Updating I POD 5th Generaion

After having created a play list and importing cd I plugged i-pod into computer and was greeted with a 'pop up' which read " Engine Start" was not copied to the i-pod because it could not be found. I had the option of pressing "ok" which i did. The up dating started and and finished as normal.I also had the option of ticking the box marked "do not warn me again" or words to that effect.
Can anyone tell me what this is about
Many thanks

Try:
- Disconnect iPod and reboot the computer
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

After restoring to factory settings/new iPod you will then have to restore from backup
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How to update i-Pod Touch version 3.1.3 to iOS 4.0 ?

I phoned Apple Support asking for help but they said that to update i-Pod Touch version 3.1.3 to iOS 4.0. is not possible. Are they right?
    Thank you.

What model iPod Touch do you have? If it is a first generation then 3.1.3 is the highest level it can run.

I-tunes is on a Windows Computer. How do I update my I-pod from 4.2.1? My I-pod has been using this version for ovew a year, while all the apps are moving on.

Scrool down to the update using iTunes section
If it tells you it is up-to-date then you have a 2nd generation iPod Touch in which case you have the most current iOS for your device.

  • I am having Issues after updating iPod Touch 5th Gen to version 8.1.2.  My iPod now won't finish syncing...it gets stuck at applying updates...

I just did the update on my iPod touch 5th gen to version 8.1.2 and now it gets stuck in sync on applying changes.  I am afraid to reset my iPod as the last time I had an iPod and needed to be reset the iPod never came back to life.

  • TS1425 How to delete duplicates on my I-pod 5th gen.

After numerous times trying to delete dupicates on my 5th gen. i-pod, i'ts still not resonding

If the music works like photos, you can not delete those placed on the iPad via iTunes sync...only those downloaded directly. So, delete from the download and not those you placed there by sync using Carolyn's suggestion.
This took some effort to figure out what was going on when placing photos on and then syncing photos, including some dups, from iTunes.
Hope it works the same for music.

  • I tunes keeps 'not responding' when updating i pod

i have tried god knows how many times tonight to update my i pod.
it's the first time i have went to update the i pod since i downloaded the newest version of i tunes.
every time i plug my i pod in, it says it's updating and not to disconnect, then i tunes just stops working, stops responding. the i pod still says it's updating.
how the h ell do i update my i pod without i tunes screwing up?
is there any way to revert to the last version of i tunes? or am i stuck with this crappy version (i didn't like it before it stopped responding, the only thing i liked was the fact it's now a blue colour, and not green)
note to apple... maybe you should stop upgrading the software if it refuses to work.
i've not paid money for an i pod i can't use. apple of course, will refuse to listen, cos they've already got my money.

Lets see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?

  • Corrupted i-pod 5th Gen. It all depresses me! :(

Hi, um my names Michael and well, I didn't think this would ever happen to me but it did. My i-pod is corrupted and I haven't used it in about 2 months. Don't think I've just been sitting here doing nothing. I've called support but all they advised me was to return it and redeem a newer one. They could'nt resolve my problem. I would return it but I don't have a creidt card, and yes I've asked my parents but they think im crazy to allow there creidt number on the internet, you know old people. SO I PLEA! would someone kind enough help me with my problem. I connect it and of course it reads "do not disconnect" While it reads it tells me I have a corrupt I-pod to restore it. I did, but it tells me the same thing, again, and again. Trust me, I've done it enough times to know it dosen't work. I keep going in circles! SO PLEASE HELP ME. I can't live without music! I do belive in returning favors, so if you can help me, if theres any way I can help you, I will with all do respect! IF theres anything you can do, to advise me, please do, I need all the help I can get. -Thank you very, very much
    -Michael

