Updating iTunes issues
I have tried to update Itunes. When I launch it I get the following message:
"The file 'iTunes Library.Itl' cannot be read becasue it was created by a newer version of iTunes".
I have tried to update itunes by it does not seem to be working? Any thoughts? Thanks

Open iTunes and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

Is it possible to update itunes without getting Mavericks? I have an issue with my iPhone.
I recently updated to ios8.0.2 for my iphone 5s. And now when I plug it into my macbook, itunes prompts me to update itunes because ios8 apparently doesn't allow me to sync the previous version of itunes. But the new itunes requires updating to Mavericks, which I really DO NOT want to do, mostly because I do run Bootcamp a lot and start up in windows from time to time. I've heard people having issues with bootcamp and Mavericks, like having to re install Windows/Parallels/etc. and I am not ready for that mess. I don't have access to my windows 7 serial number anymore (it was given to me by a teacher awhile back with whom I don't have contact with anymore). I'm just ultimately trying to avoid screwing up bootcamp/windows, losing files, and having to purchase windows if the worst case scenario happens.
I considered just using itunes in windows, but on the windows side of things, itunes wont give me the notification/option to transfer all my purchases from my iphone, so there goes that. If there is a solution to just transferring purchases, I'd much rather go that route than the mess of mavericks.Click here.

After updating with iTunes 12.1 for Windows 8.1, when I restarted my computer, my headphones no longer work. According to my computer they do. Is this an iTunes issue? I did the audio troubleshooting and it says everything is fine. I have a Toshiba Satellite L75D-A7280.
Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.

Trying to download the iOS 8.2 software update on my iPhone 6, but it won't update. All app updates have resolved since the iTunes issue was resolved. Is the software update issue related to this as well, or is it another problem entirely?
I've synced it to iTunes, turned it off/on, etc., but still not downloading.
Any help is appreciated.

So is the iOS 8.2 update not downloading to your iPhone, computer or both?
You have synced it to iTunes, that is an option to update if it's not updating wirelessly. Please see if other steps help.

My itunes opens 2-3 hrs after doubleclicking it to open;it happened once or twice with itunes 11.x , but its a constant problem after updating itunes to the latest 12.0.1....my operating system windows7;processor i5 intel haswell and 4gb ram...i have no issue with opening other big programs....i tried uninstalling completely the itunes and reinstalling it as i thought at first it is not opening (because it takes really long time) and i followed the following support pages
1)iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
2)iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
but my problem doesnot get solved even after trying all the methods in the above pages...

I updated Itunes today to the latest version. Windows 7 64bit. None of my drivers work and get an error when itunes starts, about registry setting for reading and writing dvds and cds missing. Anyone else have the same issue. I downloaded itunes again, reinstalled still have same issue.
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

Try clearing your browser's cache and redownloading the iTunes setup file.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Updated iTunes to 11.0.3 and now when I try to use Airport Express I get a message in iTunes that states, "an unknown error has occured (-15000.) I gave the Airport a hard re-start, so I don't think that is the issue. Using Windows 7 Ultimate
Looks like I fixed it., thanks to another post I read. I went into my Norton Security. Under Settings. Chose Firewall. Program rules. changed the itunes setting from "auto" to "allow" This also fixed my error (-3212) which would not allow me to connect to the iTunes store.

Since updating iTunes, having playback sound issues
Updated iTunes so that I could install iOS 5. Now when using iTunes for playback from my library on my iMac the sound is TERRIBLE. Really low volume, muddy sound. Volume on everything else is fine, so it isn't a speaker issue. Volume was fine a few days ago, so I'm assuming that it is an iTunes 10.5 (141) issue.
I'm now having the same sound problem with my AAC audiobook files. Couldn't yet sa if it's all the files or just some of the newly imported ones.
They now playback with noticable aliasing as if their bitrate has been significantly lowered.
Horrible to listen to music that now sounds like an AM radio broadcast.
Gonna wait and hope to see if a fix will come this week.
Also noticed that some of the same type files don't correctly copy into my iTunes library for some reason.

