from the Intel website, it  may or may not work correctly.   Downloading or Updating Software and Drivers for HP Computers.
If you are still having an issue with installing the driver, try installing it in safe mode with networking.  Entering Safe Mode (Windows 7)
    I hope this helps.

  • Updating Graphic from which MCs are made nukes MCs.

    Flash CS5
I have a graphic that has been imported to lib, it features spots each with a line of text, all converted to path beforehand. I drag drop to stage and resize smaller. I then have made movie clips of each spot and its associated text .
I now realise the  text is too small on stage
I redraw the graphic at source with larger text and save it by the same name. Import it to lib choosing to replace item. The existing artwork on my stage vanishes and an edit undo wont bring it back. Even the stage seems to change size.
    I try a simple experiment.
File new (let this be file#1) and make a green circle, convert it to graphic, call it greencircle and set it to x 0 y0
Copy this graphic from lib to clipboard
File new (let this be file#2) and paste this greencircle to lib, drag drop to stage and make it red, set it to x0 y0
Make it a movieclip call it redcircle
Return to file #1 and make the green circle purple.
Copy paste the graphic greencircle to lib of file #2, chose replace existing.
    The red circle vanishes.
when I try that again the red circle goes  purple. Twice though before it vanished, even if the red circle was made a graphic not an MC.
I am sure graphics have updated on stage when updated in libs, so why the vanishing act, which I was able to replicate initially with a simple test but now I cant, the graphic that matters though still refuses to update. If I paste the small text graphic into a new files lib and drag drop to stage, then paste into that lib the updated graphic, selecting update, it updates on stage.
    Envirographics

Try saving your xfl to fla and making the changes you need, then changing it back.  I think you get into a wonky situation with xfl where the directories created to represent your library assets get into a very strange state. And consider using version control.

Sounds just like what was happening with my Alum MB. I took it in and they replaced my battery. It seems to be ok now. I don't know what it is, but my battery was fine before 10.5.6 and the same timeframe of the firmware updates when they came out.
My battery health was jumping around but was fine before all of this happened. Unfortunately at 381 cycles I don't think you have much chance of getting the battery for free. Perhaps you can complain about the battery saying it was fine until 10.5.6 or whatever. Not sure when your computer was made, but perhaps you are eligible for this program: http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/

  • Update Graphics Driver on Satellite L55-A

    Hi All,
I want to update Toshiba's L55-A5385 Graphics Driver. I have already updated Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 Display Adapter
Driver from Device manager but i expected it will update to version latest vesion 15.33.35.64.4176 (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=Intel+HD+Graphics+4000 ) but i'm still having 10.18.10.3282
version. Please suggest me How can i update Graphics Driver.
Also when i connect my Laptop to TV using HDMI cable it looses quality and also have small glitches. Please suggest How can i get best quality through HDMI cable and is this problem relates to Graphics Driver update?
    My laptop configuration is
    Model : Satellite L55-A
    Processor : Intel Core i5 3337U CPU @ 1.80GHz
    RAM : 6 GB DDR3
    GPU : Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
    OS : Windows 8.1 64 bit
    Thank You
    Ketan

Download and install the latest driver from Intel's site. Don't use the update driver feature in device manager, it rarely updates the driver of the device.
In regards to hooking it up to your TV, make sure your HDMI cable is Gold plated not the regular silver coated cables. If the one your using is working fine with say, a blu-ray player, update the driver first and try comparing the results.

  • Updating graphics card on desktop

Updating Graphics Card:  I have what was sold as a HP performance desktop computer about 3 years ago. With a AMD FX-6100 processor and a 2MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 530 graphics card. No intergrated graphics that I know of. Being interested in CG animation it soon became obvious that graphics card was to weak for my purposes. So recently I have tried to update with 3 NVIDIA cards. The first two being 'T - Cards' and now I have a GeForce GT 740 2MB as a expensive paper weight. I have read every tutorial on updating graphics cards to no avail. Now I read on this forum since my BIOS was created a year before I bought the computer and hasn't been updated since by HP I'm stuck with what came on the machine. SOME PERFORMANCE MACHINE.  I also see where if AMD had a BIOS update it could screw up my system restore. This is my 3rd HP but I sing the praises no more.

