  • Updated iTunes Problem

I've been using iTunes now for a year or two with absolutely no problems but after updating to version 7.6.2.9 yesterday I've not been able to connect properly to the iTunes Store.
Initially it seems to connect okay but after the Store home page appears the bar at the top of iTunes that displays the page loading progress starts flashing back and forth saying it's still connecting until it eventually stops and freezes iTunes up entirely. This happens unless I quickly log into my account details before iTunes becomes unresponsive. If I do that then the Store connects. Obviously I don't want to be having to do that every time I use iTunes.
It's not anything to do with my firewalls or anti-virus/spyware software. All of that has been checked and double checked. The problem seems to be with the current version of iTunes itself. Is there anywhere you can check to see if this is an error that Apple is aware of?

You should run your iTunes Network connectivity diagnostics - Available from the help menu.
Then paste the result into your next post.
If you are certain it is not a firewall issue, try connecting through another account. Just occasionally a prefrence file problem can lead to connection probelms. If that is the case the preference files can be deleted, instructions can be found buried in this article about something else:

  • Itunes says I need itunes 11.1 version or later on my iphone before it will recognise the iphone. How do I update itunes on my iphone or is it a computer problem?

I have been trying to sync/back up my iphone and ipad but iTunes is saying I need to update my iphone to version 11.1 or later. I thought my phone was up to date and I can't seem to update iTunes on my phone anyway. Does anyone know how to update iTunes on my phone or is it a computer problem? I've been having problems with iTunes on my PC so I re-installed it but it's been a nightmare trying to get it to work.
This is the message I receive says " The iphone 'iPhone' cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com.au to download the latest version of iTunes". I get a similar one for my iPad too.
When I go to the website I can only find the download for my PC but not the iPhone.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

No, your iPhone i s telling you that you need iTunes 11.1 or greater on your computer in order to sync with the computer.

Then you should fix this issue with iTunes before you try to sync your iPhone to it.

  • Computer AND iTunes don't recognize my iPod touch.  Comp thinks it is a camera.  iTunes won't bring up devices at all.  I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes... getting beyond P/Oed!!!

Computer AND iTunes don't recognize my iPod touch.  Comp thinks it is a camera or something.  iTunes won't bring up devices at all.  I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes - updated iTunes completely demolished my computer's ability to recognize the sound card and computer had NO sound at all.  I had to uninstall iTunes, QT, AND my sound card and reinstall them all.  Sound worked fine, but now I can't sync my iPod.  Computer recognizes that "something" is hooked up (thinks it might possibly be a camera) and I get that "open with" window.  In "my computer" it shows that there is an "iPod" connected, but it is pictured as a camera.  In iTunes my username is no longer appearing (although account info is there) and NO devices whatsoever get listed.  There is nothing wrong with my USB ports or cable.  And of course Apple won't help anyone unless you pay them to. ... I am getting beyond P/Oed!!!  You pay hundreds for a product and all you get are headaches with their stupid bug infested software and no support at all.
Can anyone out there help me clean up this unbelievable mess Apple and iTunes has created in my computer?
    Thank you.
    Evie

After three completely wasted days trying to figure all of this out I finally got it fixed - on my own - by reading dozens and dozens of rogue posts in indie forums from people that refuse to dish out money to have a company TRY and advise possible fixes on their own glitches.
(here's a novel idea - fix the glitches Apple.  Or - don't send out updates filled with bugs in the first place)
Everything (several applications) had to be uninstalled in a very specific order and then restarted , then it all had to be verified with manual deletions of leftovers, and emptying the recycle bin, then another restart, then iT had to be reinstalled again and the system restarted again, and two more update downloads. Holy!!!
I love my little iPod touch, but I honestly must say, when this kind of thing happens (and it has several times now when I try to deal with iTunes or Apple), it makes me want to flush it down the toilet.

  • ITunes 10.6.1 Update install problem

I updated iTunes to 10.6.1 and now iTunes does not open. The agreement screen comes up when you try to open it and once you click "I Agree" you then get a pop up from windows saying the iTunes is not responding and that it needs to be shut down. I have reset the computer twice and tried downloading the update again. The 2nd download took like 1 second so I'm assuming iTunes recognized that the update had already been done.
I know I could uninstall iTunes and start over but I will then loose playlists that are not backed up on other devices. Any tips or ideas. This is the 2nd iTunes update that has caused me problems. This suprises me because Apple always seems to have their poop in a group.
    Thanks for any help!!!

Solved my own problem. Option-click the green button is now working, even though I tried numerous time before posting with no success!
Also I've just seen the spell check "abc" above, but am wondering why this is no longer automatic?

  • IPod Updater Code problem? iTunes not connecting with iPod.

