Updating Library...forever

I/m trying out the developer build of our revised newsstand friendly app. When I tap the app in the newsstand, it just says Updating Library and never seems to make any progress. I have to think I'm missing a step or doing something wrong. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Please reply with one of the productIDs in your folio selection. This behavior is a symptom of misconfigured rendition folios. I can investigate and give guidance if it's something that can be remedied with an update.
Thanks.

  • Photo browser stuck (please wait, updating library - forever)

I have iPad 1 64 GB Wifi for few days, I have just few photos there and suddenly, when I open photo browser, there is only "please wait, updating library " message" forever. I tried to remove all the photos via itunes - no improvement. I added - the same. What happened ? How to make it working again ? Thank you

Thank you , in the end resetting photo application helped. As a new iPad user, I did not know that after double pressing home button, you get the list of active applications and you can switch them off ... now I know ..

  • Can't see photos of iPhoto through my Apple TV after moving the iPhoto library to my Airport Extreme Disk. It keeps "loading user's library" forever...

    Hi there,
some days ago I purchased an Airport Extreme router with disk to move my iphoto library there and free space of my crowded macbook pro.
Everything was working well (iphoto takes a little bit longer to start and quit) but now I can't see my photo library through my apple tv.
It keeps loading the library forever.
Is there any problem doing that?
    Thanks

    Help,
Thanks for the quick answer and for the welcome.
Yes I selected it in the iTunes sharing options (in fact several times, with resets in between just in case)
I think that it's related to the size of the library (more than 8 gb) and e fact that is in a remote disk (in the AirPort Extreme)
Hope anyone has the solution :-))
    Thanks again!

  • Photo synching reads 'Please wait, updating library'?

Hi, synching OK with all other features of iTunes however my photo library just has the message: 'updating library, please wait'. It never stops & so I need help please.
Running Windows Vista & no issues with my iPod Touch.

Have you looked at the past discussions on this same problem? You can easily find them by using the search function the right and search the iPad forum for "updating library". There is one page of results for the last 90 days.

  • OS 3.1.2 Update didn't fix the "updating library, please wait a few minutes

I was hoping that the software update would fix the "Updating library, please wait a few minutes" screen that comes up when I try to play a song on my ipod touch after syncing. Is this bizarre "updating library" delay going to be a permanent feature of the ipod touch now? Could someone from Apple please clarify if you are trying to fix this, or is this just the way it is now?
If you (Apple) aren't going fix it, I hope you make it known in your marketing for the ipod touch that you can't listen to your songs immediately. If you don't disclose this, I sure hope the Zune touch people make a big deal out of it when promoting their mp3 player. I woudn't have bought an ipod touch if I had known I had to wait 2-10 minutes to listen to a song.

I suspect there's something else going on here... I'm having terrible trouble syncing films, and even tho they are clearly there, they don't seem to load in the list... I noticed that especially if I had dropped my network connection - the list would disappear (and this is on multiple touches)... It then starts to look very like my issues on Apple TV, where if it cannot verify the film back throught the network to the store, it deletes the content from your box... I suspect that each time it loads on the touch, it's doing some kind of 'legitimacy' verify, and that's what's causing the problem.... If I crash the sync just before the end, the re-index seems to work okay, but there is still that slight delay....

  • Updated to newest version of itunes and now it tries to update library and freezes, how do I get it to just play music again.

Updated to newest version of itunes and now it tries to update library and it stops responding and won't let me cancel the little update bar that appears. I just want to know how to get it to the point where I can play music again.

This is happening to me too, very frustrating

  • Can't update library item in object library

I used to be able to update library items, and did so often. Now the "Update library item" option is not just grayed out-- it's gone from the panel menu.
In order to update an item, I have to drag it to the page, update, then delete the corresponding library item, then drag the updated item back from the page into the library (and name it again). Do-able, but a lot more time consuming.
I have checked Edit > Menus, Context & Panel Menus and the Update Library Item feature visibility is on.
Is there something I'm overlooking? Thanks for any help!

Might be time to delete InDesigns prefs.
To delete the preferences, hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt+Cmd just as you launch InDesign.
Doing this will remove any workspaces you have set up along with Print/PDF Presets.
    Back these up first.

