Updating iPod- Seems to be empty

Recently when i try to update my ipod, an error message reads " the songs on the iPod " Allison Munroe's iPod" cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist"
What should i do in this situation?
I had songs on my iPod but they some how all got deleted off. Is this normal? Or should i be taking it in for repairs? It sounds like its just something to do with the software but im not sure?

It appears the message you received is indicating that
i iTunes
no longer has the playlists or songs to update the iPod.
If you are updating selected playlists, make sure that they are contained within iTunes.
With the iPod attached and recognized in iTunes, got to Edit==>Preferences==>'iPod' tab and check the type of syncing you have. You may need to change the Playlists you want to have sync'd.

You need to buy Snow Leopard from the online Apple Store. You don't need Mountain Lion.

- What was the error message?
- Try closing iTunes and then disconnect the iPod from the computer. Then reconnect the iPod. If the iPod shows in iTunes then you can try again. However, You should try to resolve the error message first.
- If iTunes does not see the iPod try reetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- I recommend that you come back with the what the error message said and the condition of the iPod and if it is visible in iTunes.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

What specifically is the message saying?

I was halfway thru updating ipod touch software, got error 1602

I was halfway thru updating ipod touch software, i walked away from computer and when i came back there was an error "1602" and a picture on my ipod (requesting to connect to itunes?) but WILL NOT WORK AT ALL!
What's going on? Seems like a lot of people are having similar problems all at the same time.

No Wi-fi after IoS 6 update (iPod Touch 4th gen)

As it seems to be normal on these forums to make new topics whenever a subject doesn't perfectly fit your own question, I figured I'd do the same.
See, in the other topics, apparntly, resetting the iPod works and solves the problem.
However, in my case, it does not.
Even though it sometimes takes a few tries, I can still connect to a certain wi-fi, whether it be on the train (yes, Dutch trains have wi-fi) or at home, but when I actually try to access the internet, either it crashes and the wi-fi sign disappears, or it simply won't load the page I'm looking for.
I've never had issues with my iPod up to this point, but suddenly, since the update it seems like there's no way to properly access the internet anymore.
Just to repeat myself: I did try resetting my settings, but it hasn't had any effect yet.

Updated Ipod software 1.1

Hey there,
I am on the road for work for a period of time and do not have access to my full library of music which is on my PC at home. ( I have added some more tunes while travelling by manual update)
If I install the new software update (ipod 1.1)on the computer I am using temporarily, will it auto-update the ipod and remove all the music I brought from home?
Any help please?

I see complaints about the new iPod software update, and me I haven't had any problems with the update and my 60 Gig video iPod. If anything, I have notices that the menu responses seem a little faster, movie playing now only takes one click to play or pause the movie instead of two clicks and looking at the album art and rating songs seems to move slightly faster across the screen. What kind of problems are you having with the update on your iPod?

please help!! my ipod seems to be stuck. when i try to play music, the play icon shows up but the counters at bottom of screen do not move, nor does the song play.
I can play games, they are not stuck
I have reset ipod, and also restored it original settings multiple times with no luck.
any ideas??

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The songs are grayed out in iTunes because the iPod is set to automatically update. That is normal.
As for the songs skipping and not playing, that is not.
Try resetting your iPod...

Also, make sure all the software on both your computer and iPod is up to date...

Which update button are you referring to?
I am not aware of an 'Update Button' in iTunes, do you mean the Update iPod option in the iTunes 'File' menu?

Updating iPod in Itunes 7

I've found yet another problem in iTunes 7, and I can't find any discussion or solutions so far.
While I'm hesitant to update my iPod firmware from 1.1 to 1.2, for the first time last night I was unable to move a Video Podcast onto my iPod because my "software is not current". I got this error from iTunes.
However, when I attempt to update my iPod from the iPod page in iTunes7 = I click on the update button > iTunes then ejects my iPod > then a pop up displays with a progress bar with the verbiage "updating iPod".
Nothing is being updated because the iPod was ejected. I've left this window for over 15 minutes thinking maybe just maybe.... but iTunes is actually locked and not responding. I have to use Task Manager to shut it down.
Has anyone else ran into this problem, more importantly anyone solved this problem?

okay, let's try upgrading to itunes 7.0.2.16 and then trying another update. (so far, 7.0.2.16 seems to be doing a bit better than the earlier 7.0.x versions when it comes to updating ipods.)

I have restored my ipod numerous times, recharged it in an outlet, restarted my computer, updated my itunes to 7.0.2 twice, and restarted my ipod, and the computer says my ipod seems to be corrupted and I don't know what to do because ive tried everything.

If you can see your iPod in Windows, reformat it (FAT32, don't use a quick format) and then Restore it using iTunes.

Incredibly I have been through this miserable scenario - and posted about it in another thread. I finaly succeeed in overcoming it. How you ask. Well ( and I am one who just bought a Mac and was thinking of switching for good) - a Windows 200 Machine running an old 4.x version of iTunes. Say's I said a Windows machine !
As soon as I dowenloaded and installed the updater it allowed me to upgrade - and I did to 2.3. So the probelem is either the Mac version or more liley 5.0 itself.
Now why oh why would I have to use a 4 yeard lod Windows 200 machine to update to the latest firmware on my Apple iPod, to make be able to play music that I purchased from the Appple store - somethng I could not do with my brand new Apple G5 anf Apple iTunes 5.0. I seem like I am repeating Apple again and again. Yeah ...right. good thing I didn;t throw ou that old Windows piece of junk huh ? Long live Bill Gates - simple, eee-gadds - dare I say user-friendly computing. Did I say that ?

hmmmmmmmmmmm. one other thing that might be worth a try if all else fails. i have once seen something like this turn out to be caused by a really kinky version of this issue:
iTunes: "privileges" or "permissions" issue when importing audio CD or adding music to library
... where the permissions were odd on the ipod itself ... but i've only seen that happen once. it's probably worth checking on only if nothing else seems to be working for you.
