Updating kernel from 32 to 69

Hello ALL ,
i`m trying to update kernel on ecc 6.0 ehp 4 from 32 to 69 , and i`m working on windows server 2008 R2 with MSSQL server 2008 R2 , but it still take the old one " 32 version  " , this is how I`ve update it after reading several notes :
1. download .sar file from marketplace .
2. stop the SAP services
3. decompress the file with sapcar .
4. copy the new files and replace it with these files in this path : D:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64
5. re-start the services.
6. open the ECC .
please i need your help guys .!!

Hi,
Your procedure is correct. Nevertheless, don't forget to take a backup of the existing kernel before replacement.
To make things a bit better, I would like to suggest you to do the following
Goto Market place Software download --> Support packages and patches --> Kernel -->SAP KERNEL 64-BIT -->
Windows on x64 64bit -->Database independent --> SAPEXE.SAR Kernel Part I
And
Oracle -->SAPEXEDB.SAR Kernel Part II
DBSL Library,
R3trans, tp
Extract both of them to the kernel directory.
Please revert, if you run into issues.
Br,
Venky

it seems that this bug related to i915 chip ( or intel graphic card ) is fixed in kernel 3.18rc3 mainline ( we can find this kernel package in AUR )
there is also another and complete different bug when we use a kernel 3.17 and even 3.18 ( it's a random bug ) but with a similar effect : boot can hang ( the boot process suddenly stops ) :
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=189622
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=189324
downgrading to kernel 3.16.x is the workaround
I assume my computer is affected by one of these bugs. While I can get to the point where my window manager is loaded, everything almost immediately hangs (but doesn't freeze). Terminal windows become non-responsive and Chromium will refuse input. It's very weird. This happens with both of the 3.17 kernel updates but not in any of the 3.16 releases (including 3.16.7).
This is on an AMD system (cpu/gpu w/ open source driver). Overall 3.17 seems rather buggy.

  • Update modules with compiling kernel from soure issue.

Compiling kernel from abs or aur take me much time, so i decide compile kernel from source, compilation and installation successfully but make initial RAM disk doesn't update full modules (crypto,lvm...). I specified -c option to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf but the result is the sam, non-autodectec doesn't help too. When i look into /lib/modules directory, 3.6.6-1-ARCH folder contain "kernel" folder which has a lot of things (arch, crypto, net..) and i think this is my extra modules were declared in HOOK array's mkinitcpio.conf. The another one only contain net folder so i can't boot into this kernel without having loaded others.
any suggestion for this problem? tks for reply.

am sorry, i re-tried with HOOK array without autodectect and it can load modules but there are two error:
==> ERROR: module not found: `dm-crypt`
==> ERROR: modules not found: `dm-snapshot`
ok i will try to load these modules by manually.
EDIT: i tried to load dm-mod, dm-crypt, dm-snapshot but it isn't helpful. Errors still remain. any suggestion?

  • Update kernel steps for IDES 4.7 - Windows - MS SQL SERVER 2000

    Hello,
Concerning updating the kernel - for IDES 4.7, Windows, SQL SERVER 2000 - is there a way to locate exactly the.SAR files - for the database dependent & database independent parts - which are compatible with the used SAP version.
Also, does updating the kernel involve only the following:
    - Downloading the .SAR file.
    - Taking a backup copy of the exe/run folder's content.
    - Stopping the SAP system and all related services.
    - Unpacking the .SAR files using the SAPCAR utitilty,
i.e. are there any specific steps to be done after the unpacking ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Reda,
I guess You want to upgrade kernel from 6.20 to 6.40.
Go to service.sap.com -> downloads -> SAP Support Packages -> Search for SP and Upgrades -> enter "kernel 6.40" and follow the link "kernel 6.40 32-BIT".
On next window choose from location :SAP KERNEL 6.40 \ Windows Server \ Database independent following SARs (title):
    -       enq
    -       disp+work package
    -       dsrlib
    -      enserver
    -       librfc
    -       MMC (optional)
    -       Kernel Part I (for Basis 640/620/610) Q1/2007 (very important)
    -       saposcol
From location:SAP KERNEL 6.40 \ Windows Server \ MS SQL Server choose following SARs:
    -      Database Library
    -       R3LOAD
    -       R3load Control
    -       Kernel Part II (for Basis 640/620/610) Q1/2007 (very important)
Unpack it to newKernel directory and copy it to \exe\run directory.
Next step  Frank Deijkers  already wrote.
On the end of upgrade go to \exe\run catalog and run sapstartsrv.exe program for registering new service and COM library.

  • Can't update kernel [enterprise linux 5.11]

I use Oracle linux 5.11 on some PCs because I need old version of gcc for software testing and Oracle 5.x offers a newer kernel than the other RHEL clones.
Last time I tried the Package Updater, it fails with a heap of conflict messages like this:
file /usr/include/asm-generic/fcntl.h from install of kernel-headers-2.6.18-402.0.0.0.1.el5.x86_64 conflicts with file from package kernel-uek-headers-2.6.32-400.36.8.el5uek.x86_64
file /usr/include/asm-generic/ioctl.h from install of kernel-headers-2.6.18-402.0.0.0.1.el5.x86_64 conflicts with file from package kernel-uek-headers-2.6.32-400.36.8.el5uek.x86_64
If I only select one update (kernel-uek) it will proceed, but plain kernel will stumble.
I am only using public repositories, not subscribed to ULN.

