Updating itunes without internet

Mini ipod has been sent back twice, both letters I've written have been ignored.
Been given another ipod, know I've gotta update itunes, done it before at work and didn't lose any songs, but the one I have at home hasn't got internet, does anyone know how I can update it? I've backed up my songs just incase they disappear too.
Thanks

hiya!
hmmm. can you download a copy of the installer (get a copy of the ipod software installer too) to the work PC, burn copies to a CD-R and carry the installers back to the PC?
(copy the installers to the hard drive of the home PC and run the installs from there rather than off the CD.)
love, b

  • Updating iTunes without Internet Connection

I just got a new Nano and it didn't come with any disks or anything.
When I plug it in it asks if I want to upgrade, then says that the iPod isn't compatible for such an update.
If I choose not to upgrade it continues, looks as if the songs are going on but they actually don't.
However, I can see via "Settings" on my iPod that the memory space has been taken up by "Other" but no songs are on it. Very strange??
I can't update my iTunes because I don't have internet connection on my laptop. Is there some sort of disk I could get instead to update it to iTunes 9???
    Any help much appreciated!!

Can I just download the .exe file to a flash drive and then use that to update my current iTunes.
Yes, you can. Download the iTunes installer on any computer that has Internet access. Then copy that installer to any removable medium - flash drive, CD/DVD etc. You can then take the installer to your computer and use it to update your copy of iTunes.
do I have to uninstall iTunes before I do that?
No, you don't have to uninstall iTunes before updating (at least not unless something goes wrong).
Note that there may be issues with an iPhone - registering, updating, etc. - if your computer doesn't have Internet access. I don't have an iPhone so I'm not sure.
    Regards.

  • Can I update iOs using itunes without internet connection?

I am using an ipad mini 2, second generation. I plugged it in to itunes and there was an update avaible for ios 8. Can I update iOs using itunes without internet connection? Thank you

iTunes needs an internet connection to download the update if it has not already. Then it needs to verify the update with Apple servers prior to installation.
So in short, no, you do need at least some form of internet access to update.

Other than for purchased movies/TV shows, yes. You will need the internet to homeshare protected content though.

What do you want to watch it on?
You need a computer (Mac or Windows) with iTunes, an AppleTV, an iPod touch, iPhone or iPad.

  • Airport Extreme streaming iTunes without Internet

    Hello.
I no longer have Internet access in my home. I do still have a MacBook Pro streaming 2TB of iTunes media through an AirPort Extreme to two AppleTV's, and 5 iPhones. Music, movies, and TV shows are slow to load since the loss of the introwebs.
I have read about switching to "Bridge Mode" in airport utility but am not sure what this would do other than possibly allow my iPhones to simultaneously connect to my network and have 3G access.
Any ideas on how to speed up the streaming of content?
Your sage advice is greatly appreciated.

I no longer have Internet access in my home. I do still have a MacBook Pro streaming 2TB of iTunes media through an AirPort Extreme to two AppleTV's, and 5 iPhones. Music, movies, and TV shows are slow to load since the loss of the introwebs.
Just so I understand correctly, are you saying since you no longer have Internet access, the overall streaming performance on your local wireless network has decreased? If so, Internet streaming and local network streaming are not directly related and, whether or not, you have Internet access should not matter.
Without Internet access, the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) would not get a Public IP address, but it would have a Private IP address of 10.0.1.1 ... and it would still be providing wireless clients connected to it with Private IP addresses in the 10.0.1.2 - 10.0.1.200 range.
Please compare your AEBSn's settings with the following to see if making any of the changes will help with your local network streaming performance:
AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
Wireless Mode: Create a wireless network
Wireless Network Name: <enter a desired Network Name or SSID>
Radio Mode: <unless you have non-"n" clients that you need your network to support, I would suggest setting this to "802.11n only (5 GHz) - 802.11n only (2.4 GHz)>
    Channel: Automatic
    Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
    Internet > Internet Connection
    Connect Using: Ethernet
Connection Sharing: Distribute a range of IP addresses
    Internet > TCP/IP
    Configure IPv4: Manually
    IP Address: 10.0.1.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router Address: 10.0.1.1
    DNS Server(s): <leave blank>
    Domain Name: <leave blank>
    Internet > DHCP
DHCP Beginning Address: <leave default or change to a desired starting address>
DHCP Ending Address: <leave default or change to a desired ending address>
    Advanced > Logging & Statistics
    Allow SNMP (unchecked)
Your AEBSn will still report at least three errors: 1) Configuration of WAN, 2) SNMP over WAN, and 3) Double NAT. These can all be safely ignored (by disabling them in the AirPort Utility) to stop the AEBSn's status light from flashing amber in this configuration.

  • Can't restore new phone through backup without updating itunes, can't update itunes without deleting those backups.

I've got a big problem i'm hoping you guys can help with.
I recently updated my iTunes but now it refuses to open at all. I've googled this and it says that i need to just uninstall and then reinstall itunes, as the new 64 bit version has come out. My problem is this: I NEED the old itunes data that i have to sync contacts with my new phone. I made backup copies before my old iphone 4 crapped out, but i can't sync my new iphone with these copies without updating. however, i can't update without uninstalling everything and deleting my backups. see the problem here?
    please help!

