Updating itunes across to my ipod - unknown error (-69) keeps occuring

Hi, just recently i have spent hours transfering my albums across to itunes, setting up playlists etc.
So to add to my frustration with my ipod nano, now i am getting this error message "attempting to copy to disk ' mizz81 ipod" failed an uknown error occured (-69)"that appears even though i have tried the following:
*installed the latest version of software
*retried a different usb port (although i do not have a *high speed USB port - does this matter? my itunes used to tranfer across b4)
*reset my ipod
*re-started computer hundreds of times
*installed an ipod updater which doesn't seem to do anything, just freezes on the computer - although the task manager shows the programme is running, nothing appears to be happening.
*restored my ipod through the new updater option
re-ran the ipod set up
HEEEELP!! i only got this ipod at xmas and it already freezes etc on me, now i cant even use the **** thing as i cant transfer my music on itunes across, currently it has only transferred across 30 songs, then the error occurs.
please explain any solutions you have quite clearly my PC mind is not that technical....
thank you, i wait and hope....

Disk write -69 generally refers to a specific file in your iTunes, that is not able to be copied to and played on your iPod. Try updating the iPod and watching the progress at the top, and see which file(s) is/are causing the issue. Try erasing them from your iPod library (click on the file and hit the delete button on your keyboard) and then try to update your iPod again. If you feel like you're getting the issue on more files than you ought to be, or if it doesn't get past the first file every time you erase the file, you might want to try following the steps in this article, and then updating the iPod again.

Also, as a side note... on Toshiba's, the iPod generally performs better if the iPod is connected to the USB port on the side of the computer than one of the ones in the back.
Best wishes

  • Airport for Windows unable to update Apple ID, but still gives "Unknown Error" and keeps opening Airport. NEED AN UPDATE!

I found out what's wrong only because I still have an old (2010) Macbook Pro and it's Airport software gets the same error, but it tells me what the problem is and let's me fix it. The problem was I changed my AppleID password and it's apparently stored in the Airport Extreme. The windows version just says Unknown Error and offers Software Update, but there is no update. The problem is Airport Utility keeps opening and repeating this error on all Windows machines. If I didn't have the old mac there would be no way out. Please update Airport for Windows.
PS: I don't have a new Mac because:
    1. Price is more than $1,000 higher than comparable PC.
    2. No 17" laptop offered.
    3. Can get a really good graphics card.
    4. Limited availability of the really high performance Intel chips.
    5. Price is too high (oh, yes, I said that already).

You need to ask Apple for assistance with getting back into your old ID. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to resolve this issue through the Account Security team, fill out and submit this form.

  • After 2.0 Update "iTunes could not connect iPod error (0xE8000001)?

I've downloaded the 2.0 update for my iTouch... after the installer had finished its work it alerted me that the iTouch was rebooting and would appear in iTunes. However, I got this error message instead:
"iTunes could not connect iPod unknown error occured (0xE8000001)". I'm not sure if I should disconnect the USB or not.. or what is going on. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Sweet! The power of the collective on the web...
Jeff - try this, worked great -
unfortunately i lost all my info on my touch when doing this, but I can dedicate some time tonight to resetting my wallpaper, my mail settings, etc.
i think the 'DFU' in these instructions means device firmware upgrade...found this on another forum where people complaining of same problem...
    1. Hold both the home and power buttons until the device turns off
    2. EXACTLY one second after the iPod turns off, release the sleep/wake button, holding the home button still ( the apple logo SHOULD NOT BE ON ).
    3. In about 20 seconds, you will see your iPod appear in iTunes, but the screen on your iPod will still be off. You are now in DFU mode.
    4. RELEASE the home button as soon as your iPod appears iTunes. If you fail to do so, your iPod will simply go back into recovery mode.
yo Apple - please roll out some info on this 'known issue'; While $9.95 isn't a budget-breaker, if you have to figure out how to make that $9.95 work on your Apple device like it appears some of us are, it speaks to posting something in Support about it - thanks!

Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I don't think that's an iTunes error code; sounds like a Windows one: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123
I would remove iTunes and all its components completely, reinstall, and try again. Try on another computer if you can also.

  • TS1368 I can't connect to iStores through iTunes on my Windows Xp machine. Everything is updated and I am getting message: We could not complete you iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-1202). Any suggestions??