There may be a problem with the iPod updater.
    I have a 15 GB iPod (JQ418QZLQQF)
Updated iTunes to 5.0.1.4. Connected iPod.
Got a window...told me to downloaded iPod Updater 9/23/05. Did it.
Updated iPod. iTunes would start writing and then quit. Got a window; told me to restore iPod.
Tried restore 7 times. Failed. When iTunes tried to load it stalled, then McAfee Antivirus program hung up, then got messages that it could no longer communicate with iPod ... got (-36) errors.
Got FAQ sheets. Did everything. Unplugged from internet, disabled antivirus program. No luck.
Unloaded every non-related program in RAM. No luck.
Tried iTunes and iPod in SAFE mode. No luck.
Last error message was "Attempting to copy to the disk "IPOD" failed. An unknown error occurred (-53)"
Bought 5th generation 20 GB iPod Color. Plugged it in.
Reformatted it with the 9/23/05 ipod updater. ... iTunes could not connect to it.
Tried the 9/6/05 updater. Still didn't work.
Opened the CD that it came with and installed the 6/5/05 ipod updater software. iTunes immediately recognized the new ipod and loaded songs without failure.

I ran into this on a client system yesterday. Same issue re: new songs with a dock ipod running ver 2.2.
I tried to update on three separate g4 based macs, each running 10.3.9. On one, the ipod failed to mount. On the other two, the updater gave the message {approx} "the firmware for the update is not present" when the Update button was clicked.
For no good reason, I tried using the "Update" in the Options menu instead of the button. I immediately got an administer confirmation box, gave the password, and the update proceded correctly. Monkey behavior triumphs. Got to be an installer bug. Try it and let us know if this works for you.

  • HT1926 Have the same problem as many other users: tried to update iTunes on Windows 7 today; first message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 1

I have the same problem as many other users: updated iTunes on Windows 7 on Jan 26, 2014 and iTunes does not open.  First message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 126)". When will Apple fix this? Don’t feel like uninstalling all Apple software and then re-installing it as suggested, as I am on a terribly slow internet connection while travelling in the DR Congo.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

    Hi hongkongpom,
Just wanted to say that after posting the problem, I had a chat with an iTunes' Tech Support, her name is Rebekah.  My problem was resolved after that.  Will list the chat history below in hopes that it may help you as well.
    Good luck!