    Hello viclotto,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you need to update iTunes but you have concern for your information in iTunes. It is unlikely that any of your purchased or uploaded data would be affected affected by uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but I would recommend making sure your iTunes library has been backed up. Your contacts are not stored in iTunes but rather in the contacts program of your Windows computer. Deleting and reinstalling iTunes will not affect your contact data that is stored in your computer.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
Media you've bought from the iTunes Store or songs you've imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default. They won't be deleted by removing iTunes. Although it's highly unlikely that you'll lose any of your iTunes Library when following the steps below, first make sure that your iTunes library is backed up. See iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive for more information.
    Steps
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then restart your computer.
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them. Doing so might have unintended affects.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Is it possible to update itunes without getting Mavericks? I have an issue with my iPhone.

I recently updated to ios8.0.2 for my iphone 5s. And now when I plug it into my macbook, itunes prompts me to update itunes because ios8 apparently doesn't allow me to sync the previous version of itunes. But the new itunes requires updating to Mavericks, which I really DO NOT want to do, mostly because I do run Bootcamp a lot and start up in windows from time to time. I've heard people  having issues with bootcamp and Mavericks, like having to re install Windows/Parallels/etc. and I am not ready for that mess. I don't have access to my windows 7 serial number anymore (it was given to me by a teacher awhile back with whom I don't have contact with anymore). I'm just ultimately trying to avoid screwing up bootcamp/windows, losing files, and having to purchase windows if the worst case scenario happens.
I considered just using itunes in windows, but on the windows side of things, itunes wont give me the notification/option to transfer all my purchases from my iphone, so there goes that. If there is a solution to just transferring purchases, I'd much rather go that route than the mess of mavericks.

  • Updating iTunes without an internet connection

    Hi,
I just got my iPhone, but my version of iTunes is outdated and so I can't use it with the phone. It's a long, long story, but I'm without an internet connection for a few months.
Can I just download the .exe file to a flash drive and then use that to update my current iTunes, or do I have to uninstall iTunes before I do that? Or is there another way?
Yeah, in case you haven't guessed, I'm not exactly clued up on computers so go easy, please.
    Thanks

  • Updating iTunes without upgrading software. HELP!

I bought a Clamshell iBook on eBay and it came with 10.3.9 software already installed on it. I have iTunes 4 and I need to update as much as I can without upgrading the Mac OS X. Everytime I try to enter the iTunes store, it tells me that the store is too busy and to try again later, or that the internet connection is bad. Which I know these are not the cases. It won't even let me load my songs and application on from my iPhone. I need alot of help with this!!!
If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it very much!
    Thank you.

Sorry, didn't catch the iPhone part. You will need to upgrade if you want to sync your phone. Here's what the iPhone needs:
    Mac system requirements
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later
    iTunes 7.7 or later
If you don't have a USB 2.0 port, syncing is very slow and prone to errors.
I'm not sure what your iBook specs are, but OS 10.4 (Tiger) has the following requirements:
To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
    A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
    Built-in FireWire
At least 256 MB of RAM
DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
At least 3 GB of free disk space
You can find Tiger discs for purchase online. Try a Google search.

  • I have windows 8 and need to install itunes (without internet)

I've got the set up.exe file through another computer (latest version downloaded) and have put on desktop of windows 8, but when i go to use the set up it say  "this app can't run on your PC" find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher" any clues?
My main reason for wanting to put iTunes on the windows 8 computer is so i can use my iPhone 4 as a hotspot, I've seen that it won't work unless iTunes is installed....
feel like I'm going around in circles!
    Any help would be amazing!

    That is not true.
If you have the installer, iTunes will install without an active Internet connection.
The OP must have the correct installer for the OS on the computer.
The installer for Windows 8 64-bit can be found here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • Itunes without internet

my mother just got an ipod for christmas, but she does not have internet at home. She basically wants to use it to import all her cds and nothing else. so my question- Can i just burn a copy of itunes to a cd, have her install it, and then have her burn all her cds? This will work, right?

Well, yes. However, what she won't have access to without an internet connection is the Gracenote database. So, when she puts a CD in, all she'll see is Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc. She'll have to type in all of the album information by hand. It's perfectly doable as those of us who started importing CDs before Gracenote was available can attest to. It's just a bit tedious.

  • Can i update Itunes WITHOUT installing Quicktime?

Is it possible to download an Itunes update without downloading Quick time or are they inseparably bundled?

    I don't need QT. I don't use it.
If you're going to use iTunes, you DO need it. iTunes requires Quicktime in order to function.

  • Can I update software without internet connection?

    Hi.
I have my iPod Nano synchronized with my home computer, but I don't have internet connection there.
If I want to update my iPod software, I have to connect it to my job computer (with internet connection), but it means to delete all my music.
There is any way to download the latest software from my job computer, and install it on my iPod in my home computer?.
    Thanks a lot. Regards.
iPod Nano 8 GB 2nd Generation   Windows XP   Pentium III 866 MHz, 384 MB RAM, HDD 320 GB (I know it, it's prehistoric)

Not as far as I know.
As the software updater is now integrated into iTunes, it needs to contact the software updater server via the internet.