If I remember correctly, than OL 5 does not store kernel-header packages in separate directories like OL 6. Whatever you are trying to install or update does probably not recognize the kernel-uek-header package. It might work if you simply uninstall the uek kernel header.
Open terminal and enter the following:
    $ su - root
    $ yum remove kernel-uek-headers
    Try again.

  • Error while updating data from PSA to ODS

    Hi Sap Gurus,
I am facing the error while updating data from PSA to ODS in BI 7.0
    The exact error message is:
The argument 'TBD' cannot be interpreted as a number
The error was triggered at the following point in the program:
    GP44QSI5RV9ZA5X0NX0YMTP1FRJ 5212
Please suggest how to proceed on this issue.
    Points will be awarded.

    Hi ,
Try to simulate the process. That can give you exact error location.
It seems like while updating few records may be no in the format of the field in which it is updated.

Running Windows XP service pack 3. Updated Firefox from 8.0 to 9.0. Now when Firefox opens "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" is displayed in a window and no home page appears. What's wrong?

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Update data from cube to cube in BW 3.5

    Dear Experts,
Can we update data from one cube to another cube in BW 3.5. i tried it, I created the connection between two cubes as i did in ods to cube through update rules but there is no option like in ods to send the data(update dso data to data targets). Please help me on this.

    hi arvind,
Thanks, but i have some doubt again, i did it and also data transfered to the second cube, but after creating the connection i went to bi7 in infosource and there i found that cube name starting with 8(cube name), but my question is can i do it in bw3.5 without going to rsa1.

  • Update data from ODS to ODS with infopackage selection

    Hi,
I am trying to update data from one ODS to another ODS with selection criteria in InfoPackage which is created manually. For Full load I can give selection criteria in InfoPackage. When I initialize data Selection is greyed out even selections for Full load exists. Please advise me how to give selections for delta loads from ODS to ODS loads.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ram

Once you started an ODS as destination in FULL mode from a DS you cannot get back.
So if you want to update from ODS to ODS using Change Log but considering only some data records you could create an Update Routine with a Start Routine that DELETES undesired records (e.g. DELETE DATA_PACKAGE WHERE ...) and then start an Init-Delta Loading.
    Hope it helps

  • How to get updated values from the loops while they are running

    Hello,
I am having difficulty solving a very basic problem, how to access the updated values from the 'FOR loop' while its running?  Basically, the VI  I am currently working on calls two sub VIs. Each sub VI has a for loop, and both VIs may or may not run for same number of iterations. My goal is to read the values at each terminal inside the loop of both sub VIs, in the Main VI. I tried to achieve it using Global Variables, but in main VI it displays only the last iteration value from both sub VIs. Could anyone please tell me whrere am I going wrong? Is there any other/better way to achieve this.
I appreciate any input on this issue.
Kudos are (always) welcome for the good post. :-)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Dennis,
In attached VI, I can see the values changing in the sub VI from the main VI with the numeric indicator whose reference is passed on to the sub VI. Now if I wanted to store or use those values how do I do that? I tried to chnge the indicator to control and read from it (in the attached VI) , but the the indicator updates only once. Tried to create a property node and read the Value from it and it didn't work either.
    Thanks in Advance!

The iPad 1 can't run the newer operating systems. It'd be like trying to play a bluray disc in your 6 year old dvd player....it simply lacks the hardware to make the software run.
No suggestion about the camera, but given that Apple's attitude seems to be to focus more on the more mobile devices for photography (the iPhone and Touch cameras got features, the iPad and mini didn't), that is highly unlikely. You can tell Apple what you want, but you'd probably be money ahead to get a digital camera.
as to the photos, anything put on via iTunes has to come off via iTunes.Your main alternative would be to look for photo apps that offer file exchange that may give you more functionality.

Does anyone have an idea how I can fix it? I have already downloaded updates, both from Adobe and Windows. I have a new pc with window 8.1.

It could be a coincidence, but I rebooted the machine and (knock on wood) PSE13 seems to be working ok.

I am trying to update ITunes from 10.4 to 10.5 I have tried from both the program, and from a download on Apple's website. Regardless, I get the following error messages: (1) Installation package for iTunes cannot be found. Try installing to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install iTunes.  I can't find this folder. I have tried to completely unistall iTunes through the Control Panel, but it wouldn't let me: I tried going directly to the files themselves, but cannot uninstall. Any help would be greatly appreciated. System OS: Win XP SP 3.

Set the permissions for Everyone in the folder in which CCPackager created, to "Read/Write" enabled. This is strange since there is only an administrator account on the Mac (and that account already has read/write), but it seems to resolve the issue.