    Here, maybe try this:
1:(optional) Check your iPod by reseting it and when the apple logo first appears hold the middle select button and the rewind button to enter a diagnostic mode. Then press the menu button to enter manual testing. Scroll down to IO and press select, then select the hard disk option, then select the hard disk specs option. Read the data to check your hard disk is detected as the correct size (30Gb in my case), if it isn't then reset the iPod and repeat this step until the hard disk detects as the correct size.
2:Reset your iPod, as the apple logo appears hold down the middle select button and the play button, it will then boot to a screen with a tick in the middle and it will say Disk Mode along the top of the screen.
3: Now load iTunes and then plug the iPod into your computer and let it detect. iTunes should detect your iPod though it may not properly detect it. If iTunes doesn't detect an iPod AT ALL then reset your iPod and repeat steps 2 & 3 until it does.
4: Now your iTunes should display your iPod or an iPod just call IPOD, click on your iPod and restore, you can use the same version software or update - it doesn't matter. Even if your iPod normally recieves an error when retoring it SHOULD restore as long as you're in disk mode. When it is done restoring DO NOT UNPLUG THE IPOD, just let iTunes redetect it.
5: Now go to My Computer and right click on your iPod (could be called Removable Disk and go to properties. Now click on the tools tab and run Scandisk (Check Disk). In the scandisk box that opens tick both check boxes (fix automatically and surface scan) and click run, this will take a while but when it's done go to iTunes and eject the iPod, unplug it from the computer, and reset it.
You have just fixed your iPod.

  • I pod 5th generation wont turn on or connect to computer.

My ipod 5th generation with the latest update suddenly stopped working over night. It will not power on or connect to the computer what so ever. There is no physical damage at all that would indicate fall damage what so ever. I went to bead last night after using it and at the time it had no problems, however after i woke up and went to go check it nothing would work. It looked as if it was powered off. I could not turn it on with the on button, nor by plugging it in. I then connected it to the computer with about 5 differient chargers that all work on my brothers ipod and the computer could not detect my ipod but had no problem my brothers. It is also a replacement ipod from apple because my first ipod the battery just couldent hold a charge so they replaced it free of cost, However i do believe that it was referbished and not a brand new one if that has anything to do with this problem. What i want to know is can i fix it on my own? is it physical or has programing failed on it? And if i cant fix it what can i do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable

  • Updated iPod touch 5th generation to IOS7, but it fails to activate.

In order to update my iPod, I had to restore it prior to the update. It finished updating and took me through the set-up. After connecting to my wifi, it leads me to a screen with the message:
"Your iPod touch could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting your iPod touch to iTunes to activate it or try again in a couple of minutes."
Then it continues on to say contact apple support if the problem persists. I've been clicking "try again" every 5 minutes for the past 2 hours with still no success, I also connected it to iTunes and the error message "We could not complete your iTune store request. The network connection was reset" comes up. I've clicked on the iTune store tab and it can connect to the store perfectly and I can view my account and purchase apps, this error only comes up in the tab where my iPod name shows. My connection is good, I can connect to the internet perfectly and load up web pages pretty quick, so I'm guessing there's something wrong with my iPod.
I've checked these forums and some people seem to have the same issue, I've yet to see an answer to help. Does anyone know whether this is an issue with my iPod? iTunes? or just the servers? I mean, it's been 2 hours.

I have the same problem! Using iTunes I get the same error, trying to active via wifi on my iPod (different network) I get the same thing!

    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • How to text someone else on the I pod 5th gene.?

I purchased a 16gb iPod and I set it up. It asked me to create a number so I could most likely text someone else. I soon realized that it did not have the camera so I switched it out for a 32gb. When I set that I pod up I put the Apple ID on that new I pod but it never asked for the create a number so I assumed it was in the Apple ID account, but then I tried to text someone with internet access; it highlighted the persons name in red so I tapped it and it said that it was not registered with I message. Please help me so I can text my family and friends with my I pod.

The Apple Messages app will only receive and send to other iPod touches. iPhone or iPads with the Messages app.

  • Unable to Update or Restore 5th Gen Ipod

I just bought a new ipod and have been unable to transfer music from my g5 to the ipod.
From itunes, under my ipod, it shows the playlists and all of the songs in the playlists are greyed out. It shows the capacity that the songs are on my ipod, but I can not see/play them on the ipod.
I followed the 5 R's, and am unable to do Restore.
From the itunes summary screen, the Update and Restore buttons are both greyed out, and it says only Macintosh-formatted ipods can be updated.
From the Ipod > Settings > About > Format - The format shows as Windows, and I am unable to switch to mac.
I have the latest versions of Tiger and itunes.
    Thanks

try opening Disk Utility (with your iPod plugged in) and repair disk permissions on both the iPod and your main hard drive.