Dave the U.S. Army trained me in electronics with tube carrier equipment way back in the day. Then I went to work as a electrician on nuclear submarines many times working in computer switching  cabinets which no doubt cost more then my first house. So a desktop doesn't exacty intimidate me. In reference to the Zotac card I have no idea what DOA means.  I have a Blender friend in Germany who bought his computer about the same time she bought mine. With a AMD processor and motherboard. His first update was a GFX 680 I believe with no problems. Then since he wants to animate he bought a Nvidia Titan. Once again no problem and Windows 7 went looking for driver updates.  Smooth as silk and he simply can't understand why I'm having a problem.  A problem which has played out in private e-mails and not on the Blender Forum. If I understand your post correctly the BIOS could be updated if HP wanted to.  And, there lies the problem. And, the reason I would not recommend a HP to anyone interested in CG Graphics. While my German buddy is updating graphics cards at will with a AMD motherboard and processor I'm stuck with this.  It's laughable in a way. Here I have one of the most popular computers in America and he has whatever they have in Germany. I'll take what he has quite frankly. Performance computers my ass. Once again thanks for your interest.

  • Bios Update/ Graphics Card

Hello I am having problems finding the bios update (download) for my computer, I looked all around the "hp" website and I can't find any downloads for bios. I recently re-installed and updated my graphics card because it wouldn't run hardware acceleration or any games that I tryed to start up, so now everytime I start up my computer it freezes while booting, but once I go into safemode and disable my Nvidia GeForce 7350 Le my computer boots up fine but my graphics card won't run, I have searched up over the internet for this problem and what I came across is that I need a bios update for my updated graphics card to work properly. My current bios is {Phoenix Technologies, LTD 5.08, (12/ 8/2006)} what I am looking for is the download link for {P5LP-LE Motherboard BIOS Update, Version:5.23, (Aug 26, 2011)}. I have read that you can only get the update from the "hp" website, and I can't find it. If anyone could help I would gladly apprectiate it, also if you think i'm doing somthing wrong or taking the wrong steps into fixing this problem please let me know, Thank You!!
    This question was solved.

When you click on download, you get 2 options namely.
    1. Use HP Download and Install Assistant (Recommended)
    2. Download only.
When you click on the 2nd option, download only the file will start downloading.
I tried from my end and it worked fine.
Please try from a different web browser and check.

  • Updating graphics card driver for G5350uk

    Hi
We have a G5350uk desktop. Serial Number:   [edited Serial Number by Moderator]  Product Number:   XS612EA.  Its running 64bit windows7 and internet explorer 8, which is no longer compatible with a number of web pages so we wanted to upgrade to ie11.
Except we can't upgrade because we don't have service pack 1 installed.  Service Pack1 can't be installed because our graphics card driver is one of those that stops the windows update from functioning properly and detecting Service Pack 1.
So I tried to upgrade the device driver, but its says its the most current one, so I loaded the Intel untility which told me I needed to source the driver from the manufacturer.
So I came to the G5350 support page and allowed it to scan my PC.  I get then get into a loop with the annoying message pasted below.
HP was unable to verify that you have this product, but did find other products.

Which is all very frustrating as i'm clearly searching for the right thing, the web site says it can't find what I'm looking for but then tells me its found exactly what I'm looking for!  When I select the option suggested it just goes back around in the same loop.
I stil don't have an updated graphics card driver to get around the Service Pack installation issue and so still can't look at an increasing number of websites.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks

    Mazrak, welcome to the forum.
This is the only driver that is available for your Integrated Video.  You can't use retail versions of drivers for HP's Integrated Video.
I suggest uninstalling the current driver by going into Control Panel / Device Manager / Display adapters.  Right click on your adapter and select "Uninstall".  Then, you can install the driver that I provided and reboot.  This may solve your problem if a glitch has occurred.