I can't connect to iStores through iTunes on my Windows Xp machine. Everything is updated and I am getting message: We could not complete you iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-1202). Any suggestions??

I have the same problem PLUS I get the "Genius is temporarily unable to show you related music..." whenever I select a song. This occurs even when I log in as Administrator. Updating to 8.0.1 did not fix either problem.
I can access the iTunes Store and download music. Genius had no problems uploading my iTunes Library info, and it can create playlists for selected songs. I believe this rules out communications and authorization problems. I have a G4 Mac Mini, a G5 PowerPC, and an Intel iMac with the same problem, so it's unlikely to be a Mac hardware issue. A firewall problem was unlikely (since I can access the iTunes Store), but I tested this with the firewall off. Both problems still remained. Updating Genius, turning Genius off and then on again, reinstalling iTunes 8, updating to 10.5.5, etc. did not work.
The only unusual factor is that I have HughesNet satellite 'broadband.' I cannot see how that would matter, but perhaps the individual song iTunes Store and Genius features don't get along with something in my HughesNet 'modem.' Any ideas from other users?

  • TS2753 we could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (4200)

When I sync the iphone 4s after updating the apps on the download section, I get the error code : we could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (4200).
iTunes updates the phone as far as I know, but clearly there is some sort of error or fault. I have looked for code elsewhere and googled it too without success.
Anyone else come across the same problem?
    Thanks

It was just an outage for the store. Happened earlier today and was back up and working within 10 minutes.

    Hi All,
I had this problem today myself, and was frustrated repeatedly by the '4002' error.
I have literally just fixed the issue by doing the following steps:
1: Go to the 'Store' tab and select 'Turn Off iTunes Match'
2: Return to the 'Store' tab and select 'Update Genius'
3: Wait for this to complete succesfully, the return to the 'Store' tab once more and select 'Turn On iTunes Match'.
4: iTunes Match will now go through the motions and should succeed!
    I hope this helps

  • ITunes Store error msg: We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50).

So I began having trouble connecting to the iTunes store with my computer about a month ago. It was working fine, I purchased and downloaded some music, and then the next day I got this message when I clicked on the iTunes Store: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."
Some basic facts about my computer:
Mac OS X 10.7.3, purchased in May '12.
iTunes is updated to the latest 10.6.3 version.
I have Sophos Anti-Virus (newly installed in the last two weeks).
    No firewalls are set up.
Parental controls are not blocking anything (don't have them set up).
Internet connection is fine, no matter how I connect.
I did have an older version of iTunes (the previous version, so it wasn't that old) when the problem began, so I updated to the newest version hoping it would fix it; but it hasn't. I have checked the firewalls per apple community posts. I have checked the network connection. I only just put on an Anti-Virus (and the problem was pre-AV, so it shouldn't be that). I FINALLY figured out how to uninstall iTunes, and then I reinstalled it. The store still won't open, giving me the same message.
A little more research seems to show that the (-50) error is when it times out? But the message appears barely half a second after I click on the iTunes Store icon. It doesn't seem to even try; there isn't enough time to warrant a 'timing out'.
I am at a loss. At this point I am considering taking my computer in and telling them 'fix it, no matter what', but if I can avoid the hassle of being without my one and only computer for at LEAST a week, that would be great.
    Does anyone have any ideas?!
    Thank you and God bless!
    Mary

    Hi Laura-Wedders,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
On August 7th, some users may have been unable to make purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, Mac App Store, or iBookstore. Apple worked quickly to resolve these issues, however you may have experienced them.

  • Cannot connect to the iTunes Store because of an unknown error (-42408)

Sometime - like about 3 times a week - when i sync my Ipod with itunes 9.0.3, I get a message saying that I am not authorised to play some songs on my iPod. I then have to authorise my computer for a previous apple ID. Usually, this authorisation fails with an error code 42408 when iTunes tries to connect to the iTunes store. I am using the correct (old) apple id and the correct password but get the message "we could not complete your iTunes stores request. An unknown error occurred (-42408)"
Can anyone shed any light on this and let me know what the solution is?
    Thanks

Thanks. Option 1 worked for me:
    1. Eject and disconnect the iPod/iPhone from the computer.
    2. Open iTunes.
    3. Find a protected song from the iTunes Store (Kind = Protected AAC audio file) in your library.
    4. Play the song.
    5. Connect your iPod/iPhone.
I hope Apple fix this soon - it's very irritating!
