...is a free, cross-platform, remote desktop system that you can use to access your Mac from almost any system. You could email your photos home, log in to LogMeIn, open iWeb and post blog entries & pictures remotely via your home system.
And with FarFinder:
...you can "access your Mac with a browser or iPhone."
And here are a couple of links about using iWeb from two computers:

  • Updating iWeb from another computer?

I am building my website on my Desktop. I also have iLife 09 on my Macbook Pro as well. Is there a way that I could update my website via my Laptop even though I am building the site on my desktop? This wouldn't be a permanent thing. Just thinking I could update my site while I am on the go rather than wait till I got home to do it on my desktop.
    thanks!

  • Can I update a blog created in iWeb from another computer?

    Hello Forum,
While I am away from my office base, I would like to update my blog (created using iWeb) from another computer. I have a dotmac account.
I thought doing this should pose no problems, but I simply can't figure it out.....
Hope someone can help me out on this one.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Greg

When you go to .mac and log in, you should see stories there regarding the features of .mac. One of the recent ones (should still be on the front page) is Tech note: Using iWeb on more than one Mac
    Underneath this header, you'll find
"All you need to do is quit iWeb (if it’s open), locate the domain.sites file (Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites), and move it to wherever you’re going to use it. Then double-click the file in its new location. iWeb will launch, and you’re done. From then on, iWeb will automatically save your work in the new location, and you’ll be able to publish your site from any Mac that has access to it.
So, if your domain.sites is small enough to fit on your iDisk, you could keep a copy there and use it from any computer that has iWeb 1.1 or later installed to update your blog.

  • HT4972 if i backup my ipod will it save everything when i update on a different computer?

if i backup my ipod will it save everything when i update on a different computer?

    - The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music. If those synced items are not on the computer on which you do the update they will not be oj the iPod after the update. The update erases the iPod
    - First transfer iTunes purchases:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - The restore the iPod from that backup. The restore will also update the iPod.

  • Updating iWeb from a different computer

I cannot find a way to access my iWeb editing pages from a different computer (work desktop vs laptop). Is it even possible? Is there a "file sharing/permissions" thing I need to establish? When I open iWeb on the "other" computer is there a way to access what I've started on my laptop? Help! I'm so frustrated ...
    thank you

  • Post to blog from different computer?

I think this is a lightly different question than some of the ones I have seen on this forum. Suppose I have an iMac at home and a PowerBook that follows me everywhere. Both machines have iWeb installed, and I have a blog that I set up on an iWeb page that I created on the iMac. It seems to me that it would be nice to be able to post to my blog when I am not home. I don't want to edit the web page from a different computer, I just want to post to the blog. I have the right kind of computer and the right software, but if there is some way to do this simple thing, I must be missing it. Anyone know whether this is possible, and if so, how to do it?
    Thanks

That's interesting. So I just back up the domain file to my thumb drive, and when I double click it from whatever machine I am on, it opens iWeb and I can post, edit, etc. Right?
With that scenario, the thumb drive effectively becomes the master. Sounds like this would pose some synchronization problems, but they are probably manageable.
    Thanks

  • Upload songs from different computer

Anyone know how to upload songs from different computers? It will prompt a error it detect my ipod has songs from another library and ask me to link to current one, if i do so, it will erase all my existing songs. Anyone has solution to this?

By default the iPod is set to "automatically manage songs and playlists", which is why you get the iTunes warning telling you the iPod is linked to another library when you connect it to a computer it hasn't been on before. If you want to use it on more than one computer then connect your iPod to your main computer and change the update setting. Once it's connected and showing in iTunes go to Edit>Preferences>iPod and change the update method to to "manually manage songs and playlists":

  • How to I move IWeb from one computer to another?

I have IWeb on both my MacBook and my IMac.    I can only edit my website from one computer (MacBook).   How do I move that capability to the IMac?

The file you need is names Domain.sites (iWeb 2) or Domain.sties2 (iWeb 3) and it lives in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
You want to move that iWeb folder to the Home/Library/Application Support folder on your iMac.
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Where can I find detailed instructions for adding updated firmware from my computer to my Canon 6D?