  • Firefox will not launch, but shows in task manager, after updating graphics drivers to AMD's 13.1.

    Hi,
After updating to the AMD 13.1 drivers, on my 5770, Firefox will not launch; it does, however, show in the task manager. I should note that it will start in Windows safe mode; when I had it open in safe mode, I used that time to disable all plugins, add-ons, extensions, and created a new profile. This did not help. I also tried launching Firefox in to its safe mode, and had no luck with this either.
I experienced this problem once before, when trying to update to a previous version. I believe I was moving from 12.1 to 12.4, but I'm not 100% sure of that. Ultimately, my solution then was to retrograde back to my previous driver. The steps mentioned in the previous paragraph did not help at that time, not did a complete reinstall.
15 years of computer repair experience, and this has me baffled.
Thank you to anyone who might be able to help.
    Possibly relevant specs.

    AMD Phenom II x4

AMD 5770 graphics, running Catalyst 13.1

By any chance, did you disable Firefox's use of hardware graphics acceleration? To avoid a round-trip through Windows Safe Mode, you could try adding these to your prefs.js file while Firefox is closed.
To quickly open the folder with the correct prefs.js file, you can use
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Because Firefox may overwrite change to this file at shutdown, you should edit it after closing Firefox and allowing a few moments for Firefox to finish updates to the files.
These are the preferences I think are most relevant:
    user_pref("gfx.content.azure.enabled", false);
    user_pref("gfx.direct2d.disabled", true);
    Does that make any difference?

    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012)
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
    I've used 192.8 GB
Operating System: 10.10.1 (14B25) YOSEMITE UPDATE
I've been experiencing problems with my Macbook Pro shortly after the two year mark of when I've purchased it. There are a few things that are going on. I recently verified my Macintosh HD disk through disk utility and it stated in red that there was an incorrect number of file hard links & then error: This disk needs to be repaired and to restart and then press "R". However, everything before that seemed to have passed. I have everything backed up on an external hard drive and use the time machine frequently. Another thing that has been happening, usually when I'm opening one my adobe programs, is that my screen will go white for a minute along with unidentifiable pink glitchy shapes that don't move. My computer has not been running like it used to and is running slow, freezing, and periodically going white --- as I just mentioned before. I just know that something isn't it right. I've been having to restart my computer by manually pressing the power button more than I've ever had over the past two years. I always work on my computer on a hard surface in a cool area & my fans seem to behaving okay. I also recently installed the Yosemite update for the mac sometime during this past November too and noticed slower running speed, more freezing, and longer times to boot up afterwards. Please speak up if you're experiencing problems with your 2012 Macbook pro too and especially after downloading the Yosemite upgrade. I don't see how it's in any way acceptable that I should have to deal with issues pertaining to my graphics card. Sorry for this post being a little all over the place.

    Hello brousch,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see that your Mac is spontaneously restarting whenever you see a certain animation on your screen.  This indicates your Mac is getting a kernel panic caused by that animation.  If you'd like to learn more about kernel panics, including how to troublshoot them, please take a look at the information in the link below.

  • How to update graphics card drivers for late 2008 macbook pro with Nvidia 9600m GT?

Can anybody help me update the drivers for my 9600m GT graphics card for my Late 2008 Macbook pro? I am running OS X Lion 10.7.5 with a Windows 7 partition. I have tried finding support on Nvidia's website, but at least for the 9600m GT, it isn't supported for my operating system. Would I have to update it from my Windows side? And if so, would the update apply to my OS X side as well? I have a little computer knowledge, but nothing indepth.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
In OS X, Apple provides the GPU drivers and you cannot update them from NVIDIA. They are updated with each OS X update, so you are running the most recent drivers for your OS X version. OS X Mountain Lion and Mavericks have got more recent GPU drivers, but it's not worth upgrading unless you need newer drivers for an app (I highly doubt this).
However, you can update the GPU drivers in Windows, and you should do it to get the best performance. You can download them from the NVIDIA site > http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us Note that drivers are only applied in the operating system you are installing them, so they will not be installed in OS X

  • Since upgrading to FF 4, I have constant crashes (updating graphics drivers did not help). now all my bookmarks are gone. When I try to restore them, I get error message: "Unable to process the backup file".