  • Cannot start itunes as 'Updating Library' come up and jams

Since i downloaded the most recent itunes update, when i have tried to get itunes working, it has opened up and a grey box with a blue loading bar has popped up, saying 'updating library'. It updates as normal, until it gets about 65% of the way through and then it jams and says itunes is not responding. I can't access itunes while it is updating, so there is nothing i can do about it. I have tried reinstalling and have tried downlading an older version and none work.
Anyone have any idea because im thoroughly stuck at the moment?

that's typically caused by a problem with a content file or files in your collection.
tracking down which files are causing the issue can be a pain. but the "Check for content files with issues" section from the following document may be of some assistance:

  • "Updating Library"  - problem with uploading pictures

I have been trying to upload pictures and when I go into photos it says "updating library" and it's been trying for at least an hour. I've tried uploading only 15 pictures and still nothing. I also have the issue with the size. Do I need to resize before upload? If so how and in what dimensions? Need help!!

Theree is no need to resize photos, the computer will do that before transferring.
Try force quitting the photo app on the iPad by holding the sleep wake button until you see the slide to power off screen. Then hold the home button until you are back at the home screen and try open the photos app again.

  • Updating library "processing" starts from scratch every morning!

help! every morning when i start aperture it decides it needs to "process" ALL 12K pictures in my library. in the activity window it says it's "updating library." i have no idea what this means or why aperture needs to do this every day. (once it finishes — after six or seen hours! — it works fine. but while it's "processing" my entire system crawls to a halt and time machine feels compelled to run and run and run.)
i've recently "upgraded" from iphoto to aperture, but this is another terrible "gotcha!" that makes me want to go back.
any idea what's going on, or how i can stop this endless "processing"?!?
    thanks!

Have you tried the recommended trouble-shooting steps?
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=26%26se ction=10%26tasks=true
Since your installation works well once it finishes processing, I suggest letting to so once more, and then try to repair and if nec. rebuild.

  • Have i lost my library forever???

    Hi all,
I know other people have asked this.
I have my itunes library on a pc which has recently packed up.
The computer does not power up the hard drive so i have no way of getting in to it.
I have bought a laptop to replace it and now need to retrieve my itunes library but when i log in i have nothing.
Is there something i need to do or have i lost my library forever.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

The first thing you need to do is get the hard drive out of your packed up PC. Find out it's size, and connector (PATA, SATA, etc) and buy an external hard disk caddy (USB preferably). Put the hard drive in the caddy, attach to your new computer, and you'll have access to your old data
Whilst it's not helpful at the moment, please research how to backup your data in the future: Using the above method, you'll now have an external hard disk in which to backup to!

  • Aperture 3 - stuck "Updating Library" Processing images

My Aperture 3 Library says it is Updating Library Processing 93,182 items. It gets stuck at 268 of 93,182 and stops. If I try to Export anything the Activity Monitor shows it is processing the Export, however nothing happens.
I have to Force Quit at this stage and then open Aperture.
I have tried the Option + Command on open and done all three options, however this does not seem to fix it.
This may also have something to do with not being able to view all of my images in iWeb photo browser.
    Any Suggestions?
On importing my Aperture 2 library I did a complete re-build of it and made sure it was as clean as possible.
    Thank you

I have fixed this problem....for now at least, I deleted A3 renamed library folders and system folders and anything else I could find that said aperture, then did another install and it all seems to work again and it kept all my adjustments etc...so I obviously didn't rename everything! Of course I did a superduper backup first, I was just so pi@#ed off with it not working. I manually down loaded the updates and have opened and closed several times and it still works. It did however work fine when I first installed it so I won't be surprised if it stuffs up again. Anyway at least it is working for now. hope this helps

  • IOS8 podcast app stuck updating library

I transferred my girlfriends old iPhone 4 (iOS6)  for to a newer 4s.  Did a backup, restored new iPhone 4s that was operating iOS8 and installed from a backup of the old phone.
Everything seems OK except that the podcast app says updating library for about 30 seconds then the app crashes.  I have seen solutions that suggest uninstalling the podcast app then re-installing, but I don't think you can uninstall the podcast app in iOS8.
    Any suggestions?

I was in the same boat and just tried something that worked.... (iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1)
First I bought another podcast app and tried to import my library, which didn't work. Hopefully buying another app has nothing to do with my podcast app working now
So I started searching for my podcasts by name and couldn't find one. Went to Safari and looked it up and tried to subscribe via the website...suddenly my Apple podcast library re-opened for business.
    Hope that helps someone!