Updated itunes, ipod and now i have playlist issues.
just upgraded to OS X (5.8). then upgraded ipod to os 4.2. then updated itunes to 10. now i am having interesting issues when i plug the ipod into the computer. of course, everything on the ipod music was wiped out. so i had to sync back all the music. but now i cannot make any playlists when i plug in the ipod. i can only make playlists in itunes on the computer. this is not right. i made several playlists on my ipod before. when i hit the file drop down menu, none of the playlist options are highlighted when i have the ipod selected. what has happened or what do i need to do???
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -
Itunes 10.5.2 Issues! Been "Updating iTunes Library" for over 8 hrs now. Not even halfway finished on about 275 GB
Anyone else having issues with this update?!?!?!
Can't access anything in my library while it's doing this.I moved into a clean install last night and when I fired up iTunes 10.5.1. I held down "option" key, selected my original library and everything was perfect. That was until I quit. It started to "update" the library. I was slightly concerned, but since I had just moved into a new install I let it go and hoped for the best. For 85GB it took quite a while, close to an hour. This made me a little more concerned, but in the light of Apple, I resigned myself to the fact that "stuff" happens. And again hoped for the best. So I would imagine for 275GB would be a lot more. THEN after that was done it asked if I wanted it do something to match my settings? ***? My settings were the same as they were in the previous install. Or did something not go right with 10.5.1 in the other install and this was overlooked? I OK'd it and hoped for the best again.
But now I am getting an error as I startup iTunes:
"A required iTunes component is not installed. Please reinstall iTunes. (-42404)"
iTunes comes up just fine behind this error and after dismissing it all is just fine. Or so I think or am led to believe. I'm thinking it's a "phone home" component, so I'm not real concerned. That's why I came here today to look up this error and stumbled on this post that somewhat happened to me last night.
Looks like the process takes a while. And what it's updating I'm not sure, but I run nightly updates and all the "important" iTunes files in many iterations are safely backed up for reversion. Apple, never a dull moment . . . -
Having Problems Updating iTunes 10.6.3, it wont update when I click the download button to update the itunes. What should I do to fix the issue? And does Anyone esle have this problem?
Just want to update the problem everybody is having downloading the new update. If you waited, and didn't try to reinstall or anything, it looks like a "fix" is coming to you. My previous ITunes was working fine so I decided to just wait it out and see if Apple would fix it. Knew it wasn't my computer because of all the same questions in this forum. And I want to let all to know that when I signed on to my computer today an Apple Software Update window popped up on my desktop. (Not the little one we've all been clicking on from the ITunes screen.). This came up right on my desktop. I clicked on it to download and it worked like a charm. After it was done downloading I pulled up ITunes and all looked great, all my purchases, songs were still there. I then plugged in my IPod and then my IPad and they both synced, etc., ....all is well again! So it you didn't try to re-install or anything, and have just been waiting and using your current version of ITunes, be patient. Looks like the fix will be coming to you, too.

Just tried to update iPhone 4S to 6.1 and it first of all failed to back up then it failed to update (Error 11) so i had to put it in recovery mode and restore it then it failed to restore with an unknown error starting to think its an itunes issue does anyone have any advice?
if your computer is not recognizing it, try using a different USB port or different usb cable. if that doesnt work you will need to uninstall and reinstall itunes.

I updated iTunes on my windows 7 laptop and I updated my iOS on my iphone4 and I used a USB to plug it into my computer but it doesn't have the "iPhone"" icon appear in the corner of the screen. Can anybody please help me fix this so that I can sync my music to my iPhone. I would really appreciate it! Please and thank you!!!

Attempted to update iTunes on January 23rd and it appeared to install properly. When I tried to open iTunes on January 24th, it would not open and gave me an error message that said "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)" I then tried to reintall iTunes and it again appeared to install properly but when it attempted to open, I was given the same error message.
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

Why can't Flash CC compress a SWF as well as Flash CS 5.5?