Since I "upgraded" to FF 4, I have constant crashes (I tried updating my graphics drivers--it did not help) and now all of my bookmarks have disappeared. When I try to restore them, I get this error message "Unable to process the backup file". I have lost years of bookmarks...please help.
I am using Windows XP, SP 3 if that matters.

I am also unable to restore any of the backups of the bookmarks, both automatic backups and two backups that I created manually. Since I was able to restore backups before, and since no changes have occurred to these backup files, the problem must be with Firefox.
Right before my bookmarks disappeared, FF crashed and I accidentally started FF 3.5. When I saw what I did, I ended the Firefox process and started FF 4. That's when all my bookmarks were gone and I discovered I couldn't retrieve any backups. I did note that an add-on was updated when I restarted FF. Maybe that's the problem. Does FF have a Safe mode?

  • Shockwave player updates: graphics card compatibility problems?

I've recently had a new problem reported to me in the Driveway Visualiser, a piece of Shockwave 3D content that I've been maintaining since we built it in 2008.  I'm wondering if  recent updates to the Shockwave Plugin (e.g. 11.5.8.612) may be contributing to this...
          www.marshalls.co.uk/transform/driveway_visualiser/dv.asp
So I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had any new problems affecting old content. I tried reverting the dcr file to last year's version but the same problem still occurs, so it doesn't seem to be a recently-added bug in my code.  I think it could be either a compatibility problem between the graphics card and the plugin, or between the Director 11.0 dcr and the Shockwave 11.5 web player.
Because we need the DirectImage Xtra, it's Windows only.  For  each different computer that we've tested, the Driveway Visualiser (DV) will either always  work or always fail on that machine - regardless of whether IE or  Firefox is used.  All the test machines have DirectX 9.0c; all are  running Win XP SP3 apart from one laptop with SP2 and Intel 965 chipset  on which the DV fails.  Only one has Director (11.0) installed, and on  that the DV always works.  The problem is much more common on laptops,  so we reckon that Shockwave's ability to interface with the various  graphics cards might be the reason why it's not getting the image  property of a 3D cast member.
    So here's what's actually happening:
When you get to step 4 of the DV, after you've drawn round the shape of your driveway, it tries to grab the image of a 3D cast member referred to by the  variable gWorldMember, and fails with the "four parameters expected" error message, on  this line of code...
          zoomAfterImage.copyPixels(gWorldMember.image, zoomAfterImage.rect, gWorldMember.image.rect)
gWorldMember.image is being returned as <image:0> (not a usuable  image) and so its rect property does not exist, hence the crash.  This  line of code crashes whether or not there's a sprite of the relevant 3D  member on the stage at the time.  The member's defaultRect has been  temporarily changed so we can grab a 1024x1024 image off it.  Using  copyPixels, this image is resized down to the size of the zoomAfterImage  image variable (again 450x450).  This gives us an image at the original  size of 450x450, but with a softer image quality than if we'd grabbed  it from the 3D member at that size.
Is anyone suffering similar problems or aware of what Adobe has been changing in the player?  At the moment I just don't see how I can fix this by changing my code...

I had wondered if there was a clash between the Director 11.0 dcr and the Shockwave 11.5 player, so I downloaded the Director 11.5 trial and re-published it using that.
It didn't make any difference, so I'm left with my original suspicion that Shockwave is failing to interface with certain graphics hardware setups via directX, when it tries to read the image property of a 3D cast member.
