Updating iphone OS without loosing my apps

Hello!
A newbie wants to know;
I am currently trying to update to the new OS on my iphone 3gs. The problem is that when i press the update button in itunes, it says that i have paid items on my phone that i have to transfer to the phone before updating.. i am guessing this is the apps i paid for?..
But i cant syncronise my apps from the phone to the computer.. only the other way around..
What to do??

Choose Transfer Purchases from the File menu in iTunes.

  • How can i get a new id by my iphone without loosing all apps

    Hi,
I have an iphone which is connected over the ID of my ex-boyfriend. Now I want to know if it is possible to get a new ID for my phone without loosing all Apps and dates??
    Thanks a lot

Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them. Your ex should, if he has not already, change his password, which will make it impossible for you to update any apps he purchased. Technically, you do not own them and have no right to them. Create your own Apple ID. and set your phone up with it. Preferably by using Settings>General>Resets>Erase All Content and settings. Failing to do so could give your ex access to your contacts, calendars, etc. without your knowledge.

  • Syncing iTunes without loosing existing apps downloaded on the device?

How can I sync apps downloaded in iTunes to my device, without loosing the apps downloaded on the device itself?
If I sync, iTunes wants to overwrite all apps on the device! Like punching you for not downloading everything in itunes.
How can I sync the new apps without loosing the existing apps on my phone? Or better yet, Can't you choose which library (iTune's or iPhone's) to overwrite?
There must be a way, right? Help please

Choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes and then use the Transfer Purchases command.

  • How can I delete all photographs in stream of my iPhone 4 without loosing them on my mac?

How can I delete all photographs in stream of my iPhone 4 without loosing them on my mac? Because I have too much photographs
in my phone's memory and I need to know a simple methode to get them off.

Login to iCloud.com, hit the "Reset Photo Stream" button. This will delete all photos stored in iCloud, but not any photos pushed to any devices. Then, on your phone, Settings>iCloud>Photo Stream>Off. This will delete all photos in your Photo Stream album, on your phone. This will leave them on your Mac as long as you don't turn Photo Stream off on your Mac. If you first import them to your iPhoto library, you can then turn Photo Stream off on your Mac & they will remain in your iPhoto library.

I have an iPad that I want to update to IOS 5.1. I have several apps that each were installed using a different iTunes ID. How can I update the IOS without losing the apps?

To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.

  • PLEASE HELP; Updating iPhone 4 without losing apps or data

    Hi,
I want to update my iphone 4 but when I try it notifies me that  I will lose the apps that are currently on the phone. This is after I've synced my iphone with the iTunes on my mac in order to back it up.
If I click to sync Apps through iTunes, it tells me it will delete what is on the phone to match what is saved on my computer (there are apps saved on the computer which I have since deleted off my phone..!) So how do I back up my phone apps and save them from being deleted when I update the operating system?
I remember when macs were quite straight forward and simple to use, but now I am almost always confused when I try to do something!!
Will be grateful for any advise, thanks!

Sync Apps under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes should have been selected from the start and remain selected. This way after downloading an app direct with your iPhone the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so. And you can download an app with iTunes on your computer, select the app under the Apps tab folllowed by a sync to install the app on your iPhone. To remove an app from your iPhone without deleting the app, deselect the app under the Apps tab followed by a sync. To reinstall the app on your iPhone again later, reselect the app under the Apps tab followed by a sync. If you restore your iPhone with iTunes if wanted or needed, all apps are in your iTunes library to be reinstalled on your iPhone.
With your iPhone connected, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
After confirming all apps on your iPhone are now in your iTunes library, select Sync Apps followed by making sure all apps on your iPhone are selected below before sycning.

  • I want to sync my iphone to a new computer without loosing my apps, contacts, and photos

I need to sync my iphone3 to a new computer without loosing my data

Take a look here:  https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141  I think this is what you need.  I just did a clean install of OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard on our iMac (mid-07) and used this guide to get my wife's iPhone (3GS) to sync with it again...without losing the apps.  This page from OSXdaily is also useful:  http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/29/sync-iphone-new-computer-without-losing-data/  I do use Time Machine, and backed up my drive before I did the whole wipe and install, so I did have all the backup files for the iPhone...  It took a little time, but I did manage to drag all the music and photos over so I didn't lose anything.   Hope this helps.

  • I just bought my company boss's iphone 3gs and want to set it up in my PC without loosing the apps on it.

I just bought my company boss's iphone 3gs and want to set it up in my PC without losing the apps & music already on  it.  I have  already got a library for my old iphone 3g and was wondering how to go about it.
    cheers

That's called stealing, plain & simple. Your boss(or anyone for that matter) does not have the right to distribute any content, for any reason. The SLA does not permit such. When you plug the phone into your computer, all iTunes content will be erased from the phone, as it should be. You want content, purchase your own.

  • How to sync iPhone safely without loosing data after reinstall of OS X

    Hello,
This might be a very basic question! I recently erased and reinstalled Mountain Lion on my 15" MacBook Pro. I have full backup on an external drive. My iTunes library was not very well organized, I am planning to rebuild iTunes library. My guess is if I connect and sync my iPhone 4 (iOS 6) to iTunes, it will erase everything from phone? Is that true?
I do not want to loose Notes, Apps and other settings from phone, Notes are only on the phone (and lots of them), not on iCloud. Music, I dont care much, I will sync as I add more music to iTunes library. Also, I have an iPad (with iOS 5) which I want to sync to new library as well.
How should I go about it?
    Thanks much in advance!
    Cheers