I have downmloaded the latest firmware for my Canon 6D to my computer. I cannot find detailed instructions to add the firmware to my camera. Do I use the USB port and cable from the computer to the camera? It must be simple but I cannot seem to find instructions and I do not want to make a mistake.
    thank you

    From the download site:
    Firmware changes:
Firmware Version 1.1.4 incorporates the following fixes:
    1. Fixes a phenomenon in which some images cannot be transferred to mobile devices running the EOS Remote app.
    2. Corrects an error in the German language Feature Guide.
    3. Corrects an error in the Korean language Feature Guide.
Firmware Version 1.1.4 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.1.3. If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.1.4, it is not necessary to update the firmware.
    Please note:
After the firmware update has been performed the following setting will be reset to default.
Menu > Custom Function> C.Fn II: Autofocus > AF Microadjustment> 1: All by same amount
When updating the firmware of the camera, please review the instructions thoroughly before you download the firmware.
    Q&A:
    Preparations for a firmware update:
    Windows
After the downloaded compressed file (.zip file) is extracted, a firmware folder is created.
    *Extracting the downloaded file:
Right-click the zip file, and then select Extract All to extract the file.
The extracted folder contains the firmware (File name: 6D000114.FIR, File size: 21,276,940 bytes) and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese).
Before starting the firmware update operations, please confirm the contents of the download, and carefully read through the firmware update procedures.

  • Restore Time Machine backup from different computer?

I'm going to put a new HD in my MacBook Pro.
Once I've done it will it be possible to restore my user folder, applications etc. from a different computer's (Power Mac) Time Machine backup?

    Thanks again Joe.
One last question. Once I've transferred my files from the Power Mac's Time Machine disk could I select that disk in MacBook Pro's Preferences as it's Time Machine backup disk?
(Effectively stop using it as the Power Mac's backup disk & continue using it as the MacBook Pro's backup disk).
Backing up new files on the MacBook Pro to the disk, but still be able to 'go back in time' & restore files from the Time Machine disk (backup up over time on the Power Mac).

  • Install OSX from different computer

Here's the situation. Hard drive died, and data was unretrievable. Hard drive was replaced and 10.4.11 was installed. Before the failure I had 10.5.5 that I had bought as a family pack, which I also have installed on a different computer. Unfortunately I can't find the disc. Is there a way to make a copy of the OS or a way to install it from the other computer via firewaire, or am I going to have to buy a new disc?

When you say not work properly, do you mean unusable
Yes, I mean unusable; the system may not even boot, or it may boot but be erratic in operation
if it doesn't work, is it possible to undo?
Only with a reinstall of the OS.
Between PowerPC systems, you can try cloning the drive on the "good" system if you absolutely can't get your hands on a retail Mac OS X installer. Boot the system with the new drive to Firewire target disk mode and use a cloning utility such as Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the OS from the "good" system to the other one. If you're lucky, it might work without problems. But it's by no means guaranteed; it could lead to erratic results and/or some functions, system prefs, etc may not work or may be missing. Note as well that you'll need to remove from the cloned system any applications that were installed on the "good" system for which you don't have a license to run on two machines.
It will really be better if you can get a new retail installation disk for Mac OS X. That's going to be the most reliable method of installing on the new drive.
    Good luck.

  • Problem uploading pictures from my computer to internet

I just got my new imac. I have since uploaded two "events" in iPhoto and wanted to upload some of these pictures from my computer to some online programs (flikr etc..). But when I go to choose the photos to upload, I go to user - pictures - and then there is iPhoto Library and Photobooth. But photobooth is the only one that has a little arrow allowing me to choose the pictures in that folder. Iphoto library doesn't have an arrow and therefore doesn't even seem to read that there are indeed photos in the library. What is going on??
    PLEASE HELP.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
If you're uploading to a site via a web browser, the procedure is to use the File -> Export option and export the pics to the desktop. Then upload them from there. After the upload you can trash the pics on the desktop - they are only copies and the originals are safe in iphoto.

  • Can I update iWeb from a different Mac

My MacBookPro went down last week. I need to update our website, can I do it from the MacBook?
If so, how? I use iWeb & I think I publish to Moible Me, but I am really not sure at this point?

What caused the old Mac to crash?  If it wasn't a disk crash but a mother board or other component crash you should be able to remove the hard drive out of it, connect it to the new Mac and save your files.