    Rebekah:
Welcome to AppleCare chat support. Please give me a moment to look over your information.
    Rebekah:
Hi, Samia! My name is Rebekah. If we get disconnected, please chat us back. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/contactEnter the case number from the initial email we sent you. This gives the next advisor you chat with immediate access to your case history.
    Rebekah:
Could you please confirm your serial number? I want to be sure we provide the best service possible for you, Samia!
    SAMIA:
    Sure, it's 8L8395UY2C5
    SAMIA:
    My problem is with iTunes.
    Rebekah:
Thanks for that confirmation. Just a heads up, this is iOS Tech Support. We do support iPod touches, iPads, and iPhones, but not the iPod classic. But no worries! I can get you in touch with a phone Advisor who can get you in touch with the department that specializes in iPod classics and would be able to better assist you. Would that be OK?
    SAMIA:
I wasn't able to install the new version of iTunes (version 11.1.1). The installation keeps failing. The they suggested the I install it manually and that failed too. I will attach the message I received.
    SAMIA:
    I don't have a problem with iPod.
    SAMIA:
    Just iTunes
    Rebekah:
No problem! We can certainly troubleshoot iTunes as much as possible. It may come to the point that you may have to transferred, but we can do as much as possible during this chat!
    Rebekah:
Thanks for the screenshot. It is a bit small so I am unable to fully see the message that you are receiving. What is the error message you are receiving?
    SAMIA:
This is the message I received in case you weren't able to open the attachment: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2324."
    Rebekah:
    Thanks for that info!
    SAMIA:
    Pleasure!
    Rebekah:
What version of Windows (XP, Vista, 7) do you have?
    SAMIA:
    Windows 7
    SAMIA:
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Rebekah:
Thanks for that confirmation. I do apologize for the delay, Samia. I am researching this error code now. You mentioned trying to install iTunes manually. To be sure I am on the same page, what steps did you take to do that?
    SAMIA:
Well when the indsatalltion failed I was given instructions to select Download Only from Tools and then install manually. When I did it, I window popped up with the following items: - AppleApplicationSupport
    SAMIA:
    - AppleMobileDeviceSupport64
    SAMIA:
    - Bonjour64
    SAMIA:
    iTunes64
    SAMIA:
    SetupAdmin
    SAMIA:
I selected Repair in all of them instead of Remove and all worked but iTunes64
    SAMIA:
That's when I received the message that I sent you earlier.
    SAMIA:
By the way, this is the fir st time something like this occured. I never had problems with installation before.
    Rebekah:
I completely understand what you're saying. Since that Repair did not resolve the issue, our best option is to uninstall iTunes and its components and redownload it. To do this, we will follow the steps in this article: Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    Rebekah:
First, we will want to quit iTunes and/or Apple Software Update if those are open at this time.
    SAMIA:
Rebekah, the instructions you gave says, "For Windows XP, follow these steps to remove and reinstall iTunes and other software components for Windows XP."
    SAMIA:
    I closed all applications
    SAMIA:
Also, my iTunes doesn't open anymore after the new failed installation.
    Rebekah:
The section that says "For Windows XP…" is in case we opened up the wrong article, as we have the one for Windows Vista, 7, or 8. There is a link to click ("these steps") in those directions that would take us to the article for uninstalling on a Windows XP.
    Rebekah:
So no worries! We have the right article!
    Rebekah:
On the computer, we will want to click on Start > Control Panel. In Control Panel, we will click the "Uninstall a program" link.
    SAMIA:
I thought so after doing a little exploration.
    SAMIA:
    done
    Rebekah:
Alright, we'll want to select iTunes from the list of currently installed programs. Then we will click Uninstall. When asked if you would like to remove iTunes, let's click Yes.
    Rebekah:
After the uninstallation is complete, we don't want to restart your computer if you're prompted.
    SAMIA:
    Done
    Rebekah:
Then if you see other iTunes entries on the list, we'll want to remove them the same way.
    Rebekah:
Then we will remove all instances of Apple Software Update the same way you removed iTunes.
    SAMIA:
Okay, but do I have to remoce iCloud as well?
    SAMIA:
Rebekah, I received the same error message again when uninstalling
    Rebekah:
We actually do not need to remove iCloud. After the Apple Software Update, we will want to remove all instances of Apple Mobile Device Support
    Rebekah:
How strange! Are you able to click past that and allow the process to continue or has it stopped it completely?
    SAMIA:
I am unable to uninstall iTunes either
    SAMIA:
    Stopped completely
    SAMIA:
    I treied clicking Repair
    Rebekah:
Alright, after trying the Repair option, let's see if it will allow us to continue uninstalling or not.
    SAMIA:
I tried that but unfortunately, it isn't working. I still get that same message with error code 2324.
    Rebekah:
This error code is not something that I am finding in my sources, Samia. So there is a chance that it is being caused with the Windows computer itself. However, I did find a link that may be able to help with uninstalling iTunes from Windows' support site: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
    SAMIA:
Rebekah, you're a genius! It worked! iTunes is no longer there. What next?
    Rebekah:
    Awesome! I'm glad that worked!
    Rebekah:
To be sure I am on the same page, what was the last component we uninstalled?
    SAMIA:
    iTunes
    SAMIA:
Shall I remove the Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, and Apple Software Update
    Rebekah:
That is correct! However, we do want to uninstall it in the order I mentioned above. So Apple Software Update first, Apple Mobile Device Support next, and then Apple Mobile Device Support.
    SAMIA:
Got it, but is the second one to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support OR Apple pplication Support?
    Rebekah:
The second one is Apple Mobile Device Support.
    Rebekah:
The Application Support will be the last component we uninstall.
    SAMIA:
    Thanks! I'm on it.
    SAMIA:
Done! ll 3 are gone, well 4 with iTunes. Now what?
    Rebekah:
Awesome! Also, I just noticed that I accidentally typed Apple Mobile Device Support twice, I do apologize for any confusion! Now we will remove all instances of Bonjour and then remove all instances of Apple Application Support.
    SAMIA:
There was only 1 instance with Bonjour. I don't know what the instances are for Apple Application Support
    Rebekah:
Yes, Bonjour is often only listed once. Is the Apple Application Support listed at all?
    SAMIA:
    No
    SAMIA:
    Since I removed it
    Rebekah:
Oh, perfect! If it was removed, we should be set!
    Rebekah:
We have removed iTunes and its components now! From here, our next step is to restart the computer. Then once you reboot, you can redownload iTunes from apple.com/itunes
    Rebekah:
That should allow you to download iTunes!
    SAMIA:
Shall I downloaad the latest vesion?
    Rebekah:
You will want to first restart the computer as shown in the article. That will ensure that this process goes smoothly and that everything was removed correctly! Then you can try downloading iTunes again.
    SAMIA:
    Okay, thanks Rebekah!
    Rebekah:
You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help! And of course if you have any issue after the reboot and download, you can always chat us back, as chat is open 24 hours! You will just need to give your case number and the next Advisor would have all my notes!
    SAMIA:
Thanks again for all your help, for I couldn't have managed with out it. Have a nice day!
    Rebekah:
You're very welcome! I know how important iTunes is and I'm glad we could get you on a path to resolution!
    Rebekah:
I hope you have a lovely day!
    Rebekah:
It's been a pleasure speaking with you! Thanks for chatting with us Samia. If you don't have any more questions, select End Chat from the upper left corner of the chat window.
    SAMIA:
    Will do, thanks.
